Hippowdon

[OVERVIEW]

* Hippowdon's colossal physical bulk combined with a solid defensive typing and an access to Stealth Rock and Slack Off allow it to act as great wall, walling notable Pokemon such as Tapu Koko, Mega Metagross, Alolan Marowak and Mega Pinsir.
* Sand Stream can support sand-oriented teams and spread chip damage to help its teammates achieve KOes.
* Hippowdon has just enough Special bulk to check Electric and Poison types with little EV investment, namely Tapu Koko and Nihilego.
* However, Water, Ice, and Grass are pretty common offensively; Greninja, Kyurem-B, and Tapu Bulu are notable examples.
* Hippowdon is one of the most passive Stealth Rock setters in the tier, and can end up being setup fodder if not running Whirlwind.

Moves
========

* Stealth Rock is amazing for wearing the opponent's team down; it's almost always a must on Hippowdon.
* Earthquake is a very solid STAB move and allows Hippowdon to not be passive, stopping opponents trying to set up on it, as well as hitting Tapu Koko and Nihilego which Hippowdon can check.
* Slack Off is essential for keeping Hippowdon healthy and it allows Hippowdon to not get worn down during the battle.
* Whirlwind can phaze setup sweepers and help wear down the opponents team with Stealth Rock and sandstorm.
* Stone Edge hits most of the Flying-types Hippowdon walls, namely Mega Pinsir, Zapdos, and even Mega Charizard Y and Thundurus to an extent.
* Rock Slide can be used over Stone Edge for more accuracy, and while it still picks up the OHKO on Zard-Y it fails to KO Mega Pinsir from full HP and has a chance not 2HKO Pheromosa.
* Toxic can be used over Whirlwind to wear down foes, such as defensive Landorus-T, Tangrowth, and Mantine.
* Ice Fang can be used to surprise Landorus-T, Zygarde, and Garchomp, which would otherwise love to set up on Hippowdon, but it leaves Hippowdon with a unreliable move to hit Flying-types in general, since Ice Fang is very weak.

Set Details
========

* 252 HP EVs coupled with 16 Special Defense EVs ensure that Hidden Power Ice from Life Orb Koko is not a 2HKO after Stealth Rock and that Life Orb Latios's Draco Meteor cannot OHKO, meaning that Hippowdon can Recover stall the latter, since Draco Meteor drops Latios's Special Attack stat.
* The remaining 240 EVs are placed into Defence, allowing Hippowdon to deal with physical attackers better, such as Mega Metagross, Alolan Marowak, Mega Pinsir, and Terrakion.
* Leftovers are essential on Hippowdon, as it gives Hippowdon passive recovery.
* If additional support for Excadrill and Mega Garchomp is needed, Smooth Rock can be used to increase the sandstorm turns.
* Sand Stream summons sandstorm, which deals chip damage and breaks Focus Sash. It can also support Excadrill, a very common teammate for Hippowdon, however if Mega Venusaur is one of Hippowdon's teammates, be sure to use Sand Force instead, so that Mega Venusaur's Synthesis won't recover less health under sandstorm.
* Running an EV spread of 252 HP / 144 Def / 112 SpD can ensure Hidden Power Ice from Life Orb Thundurus isn't a 2HKO and that Close Combat from +2 Terrakion won't OHKO.

Usage Tips
========

* Hippowdon can check most physical attackers that don't have a super effective move for it, so feel free to switch Hippowdon in on those Pokémon, namely Mega Metagross, Terrakion, Mega Pinsir, and Alolan Marowak, though be aware that the latter can threaten Hippowdon with Will-O-Wisp. The same applies for certain Special Attackers such as Tapu Koko and Nihilego, which also get walled by Hippowdon.
* In the other hand, due to Hippowdon's low speed it may have few opportunities to Slack Off, so be sure to keep it healthy if it still checks an opponent's Pokémon.
* Hippowdon can pivot into Mega Charizard Y or Mega Venusaur to weaken its Solar Beam and Mega Venusaur to reduce the amount of HP it recovers from Synthesis. In case Hippowdon misses a Stone Edge or a Rock Slide against Mega Charizard Y, it should switch out, since Fire Blast can still 2HKO even without sun. In Mega Venusaur's case, Giga Drain is a 2HKO so it should just pivot to disrupt Mega Venusaur's Synthesis recovery and then switch back out not to take damage from its Giga Drain.
* Since Hippowdon has multiple opportunities to set up Stealth Rock throughout a match, there's not much need to worry about Defog and Rapid Spin, and unless setting up Stealth Rock is vital for the match to be won, there isn't usually much need to sacrifice Hippowdon just to get Stealth Rock up.
* Try to keep Hippowdon safe from status ailments at all costs, as they reduce its defensive capabilities.
* Also, be careful against Magic Bounce users such as Mega Sableye, since they can stop Hippowdon from using Stealth Rock.

