[Monotype / Flying] Dragonite

QC:- Eien / Paleo / all falls down
GP:- Mr. Uncompetitive / P Squared

[OVERVIEW]
**Flying**:

Dragonite is a very strong physical attacker, being able to wallbreak multiple threats with Choice Band or sweep with Dragon Dance. It has excellent offensive coverage options that make it a great asset to Flying teams such as Superpower, Fire Punch, and Earthquake. It also has access to Extreme Speed, which allows it to serve as a very reliable revenge killer. Dragonite has access to a great ability in Multiscale, which halves the damage it takes at full health, helping it in setting up Dragon Dance safely. This paired with its decent bulk means Dragonite can also switch into unresisted moves quite safely if necessary. Unfortunately, Dragonite has a huge weakness to Ice-type moves that can be exploited due to several Pokemon carrying Ice-type coverage moves, such as Mega Lopunny and Keldeo. Dragonite's weakness to Stealth Rock ruins Multiscale's effectiveness and makes it more difficult for it to set up. It also has a mediocre Speed tier and is usually useless in the Fairy matchup.

Moves
========

A Choice Band-boosted STAB Outrage from Dragonite hits extremely hard, generally OHKOing anything that isn't a wall or doesn't resist it. Extreme Speed allows it to pick off weakened Pokemon that have set up such as Mega Gyarados or revenge kill certain threats such as Weavile after Stealth Rock. Fire Punch is used to hit Steel-types that would otherwise wall Dragonite such as Skarmory and Ferrothorn and pick up KOs on Mega Scizor and Bisharp. Earthquake gives it great coverage, hitting Steel- and Rock-types for super effective damage, notably KOing Mega Diancie. Superpower can be used over Earthquake, although Dragonite then loses out on the ability to 2HKO Doublade and an effective way to damage Azumarill besides Extreme Speed: Earthquake has a very good chance of OHKOing Azumarill after it uses Belly Drum if it has taken Stealth Rock damage and always does after a little prior damage, while Extreme Speed cannot do the same. Superpower can be used to break the Normal-type defensive core of Porygon2 and Chansey, which can otherwise pose a problem to Flying teams, and hit Steel-types super effectively, picking up an OHKO on Air Balloon Heatran.

Set Details
========

Maximum Attack investment maximizes Dragonite's sweeping potential. An Adamant nature is preferred in order to increase its offensive presence and becomes relevant when revenge killing threats with Extreme Speed. It also gives Dragonite a chance to 2HKO both Leftovers and Rocky Helmet Skarmory with Fire Punch. A Choice Band is the item of choice, increasing Dragonite's damage output. Multiscale ensures Dragonite can get off a hit on a Pokemon without the risk of being KOed.

Usage Tips
========

Dragonite is best used as a hit-and-run attacker, doing damage and then switching out. It should be used early- or mid-game to wallbreak for its team, helping setup sweepers clean late-game. Preserving Multiscale should be the top priority, so the field should be kept clear of entry hazards. Dragonite should absolutely avoid status. Toxic poison and burn remove Multiscale, and a burn also halves its damage output. It can also work as a revenge killer with Extreme Speed and can clean late-game. Outrage should not be used when there are Pokemon that can revenge kill Dragonite such as Lopunny, Diancie, Magnezone, and Ditto, or when there are Steel-types, such as Scizor or Doublade, and Fairy-types, such as Belly Drum Azumarill, which can set up on it while it is locked into Outrage.

Team Options
========

Because Skarmory and Zapdos have the ability to wall almost every hit and can set and remove entry hazards, which is invaluable for preventing Multiscale from breaking, they pair well with Dragonite. Additionally, Zapdos can help whittle down walls that Dragonite can't break with Toxic and can get off a slow Volt Switch to bring in Dragonite safely. Skarmory switches into the Rock-, Fairy-, and Ice-type moves that threaten Dragonite like Ice Shard and increases offensive pressure by setting up Stealth Rock; however, it should be careful around Fairy-types like Diancie and Clefable, which can run Fire-type coverage moves like Hidden Power Fire and Flamethrower. Thundurus can offensively support Dragonite by spreading status through Prankster Thunder Wave, allowing it to beat threats without having to risk breaking its Multiscale. Mega Charizard Y can be used to switch into a predicted Will-O-Wisp and deal with the Ice-types and the physical walls that Dragonite cannot break. Landorus also pairs well with Dragonite, as it can OHKO or 2HKO almost every physical wall that Dragonite cannot break through. Dragonite's wallbreaking capabilities are largely appreciated by Mega Gyarados, helping it sweep late-game. Landorus-T's Choice Scarf set can be used to revenge kill Rock- and Steel-type foes that resist Extreme Speed. The defensive set can work as a great defensive pivot and can set up Stealth Rock while providing a slow U-turn to bring Dragonite in safely. Gliscor can also pair well with Dragonite, using its stallbreaking capabilities to stall out walls that threaten Dragonite like Porygon2 and bulky Water-type Pokemon like Alomomola.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Dragon Dance boosts Dragonite's Attack and Speed, making it a great sweeper or cleaner. It outspeeds Pokemon such as Mega Diancie, Latios, and Keldeo after one boost. Extreme Speed outprioritizes other attacks such as Sucker Punch and Ice Shard, as well as status moves from Prankster Pokemon such as Thundurus and Whimsicott. It's also good for picking off weakened Pokemon. Outrage is Dragonite's most powerful STAB attack, hitting multiple types that don't resist the move hard. Dragon Claw can be used instead of Outrage so that Dragonite doesn't get locked into the attack; however, there is a considerable difference in power, so Outrage gives Dragonite much-needed KOs that Dragon Claw cannot. Fire Punch allows Dragonite to deal massive damage to Skarmory, which otherwise walls Dragonite, and OHKO Mega Scizor and Ferrothorn. Earthquake gives it coverage on Mega Diancie, Azumarill, and Heatran, although it is walled by bulky Steel-types like Skarmory and Ferrothorn.

