ORAS OU Into the storm (dual weather offence) Peaked 1500+

sorry for the shiny spam haha my laptop only is letting me see the shiny sprites. Anyways with thatr cleared up welcome to my third rate my team! you probably dont know my others but moving on. This rmt is based on dual weather. In others words sand offense+sun offence. I had great success on the ou ladder. (of course the ou ladder is getting worse and worse...looking at you life orb bliss in 1400s) Ive so far managed to climb 1500+ with this team and i must say its quite the team. Before i go into depth about each pokemons roles i want to get a few things across. why am i using normal venusaur? well when i decided to do dual weather i wanted somthing that can abuse the sun sadly this is no longer b/w so you limited. Venu was the best choice as its actual a underrated sun sweeper. any ways im not gonna rant about that any more so on with the team!

Igneous (Charizard) @ Charizardite Y

Ability: Blaze

Shiny: Yes

EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

Modest Nature

- Fire Blast

- Solar Beam

- Focus Blast

- Roost

Alright first up we got charizard y. Zard y serves as a incredible wallbreaker for the team that breaks down threats such as ferro who gives the team trouble with ease and abuses the sun. Modest spread is for extra power and really theres next to no reason to run timid anyways as you dont really outspeed any notable threats..seriously trollfreak whats with the no speed boost? For the moves you got fire blast which serves as zards main stab as well as a nuke. Now fire blast is INCREDIBLE on zard y becuase you got a stab fire type move coming off of 466 sp.a with the sun. You pretty much dent everything even resisted things with this move. (stuff like lati take 39-40% from it) Solar beam is really cool as it allows zard to beat things such as azu,rotom-w as well as starmie which is becoming more popular and it also allows you to hit ground types and rock types hard. Focus miss....i mean blast is a great but unreliable coverage move. The main reason to have it is to hit t-tar hard and make heatran cry. For the record it 2ohkos sp.def tran and ohkos all offensive tran. Roost is the final move of choice which helps for recovering off any damage taken. If you wanna hit tran harder earthquake is a possible replacement for focus blast but im not sure if it ohkos tran as i dont have a damage calc atm.

Old Drill (Excadrill) @ Air Balloon

Ability: Sand Rush

EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe

Adamant Nature

- Earthquake

- Iron Head

- Rapid Spin

- Swords Dance

Alright on to excadrill. Excadrill simply put is a great pokemon. On dual weather i had the idea of using 2 weather abusers rather then just tar+exca. Anyways this is your standred set the idea behind it is to get sand up and then send drill in and wreck havoc. On the team i dont really have that much to do to faries aside from zard, venu and drill so i need to be careful in how i play him. Drill helps get rid of pesky faries for keldeo and t-tar as well as get rid of mons that zard might have trouble with. Adamant nature was picked becuase thanks to sand rush you can outspeed pretty much the entire unboosted meta including stuff like mega lopp and the best part is you ohko it with eq if they high jump kick you. Eq is for basic stab and hit hits really hard one of my best ways of dealing with heatran aside from keldeo. Iron head is for fairies and for neutral coverage. I chose rapid spin over using defog on lati instead of using rock slide becuase drill often forces more switches while sands up so i can make better use of it and i dont need to risk being trapped by bisharp. Last swords dance is used to boost and +2 exca in sand is VERY deadly even ferro needs to be careful around it.

Gojira (Tyranitar) @ Smooth Rock

Ability: Sand Stream

EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD

Relaxed Nature

- Stealth Rock

- Stone Edge

- Pursuit

- Ice Beam

3rd we go tyra banks...wait thats not his name... anyways next we got tyranitar. T-tar serves as the team stealth rock setter and beats the living crap out of defensive landorus-t. Why? you ice beam them on the stealth rock then they try and hard switch or u-turn and BAM you pursuit them. The spread allows me to help out with that by allowing me to live the eq better in case that wont happen and i take u-turn very well assuming situation one happens. I chose smooth rock as i wanted to get the most out of sand as possible. T-tar also serves as my bird spam check but sadly not a mega pinser check so you gotta be careful around them. Set is really simple. Rocks are my main hazzard and thanks to tars bulk its really easy to set them up. Stone edge serves as my basic stab and even though im defensive it still hits really hard. Pursuit allows me to trap the latis giving them a hard time to defog my rocks and allows me to pressure them to draco while i set up rocks. Finally we got that lure ice beam. Now thanks to how versatile t-tar is you can run a massive amount of coverage moves to fit your team. I chose ice beam so i cant get the jump on landorus-t. Ice beam also allows t-tar to beat gliscor as well as other physical walls weak to ice.

Flower POWER (Venusaur) @ Life Orb

Ability: Chlorophyll

EVs: 84 Atk / 252 SpA / 172 Spe

Mild Nature

- Solar Beam/Giga Drain

- Earthquake

- Sludge Bomb

- Hidden Power [Fire]

Alright on to our fourth pokemon. Now dont judge venu just yet. Were going old school and by old school i mean gen 5 hehe. This venu set is actually not all that bad. Physical mega venu is a blast from the past and while its not as good as it was in gen 5 it still has a niche this gen. Why? you get the jump on things like heatran , scizor and ferrothorn and the latis all of which are common switch ins to mega venu as well as normal venu. Eq allows you to ohko tran and hp fire seriously dents the rest. The problem with sun sweeping Venu is that it suffers from massive 4mss so you can customize the set to your liking. Power whip is a nice strong stab that hits everything neutrally hard of course be wary of that accuracy. you can use lol seed bomb or petal blizzard but thats just plain stupid. Earthquake as mentioned above allows you to ohko heatran. synthesis is used so that you can recover the recoil damage and damage as a whole back. Now the final slot is really up to you. You can run hidden power fire so you can go up against ferrothorn and scizor which a sun boosted hp fire hurts them hard but you cant hit faries this way and you cant touch the latis. If you run sludge bomb you cant hit fairies but it becomes hard to beat ferro (you could spam eq i guess) and scizor this way. And last you can run knock off over the two so you can hit the latis but you cant hit everything else. The last move really depends on your team.