Team Options
========

* Excadrill is a great partner for Hippowdon, as it provides sandstorm for Excadrill to gain a Speed boost, and under sand, Excadrill can deal with faster Pokemon that threaten Hippowdon, such as Weavile, Tapu Lele, and Greninja. Excadrill also provides Rapid Spin support, which is important for Hippowdon, since Spikes and Toxic Spikes on its field can help wear down Hippowdon.
* Other notable Pokemon that can remove entry hazards include Tapu Fini and Skarmory, with Tapu Fini providing Misty Terrain support to protect Hippowdon from status and Skarmory appreciating Hippowdon's immunity to Electric-type moves.
* Hippowdon really appreciates partners that can take Water, Ice, and Grass moves; notable examples include Heatran, which can lure in Water-types and then surprise them with Bloom Doom, Ferrothorn, Celesteela, Tangrowth, Amoongus, and Mega Venusaur, but if you're running the latter be sure to change Hippowdon's ability to Sand Force.
* Mega Garchomp and Rock-types in general benefit from sandstorm, but they do share some weaknesses with Hippowdon, so be sure to cover them if you choose any of these Pokemon as partners.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

* Running a fully specially defensive set with a Careful Nature allows Hippowdon to check special attackers such as Charizard-Y, Magnezone and Gengar better, but other Pokemon can fulfill this role better most of time, and Hippowdon would have a tougher time against physical attackers if such a set is chosen. However, the selling point of this set is the ability to counter Mega Charizard-Y, since Fire Blast won't 2HKO Hippowdon in sandstorm if running maximum Special Defense.
* Rocky Helmet allows Hippowdon to punish physical attackers; however having Leftovers's passive recovery is generally prefered.
* A fully offensive set may sound appealing, but investment in Hippowdon's bulk is mandatory, as it won't be able to check what it should otherwise, and many Pokémon can perform this role better, such as Garchomp or Landorus-T.

Checks and Counters [WIP]
===================

**Powerful Special Attackers**: Powerful special attackers such as Tapu Lele, Mega Alakazam, Mega Charizard Y, Hoopa-U, Gengar, Choice Specs Magearna, and Giga Drain Volcarona all threaten Hippowdon and can easily OHKO or 2HKO it.

**Water-types**: Greninja, Tapu Fini, Manaphy, and Keldeo can easily take Hippowdon down with their super effective STAB moves, but most of these are scared of Earthquake, though.

**Grass-types**: Tapu Bulu, Mega Venusaur, Serperior, and Tangrowth can threaten Hippowdon with their super effective STAB moves. They also resist Earthquake, so Hippowdon can't do anything to them in return.

**Ice-types**: Weavile, Kyurem-B, and Mamoswine can outspeed Hippowdon and easily OHKO or 2HKO it, though they don't appreciate Stone Edge.

**Status**: Getting burned or hit by Toxic means Hippowdon will be get worn down, reducing its defensive capabilities.

I personally would hesitate to calling Ground a solid defensive typing. The only useful thing it does it grant an Electric immunity while being saddled with common weaknesses (which you've already acknowledged).

Hippowdon has Slack Off, not Recover.

Maybe mention Tapu Bulu as an Ice Fang target. Can't calc right now but I know it does more than tickle it.

I would mention Toxic somewhere as it can be used like whirlwind in the sense that it can cripple Pokemon trying to set up and take advantage of it. Whirlwind should be take he primary slash IMO since it has more general use and Stone Edge is hitting specific threats.

Side note: rocky helmet isn't useless as you're implying on Hippo, should be OO at least.