Set Details
========

Maximum Attack EVs with an Adamant nature allow Dragonite to hit harder, notably OHKOing Keldeo, and almost always OHKOing specially defensive Zapdos after a Dragon Dance boost. Multiscale allows Dragonite to set up Dragon Dance more easily by halving damage at full health. A Lum Berry is needed for Dragonite to freely set up Dragon Dance once and avoid any status that will keep it from sweeping. Lum Berry keeps Multiscale's ability active in case a Pokemon tries to Will-O-Wisp or Toxic it. Alternatively, it helps cure Dragonite of confusion from Outrage.

Usage Tips
========

Always keep Dragonite away from status moves and Stealth Rock because they will ruin Dragonite's chances of setting up safely. The Lum Berry can be used to set up on Pokemon that threaten Dragonite with a burn, such as Slowbro and Alomomola, although it should be preserved for as long as possible. Dragonite can be used as a mid- or late-game cleaner once all of its threats are weakened or gone. Despite Multiscale halving the damage Dragonite takes, it's highly recommended that Dragonite does not stay in on any Ice-type attacks, as it will suffer heavy damage from or be OHKOed by them.

Team Options
========

Zapdos and Skarmory make for good partners because both are able to remove entry hazards with Defog. Skarmory can switch into physical attackers and Fairy-types while setting up or removing entry hazards for Dragonite. Zapdos can provide support with Toxic and a slow Volt Switch, which gives Dragonite an opportunity to come in safely and set up. Dragonite appreciates wallbreakers such as Mega Charizard Y as partners. Mega Charizard Y can also deal with Ice-types and switch into a predicted Will-O-Wisp that would be problematic for Dragonite. Landorus-T and Gyarados can soften attacks aimed at Dragonite with Intimidate, allowing for Dragonite to set up Dragon Dance more effectively. Landorus-T deserves a special mention, as it can break through walls with its fearsome Attack. Dragonite appreciates defensive Landorus-T's ability to set up Stealth Rock and use a slow U-turn so it can come in safely. Mega Gyarados can switch into predicted Ice-type attacks for Dragonite and check Psychic-types such as Mew, Jirachi, Slowbro, and Mega Medicham. Both Mega Gyarados and Dragonite can put offensive pressure on the opposing team, as both Pokemon can set up with Dragon Dance. Togekiss can switch into a predicted Dragon-type attack for Dragonite. With its access to Prankster, Thundurus can paralyze opposing Pokemon with Thunder Wave, providing speed control for Dragonite.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

**Flying**:

Weakness Policy can be used with Multiscale for Dragonite to get a huge boost in its Attack and Special Attack, making it a much bigger threat. However, it requires Dragonite to be hit by a super effective attack, meaning it will most likely be at low health after setting up and must have Multiscale intact before doing so. It can also run Fire Blast to ensure that it KOes Skarmory. Iron Head gives Dragonite coverage against Fairy- and Rock-types; however, Earthquake and Fire Punch are resisted by fewer types. Thunder Punch gives Dragonite coverage on Azumarill, Skarmory, and other Flying-types such as Togekiss super effectively; however, Fire Punch has superior coverage. A specially defensive variant can also be run to check Water-types like Volcanion.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Flying**:

**Physically Defensive Walls**: Dragonite has a tough time breaking through physically defensive walls such as Skarmory, Trace Porygon2, and Hippowdon. Hippowdon and Skarmory can carry Rocky Helmet, which can break Multiscale; disrupt Dragonite's with Whirlwind; and easily recover damage dealt to them. Porygon2 can trace Dragonite's Multiscale and can either 2HKO it with an Ice Beam, set a timer on it with Toxic, or paralyze it with Thunder Wave.

**Ice-types**: Despite having Fire Punch and Superpower, Dragonite is still vulnerable to Ice-type Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Kyurem-B, Weavile, and Avalugg; it cannot afford to take any Ice-type attacks due to its 4x weakness. Many Ice-types carry Ice Shard, which can easily KO Dragonite once its Multiscale is broken.

