Other Hackmon Royalty (BH Team)

Forward

Hey. I've been hanging around the Balanced Hackmons metagame for a little bit. And it's fun.

One of the coolest thing about BH is that people can experiment with any sets they want, to see what works and what doesn't. Old sets fall into obscurity, and new things like ORAS Megas, Yveltal, and Kyurem-Black start seeing use. And soon these sets spread and begin to dominate the metagame.

I'm not one of those people.

I like using old tricks. And I continue to.

I've made two balanced hackmons teams. The other uses some random strategies I saw and shedinja; I might post it eventually. But for now, let's get on with the RMT.

Strategy

The entire point of this team seemed simple at first - I wanted to make a team that focused on wearing down the opponent and discouraging certain threats from coming out, then start taking them out with a couple very powerful Pokemon once they realized it was too late.

All the Pokemon here have a certain niche that allows the team to function properly.

The Team in Detail

386-speed.gif

Overlord Jester (Deoxys-Speed) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Mold Breaker
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: NaN Atk
- Spore
- Leech Seed
- Substitute
- Gastro Acid

This guy's my lead and the first Pokemon I put on this team. You may be looking at this set and going, "No stealth rock?" Yes, this ain't your average Deoxys-S set. It's more of an 'anti-lead' than anything. His job is spreading sleep with his trolly speed and taking stalling opponents while taking their health away.

Spore is self-explanatory; it puts opponents to sleep and allows Deoxys-S time to set up a leech seed and a substitute. The lum berry is for other spore leads, which allow Deoxys-S to spore any opponent who wins the speed tie. Mold Breaker makes sure that Magic Bounce, Insomnia, etc. don't affect spore. The substitute not only allows Deoxys-S to subseed but also prevents status moves and the like from affecting it. Gastro acid, while not commonly used, has a nice niche in BH. Many Pokemon rely on their ability, so Deoxys-S can force switches on Pokemon such as contrary users, poison heal users, magic guard users, normalize gengar, etc. etc. etc.

The 0 Attack IVs are to minimize the damage done by foul play, which is becoming more common on leads and defensive Pokemon.

Overlord Guard (Dialga) @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Bounce
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: NaN Atk
- Dragon Pulse
- Rapid Spin
- Aromatherapy
- Recover

Your standard bulky magic bounce user. Dialga has a nice typing, with weakness only to fighting and ground. It also has a neutrality to dragon, unlike the other dragons running everywhere in BH. Dialga basically functions as the "Everything else I kind of wanted" Pokemon.

Magic bounce prevents the team from getting affected by common status moves - spore, taunt, and whirlwind, to name a few. Rapid spin is a staple on this set, allowing Dialga to get rid of the ever-common stealth rock, which allows Reshiram and Lugia to switch in safely. Aromatherapy cures status, most notably sleep and burn, and the occasional poison. Recover and leftovers allow Dialga to keep HP up, and dragon pulse allows Dialga to finish off weakened threats, as well as avoid being taunt bait.

The 0 attack EVs are again to minimize foul play damage.

Overlord Prince (Giratina) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Prankster
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: NaN Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Whirlwind
- Spore
- Recover

Ah, Giratina. The wall of BH. Anyway. Like Deoxys-S, Giratina's job is to spread sleep and wear down the opponent's HP. Giratina, however, also plays an important role in phazing the team, stopping setup sweepers, baton passers, and the like.

Prankster allows Giratina to have a guaranteed chance to spore an opponent, unless they use a priority move that goes before Giratina's, such as extreme speed, or they are naturally faster than Giratina and use a +1 priority move. Stealth rock and whirlwind allow Giratina to accumulate damage on the opponent and kill shedinjas. Dragon tail may receive STAB and deal super effective damage to all the dragons, but the miss chance and not being able to hit through substitutes were problems. Lots of Pokemon in BH are weak to stealth rock, so the sweepers have a chance to finish them off with ease. Recover is well, for recovery.