I think 252 hp / 252 Def is debatably it's best set as the mixed tank has its defenses spread quite thin, although I do agree that avoiding the 2hko on koko is an important benchmark. However, hippo can check koko even without Special Defense investment, and should be paired with bulkier pokemon anyway since it fits balanced playstyle, which should typically carry checks for koko / etc naturally enough to where you don't need to waste an entire 114 special defense for koko, but I want some QC opinion on that!

-Yeah, you're right, Ground isn't that solid defensively, I'm editing that :S
-I meant recovery when I was writing that part, I'm just gonna change it to Slack Off, as you suggested, because "Access to Slack Off" sounds a lot better than "Access to recovery" :P
-A Tapu Bulu without HP Investment only has a chance of being 3HKOed by Ice Fang, not to mention that Bulu would likely Horn Leech and heal much more damage then Ice Fang would do, if it doesnt even OHKO :P So tbh Tapu Bulu isnt really an Ice Fang target imao

-I did mention Toxic... :S
-As of Whirlwind being the primary slash, I think being able to OHKO or severely damage the Flying-types that Hippo checks is more important then phazing an opponent out. Zapdos, Thundurus, Solar Beam Locked Zard-Y and Mega Pinsir are notable Stone Edge targets, and just KOing them is clearly better than just phazing them imao
-Rocky Helmet is not useless, but as I've said Hippo needs Lefties to turn 2HKOes into 3HKOes. But I think OO is fine, I'll add it
-I really think the SpDef investments are very important for Hippo, which would have some trouble checking Electric-types, Gengar and Nihilego otherwise

I kinda disagree witt the notion that ground isn't a solid defensive typing considering that it resists rock, which is not only extremely common but is also extremely dangerous. But the weakness to common types does kinda balance it out, so I guess all I'll say is don't downplay it too much. Also yeah it is pretty nice to be able to completely shut down Electric-type moves and to act as a Volt Switch deterrent, but on the flipside of that Hippowdon can't really stop Volt Switch users that consistently considering that Tapu Koko carries U-turn, Magearna blasts it with Fleur Cannon and Rotom-W carries Hydro Pump--just to name a few off of the top of my head.

Stone Edge is worse than Whirlwind lol. Assuming you are running the listed spread, you don't beat Pinsir considering +2 OHKOs with Return w/ minimal chip (ESPECIALLY in the case of adamant variants), it doesn't hit Zard X as hard as Earthquake, Hippo needs to play mindgames to even get in on Zard Y (Fire Blast 2HKOs even without sun) not to mention that any player with half a brain would be very wary about clicking Solar Beam if they see a Hippowdon in the back. Volcarona almost OHKOs with an unboosted Inferno Overdrive and would never risk setting up directly on a Hippowdon. Salamence sets up to +1 as it uses Stone Edge and chunks with Supersonic Skystrike, as does Dragonite (whereas the rare SubFly variants out-stall Stone Edge and use it for free Dragon Dances); Zapdos takes jack-all and just clicks Toxic; Thundy wins if it NPs as Hippo comes in or if it carries Grass Knot; Talonflame SDs as it comes out and then almost OHKOs with Supersonic Skystrike. The list goes on the point is that it doesn't do much. The key issue with it is that Hippowdon is just so passive that without Whirlwind it just gets used as setup fodder by fucking everything. As if the introduction of Z moves wasn't enough of a headache for its setup matchup as-is, Hippowdon's inability to really do anything about it is completely detrimental. As such it is important that it carries Whirlwind to circumvent this, and quite honestly I am really hard-pressed for situations where I would rather use Stone Edge over it or even over Toxic. The other thing you need to consider is that defensive teams such as the ones that Hippowdon is being run on really can't afford to take chances with setup and often have ways of putting the PHazing to good use.

I think Hippowdon is better able to check a lot of the stuff you are aiming to check with a physically defensive set. 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 SpD impish should be the main spread; this takes 2 Dazzling Gleams from LO Tapu Koko after Stealth Rock and maximises physical bulk to actually allow it to check the things is is being used against. Do I really need to explain this beyond that? It's pretty self-explanatory for a physically defensive monster to run a fully physically defensive EV spread.