**Fairy-types**: Dragonite's Outrage has no effect on Fairy-types, so they can use that opportunity to get a free switch in. Dragonite would have to rely on its coverage moves to deal damage to them. Choice Band Azumarill is able to OHKO Dragonite with Play Rough or use it as setup fodder with Belly Drum. Sylveon's Choice Specs- and Pixilate-boosted Hyper Voice can easily KO Dragonite. Togekiss can Thunder Wave Dragonite and proceed to make it flinch with Air Slash.

**Stealth Rock and Status**: Both Stealth Rock and status can ruin Dragonite's Multiscale, hindering its effectiveness as a sweeper. Status can severely hinder Dragonite's longevity in battle. Burns will cripple Dragonite's Attack, and Toxic damage increases each turn. Dragonite should be wary of paralysis, especially when running Dragon Dance. Notable Pokemon that can spread status are Mandibuzz, Chansey, Thundurus, Porygon2, Zapdos, Sableye, and Mew.

**Faster Pokemon**: Faster Pokemon are a huge problem for Dragonite if it has not set up Dragon Dance. Mega Lopunny can break its Multiscale with Fake Out and use Ice Punch afterwards. Choice Scarf Landorus-T can lower Dragonite's Attack with Intimidate and use Stone Edge. Keldeo has access to Icy Wind, which will lower Dragonite's Speed, keeping it from outpacing Keldeo.

Overview:
In your line discussing the movepool, make it "excellent offensive coverage" instead and remove Extreme Speed. (The likes of Superpower and Earthquake are rare coverage that Flying generally doesn't have.)

Instead of grouping Extreme Speed, we want to emphasize its priority and how useful it is to Flying teams. Extreme Speed allows Dragonite to serve as a very reliable revenge killer. (Flying is generally a pretty slow type)

I would add onto the Multiscale section that Dragonite does have quite good bulk as well, letting it switch into even unresisted attacks quite safely if necessary.

Choice Band:
Set:
Jolly is not at all worth a slash. It's probably not even worth mentioning in Set Details either. Also, as a slight nitpick, Extreme Speed is far more valuable than Fire Punch, so it goes before Fire Punch.

Fire Punch should not be slashed with Superpower. Choosing to run Superpower over Fire Punch allows Skarmory to utterly wall Dragonite. Also, the Fighting + Ground coverage is quite useless.

I am also unconvinced Earthquake should be slashed with Superpower. I would personally just give it a mention in Moves, but leaving it here might be okay.

name: Choice Band
move 1: Outrage
move 2: Extreme Speed
move 3: Fire Punch
move 4: Earthquake / Superpower
item: Choice Band
ability: Multiscale
nature: Adamant
evs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe

Moves:
Don't say Superpower can replace Fire Punch. When talking about it, explain why Earthquake is the preferred move, as it is the first slash. One thing is that Earthquake nets a 2HKO on Doublade, where Fire Punch requires 3 hits, which you lose if Superpower is run. Another note might be that the only way to damage Azumarill becomes Extreme Speed, which does quite a bit less damage. For example, Earthquake has a very good chance at OHKOing after it uses Belly Drum if it has taken Stealth Rock damage and always does after Rocky Helmet damage, while Extreme Speed cannot do the same.

Set Details:
Jolly is quite bad on this set. Adamant's damage boost is far more useful. The most notable example is Skarmory. If the Skarmory is fully invested in HP and Defense, the Adamant nature is needed to even have a chance to 2HKO Leftovers Skarmory, and guarantees the 2HKO on Rocky Helmet variants. With Stealth Rock up, Leftovers Skarmory isn't even 2HKOed 50% of the time by Jolly Dragonite. This is even more necessary because it helps Dragonite revenge kill with Extreme Speed, as the damage boost is quite helpful for securing KOs. Furthermore, you mentioned Gardevoir as a Speed tie opportunity, but Gardevoir is almost always using a Choice Scarf, so that's a bad example. Getting a Speed tie with Mamoswine is also quite useless, as it can use Ice Shard if Multiscale is broken anyway. I would honestly not even talk about Jolly. Emphasize Adamant is the best nature period.

Usage Tips:
You make it sound like Dragonite is only useful late-game. Dragonite is just as good in the early- or mid-game actually, as you want to use it to wallbreak for the rest of the team.

Dragonite absolutely needs to avoid status. Both Toxic poison and burns will remove Multiscale, and a burn will also halve its damage. Paralysis is slightly less annoying, but results in Dragonite being too slow to outspeed walls, which allows physical walls to safely switch in and recover off the damage until Dragonite gets fully paralyzed.

Team Options:
Zapdos can also run Volt Switch, which is very nice for safely bringing Dragonite into threats it checks.

Skarmory's ability to run Defog should also be mentioned.

Mega Charizard Y is also the strongest special wallbreaker. It pairs offensively very well, as Dragonite takes care of special walls Mega Charizard Y can't break and Mega Charizard Y takes care of physical walls Dragonite cannot break.

Speaking of wallbreakers, Landorus is a great partner for a very similar reason.

