Yokatta...
Overview
########
  • Great Special Attack and good Speed.
  • Dry Skin for more switch-in opportunities, especially against bulky Water-types.
  • Access to Lovely Kiss and Nasty Plot, among other support options.
  • Great coverage options and neat STABs.
  • Really frail; scary 65 / 35 / 95 bulk.
  • Weak to Stealth Rock and vulnerable to all entry hazards.
  • Hates priority.
Seduction Smasher
########
name: Seduction Smasher
move 1: Lovely Kiss
move 2: Nasty Plot
move 3: Ice Beam
move 4: Substitute
ability: Dry Skin
item: Leftovers
nature: Timid
evs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

Moves
========
  • Lovely Kiss puts a Pokemon to sleep and gives Jynx set up opportunities to use Nasty Plot and Substitute.
  • Nasty Plot obviously to boost Special Attack.
  • Ice Beam isn't immune to anything and has good neutral coverage.
  • Substitute is a safe way to avoid status and it can set up Substitute on bulky Water-types like Alomomola.
Set Details
========
  • Max / max EV spread to hit hard and outpace as many Pokemon as it can manage.
  • Timid needed to outspeed threats.
  • Dry Skin enables Jynx to switch into a predicted Scald and other Water-type moves.
  • Leftovers to recover health since Substitute is run.
Usage Tips
========
  • Get it in safely by switching into a predicted Water-type move, U-turn, Volt Switch, Memento, etc., or after a teammate has fainted.
  • Get it in against walls, especially bulky Water-types, to hit them with Lovely Kiss.
  • Set up Nasty Plot and Substitute when the opposing Pokemon is asleep.
Team Options
========
  • Defoggers and spinners such as Gligar and Hitmontop.
  • U-turn and Volt Switch users like Swellow and Jolteon to get Jynx in safely.
  • Sticky Web support from Shuckle can be amazing for Jynx to outspeed threats that would normally KO it. Shouldn't be used with Defog support of course.
  • Dugtrio to trap Steel-types and wipe them out with Earthquake.
  • Skuntank for Defog and trapping and/or KOing Doublade with Pursuit and Sucker Punch.
  • LO Hitmonlee for Rapid Spin and wiping out most bulky Pokemon.
Choice Scarf
########
name: Choice Scarf
move 1: Psyshock / Psychic
move 2: Ice Beam
move 3: Lovely Kiss
move 4: Trick / Focus Blast
ability: Dry Skin
item: Choice Scarf
nature: Timid
evs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

Moves
========

  • Ice Beam for STAB and Ice is pretty good offensively.
  • Lovely Kiss to quickly make something fall asleep.
  • Trick cripples walls severely.
  • Focus Blast nails Steel-type switch-ins.
  • Shadow Ball and HP Fire can be run in place of Focus Blast, the former for Doublade and other bulky Ghost- and Psychic-types while the latter for Durant and Escavalier.
Set Details
========
  • EV spread to outspeed as many threats as possible while hitting hard.
  • Timid for as much Speed Jynx can manage.
  • Choice Scarf lets Jynx mitigate its average Speed stat.
  • Dry Skin gives Jynx ample opportunities to switch in.
Usage Tips
========
  • Use to revenge kill and clean up late-game.
  • Lovely Kiss is excellent to use early in the match.
  • Trick should be used against walls like Alomomola.
  • It's difficult to get in safely, so switch in on a predicted Water-type move, after an ally has fainted, or a teammate U-turn / Volt Switch out.
Team Options
========
  • Wallbreakers such as Clawitzer and Banded Durant to break through walls that Jynx can't and make cleaning easier for it.
  • Defoggers and spinners such as Golbat and Claydol to get rid of hazards.
  • Skuntank can defog and trap Doublade, among other Ghost- and Psychic-types.
  • Dugtrio to trap bulky Steel-types and Skuntank, who ironically causes trouble for Jynx.
Lovely Kiss + 3 Attacks
########
name: Lovely Kiss + 3 Attacks
move 1: Lovely Kiss
move 2: Ice Beam

  • Ice Beam is STAB.
  • Psyshock hits special walls but Psychic has more power. Psychic is better against things like Alomomola. Both get STAB.
  • Focus Blast hits Steel-types.
  • Shadow Ball and HP Fire can be run over Focus Blast, the former to hit Bronzong and Doublade while the latter hits Durant and Escavalier harder.
Set Details
========

  • Fun early- to mid-game.
Team Options
========
  • Rapid Spin and Defog support from Hitmons and Skuntank and stuff.
  • Dugtrio to hurt things like Doublade and other bulky Steel-types. Is also a good answer to Skuntank.