Justice (Keldeo-Resolute) @ Leftovers

Ability: Justified

EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

Timid Nature

- Secret Sword

- Calm Mind

- Scald

- Substitute

Next we got keldeo. Now im pretty sure by now you know how good sub+calm mind keldeo is. Keldeo forces several switches which gives you several times to set a sub. Naturally i run leftovers as one im using this thing when sands up and 2 i need to get back the damage i take from making a sub. This set does get hard walled by the latis as you dont have icy wind to hit them with on the switch so remember to send tyranitar in to remove them first. The spread is realy simple and of course really obvious so im not gonna go to much into it. The set is VERY simple. Sub is for easing predictions and of course you set up after that. Next you got your basic stabs in secret sword and scald. Hey at least you maul chansey even more with this set.

rei (Latias) @ Life Orb

Ability: Levitate

Shiny: Yes

EVs: 72 HP / 184 SpA / 252 Spe

Timid Nature

- Psyshock

- Draco Meteor

- Roost/hp fire

- Healing Wish

Why must i name my latis after persona q characters..... Alright by now your probably just wanting to move on to the importable so ill make this quick. We got latias here. Now why am i using latias AND excadrill when it should be 3 attacks+roost latios? Its simple really healing wish. Healing wish is pretty much my only reason for using latias as it REALLY helps to have exca or venu or heck even keldeo or zardy fully healed. Anyways spread is nothing special. Now the set while also being simple is more or less up to you. You CAN use latios instead of latias if you want but i prefer healing wish. Now naturally psyshock and draco are your stabs its move number 3 you should pay attention to. Its really up to you what you want. roost or hp fire. Roost allows you to heal off LO damage while hp fire allows you to beat stuff such as ferro. The whole point of this set is to get as much damage off then heal off when needed and then once latis job is done or a bisharp comes in you healing wish and send in keldeo (assuming its weakned) this allows you to keep up your momentum as grab a free sub.

Phew that was a ton of text for me to write. Anyways be sure to leave a few comments on things i can do to fix the team if changes are needed! Happy Rating!

Hey there, this seems like a pretty neat team as dual weather is pretty rare nowadays might try the team out later but one thing im noticing is that the team is pretty weak to thundurus as nothing really wants to take it on if sand isnt up, a few things i would suggest to help with that is making keldeo a scarf varient and/or changing the ev spread on latias to 72 hp/252 speed and the rest in special attack to make it a better switch in.

ah thanks that means a lot. Personally i like using sub+calm mind on this team as the lefties cancelling sand is really nice. But im for sure going to change the spread to help with thundy. If you plan on using this team (seriously feel free to) the venu set is really up to you . You can change it to a special mixed or physical mixed.

You could try to Clefable > Venusaur.

Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 172 Def / 84 SpD
Calm Nature
- Moonblast
- Flamethrower / Fire Blast
- Soft-Boiled
- Calm Mind / Thunder Wave

im not 100% sure on replacing venu. Ill do some testing with venu more before thinking about switching it. But im a bit meh with replacing it simply becuase venu in the sun is actually a threat. Very underated but it works.

Sun Solerbeams are great!

Flower POWER (Venusaur) @ Life Orb

been working with the team and as far as the venusaur set goes, this is what i think you should be using

Flower POWER (Venusaur) @ Life Orb
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 84 Atk / 252 SpA / 172 Spe
Mild Nature
- Solar Beam/Giga Drain
- Earthquake
- Sludge Bomb
- Hidden Power [Fire]

You only really need enough attack on venu to ohko heatran with rocks up since its the only thing I can think off the top of my head that resists the rest of your moves. With 172 speed you should still be able to outspeed most things once sun is up, and finally I took out synthesis since most of the time venu is out it should be hitting the other team with attacks while sun is still up. If you still use venu on the team this what I think will work the best. :]

yeah i did some calcing and you technically only need 52 attack evs to have a 81.3% chance of ohkoing tran. i do in fact agree that you dont need recovery so im will try it out. i have healing wish support so i guess that kinda helps. Also id love to have feedback when you guys use the team as it help to know how it works for others.

Cool looking team. I only have a small question regarding your moveset on Venusaur. Perhaps you already answered and I missed it or I'm missing some move illegality my team builder isn't recognizing, but why aren't you running Weather Ball over Hidden Power Fire? It's a stronger fire type attack and if it's because you're worried about keeping sun up then why are you running Solarbeam. Nice looking tea otherwise. I like the concept of dual weather, it's a little gimmicky but it seems fun.

Edit: Nvm forgot chloro + Weather Ball is illegal. My bad XD

I guess you can run the old gen 5 relic that swept my stall team.

Flower POWER (Venusaur) @ Life Orb
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 84 Atk / 252 SpA / 172 Spe
Mild Nature
- Giga Drain
- Earthquake
- Sludge Bomb / Growth
- Hidden Power [Fire] / Growth

oh yea the whole weather ball thing got fixed, Just sub it for hp fire instead sorry for the mixup. As for the other venu set i prefer the solarbeam/giga drain one. Yea it is a bit gimiky but its got potential. Its no longer gen 5 but hey its more then usable.
