[OVERVIEW]
Lumineon provides excellent role compression, being a great Water switch-in that can remove entry hazards and slow pivot all at once. Lumineon is just bulky enough to check many attackers, such as Golem, which lack a super effective move to hit Lumineon with. However, Lumineon can easily be broken through by strong wallbreakers such as Machoke and Stoutland, and is easily worn down thanks to its lack of reliable recovery. It is also weak to many of the most prominent threats in the metagame, such as Rotom-F, Leafeon, and Zebstrika, and faces competition from Politoed and Lapras as a Water-type immunity, and Prinplup, Vibrava, and Vullaby as a defensive Defog user.

move 4: Toxic
item: Leftovers
ability: Storm Drain
nature: Bold
evs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========
Defog helps to remove entry hazards for Lumineon's teammates, and Scald threatens foes with burn but it incredibly weak. U-Turn allows Lumineon to pivot out of foes that it counters, such as Simipour, to give teammates free switch ins. Toxic helps cripple opposing Water-types such as Floatzel and bulky foes such as Vullaby and Audino.
Set Details
========
Maximum HP and Defense investment with a Bold nature help Lumineon take on physical attackers lacking a super effective move, such as Monferno, slightly better. A Bold nature is used despite having a physical attack since U-Turn is still incredibly weak without an Attack-reducing nature, and Lumineon does not want to decrease its other stats. Leftovers provides slight recovery to help negate some chip damage, and Storm Drain allows Lumineon to pivot into Water-type attackers more effectively by giving it an immunity to their STAB attacks.
Usage Tips
========
Lumineon can be brought in on opposing Water-types, such as Floatzel, and weaker walls, such as Vullaby or Audino. Use free turns to remove entry hazards before attempting anything else. U-Turn is a risk-free move versus faster opponents that Lumineon walls, as it's guaranteed to safely bring in a teammate, so use it frequently. Keep Lumineon healthy, as allowing it to be weakened early-game can leave it open to being KOed on the switch in by attacks such as Floatzel's Focus Blast or Simipour's Grass Knot. Lumineon can be used for death fodder to bring a teammate in for free if it is no longer needed to wall Water-types and has already removed entry hazards.
Team Options
========
Lumineon best supports teammates that need a reliable Water-type switch-in, such as Rapidash or Camerupt. It also helps Pokemon that need entry hazard removal to be effective, such as Regice or Simisear. Specially defensive teammates, such as Audino or Grumpig, can help take on special attackers that threaten Lumineon, and Electric immunities such as Stunfisk help combat one of Lumineon's two weaknesses and prevent it from being Volt Switch fodder. Audino is also notable for being able to pass Wishes to Lumineon to help make up for its lack of recovery. Lumineon can be severely pressured by strong wallbreakers, such as Stoutland or Leafeon, so checks to them, such as Metang or Monferno, are highly appreciated. As Lumineon will be pivoting with U-Turn versus Water-types frequently, teammates to revenge kill them such as Choice Scarf Rotom-F or Electrode are useful.
[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
Tailwind or Protect can be run over Toxic to either provide a Speed boost for teammates or extra Leftovers recovery. Ice Beam allows Lumineon to hit Grass-type switch-ins, but Lumineon is so weak that this is a poor option. Hidden Power Grass does more to the Water-types that Lumineon commonly switches into, but slow pivoting and wearing them down with Toxic is generally sufficient.
Checks and Counters
=============
**Strong Attackers**: Due to Lumineon's mediocre bulk, it can be broken through by powerful wallbreakers, such as Stoutland and Leafeon, and can do little to deter their switch in besides U-Turning out thanks to its poor offenses.
**Grass-types**: All Grass-types take little from Lumineon's attacks and can do severe damage with their super effective STAB attacks in return. In particular, Roselia is immune to Toxic and can use Lumineon as setup fodder, and Jumpluff can Encore Lumineon into Defog before using it as setup fodder. However, some Grass-types, such as Quilladin and Gogoat, do not appreciate being crippled by Toxic or Scald burns.
**Electric-types**: All Electric-types can easily switch into Lumineon's attacks and use it for a free Volt Switch, either KOing Lumineon or gaining momentum for its teammates. Rotom-F can also set up a free Substitute on Lumineon.
**Residual Damage**: Since Lumineon lacks reliable recovery, it can be worn down by burn, toxic, damage from entry hazards, and multiple weaker attacks until it is eventually KOed.