Ok, you convinced me, Im adding Whirlwind in the first slash and the EV spread that you suggested :]

To be honest I would even suggest slashing Ice Fang because Garchomp Lando-T Zygarde are both very prevalent in the meta and both can take advantage of you very quickly and these are pokes when given opportunity can be very troublesome also not to mention that Latios with Roost would be impossible to hit so yea it's not even situational and I always use Ice Fang hippo but tbh i have not played the meta a lot so do what u would like.

Would you suggest replace Stone Edge or just add a third slash? personally I think just mentioning Ice Fang in Moves is fine but it's always nice to hear more than one opinion

Remove the Stone Edge slash and drop it to the moves section. It's still more useful than Rock Slide for OHKOing Mega Pinsir and dealing more solid damage to Torn-T, but Rock Slide is still decently reliable so keep that there as well. For Toxic you mention that it leaves Hippo vulnerable to Flying-types, but the only FLying-types that wall you are Skarm/Celes which wall it regardless, and other stuff like Zapdos, Thundurus, and Landorus-t hate being crippled by it.

The overview doesn't really mention anything important that Hippo walls, which I think is pretty important to point out considering how subpar it is this gen. Mega Metagross is a pretty big one, Tapu Koko, Alolan Marowak etc. Don't slash Ice Fang with anything just keep it in moves option, because Ice Fang hits like a bitch anyway and Lando-T, Chomp, and Mence hate being phazed.

You mention that a hazard remover is good for removing SR, but I feel like it would make more sense to mention Spikes or T-Spikes first, considering it's grounded and is heavily crippled by both compared to SR which it resists.

In the C&C section, mention more relevant Water-types; Azu, Volcanion, and Prim are all pretty irrelevant. Tapu Fini is absolutely huge because it is immune to the stray Toxic, takes jack from EQ, and can Scald/Nature's Madness + Taunt it. Keldeo is also way more relevant than those three in general, as is Manaphy. Also just change Ash Greninja to Greninja, considering that both Pokemon destroy it and it kinda assumes both. Also replace Breloom with Tangrowth because it's way more relevant.

After that is done QC 1/3

If the chat told me it was spelled "Stealth Rocks" I would've rejected it on the spot...

...Definitely change that please. The move is "Stealth Rock".

- Mention Mamoswine in Checks and Counters under Ice-types.

Once you have those added this should be okay.

this thing is one of the most passive rockers in the tier, there needs to be at least something that highlights this.

Hippowdon

[OVERVIEW]

*Hippowdon has Colossal physical bulk coupled with a solid defensive typing, allowing it to wall notable Pokémon in SM OU, such as Tapu Koko, Mega Metagross, Alolan Marowak and Mega Pinsir.
*Sand Stream can deal some chip damage and it can support its team.i don't like this line, can you be a little more specific on what this chip damage is supposed to acheive?
*Access to Stealth Rock and Slack Off while still mantaining Offensive presence on top of that allows Hippowdon to act as a great wall in SM OU. very little offensive presence compared to even defensive lando-t, tone this down a lot
*Just enough Special bulk to check Electric-types with little EV investment. such as? this should still be covered
*However, Water, Ice and Grass are pretty common offensively. can you list some users of these moves which give hippo a hard time? like i know grass/water/ice weaknesses hurt it but how prevalent are they in the meta, how common are they, how easily is hippo pressured by them?
*Can end up being set-up fodder if not running Whirlwind.

*Stealth Rock are amazing for wearing the opponent's team, its almost a must on Hippowdon.
*Earthquake is a very solid STAB and it allows Hippowdon to not be passive.
*Slack Off is essential for maintaining Hippo healthy and it allows it not to get worn down during the battle.
*Whirlwind can phaze set-up sweepers or just help wear the opponents team with Stealth Rock and Sandstorm.
*Stone Edge hits most of the Flying-types Hippowdon walls, namely Mega Pinsir, Zapdos and even Thundurus to an extent. add zard y
*Toxic can be used over Whirlwind to wear down opponents. such as? main targets are bulky waters/grasses
*Rock Slide can be used to hit more often than Stone Edge, and while it still picks the OHKO on Zard-Y but it fails to KO Mega Pinsir from full HP and has a chance not 2HKO Pheromosa.
*Ice Fang can be used to surprise Landorus-T, Zygarde-50% and Garchomp, which would otherwise love to set-up on Hippowdon, but it leaves Hippowdon with a unreliable move to hit Flying-types in general, since Ice Fang is very weak.