Other Options
########
  • Calm Mind.
  • Mean Look, Lovely Kiss, and Perish Song.
  • Anti lead with Taunt, Lovely Kiss, and dual screens.
  • Energy Ball / Grass Knot.
Checks & Counters
########

**Entry Hazards**: All forms of entry hazards, especially Sticky Web and Stealth Rock, will put Jynx on a timer and at times make it unusable.

**Fast Scarfers**: Fast scarfers like Durant and Delphox can easily outspeed and KO Jynx.

**Yanmega**: After a speed boost or two, it can outpace Jynx and bypass its Substitute with Bug Buzz.

**Priority**: Shadow Sneak from Doublade and Sucker Punch from Skuntank can easily KO Jynx. Skuntank must be wary of Lovely Kiss and Substitute. Mach Punch from the hitmons also hurt.

**Bulky Steel-types**: If lacking Focus Blast, Registeel walls hard. If lacking Shadow Ball, Bronzong and Doublade wall hard. AV Escavalier checks Jynx really well.

Overview
########

With Jynx's high Special Attack and Speed stats, its no wonder it was so threatening in previous generations. While it faces competition from other Psychic-types such as Delphox and Meloetta, it sets itself apart with Lovely Kiss, which can quickly put something to sleep and enable Jynx to set up Nasty Plot with ease. It also carries an array of coverage options and excellent STAB moves to take advantage of its offensive stats. What makes Jynx stand out the most is its ability Dry Skin, which lets it switch into most bulky Water-types with impunity. Jynx also has a great match-up against lead Omastar as it can outspeed it and put it to sleep before it gets the chance to set hazards. Unfortunately, Jynx is set back by its pathetic bulk and vulnerability to priority attacks. It's also weak to Stealth Rock and the omnipresent Knock Off, which lower its life span immensely. While Jynx's Speed is good, it isn't by any means incredible, as it is easily outsped by threats such as Durant and Delphox.

Lovely Kiss + 3 Attacks
########
name: Lovely Kiss + 3 Attacks
move 1: Lovely Kiss
move 2: Ice Beam
move 3: Psyshock / Psychic
move 4: Focus Blast
ability: Dry Skin
item: Life Orb
evs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
nature: Timid

Moves
========

Lovely Kiss enables Jynx to pound through opposing Pokemon while something is asleep. Ice Beam is a good STAB with nothing immune to it and few resisting it. The third move is a toss up between two Psychic STABs. Psyshock hits special walls like Aromatisse much harder than its other moves while Psychic can enable Jynx to break through Pokemon like Alomomola. Focus Blast crushes most Steel-types that would otherwise be able to wall Jynx. Shadow Ball can be run over Focus Blast to nail Doublade and Delphox on the switch and enables Jynx to hit bulky Psychic-types such as Cresselia and Slowking for super effective damage. Hidden Power Fire hits Escavalier and Durant much harder than any of Jynx's other coverage moves, being able to 2HKO and OHKO after Stealth Rock respectively.

Set Details
========

The given EV spread and nature gives Jynx enough Speed to speed tie with other positive natured base 95s while hitting very hard. Life Orb gives Jynx much more power, giving it the ability to 2HKO Alomomola and Registeel while potentially OHKOing Rhyperior. Dry Skin can give Jynx a free switch-in on a predicted Water-type move so it can put the user to sleep. Focus Sash can be run over Life Orb to almost guarantee that it can put something to sleep assuming hazards are not up on its side of the field and is especially useful against Omastar leads.

Usage Tips
========

Jynx should put something to sleep as soon as it comes in, then go for the offensive. Jynx should get in safely as its bulk is incredibly poor, and it can get in by switching into a predicted Water-type move, having a teammate with U-turn or Volt Switch get Jynx in, or coming in after a teammate faints. This set is effective early- to mid-game.

Team Options
========

Jynx appreciates Rapid Spin and Defog support from Pokemon such as Hitmonlee and Shiftry as it doesn't like taking heavy Stealth Rock damage. Dugtrio is an excellent teammate as it can trap most of the Steel-, Fire-, and Rock-types that threaten Jynx and potentially wipe them out. Wallbreakers such as Choice Band Durant and Choice Specs Clawitzer can handle exceptionally bulky Pokemon that Jynx can't do much to such as Cresselia and Cofagrigus.

Choice Scarf
########
name: Choice Scarf
move 1: Psyshock / Psychic
move 2: Ice Beam
move 3: Lovely Kiss
move 4: Trick / Focus Blast
ability: Dry Skin
item: Choice Scarf
evs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
nature: Timid

Moves
========

Psyshock and Psychic are both STAB, but Psyshock hits special walls and Assault Vest users hard while Psychic hits bulky Water-types like Alomomola. Ice Beam is a second STAB and hits some bulky Pokemon such as Druddigon, Gligar, and Rhyperior. Lovely Kiss in conjunction with a Choice Scarf makes for a really fast sleep inducing move. Trick is excellent at crippling walls while Focus Blast can be used to hit Steel-types on the switch. Shadow Ball and Hidden Power Fire can be run in place of Focus Blast; the former hits Doublade and other bulky Ghost- and Psychic-types while the latter hits Durant and Escavalier.

