Hi
I have wanted to get into Monotype for a while now as it seems really fun. I chose Steel for my first team because Steel is my favorite type and Steel types have a lot of bulk. I built a team with a Ferro/Skarm/Heatran core and added Aggron for ridiculous defensive bulk. I added Excadrill and Durant for offensive presence and a way to beat Fire, Psychic, and Dark types. RMT!!!
Ferrothorn @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Leech Seed
- Protect
- Gyro Ball
- Power Whip
Typical Ferrothorn set. 0 Speed IVs is for highest Gyro Ball damage. Relaxed nature boosts his defense while lowering his speed even more. He can deal with water types with Power Whip, has Leech Seed for recovery, and has Gyro Ball for straight power. He can also use Leech Seed to pass health to other Pokemon. I ran a Rocky Helmet in conjunction with Iron Barbs to punish physical attackers.
Skarmory @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Spikes
- Brave Bird
- Whirlwind
Skarmory is my lead and Spikes/Rocks setter. I run Brave Bird so that he isn't Taunt bait, and Whirlwind to rack up hazard damage. Max defense so he can tank and have time to get Rocks and as many layers of Spikes as possible. He usually doesn't live very long, and I would like to find a way to increase his lifespan (whether that be replacing him or modifying his set).
Heatran @ Air Balloon
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 SpA
Calm Nature
- Lava Plume
- Earth Power
- Toxic
- Roar
Heatran is there for Fire teams to soak up Fire moves and dish back with Earth Power. Toxic is really useful against Normal type stall teams with Chansey and co. Roar is there to spread the Toxic love. He has an Air Balloon because without it my whole team (barring Aggron) dies to Earthquake. He is my only really Specially Defensive 'mon besides Aggron.
Aggron-Mega @ Aggronite
Ability: Filter
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Heavy Slam
- Dragon Tail/Aqua Tail
- Iron Defense
- Earthquake
Bulkiest Pokemon in the game hands down. Used for pure intimidation. Your opponents eyes will widen as they watch it eat up all of the moves they can throw at it. Invested in Special Defense because it doesn't need any more Defense. It is one of the best Heavy Slam users in the game. I couldn't decide between Aqua Tail for Ground types or Dragon Tail for phazing. Iron Defense is there if you can force a switch to make this guy unkillable. Earthquake is just amazing coverage.
Excadrill @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide
- Rapid Spin
One of the best physical attackers in the game. Choice Scarf guarantees that he will not be outsped by anything. Jolly nature to boost his speed even higher. He and Heatran sweep fire teams easily. Earthquake and Iron Head for STAB power, Rock Slide for flying types, and Rapid Spin for hazards. I can probably get rid of Rapid Spin, seeing as my whole team barring Skarmory resists rocks. He is there when I need priority.
Durant @ Life Orb
Ability: Hustle
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Hone Claws
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide
- X-Scissor
Backup Excadrill. Hustle and Life Orb give him unrestricted power. Jolly nature for speed. Hone Claws is there if you can predict a switch for a free Attack boost and to return Accuracy to normal levels. Iron Head and X-Scissor for STAB and Rock Slide for Bugs and other flying creatures. He once OHKOed a SlowBro. Nuff' said.
That's my team! if you have any questions feel free to ask. Other than that RMT!!!
