Hello, everyone, and welcome to my newest RMT, feat. Specs Lele.
First off, I like to bring gimmick and overlooked threats to the table (my prevous RMTs feat. DD Zard-Y, Decidueye etc.), but this time I went straight tryhardery.
So, Lele became one of my favorite mons of all times (right next to Mew) and I feel it is underrated in this meta. It had so much potential when M-Metagross and Duggy got banned, but people just didn't use Lele that much.
Specs Lele hits so hard and has very few switch ins (damn Jirachi). Heatran and Ferrothorn are easy to shut down (granted you hit Fblast). So is Tangrowth. Even Celesteela isn't that much of a reliable switch in, imo.
That is why I decided to build an offensive team around specs Lele, and the team goes as follows:
/
We started of with a nice Fairy/Steel/Dragon tryhard core in Lele+Kart+Garchomp.
Honestly, these 3 alone are a good team. Lele wallbreaks (Venusaur, Zapdos, Clef etc.), Kart sets up and sweeps, chomper revenges.
Next, came this great lead Diancie (I don't know who came up with this - or where I saw this -, but just tell me and I'll give you the credits). Keeps SR on the opponents side, avoids hazards on yours, and most of the time gets an opponent down to 1-10% HP.
Why would you ever run a terrain without Hawlucha when playing this ladder, right? So, yeah, Hawlucha comes next, not much to say. It keeps Volcaronas, Rain and opposing scarf Kartanas in check.
To glue everything, Toxapex was the chosen mon, granting me a good switch in to many mons (specially Greninja), while also giving me momentum due to Eject button.
Even though Lele is a beast, I was struggling v. Jirachi/Clef stall, which is why I added Zygarde over chomper. A scarf mon wasnt really needed due to Hawlucha and timid Kart, so Zygarde came to mind, so that Celesteela, Chansey, Jirachi and Unaware Clef all became easier to beat.
Unfortunately, I really don't have the time to get top 10 and I recently tilted and lost 200 points in half an hour or so. Which means I'll stay at 1950.
Anyway, to the team:
Diancie-Mega @ Diancite
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Moonblast
- Substitute
- Endeavor
When I first faced this set, I considered it to be sheer shit. Honestly. But, man, was I wrong. This is basically an improved lead Nape. A lead Nape that doesn't need taunt, that scares M-Sableye and stall in general.
To sum it up, get your SR, subs until you are 1HP or so, and endeavor. Watch out for ghost types comming, predicting the Endeavor. If you get the 50/50 right, you can moonblast a ghost to the face.
This, before mega evolves, can take Lando-TsEQ even from offensive Lando-Ts, aside from adamant/earth plate/life orb/crit. Basically, it can take most EQs and AV Magearnas iron heads.
So, yeah, it's a lead mon that can annoy the opponent, specially stall.
Tapu Lele @ Choice Specs
Ability: Psychic Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psychic
- Psyshock
- Moonblast
- Focus Blast
An absolute beast. I run modest cause I really see no reason to run anything else. I have honestly never seen myself in a position where i thought "damn, I should be running Timid". The point of Specs Lele is to wallbreak, and modest allows us to outspeed the most relevant mons in any case. The only problem is you are slower than opposing Leles, and that is a problem. But then again, it is a fair trade.
That said, the only real counter to this is Jirachi. I have beaten countless Scizors trying to switch in on Psychic and Lele can wear down Magearna in order to let Kart win the game (Mag gets 3hko and can't 1hko Lele back unless it is invested).
Not to mention the countless Heatrans and Ferrothorns. Tbh, Heatran can't take psychic that well anyways.
Just be careful v. Ferrothorn on rain teams, as those like to run Chople Berry and gyroball you to the face.
As to the moves, they are pretty obvious. Psychic/Moonblast STABs, psyshock mainly to beat Chansey and AV Magearna, Focus Blast to beat Ferros and Heatrans.
Next.
Kartana @ Grassium Z
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 56 HP / 196 Def / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 19 Atk
- Swords Dance
- Leaf Blade
- Sacred Sword
- Defog
A different underrated Kartana set (not even listed on the set viability ranking). This set does everything right. It is bulky enough to switch in v. Lando-Ts and Excadrills, it defogs, it wallbreaks with SD+Grassium (347 is good enough), it sweeps with +1 speed. Get Venusaur out of the way with Lele and Kart can have a field day.