Set Details
========

With maximum Special Attack and Speed EVs with a Choice Scarf, Jynx outspeeds the entire unboosted tier as well as some other Choice Scarf users like Emboar and hits hard. A Timid nature is used to outspeed as many threats as it can manage, including opposing Choice Scarf users without a Speed boosting nature. Dry Skin can give Jynx a free switch-in on a predicted Water-type move, especially against bulky Water-types such as Alomomola and Jellicent.

Usage Tips
========

This set is excellent at revenge killing and cleaning up late-game. Jynx should use Lovely Kiss early on to cripple an opposing Pokemon quickly and for a duration of the match. It should use Trick to render a wall helpless for the duration of the match and is especially helpful if it teammates need it removed. Due to Jynx's poor bulk, it needs to safely switch-in; otherwise, it is at risk of being OHKOd.

Team Options
========

Wallbreakers such as Clawitzer and Banded Durant can break through walls that Jynx can't and make cleaning up late-game easier for it. Defog users and spinners such as Golbat and Claydol can get rid of hazards for Jynx as Stealth Rock damage is easily racked up otherwise. Skuntank is an excellent teammate as it can Defog hazards away as well as trap Doublade, among other Ghost- and Psychic-types. Dugtrio can trap bulky Steel-types as well as Sucker Punch users such as Skuntank and Emboar.

Seduction Smasher
########
name: Seduction Smasher
move 1: Lovely Kiss
move 2: Nasty Plot
move 3: Ice Beam
move 4: Substitute
ability: Dry Skin
item: Leftovers
evs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
nature: Timid

Moves
========

Lovely Kiss puts the opponent to sleep so Jynx can proceed to set up with Nasty Plot and Substitute. Nasty Plot increases the damage output of Ice Beam and puts offensive pressure on the opponent. Ice Beam is Jynx's best attack as it isn't immune by anything and it gets good neutral coverage, only being resisted by Steel-, Fire-, Ice-, and Water-types, most of which are not commonly used defensively. Substitute is a safe way to avoid status and Jynx can find many opportunities to set it up, especially against walls such as Aromatisse.

Set Details
========

Maximum Special Attack EVs enable Jynx to hit really hard with Ice Beam after a Nasty Plot, potentially 2HKOing some resisted hits like Doublade. Maximum Speed EVs with a Timid nature are used so Jynx can outpace as many Pokemon as it can manage as it can't really take a hit. With Dry Skin, Jynx can switch into predicted Water-type moves, especially from bulky Water-types such as Alomomola. Leftovers is important to help mitigate health lost from Substitute.

Usage Tips
========

It's important that Jynx switches in safely as it has very little bulk; it can do this by switching into a Water-type move, having VoltTurn teammates, or getting in after a teammate has fainted. Jynx should switch into walls, especially bulky Water-types, to hit them with Lovely Kiss. Afterwards, Jynx should set up Substitute and Nasty Plot while the opposing Pokemon is asleep, then use Ice Beam after a boost or two.

Team Options
========

Spinners and Defog users such as Hitmontop and Gligar are important to get rid of hazards as Jynx is weak to Stealth Rock. U-turn and Volt Switch users such as Swellow and Jolteon can be useful at getting Jynx in safely. Dugtrio is a great teammate due to its ability to trap most Steel- and Fire-types and wipe them out with Earthquake. Skuntank can provide great support to Jynx as it can Defog hazards away and "trap" Doublade with Pursuit and Sucker Punch. Life Orb Hitmonlee can also be a great teammate as it can Rapid Spin hazards away and wipe out most bulky Pokemon that resist Ice Beam.

Other Options
########

Jynx could run a Calm Mind set like it could in previous generations, but with the prevalence of Pokemon such as Moltres, Hitmonlee, Delphox, and Doublade, it is very difficult for Jynx to manage a more bulky spread. Focus Sash can be run in conjunction with Counter to lure in and KO Escavalier, but has little use outside of that and is gimmicky at best. A trapping set consisting of Mean Look, Lovely Kiss, Perish Song, and Substitute could be utilized, but this makes Jynx Taunt bait and if Jynx runs an attacking move in place of Substitute, the moment the opposing Pokemon wakes up, there's a good chance that it can OHKO Jynx. It can run an anti-lead set with a variation of Taunt, Lovely Kiss, Light Screen, and Reflect, but it's mostly outclassed in this role by Meowstic-M. Fake Out can be run to beat hazard leads such as Omastar and Kricketune without activating sleep clause, but it is almost useless against Accelgor and Cobalion and is typically a waste of a moveslot if the opponent lacks a suicide lead.