Landorus-T is also very nice. The Choice Scarf set can be used to revenge kill Rock- and Steel-type foes that resist Extreme Speed. The defensive set works as a great defensive pivot and can set up Stealth Rock while providing a slow U-turn to bring Dragonite in safely.

While Cleric support is generally nice, I don't think Togekiss's ability to provide that is particularly useful for Dragonite. Also, Wishpassing with Togekiss isn't a thing.

Mega Gyarados should be mentioned here. Dragonite's ability to wallbreak for Mega Gyarados is crucial for helping Mega Gyarados sweep late-game.

I think Gliscor should also be noted for its stallbreaking capabilities. Both sets, the SD and the Taunt, can break stall and walls that Dragonite cannot.

Dragon Dance:
Set:
Again, Jolly is not worth slashing here, and probably not worth mentioning either. I don't think Dragon Claw should be slashed either just because Outrage is so strong and you really don't want to lose that power. I suppose you can keep the mention in Moves though.

name: Dragon Dance
move 1: Dragon Dance
move 2: Extreme Speed
move 3: Outrage
move 4: Earthquake / Fire Punch
item: Lum Berry
ability: Multiscale
nature: Adamant
evs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

Moves:
Dragon Dance does not put Adamant Dragonite above Mega Lopunny. The +2 outspeeding Choice Scarf Latios is untrue for Adamant Dragonite as well. Latios, Keldeo and Mega Diancie are probably good examples here for outspeeding at +1.

It should be noted that Heatran walls this set if Fire Punch is used, as does Mega Diancie, and Azumarill takes very little damage from Extreme Speed. I would move Skarmory to the first reason to use Fire Punch, as Skarmory walls the Earthquake set. Mega Scizor and Ferrothorn are second to it.

Set Details:
You should say almost always OHKOing specially defensive Zapdos, as it does have a 12.5% chance to survive at full health.

Again, Jolly is not worth talking about. It's just so bad because you lose so many KOs. Sure, you can outspeed Choice Scarf Latios at +2, but what does that even do for you when getting 2 Dragon Dances is almost impossible against Dragon teams? Outspeeding Mega Lopunny at +1 is nice, but being Jolly means Porygon2 for sure absolutely just walls Dragonite. Getting a Speed tie with Choice Scarf Gardevoir is quite useless as well, because Dragonite cannot OHKO it, and worse, Gardevoir can even trace Multiscale.

Usage Tips:
While Dragonite should absolutely be saved for as long as possible, it still does have Extreme Speed, which can be used to revenge kill severly weakened threats. I would agree that you should emphasize its safety though.

Team Options:
Again, Zapdos can slow Volt Switch. This is super useful for giving Dragonite safe setup opportunities.

Mega Charizard Y's wallbreaking is very important. Even more than for the Choice Band set, this Dragonite greatly appreciates having its checks broken.

For the same reason, talk about Landorus.

Defensive Landorus-T's slow U-turn and Stealth Rock support should be noted.

You can mention Mega Gyarados and Dragonite putting great offensive pressure on the opposing team, as stopping one's sweep may make it too difficult to stop the other from sweeping.

Thundurus's Prankster Thunder Wave is even more useful for this set, allowing Dragonite to outspeed foes it normally can't.

Other Options:
The Weakness Policy set might be able to use Fire Blast over Fire Punch. Even a +3 Fire Punch cannot OHKO Skarmory, where a +2 Fire Blast can.

I would maybe mention Thunder Punch here, which I find to be quite useful for having the coverage of Azumarill + Skarmory. Of course, Fire Punch's superior coverage is preferred in most cases.

Checks and Counters:
Under your walls section, note just how annoying these specific examples can be. Rocky Helmet Skarmory will eventually make Dragonite KO itself to the recoil damage. Porygon2 can 2HKO with Ice Beam. Hippowdon's Sand Stream sets sand to break Multiscale as well.

Under the Ice-types, mention that many of them carry Ice Shard, which can easily OHKO Dragonite after Multiscale is broken.

Status should be mentioned for crippling Dragonite. Burns and paralysis are the primary problems, as I mentioned before.

Faster Pokemon are generally problematic for Dragonite after Multiscale is broken. Those that can survive an Extreme Speed can relatively safely KO Dragonite.

Mainly missing detail, so after implementations: QC 1/3

Thanks! I'll implement this soon.

Hi!

I don't see a good reason to mention dragonite is weak to fairy attacks in the overview, its not common coverage.

For the moveset, espeed should be slot 2 and eq/superpower slot 3, since espeed is next to essential on dragonite( maybe you just forgot to edit the moveset after the implementation.)

  • It should be used early or mid game to wallbreak for its team, helping the set up sweepers clean late game
  • Outrage should be used late game, since it locks itself for 2 or 3 turns, allowing Fairy types and Steel types to switch in and set up on it..
These two statements seem to contradict each other, as outrage is the best move to spam when wallbreaking mid to early game as all pokemon that dont resist it get 2hkod.

