ORAS OU Mega Gyarados HO

Hi dudes and welcome to a Br0ken Promises' RMT.
Today I'd present a pretty strong Team which was also tested by other players, and giving very very good results. It's a simple HO based on Gyarados-Mega's sweep, supported in the offensive by the other 'mons of the team, whose target is to keep momentum and ultimately win with cleaning. The starting Core is Gyarados + Weavile, it isn't really a core but allows me to hit and kill a lot of threats, if not some stupid pony. I later entered Heatran, which is my Steel and SR Setter, 'cause there isn't team which worthy of respect can be build without rocks and Dragon Resistor. It is a very great Stallbreaker which Trapkill 'mons very boring for Gyarados and Weavile (Clefable, Ferrothorn, Skarmory...). Landorus-T is my Scarf User and it's the method to starts every battles: Is fast and it allows me to escape with U-Turn, with keeping momentum, he protect me vs Ground Spam of Excadrill and others Phisical Sweepers, Knock Off is good vs Stall and Balance for some Pokèmons which need its Item. Now I can't play an HO with Gyarados and Weavile without Defog User, obv I put Latios with HP Fire 'cause Heatran is the only way for not be walled up to Ferrothorn, and it's a nice shot vs Steel which switch-in on my Latios. At the last I put a fast wallbreaker which help me with momentum and give me some kills, so Raikou was my choice.
Now the team is full!

gyarados.gif

Gyarados @ Gyaradosite
Ability: Intimidate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Crunch
- Earthquake

Main Sweeper-Cleaner of my team. It has a pretty well Bulk and a monstrous Atk. He gives big damages with Weavile, there isn't an high quantity of Pokèmon able to stand, and those are few: Ferrothorn-Azumarill-Clefable-Keldeo-Skarmory. Stop. I I prefered Earthquake>Substitute for 'mons like Rotom.

heatran.gif

Heatran @ Air Balloon
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Magma Storm
- Earth Power
- Taunt
- Stealth Rock

It is my SR Setter and my Steel. He Checks almost all Steel and Fairies and is (obv) an entry vs Dragons. Classic Stallbreaker with Magma Storm with Taunt for not be annoyed by Clefable and other some Pokèmon like it. 252 SAtk and Spe for keeping the high speed of my team.

weavile.gif

Weavile @ Life Orb
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Ice Shard
- Icicle Crash
- Low Kick
- Knock Off

The friend of snacks of Gyarados, spams absurd damages and/or kills. Very few things well and can hold/check him, stuff like Ferrothorn, Clefable that still pecking 2HKO and stuff like Keldeo that just it is THE counter. Another important thing, has the priority with STAB and can boast of a nice coverage, complete with Low Kick which checks the stuff that the two STAB it don't.

landorus-therian.gif

Landorus-Therian @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- U-turn
- Knock Off

Scarf User of this team, usually the "cycle" of the team opens with it (apart from when the opposing team has Defiant user or some other unfortunate circumstance); the set is the classic: the EQ stab, Sedge for DNite who has already lost Multiscale, Talonflame and Pinsir, U-Turn for momentum and Volturn core with Raikou, Knock Off for stuff like Chansey that depends a lot from the Item. And particularly important, is the revengekiller, and is great in a fast mg as ORAS.

latios.gif

Latios @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SDef / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Defog

Err Latios lol, everybody knows him. It's the classic set with Hidden Power Fire>Recover to hit steels on the Switch in (I have only Heatran for kill Ferrothorn, otherwise) and Defog is important in the team, 'cause Gyarados and Weavile takes a lot of Damages fault of the rocks.

raikou.gif

Raikou @ Assault Vest
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Extrasensory
- Volt Switch
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Pivot of the team that take the Bolts directed to Gyarados, it checks perfectly almost the Electric of tier (Thundurus, Rotom-W, Manectric, Zapdos ...) and with the Assault Vest has several good revenue on Special Attacker, plus holding Mega Gardevoir which is the nightmare of tier, virtually.