Checks & Counters
########

**Stealth Rock**: Stealth Rock can severely limit Jynx's life span, especially for the Choice Scarf and Lovely Kiss + 3 Attacks sets.

**Fast Pokemon**: Naturally fast Pokemon such as Durant and Delphox can remove Jynx with ease, especially if they are wielding a Choice Scarf, as it enables them to successfully revenge kill every variant of Jynx. Speed Boosters, namely Sharpedo, can outspeed Jynx after a boost or two and KO with Dark Pulse or Crunch.

**Priority**: Almost every form of priority bar Aqua Jet will OHKO Jynx after Stealth Rock. Shadow Sneak from Doublade, Fake Out from Ambipom, and Sucker Punch from Skuntank can all OHKO Jynx, but Sucker Punch users must be wary of Lovely Kiss and Substitute.

**Bulky Steel-types**: If Jynx lacks Focus Blast, Steel-types such as Magneton and Registeel can wall it; if Jynx lacks Shadow Ball, Pokemon such as Doublade and Bronzong can wall it.

I think this is ready for QC now. I'm tempted to slash Substitute with Nasty Plot and not slash anything next to Lovely Kiss on the first set. I'm also tempted to slash Focus Sash on the first set. If I could get some input on this, that would be great.

okay, the sets are just a little bit off in terms of what they should contain.

the NP set (Seduction Smasher if you will GlassGlaceon ;o) (no actually call it that if real), should look like this

name: Seduction Smasher
move 1: Lovely Kiss
move 2: Nasty Plot
move 3: Ice Beam
move 4: Substitute
ability: Dry Skin
item: Leftovers
nature: Timid
evs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

obviously this changes some of the stuff you wrote.

Choice Scarf should look like this:

name: Choice Scarf
move 1: Psyshock / Psychic
move 2: Ice Beam
move 3: Lovely Kiss
move 4: Trick / Focus Blast
ability: Dry Skin
item: Choice Scarf
nature: Timid
evs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

QC also feels that a third set should be added, LK + 3 attacks

name: Lovely Kiss Three Attacks
move 1: Lovely Kiss
move 2: Ice Beam
move 3: Psyshock / Psychic
move 4: Focus Blast
ability: Dry Skin
item: Life Orb
nature: Timid
evs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

Make these changes and add the set and I will QC this o.o

Shadow Ball could be mentioned in set details as an option over Focus Blast, as well as HP Fire, not sure if it is slash worthy.

edit: fixed arikado o.o

Banned deucer.
I wouldn't say Jynx has average Speed: 95 is pretty good, especially for RU. An average Speed for RU would be 80 or 85. Change the first bullet in the OV to: Great Special Attack, good Speed.

Also, add in the Overview that it has a decent offensive movepool with moves like Energy Ball, Shadow Ball and Focus Blast but outside of that it's rather barren.

Can I get a third check please :)

Edit: Well, I probably should have changed the title :P

to clarify we want you to switch the location of Seduction Smasher and Lovely Kiss 3 attacks in the analysis

Yokatta...
Spirit I reworked some of this analysis since Yanmega and Zoroark are banned now. Also, how do you want the overview reworked? I feel like the overview describes what Jynx does; it puts stuff to sleep, it sets up, and can switch into bulky water-types. It also mentions the limitations it has, such as its limiting speed, which also mentions some Pokemon to watch out for, as well as the common Knock Off and Stealth Rock and its vulnerability to priority. While these are pros and cons, they are also what allow it to succeed and what gives it disadvantages in the meta. If I'm missing something, please tell me and I'll rework it how you want, but yeah.

In the overview mention that Jynx is one of the best Pokemon to match up against lead Omastar, it can set up on the shellfish pretty freely and use its fast sleep inducing move to prevent entry hazards from getting set up, *INCREDIBLY* useful now that Omastar leads are getting more and more common.

Also, Focus Sash pretty much *needs* a mention somewhere imo, especially with Omastar leads so common. The ability for jynx to take any one hit and retaliate with either Sleep or an incredibly powerful attack is absolutely invaluable, and it becomes quite a pain for offensive teams to deal with without essentially losing two Pokemon. (i use LK/NP/Ice Beam/Shadow Ball).

Focus Sash+Counter could go in OO too, i remember it was actually onsite for NU last gen before jynx got banned, and luring in/killing Escavalier is kinda funny but overall a gimmick in the end

QC Approved 3/3