Additionally, the only fairy types that setup on it are Azumarill, RP Diancie, and NP Togekiss, the latter two being extremely uncommon. Steel is a bit of a stretch too since the only ones that setup on it are Scizor and Doublade, which arent huge threats to SkarmDos, but I guess its worth a mention. Although Bisharp can SD on an outrage, it will take min60, and if dnite gets is able to switch out, dnite gets a guaranteed revenge kill after LO with espeed. I guess this is another setup opportunity for the likes of scizor and doublade, but idk how far you're willing to take that. I think a better warning would be not to outrage when there are offensive pokemon that can knockout dnite immediantly after a kill, like Lopunny, Manectric, Diancie, Magnezone, Ditto... there are a lot of these.

In team options, mention Skarmory can switchin to all fairy types bar hp fire Diancie and Flamethrower Clef, and be an all around nuisance to fairy teams if skarmory carries iron head (which it always should on flying)

Mention how lum berry allows dragonite to setup on some pokemon without fear, like alomomola and slowbro, pokemon that threaten dragonite through fishing for burns. You sortve said that in a way, but mentioning those examples is much more specific than ''avoiding status''

  • Even though Dragonite should be preserved as long as possible, it can switch into weakened Pokemon to KO them with Extreme Speed.
This seems more appropriate in the choice banded set, as that set is known more for its revenge killing than DD. DD's objective is to sweep late game with the assistance of multiscale, so allowing multiscale to be broken in order to revenge a pokemon seems out of character for this set.

  • Weakness Policy is used with Multiscale for Dragonite to get a huge boost in its Attack and Special Attack, making a much bigger threat. It can also run Fire Blast to ensure that Dragonite KOes Skarmory. However, Weakness Policy requires Dragonite to be hit by a super effective attack, meaning it will most likely be at low health after setting up, and must have multiscale intact before setting up.
**Fairy-types**: Dragonite's Outrage has no affect on Fairy-types, as they can use that opportunity to get a free switch-in, especially against Fairy-types with dual typing. Dragonite would have to rely on its coverage moves to deal damage. Choice Band Azumarill is able to OHKO Dragonite with Play Rough or use Dragonite as setup fodder with Belly Drum. Choice Specs Pixilate-boosted Hyper Voice Sylveon can easily KO Dragonite. Togekiss can Thunder Wave Dragonite and proceed to flinch it with Air Slash.

**Entry Hazards Stealth rock and Status**: Entry hazards Stealth rock and status can both ruin Dragonite's Multiscale, hindering its effectiveness as a sweeper and a wallbreaker. Very strange wording here, but stealth rock doesn't really hinder dragonites ability to wallbreak, because it only doesnt allow it to come in as much. Status can severely hinder Dragonite's longevity in battle. Burns will cripple Dragonite's Attack and poison damage can increase each turn. Dragonite should be wary of paralysis, especially running Dragon Dance. Notable Pokemon that can spread status are Mandibuzz, Chansey, Thundurus, Porygon2, Zapdos, Sableye, and Mew.
qc 2/3 after implementation!

This seems more appropriate in the choice banded set, as that set is known more for its revenge killing than DD. DD's objective is to sweep late game with the assistance of multiscale, so allowing multiscale to be broken in order to revenge a pokemon seems out of character for this set.

**Flying**

Dragonite is a very strong physical attacker, being able to wallbreak multiple threats with Choice Band or sweep with Dragon Dance. It has an excellent offensive coverage options that makes it a great asset to Flying teams such as Superpower, Fire Punch, and Earthquake. It also has access to Extreme Speed, which allows Dragonite to serve as a very reliable revenge killer. Dragonite has access to a great ability in Multiscale, which halves the damage it takes at full health.(+space)This can help in setting up Dragon Dance safely. Paired with its decent bulk, it can also switch into unresisted moves quite safely if necessary. Unfortunately, Dragonite has a huge weakness to Ice-type moves and that can be exploited due to several Pokemon carrying Ice-type coverage moves such as Mega Lopunny,(-comma) and Keldeo. Dragonite's weakness to Stealth Rock ruins Multiscale's effectiveness and making makes it more difficult to set up. It also has a mediocre Speed tier and is usually useless in the Fairy matchup. However with its vast movepool and raw power, it Dragonite functions as a great wallbreaker and once boosted, it can be hard to revenge kill with its priority in Extreme Speed once boosted.(+period)