Set Details
========

*252 HP coupled with 16 SpD EVs ensures HP Ice from LO Koko is not a 2HKO after Stealth Rock. one thing i also found out is that it avoids the ohko from life orb latios without sr which is nice and should be mentioned since it can just recover + lo / toxic stall latios
*The remaining 240 EVs are placed into Defence, allowing Hippowdon to deal with physical attackers better. such as?
*Leftovers are essential for turning 2HKOes into 3HKOes on Hippowdon and for as appealing as Rocky Helmet can look, Leftovers is generally much better.
*However, if your team fits the Sand playstyle, running a Smooth Rock is definitely not a bad idea. i would just reword this i don't like the way it reads, just put something simple like "if additional support for excadrill and mega garchomp is needed, smooth rock is a good option to extend sand turns."
*Sand Stream deals chip damage and break sashes, not to mention it could support Excadrill, a very common teammate for Hippo, but if your team gets annoyed by Hippowdon's Sand, running Sand Force is perfectly fine. mention that basically only venu is something you would run sand force for.
*Running a spread of 252 HP / 144 Def / 112 SpD can ensure HP Ice from LO Thundurus isn't a 2HKO and that +2 Terrakion won't OHKO with Close Combat.

Usage Tips
========

*Hippowdon can check most physical attackers that don't have a Super-Effective Move for it, so feel free to switch Hippo in on those kind of Pokémon. Same applies for certain Special Attackers such as Thundurus, Nihilego and Gengar.the given ev spread means hippowdon isn't a good answer to gengar or thundy. also list some stuff hippo is expected to switch into because this doesn't tell me what i should be using hippo to beat
*In the other hand, due to Hippo's low speed it may have few opportunities to Slack Off, so be sure to keep it healthy if it still checks an opponent's Pokémon.
*Hippowdon can pivot into either Mega Charizard-Y or Mega Venusaur to weaken Zard's Solar Beam and reduce the amount of HP Venusaur recover's from Synthesis. In case you miss a Stone Edge or a Rock Slide against Charizard-Y, Hippowdon should switch out, since Fire Blast can still 2HKO even without the Sun. On Venusaur's case, Giga Drain is also a 2HKO so Hippowdon should just pivot do disrupt Venu's Synthesis and then switch back out not to take damage from its Giga Drain.
*Since Hippowdon has multiple opportunities to set-up Stealth Rock throughout a match, there's not much need to worry about either Defog or Rapid Spin, and unless its vital for the match to be won, there isn't usually much need to sacrifice Hippowdon just get rocks up.

Team Options
========

*Excadrill is a great partner for Hippowdon. Hippo can provide the Sand for Excadrill to gain a speed boost, and under sand, Excadrill can deal with faster Pokémon that threaten Hippo, such as Weavile, Tapu Lele and Greninja.
*Excadrill also provides Rapid Spin support, which is important for Hippowdon, since Spikes and Toxic Spikes on its field can turn many 2HKOes into OHKOes and 3HKOes into 2HKOes, other Pokémon that can remove hazards include Tapu Fini and Skarmory, with Tapu Fini providing Misty Terrain support to protect Hippowdon from status and Skarmory appreciating Hippowdon's ability to be immune to Electric-type Moves.
*Hippowdon really appreciates partners that can take Water, Ice and Grass moves. Notable examples include Magearna, Ferrothorn, Toxapex and Mega Venusaur, but if you're running Mega Venusaur be sure to change Hippowdon's ability to Sand Force. Magearna is also notable because Assault Vest variants can deal with Tapu Lele and Mega Alakazam, which threaten Hippowdon with Psychic. i think you can give better examples of blanket checks for types, when i use hippowdon on a bulky team, magearna isn't really one of the first things i would go to because its more an offensive pivot if anything. just simply mention blanket checks for these types because you're not really getting things across here. grasses like tang/venu/amoong for waters - tang + amoong have regen which make them a lot more effective than venu and still check the things they're supposed to, said grasses can also check opposing grass types. heatran can bait in these water types while also being a good answer to grass types (baits waters too and knocks around passive shit like sableye). steels, cele in particular is great with hippo because it checks a shit ton of faster mons that threaten it and they have fantastic synergy together.
*Mega Garchomp and Rock-types in general benefit from Sand, but they do share some weaknesses with Hippowdon, so be sure to cover that if you choose any of these as parterns.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

