Mid-Game Evolutions

We've had enough time, we'll run the first vote through, then we'll figure out what order to do the second vote run in if need be. Arguments in the thread above if you need them.

Should Mid-Battle Evolutions be kept?
Yes

A vote for YES will retain mid-battle evolutions in ASB, and will run into further voting.
A vote for NO removes mid-battle evolutions from ASB,

Majority wins.

Honestly, just allowing it with visible, codified restrictions is a lot better than outright banning it — questions over validities can be addressed through several means like approvers or some other reliable method, the loss of 20 EN can hurt you in the long term, & several other things. At least give this mechanic a -chance- to work under modified conditions first before banning it... But then again, what do I know... -.-'

Pretty much what Its_A_Random says in the above post. I'm convinced that there is a way we can do this that is simple, makes logical sense, and (most importantly) doesn't hurt or break the game.

I originally had no, but to be honest I would be inclined to do it due to it being the easiest option. Not necessarily the best one.

I agree with IAR. Let us try developing this further before dismissing the concept entirely.
 
Tiebreaking vote eh. I'd like to see mid-battle evolutions limited but I also think that they can be a neat rarely used part of ASB.

Let's see if we can limit them appropriately to make them non stupid.

According to Objection I still have to vote in this thread or something despite resigning, so...

No Pre-25 Moves, No HP Change, No breaking restrictions, those will happen irrespective of whatever I vote, but a 4-4 deadlock between after KO & creating an evolution phase... What do I vote for... uhhh...

I kinda like this idea. Follows the natural pause idea from the anime, gives the opponent a chance to respond with a counter-evolution or a switch or something, yeah I much prefer this over the other option.

Majority in favour of Evolution Phase. Now to go back into my policy slumber unless you lot cannot make up your mind on whatever we have to vote on next. -.-'
 
OK, now we know that evolution:
  • Will follow switch phase-style mechanics
  • Will not allow the Pokemon to learn new moves mid-battle
  • Will not cause the Pokemon to gain HP if its evolved form's max HP is higher
  • Will not allow a Pokemon to bypass limitations on evolutionary stage

We need to decide the following:

But there is another concern that I raised during the vote:

Should a Pokemon be able to evolve before completing a battle in its current stage? In other words, under the current rules, a Pokemon that has 3 UC put into its EC to bring it to 3/9 prior to its first battle can use the EC it would gain from its first battle to evolve in its first battle. Should this still be legal?
