Dragon Qualifiers

This thread is for the qualifiers for the Dragon gym. The date for the start of the qualifiers is July 15th, 2015. The format for the qualifiers will be singles. The examiner will be Elevator Music.

Each candidate for the gym will fight against the examiner, a user chosen by the gym committee. After the battles end, the candidate that the committee judges played best will become the new leader.

• 3v3 singles
  • Gym candidates may bring up to 3 extra Pokemon.
  • The examiner's Pokemon will be chosen from their pool. The same Pokemon will be brought to each match in the qualifiers.
• The examiner will send out first.
• 2 recoveries / 5 Chills per Pokemon
• Items = On

• Switch = OK
• Megas = 1
• Subs = 3
• ASB Arena

Alright, now that both battles have ended, we can reach a decision on who will be gym leader. After talking it out with Dogfish, here are our thoughts on both battles:

deadfox081
There were two main mistakes that led to your loss. Miscalcing how much Dragalge's Dragon Pulse would do to Goodra ended up costing it over half its HP, which seriously detracted from your lead. Likewise, in the last round the mistake with the Iron Tail+Giga Impact combo turned what was a possible win into a sure-loss. That said, you played well with your Pokemon otherwise, and had overall solid first orders. Only in rounds 1 and 5 were your substitutions used against you, but neither of which were particularly damaging for you (round 5 did make a large difference, but it was also probably unavoidable and handled as well as one could expect).

It seems like you gave up after round 3. I don't think things were winnable at that point, but c'mon :(
Anyways, the only noteworthy mistakes were that it probably would have been better to switch out Haxorus after round 1, and the abused sub round 3. The latter really swung the battle, but it's a mistake you can learn from.