Moves

A Choice Band-boosted(+hyphen) STAB Outrage from Dragonite hits extremely hard, generally OHKO'ing(-apostrophe) anything that isn't a wall or resists it. Extreme Speed is very useful priority, allowing allows it to pick off weakened pokemon that have set up like Mega Gyarados or revenge kill certain threats such as Weavile after Stealth Rocks. Fire Punch is used to hit steel types Steel-types(+hyphen) which that would otherwise wall Dragonite like Skarmory and Ferrothorn, and pick up KO's(-apostrophe) on Mega Scizor and Bisharp. Earthquake gives it great coverage in hitting Steel-(+hyphen) and Rock-types(+hyphen) for super effective damage,(-comma) and KO'ing(-apostrophe) Mega-Diancie(-hyphen). Superpower can be used over Earthquake, although Dragonite loses out on the ability to 2HKO Doublade and the only effective (You'll still be able to damage Azumarill, just not with a neutral attack) way to damage Azumarill becomes Extreme Speed. Earthquake has a very good chance at of OHKOing Azumarill (I assume this is the Belly Drum user being discussed here) after it uses Belly Drum if it has taken Stealth Rock damage and always does after a little prior damage, while Extreme Speed cannot do the same. Superpower can be used to break the Normal-type(+hyphen) defensive core, which can otherwise pose a problem to Flying teams. It also hits Steel-types(+hyphen) super effectively,(-comma) and picks up an OHKO on Air Balloon Heatran, reducing the mindgames. (Maybe you should elaborate on these mindgames a little more? up to you!)

Set Details
========

Maximum Attack investment with an Adamant nature is given to maximize its Dragonite's sweeping potential. An Adamant nature is preferred in order to maximise maximize its offensive presence and becomes relevant when revenge killing threats with Extreme Speed. The Adamant nature also gives a chance to 2HKO both Leftovers and Rocky Helmet Skarmory with Fire Punch. A Choice Band is the item of choice, increasing Dragonite's damage output. Multiscale ensures Dragonite can get off a hit on a Pokemon without the risk of being KO'd KOed.

Usage Tips
========

Dragonite is best used as a hit-and-run attacker, doing damage and then switching out. It should be used early-(+hyphen) or mid-game(+hyphen) to wallbreak for its team, helping the set(-space)up sweepers clean late-game(+hyphen). Preserving multiscale Multiscale should be the top priority, and the field should be kept clear of entry hazards. Dragonite should absolutely avoid status. Toxic poison and burns remove multiscale Multiscale,(+comma) and a burn will halve its damage output. It can work as a revenge killer with Extreme Speed and can clean late-game(+hyphen). (-space)Outrage should not be used when there are Pokemon that can knock Dragonite out after a kill like Lopunny, Diancie, Magnezone,(+comma) and Ditto, or when there are Steel-types(+hyphen), like such as Scizor or and Doublade, and Fairy-types(+hyphen), such as Belly Drum Azumarill, (-space)that can set up on it while locked in(-space)to Outrage.

Team Options
========

Skarmory and Zapdos pair well with Dragonite because together,(-comma) they have the ability to wall almost every hit,(-comma) and can set and remove entry hazards.(+period) The Defog support from Zapdos is invaluable to Dragonite in preventing Multiscale from breaking. Additionally, it can help whittle down walls that Dragonite can't break with Toxic,(-comma) and can get off a slow Volt Switch to bring in Dragonite in safely. Skarmory switches in(-space)to the Rock-(+hyphen), Fairy-(+hyphen), bar Hidden Power Fire Diancie or Flamethrower Clefable (I get that Diancie and Clefable are Fairy-types, but neither HP Fire nor Flamethrower are Rock/Fairy/Ice moves so idk why this is included with these), and Ice-type(+hyphen) moves that threaten Dragonite like Ice Shard,(-comma) and increases offensive pressure by setting up Stealth Rock. It also has the ability to Defog away entry hazards, (+comma) which Dragonite appreciates. Thundurus can offensively support Dragonite by spreading status through Prankster Thunder Wave, allowing it to beat threats without having to risk breaking its Multiscale. Mega Charizard Y can be used to switch in to a predicted Will-O-Wisp and deal with Ice types and the physical walls that Dragonite cannot break. Landorus also pairs well with Dragonite,(+comma) as it can OHKO or 2HKO almost every physical wall that Dragonite cannot break through. Dragonite's wallbreaking capabilites are largely appreciated by Mega Gyarados, helping it sweep late-game(+hyphen). Landorus-T's can also support Dragonite well. The Choice Scarf set can be used to revenge kill Rock- and Steel-type foes that resist Extreme Speed. The defensive set works as a great defensive pivot and can set up Stealth Rock while providing a slow U-turn to bring Dragonite in safely. Gliscor can also pair well with Dragonite,(-comma) with its stallbreaking capabilities. It can stall out walls that threaten Dragonite like Porygon2 and bulky Water-type(+hyphen) Pokemon like Alomomola.

Dragon Dance boosts Dragonite's Attack and Speed, making it a great sweeper or cleaner. It outspeeds Pokemon such as like Mega Diancie, Latios, and Keldeo after one boost. Extreme Speed is a great priority move that priortizes over other attacks such as Sucker Punch, Ice Shard, and status moves from Prankster Pokemon such as Thundurus and Whimsicott. It's also good in at picking off weakened Pokemon. Outrage is Dragonite's most powerful STAB attack, hitting multiple types that don't resist the move hard. Dragon Claw can be used instead of Outrage so that Dragonite doesn't get locked into the attack,;(-comma,+semicolon) however there is a considerable difference in power,(+comma) as Outrage gives Dragonite much needed KOes compared to Dragon Claw. Fire Punch allows for Dragonite to deal massive damage to Skarmory, which otherwise walls Dragonite with Earthquake. Also, Fire Punch can OHKO Mega Scizor and Ferrothorn. Earthquake gives it coverage in hitting Mega Diancie, Azumarill,(+comma) and Heatran, however although it is walled by bulky Steel-types(+hyphen) like Skarmory and Ferrothorn.