*Running a fully Specially Defensive with a Careful Nature allows Hippo to check Special Attackers such as Charizard-Y, Magnezone and Nihilego better, but other Pokémon can fulfill this role better most of time, not to mention that Hippowdon would have a tougher time against physical attackers if such a set is chosen, however, the selling point of this set is the abilty to counter Charizard-Y, since Fire Blast won't 2HKO under sand if running max SpDef.
*Rocky Helmet allows Hippo to punish physical attackers, but as stated before, Leftovers can turn important 2HKOes into 3HKOes for Hippo.
*A fully Offensive set may sound appealing, but investment in bulk is mandatory on Hippo, as it won't be able to check what it should otherwise, not to mention that many Pokémon can perform this role better, such as Garchomp or Landorus-T.

Checks and Counters [WIP]

**Powerful Special Attackers**: Tapu Lele, Charizard Y and Hoopa-U all threaten Hippowdon and can easily OHKO or 2HKO it. list more

**Water-Types**: Greninja, Tapu Fini, Manaphy and Keldeo can easily take Hippowdon down with their Super-Effecticive STAB, most of these are scared of Earthquake though.

**Grass-Types**: Tapu Bulu, Breloom, Mega Venusaur and Serperior can also destroy Hippowdon with their Super-Effective STABs, not to mention that this type resists Earthquake, and Hippowdon can't do anything in return.

**Ice-Types**: Weavile, Kyurem-B and Mamoswine can easily take Hippowdon down as well, they don't appreciate Stone Edge, though, but considering all three outspeed and can easily OHKO or 2HKO.

**Status**: Getting Burned or Badly Poisoned means Hippowdon will be getting worned down and that will clearly reduce its defensive capabilities, try to keep Hippo safe from status at all cost.

Moves

* Stealth Rock is amazing for wearing the opponent's team down;(add semicolon) it's,(RC) its almost always a must on Hippowdon.
* Earthquake is a very solid STAB move and it allows Hippowdon to not be passive (that's it? Does it hit notable Pokemon and switch-ins? List them).
* Slack Off is essential for maintaining Hippo keeping Hippowdon healthy,(AC) and it allows it Hippowdon to not to get worn down during the battle.
* Whirlwind can phaze set-up setup sweepers or just and help wear down the opponents opponent's team with Stealth Rock and Sandstorm sandstorm.
* Stone Edge hits most of the Flying-types Hippowdon walls, namely Mega Pinsir, Zapdos,(AC) and even Mega Charizard Y and Thundurus to an extent.
* Rock Slide can be used over Stone Edge for more accuracy, and while it still picks up the OHKO on Zard-Y Mega Charizard Y,(AC) it fails to KO Mega Pinsir from full HP and has a chance not to 2HKO Pheromosa.
* Toxic can be used over Whirlwind to wear down foes opponents, such as Defensive defensive Landorus-T, Tangrowth,(AC) and Mantine.
* Ice Fang can be used to surprise Landorus-T, Zygarde-50% Zygarde,(AC) and Garchomp, which would otherwise love to set-up set up on Hippowdon, but it leaves Hippowdon with a unreliable move to hit Flying-types in general, since Ice Fang is very weak.