For those of you who don't know, that IV and nature allows Kart to increase speed instead of Atk, which, combined with SD, makes Kart a great set up sweeper.
Besides that, leaf blade is a must STAB, sacred sword to beat Ferrothorn, Heatran and Magnezone. Z-grassium helps to beat anything you need to punch hard.
Zygarde @ Leftovers
Ability: Aura Break
EVs: 188 HP / 140 Atk / 180 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Substitute
- Dragon Dance
- Thousand Arrows
- Toxic
The steel/fairy/dragon tryhard core gets completed with Zygarde. Standard sub stall breaker set, with Toxic to help v. Unaware mons. Zygarde was chosen due to its ability to grant me wins v. stall I wouldn't get otherwise, and it adds electric immunity to the table, giving Specs Koko a harder time.
The given EV spread and nature give Zygarde enough Speed to outspeed Mega Lopunny at +1, with the rest bumped into HP and Attack for 404 HP Substitutes and extra power.
I guess you can go with 279 speed if you really feel like outspeeding Heatran, but I run 271.
Hawlucha @ Psychic Seed
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- High Jump Kick
- Acrobatics
- Stone Edge
- Swords DanceHawlucha is S/M quintescential sweeper (who would've known!). If you feel like checking/revenging Volcarona, Scarf Kartana etc., go Hawlucha. So that's what I did.
Once again, as with Lele, I see no reason to run any other EVs/Nature. The EVs allow me to outspeed/speed tie most Hawluchas, +2 Volcaronas, +2 Zard, +1 Blacephalon and max atk adamant grants me the kills. Pretty easy. Like Hawlucha is pretty frail anyway, so you might as well go max/max and beat opposing Hawluchas.
The moves: Acrobatics and SD (Duh). HJK to keep things interesting (that sweet 10% we all love). Stone edge to beat Zapdos after SR.
Toxapex @ Eject Button
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Toxic/Toxic Spikes
- Haze
- RecoverPex is - you guessed it - the glue of the team. Allows me to scout for sets, while also granting me momentum with eject button.
I tried Healing Wish Chansey, but Pex worked better for me.
The set is self-explanatory.
Since there are so many Kartanas, Clef, Pex and other hazard removers, I prefer to run Toxic, but that is up to you.
Sdef is suppose to counter Ash-ninja and Blacephalon.
Team overview
As you can all see, this is tryhardery at its best. A team full of A and S rank mons. So there is that: it is not as fun as running a no legendary team or something like that.
If you are aiming for points, I can say the team works great. You can beat most types of teams by the matchup up: analyze the opposing team and see which mons you have to remove/wear down a little in order to get a sweep (the team can succesfully remove Magearna, Celesteela, Toxapex, Zapdos etc.).
The team is very easy to use v. balance (just get Lele in, click whichever move you want), v. offense you need to plan for a Hawlucha sweep most of the times, v. Rain, Kart is the way to go and v. stall you have a good match up, so don't rush things up.
So, yeah, enjoy the team and have a good day!

Most of these threats can and will become less threatning if Diancie is played right (Endeavor). Anyways, the threats are:
Tapu Koko is pretty annoying. It checks all the members of the team. Kart at +1 speed will beat it most of the times. Watch out for Z lead, as it can 1hko Lele even out of electric terrain. Hawlucha usually follows Koko, so make sure to have either Pex or Lele at full hp, and do not let it (lucha) get +2.
Opposing Leles are, funny enough, hard to beat. The only downside to run modest on our lele is the fact that most leles are timid and they'll 2hko you. So make sure to wear opposing Leles down. If you see its scarf, Hawlucha is the way to go (needs +2 or prior damage). V. non scarf, Kart.
Av Magearna can annoy us, but since they are everywhere and they like to switch in to Lele, they become less scary. A TR variant can destroy this team with ease.
I do not prepare for Blacephalon, which is why I don't like to face it. Scarf can trick Pex, other variants can annoy us with subs and god knows what else.