Set Details
========

Maximum Attack EVs with an Adamant nature allows for Dragonite to hit harder and OHKO Keldeo and almost always OHKOes specially defensive Zapdos after a Dragon Dance boost.
Multiscale allows for Dragonite to set up Dragon Dance easier and halve any damage at full health. A Lum Berry is needed for Dragonite to freely set up Dragon Dance once and avoid any status that'll that will keep it from sweeping. Lum Berry keeps Multiscale's ability active in case a Pokemon tries to Will-O-Wisp or Toxic it. Additionally, it helps cure Dragonite of confusion from Outrage.

Usage Tips
========

Always keep Dragonite away from status moves and from Stealth Rock because it'll it will ruin Dragonite's chances of setting up safely. Lum Berry can be used to set up on Pokemon that threaten Dragonite with a burn, like such as Slowbro or and Alomomola, although it should be preserved as much as possible. Dragonite can be used as a mid- or late-game cleaner once all of its threats are weakened or gone. Despite Multiscale halving the damage Dragonite takes, it's highly recommended that Dragonite should not stay in to take any Ice-type attacks, as Dragonite will suffer heavy damage or be OHKO'ed(-apostrophe) by it.

Team Options
========

Zapdos and Skarmory make for good partners because both are able to remove entry hazards with Defog. Skarmory can switch into physical attackers and Fairy-types,(-comma) while setting up or removing entry hazards for Dragonite.(+period)(-space)Zapdos can provide support with Toxic and have Dragonite come in on a slow Volt Switch, which gives it an opportunity to come in safely(+space)and set up. Dragonite appreciates partners such as Mega Charizard (X or Y?) as a wallbreakers. It Mega Charizard (X or Y) can deal with Ice-types and switch into a predicted Will-O-Wisp that are would be problematic for Dragonite.
Landorus-T and Gyarados can soften attacks aimed at Dragonite with Intimidate, allowing for Dragonite to set up Dragon Dance more effectively. Landorus-T deserves a special mention,(+comma) as it can break through walls with its fearsome physical Attack. Dragonite appreciates defensive Landorus-T's ability to setting up Stealth Rock support and it can come in safely from use a slow U-turn so it can come in safely. Mega Gyarados can switch into predicted Ice-type(+hyphen) attacks for Dragonite and check Psychic-types such as Mew, Jirachi, Slowbro, and Mega Medicham. Both Mega Gyarados and Dragonite can put offensive pressure on the opposing team, as both Pokemon can set up with Dragon Dance. Togekiss can switches into a predicted Dragon-type attack for Dragonite. With access to Prankster, Thundurus can paralyze opposing Pokemon with Thunder Wave, allowing Dragonite to gain Speed control.

Weakness Policy is can be used with Multiscale for Dragonite to get a huge boost in its Attack and Special Attack, making it a much bigger threat. It can also run Fire Blast to ensure that Dragonite KOes Skarmory. However, Weakness Policy requires Dragonite to be hit by a super effective attack, meaning it will most likely be at low health after setting up,(-comma) and must have multiscale Multiscale intact before setting up. Iron Head gives Dragonite coverage against Fairy- and Rock-types. However, Earthquake and Fire Punch provide less type resists are resisted by fewer types. Thunder Punch gives Dragonite coverage in hitting Azumarill, Skarmory, and other Flying-types such as Togekiss super effectively; however, Fire Punch has more superior coverage. A specially defensive variant can also be run to check Water-types(+hyphen) like Volcanion.(+period)

Checks and Counters

**Physically Defensive Walls**: Dragonite has a tough time breaking through physically defensive walls such as Skarmory, Trace Porygon2, and Hippowdon. Skarmory carries Rocky Helmet, which deals passive damage to Dragonite once contact is made. It can replenish its health with Roost and act as a shuffler with Whirlwind while Stealth Rock is on the field. Porygon2 can trace Dragonite's Multiscale and 2HKO it with an Ice Beam. Porygon2 can also set a timer on it with Toxic or paralyze it with Thunder Wave. Hippowdon also carries Rocky Helmet and disrupts Dragonite's ablility to set up with Whirlwind. It can easily recover back damage that was dealt on it with Slack Off.

**Ice-types**: Despite having Fire Punch and Superpower, Dragonite is still vunerable to Ice-type Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Kyurem-B, Weavile, and Avalugg. Dragonite cannot afford to take any Ice-type attacks due to its 4x weakness. Many Ice-types carry Ice Shard, which can easily KO Dragonite once its Multiscale is broken.

**Fairy-types**: Dragonite's Outrage has no affect on Fairy-types, as so they can use that opportunity to get a free switch-in, against Fairy-types with dual typing.