Hey dude nice team you got there. Its great to see mega Gyara get some love. As its not used as much. I have a few changes to the team that would benefit.

On Gyarados, ai believe you should switch to a Jolly Nature instead of an Adamant Nature. With Jolly, you don't get out speed by Mega Lop at +1, and you are able to have good speed control. Also you still get kills on things like Rotom with Earthquake, so it doesn't really affect damage output on what you want to hit.

On Raikou I would Go Shadow Ball>Extrasensory. Shadow ball is able to hit things like latios and other psychics, and Extrasensory doesn't really hit anything besides Mega Venusaur, which you have latios and Heatran to hit for you anyways.

That's really all, the team is fine otherwise. Hope it helped a little and goodluck!

Hei -Magic- =)
This is a nice rate and it help to break up the predictability of the team.
But :

Bisharp: I would not change the initial core... This Pokèmon hasn't has nothing more than Weavile, indeed, I'll lose speed control. Please explain me if there is a serious reason for put it x)

Raikou: Assault Vest is better on my team: why? 'Cause its work is be a nice pivot and keep control with VS (VS+CMind mmh... I think it isn't very good) and complete the Volturn Core with Landorus/Jirachi on the new team, and this will be change my base strategy :/

Landorus: Not bad, but sincerely i haven't found the Ground Spam a reak threat.

However, I'll try your rate. Thanks man!

Hi broken Promises cool team there and I think it can be improved in few passages.

First, Heatran is your only dragon and fairy resist, so I highly recommend you to change the item to Leftovers in order to increase his longevity during the game. This also allows you to hard check Clefable and Mega Venusaur that wall most of your team and can beat non-Leftovers variant. Lastly, Heatran is your only way to deal with SpDef WoW Talonflame, since once Raikou is burned it can't win anymore the 1vs1, but this set can't really touch Talonflame so i suggest you to swap Stealth Rock with Toxic. Also just because you run Magma Storm put 64 EVs in HP, so you can tank one more Seismic Toss from Chansey.
heatran.gif

Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 64 HP / 192 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Magma Storm
- Earth Power
- Toxic
- Taunt
Now the second flaw of this team imo is the lack of immediate power because Gyarados needs at least one turn of setup and the others teammate can hit really hard fat 'mons. So I'd change the Choice Scarf with an Earth Plate on Landorus-T so you can 2HKO pokemons like the aforementioned Clefable, Venusaur or Amoongus, supporting the Gyarados sweep. The EVs spread allows you to tank two Iron Head from Adamant LO Excadrill and outspeed him.
landorus-therian.gif

Landorus-Therian @ Earth Plate
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 200 HP / 76 Atk / 232 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- U-turn
- Stone Edge
- Stealth Rock
Now you got some problems against super fast pokemon with a good coverage like Mega Lopunny or Mega Alazakam, so you need a strong revengekiller to take them out, so i would give a Choice Scarf to Latios. Choice scarf Latios outspeeds all unboosted pokemon of the meta and can easily revenge kill with his two strong stabs.
latios.gif

Latios @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SDef / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Defog
Lastly i have few more minimal suggestions for your team:
461.png
Poison Jab > Low kick on Weavile. Low kick isn't really that useful for your team since Tyranitar, Ferrothorn and Heatran are all hit hard from Weavile stabs and have no reliable recovery. Poison Jab instead could be very crucial for your Gyarados sweep hitting hard Clefable and Azumarill, two of the most common Gyarados check.
130-m.png
Jolly > Adamant on Gyarados. This allows you to outspeed Mega Lopunny and Mega Manectric after one dragon dance.
243.png
Shadow Ball > Extrasensory on Raikou. Shadow ball is far more useful hitting Mega Alakazam and Mega Gardevoir, something that your team can't kill easily while Extrasensory only touch (for nothing) Mega venusaur.

That's all, hope I helped!