The lum berry was originally leftovers, but imposter chansey and blissey LOVE this guy and cripple him with spore. Giratina also hates burn and toxic, so the lum berry was added.

Overlord Princess (Lugia) @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Roost
- Perish Song
- Whirlpool
- Foul Play

Unaware walls are becoming less and less common, and many people don't realize how good they are. Lugia is able to stop contrary sweepers in their tracks by being immune to their stat changes. And it's special defense is one of the best in BH (and out of all Pokemon) so it can take a lot of draco meteors to the face.

Roost and leftovers allow Lugia to recover health and stall opponents. Perish song and whirlpool create a perish trap combo, allowing Lugia to easily take out opposing Pokemon. Perish song also cripples the occasional baton pass team and has the added benefit of effortlessly taking out the last Pokemon on a team. Whirlpool doesn't have the best accuracy, but it works against magic bounce users, unlike mean look. Foul play can easily KO setup sweepers who boost their attack. It also prevents Lugia from being taunt bait.

Now on to the sweepers...

Overlord King (Regigigas) @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
IVs: NaN SpA
- Extreme Speed
- Facade
- Knock Off
- Drain Punch

Yeah. It's regigigas. The ol' fashioned physical sweeper of BH. Who needs mega mewtwo X? Anyway, I chose regi over slaking because slaking's special defense really leaves something to be desired.

Toxic orb and poison heal provides a lot of recovery, allowing regi to tank more hits. Facade is the main powerhouse move, coming off at 210 BP with regi's stab and the boost from toxic. Knock off can easily KO common ghost types such as gengar, and regi also enjoys the lack of leftovers on the opponent's team. Drain punch mainly to KO steel types such as dialga, but also provides more recovery. Extreme Speed allows regigigas to KO weakened faster Pokemon.

Overlord Queen (Reshiram) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Contrary
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 SpD
Gentle Nature
- Draco Meteor
- V-create
- Recover
- Substitute

Reshiram is this team's plan B. Everything else is failing? Send out reshiram when the time is right, and watch the opposing team crumble. Contrary sweepers are very common, but most people use mewtwo's megas nowadays.

After a couple boosts V-create, reshiram's defenses and speed are doubled, making it a hard to stop threat already. Spam draco meteor, while boosting special attack, and there isn't much to stop this beast. Recover prevents reshiram from being KO'd after boosting its stats, and substitute's main niche is preventing blissey and chansey. The lum berry allows reshiram to avoid a crippling status ailment.

Threats

- Pixilate Mega Diancie. No true way to counter it, unfortunately.

Summary

I feel pretty good about my team. It wins most battles (most are forfeits, lol) and I don't feel I need to change it much. But with certain new threats, the ORAS megas and the primal legendaries, I'm not quite sure how my team will cope, so I may have to change my movesets accordingly. I also am looking to change up the EVs, since I don't have much experience with changing EVs to suit my needs and went with the suggested.

That's all for now.

All -ate users destroy you dude, bluck a soundproof defensive wall in there

Ok so I'm here to rate your team (first rate so don't hate on me mods ;o) Anyways this is definitely an interesting team however it does need a decent amount of work. First of all I would change regigigas to the spore phazing variant. Your team's goal is to basically spam spore and phazing them which is definitely a cool concept. Also you are absolutely mauled by ates as mentioned above so I'd put Mega Aggron with soundproof over Reshiram to be frank contrary usually fails against any good player in the metagame because there are so many counters such as unaware imposter and flash fire aegislash. With mega aggron you are a lot better than you were previously were in terms of dealing with ates. Finally I'd say that you are really really weak to mega gengar which can be easily remedied by adding mega rayquaza with earth power over deoxys s your set is most definitely interesting but, although I haven't tried it seems to not be very good in practice. With an earth power mega rayquaza you are much less vulnerable to mega gengar and the steel types that plaque the balanced hackmons metagame. You don't have to add in these changes but I highly recommend you try them out now have a nice day :toast:. Your team has a lot of potential so don't let this get you down if I sound too negative!