Set Details
========

* 252 HP EVs coupled with 16 SpD Special Defense EVs ensures HP Ice ensure that Hidden Power Ice from LO Life Orb Tapu Koko is not a 2HKO after Stealth Rock and that LO Latios' Life Orb Latios's Draco Meteor cannot OHKO before Stealth Rock, meaning that Hippowdon can Recover Stall stall the latter, since Draco Meteor drops Latios' Latios's Special Attack stat,(RC) just be careful since a Critical Hit will always OHKO. (not needed)
* The remaining 240 EVs are placed into Defence, allowing Hippowdon to deal with physical attackers better, such as Mega Metagross, Alolan Marowak, Mega Pinsir, and Terrakion,(RC) better.
* Leftovers are essential for turning 2HKOes into 3HKOes on Hippowdon,(AC) as it gives Hippowdon passive recovery and lets it avoid the 2HKO from...(here you would insert the specific move(s) since you never gave examples. You also forgot to mention that Leftovers gives it passive recovery, which is the main reason to use it) and for as (New sentence) As appealing as Rocky Helmet can look, Leftovers is generally better.
* If additional support for Excadrill and Mega Garchomp is needed, Smooth Rock can be used to increase the Sand sandstorm turns.
* Sand Stream summons sandstorm(AC) which deals chip damage and breaks Focus Sash.(period) break sashes,(RC) not to mention it (you just did) It can also could support Excadrill, a very common teammate for Hippo Hippowdon;(add semicolon) however, but if Mega Venusaur is one fo of Hippowdon's teammates, be sure to use Sand Force instead,(RC) so that way Mega Venusaur's Synthesis won't recover less health under Sand sandstorm.
* Running a an EV spread of 252 HP / 144 Def / 112 SpD can ensure that Hidden Power HP Ice from LO Life Orb Thundurus isn't a 2HKO and that Close Combat from +2 Terrakion won't OHKO with Close Combat.

Usage Tips
========

* Hippowdon can check most physical attackers that don't have a Super-Effective Move super effective move for it, so feel free to switch Hippo Hippowdon in on those kind of Pokémon Pokemon, namely Mega Metagross, Terrakion, Mega Pinsir,(AC) and Alolan Marowak, though be aware that the latter can threaten Hippowdon with Will-O-Wisp. The same Same applies for certain Special Attackers special attackers such as Tapu Koko and Nihilego, which also get walled by Hippo Hippowdon.
* In the other hand,(RC) due Due to Hippowdon's low speed Speed,(AC) it may have few opportunities to use Slack Off, so be sure to keep it healthy if it still checks an opponent's Pokémon Pokemon.
* Hippowdon can pivot into either Mega Charizard-(RH)Y or Mega Venusaur to weaken its Zard's Solar Beam and Mega Venusaur to reduce the amount of HP Venusaur recover's it recovers from Synthesis. In the case you miss Hippowdon misses a Stone Edge or a Rock Slide against Mega Charizard-(RH)Y, Hippowdon it should switch out, since Fire Blast can still 2HKO it even without sun the Sun. On In Mega Venusaur's case, Giga Drain is also a 2HKO on Hippowdon,(AC) so Hippowdon it should just pivot do to disrupt Venu's Mega Venusaur's Synthesis recovery and then switch back out not to take damage from its Giga Drain.
* Since Hippowdon has multiple opportunities to set-up set up Stealth Rock throughout a match, there's not much need to worry about either Defog or and Rapid Spin, and unless its Hippowdon is vital for the match to be won, there isn't usually much need to sacrifice Hippowdon it just to get rocks Stealth Rock up.
* Try to keep Hippowdon safe from status ailments at all costs,(AC) as they reduce its defensive capabilities. (see last comment)
* Also,(AC) be careful against Magic Bounce users,(RC) such as Mega Sableye, since they can stop Hippowdon from using Stealth Rock.

Team Options
========

* Excadrill is a great partner for Hippowdon,(AC) as it provides sandstorm.(remove period) Hippo can provide the Sand for Excadrill to gain a speed Speed boost, and under sand, Excadrill can deal with faster Pokémon Pokemon that threaten Hippo Hippowdon, such as Weavile, Tapu Lele,(AC) and Greninja. Excadrill also provides Rapid Spin support,(AC) which is important for Hippowdon,(AC) since Spikes and Toxic Spikes can turn many 2HKOes into OHKOes and 3HKOes into 2HKOes.(period)
* Excadrill also provides Rapid Spin support, which is important for Hippowdon, since Spikes and Toxic Spikes on its field can turn many 2HKOes into OHKOes and 3HKOes into 2HKOes,(RC) other Pokémon (this can go above)
* Other Pokemon
that can remove entry hazards include Tapu Fini and Skarmory, with Tapu Fini providing Misty Terrain support to protect Hippowdon from status and Skarmory appreciating Hippowdon's ability to be immune immunity to Electric-type Moves moves.
* Hippowdon really appreciates partners that can take Water, Ice,(AC) and Grass moves;(add semicolon) notable.(remove period) Notable examples include Heatran, which can lure in Water-types and then surprise them with Bloom Doom, Ferrothorn, Celesteela, Tangrowth, Amoongus, and Mega Venusaur, but if you're running the latter be sure to change Hippowdon's ability to Sand Force.
* Mega Garchomp and Rock-types in general benefit from Sand sandstorm, but they do share some weaknesses with Hippowdon, so be sure to cover that them if you choose any of these Pokemon as parterns partners.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

* Running a fully Specially Defensive specially defensive set with a Careful Nature allows Hippo Hippowdon to check Special Attackers special attackers such as Mega Charizard-(RH)Y, Magnezone,(AC) and Nihilego better, but other Pokémon Pokemon can fulfill this role better most of time, and not to mention that Hippowdon would have a tougher time against physical attackers if such a set is chosen.(period) However, however,(RC) the selling point of this set is the abilty ability to counter Mega Charizard-(RH)Y, since Fire Blast won't 2HKO Hippowdon in sandstorm under sand if running max SpDef maximum Special Defense.
* Rocky Helmet allows Hippo Hippowdon to punish physical attackers, but as stated before,(RC) Leftovers can turn important 2HKOes into 3HKOes for Hippowdon Hippo.
* A fully Offensive offensive set may sound appealing, but investment in Hippowdon's bulk is mandatory on Hippo, as it won't be able to check what it should otherwise, not to mention that and many Pokémon Pokemon can perform this role better, such as Garchomp or and Landorus-T.

Checks and Counters [WIP]
===================

**Powerful Special Attackers**: Powerful special attackers,(AC) such as Tapu Lele, Mega Alakazam, Mega Charizard Y,(AC) and Hoopa-U, Gengar, Choice Specs Magearna, and Giga Drain Volcarona all threaten Hippowdon and can easily OHKO or 2HKO it.

**Water-Types Water-types**: Greninja, Tapu Fini, Manaphy, and Keldeo can easily take Hippowdon down with their Super-Effecticive super effective STAB moves, but most of these are scared of Earthquake,(AC) though.

**Grass-Types Grass-types**: Tapu Bulu, Mega Venusaur, Serperior, and Tangrowth can also destroy threaten Hippowdon with their Super-Effective STABs super effective STAB moves.(period),(RC) They also resist not to mention that this type resists Earthquake, and so Hippowdon can't do anything to them in return.

**Ice-Types Ice-types**: Weavile, Kyurem-B, and Mamoswine can outspeed Hippowdon and easily OHKO or 2HKO it take Hippowdon down as well, though they don't appreciate Stone Edge,(RC) though,(RC) but considering all three outspeed and can easily OHKO or 2HKO. (This didn't make sense and could have went at the beginning anyway)

**Status**: Getting Burned burned or hit by Toxic Badly Poisoned means Hippowdon will get be getting worned worn down,(AC) reducing and that will clearly reduce its defensive capabilities,(RC) try to keep Hippo safe from status at all cost (moved this to usage tips).

Next time, please use the Spelling and Grammar Standards when proofreading your analyses. There was an obscene number of errors that could have easily been prevented had you proofread this. The amount of times I had to correct "Hippo" to Hippowdon or "Zard-Y" to Mega Charizard Y was ridiculous. You showed very little effort in checking this; at least take a couple of minutes of your time to spare the annoyance of always correcting errors that shouldn't have been there in the first place, and I spent over an hour doing that for you for only one set. I understand if you write "rocks" and "STABs" or make other mistakes, and I don't expect you to catch all of them, but you should know that words like "Hippo" or phrases like "HP Ice from LO Koko" are not acceptable. Most GPers don't have the patience to check an analysis like this, so for future reference, please go over it yourself before sending it off to GP. And if you're a new analysis writer or someone unfamiliar with the analysis process, then that should be more of an incentive to use the Spelling and Grammar Standards and proofread your work.

Thank you for your understanding.