**Stealth Rock and Status**: Stealth Rock and status can both ruin Dragonite's Multiscale, hindering its effectiveness as a sweeper.

**Faster Pokemon**: Faster Pokemon are going to be a huge problem for Dragonite if it hasn't has not set up Dragon Dance yet. Mega Lopunny can break its Multiscale with Fake Out and use Ice Punch afterwards. Choice Scarf Landorus-T can lower its Attack with Intimidate and use Stone Edge. Keldeo has access to Icy Wind, which will lower Dragonite's Speed, keeping it from outpacing Keldeo.

Choice Specs Pixilate-boosted Hyper Voice Sylveon can easily KO Dragonite. Togekiss can Thunder Wave Dragonite and proceed to flinch it with Air Slash.

**Stealth Rock and Status**: Stealth Rock and status can both ruin Dragonite's Multiscale, hindering its effectiveness as a sweeper.

**Flying**

Dragonite is a very strong physical attacker, being able to wallbreak multiple threats with Choice Band or sweep with Dragon Dance. It has excellent offensive coverage options that make it a great asset to Flying teams such as Superpower, Fire Punch,(-comma) and Earthquake. It Dragonite also has access to Extreme Speed, which allows Dragonite it to serve as a very reliable revenge killer. Dragonite has access to a great ability in Multiscale, which halves the damage it takes at full health. This can help it in setting up Dragon Dance safely. Paired with its decent bulk, it can also switch into unresisted moves quite safely if necessary. Unfortunately, Dragonite has a huge weakness to Ice-type moves and that can be exploited due to several by Pokemon who carrying Ice-type coverage moves such as Mega Lopunny and Keldeo. Dragonite's weakness to Stealth Rock ruins Multiscale's effectiveness and makes it more difficult to set up. It also has a mediocre Speed tier and is usually useless in the Fairy matchup. However with its vast movepool and raw power, Dragonite functions as a great wallbreaker and it can be hard to revenge kill with its priority in Extreme Speed once boosted.

A Choice Band-boosted STAB Outrage from Dragonite hits extremely hard, generally OHKOing anything that isn't a wall or resists it. Extreme Speed allows it to pick off weakened pokemon Pokemon that have set up like Mega Gyarados or revenge kill certain threats such as Weavile after Stealth Rock. Fire Punch is used to hit Steel-types that would otherwise wall Dragonite like Skarmory and Ferrothorn, and pick up KOs on Mega Scizor and Bisharp. Earthquake gives it Dragonite great coverage,(+comma) in hitting Steel- and Rock-types for super effective damage,(-comma) and KOing Mega Diancie. Superpower can be used over Earthquake, although Dragonite loses out on the ability to 2HKO Doublade and the only effective way to damage Azumarill becomes Extreme Speed. Earthquake has a very good chance of OHKOing Azumarill after it uses Belly Drum if it has taken Stealth Rock damage and always does after a little prior damage, while Extreme Speed cannot do the same. Superpower can be used to break the Normal-type defensive core, of Porygon2 and Chansey, which can otherwise pose a problem to Flying teams. It also hits Steel-types super effectively,(-comma) and picks up an OHKO on Air Balloon Heatran.

Maximum Attack investment with an Adamant nature is given to maximizes Dragonite's sweeping potential. An Adamant nature is preferred in order to maximize its offensive presence and becomes relevant when revenge killing threats with Extreme Speed. The Adamant nature also gives a chance to 2HKO both Leftovers and Rocky Helmet Skarmory with Fire Punch. A Choice Band is the item of choice, increasing Dragonite's damage output. Multiscale ensures Dragonite can get off a hit on a Pokemon without the risk of being KOed.

Usage Tips
========

Dragonite is best used as a hit-and-run attacker, doing damage andthen and then switching out. It should be used early-(-comma) or mid-game to wallbreak for its team, helping the setup sweepers clean late game. Preserving Multiscale should be the top priority, and the field should be kept clear of entry hazards. Dragonite should absolutely avoid status. Toxic poison and burn remove Multiscale and a burn will halve its damage output. It can work as a revenge killer with Extreme Speed and can clean late-game. Outrage should not be used when there are Pokemon that can knock out Dragonite after a kill like Lopunny, Diancie, Magnezone, and Ditto, or when there are Steel-types, such as Scizor and Doublade, and Fairy-types, such as Belly Drum Azumarill, that can set up on it while locked in to into Outrage.

Team Options
========

Skarmory and Zapdos pair well with Dragonite because together they have the ability to wall almost every hit and can set and remove entry hazards. The Defog support from Zapdos is invaluable to Dragonite in preventing Multiscale from breaking. Additionally, it can help whittle down walls that Dragonite can't break with Toxic and can get off a slow Volt Switch to bring in Dragonite safely. Skarmory switches into the Rock-, Fairy-, bar Hidden Power Fire Diancie or Flamethrower Clefable, and Ice- type (remove the space between the hyphen and 'type') moves that threaten Dragonite like Ice Shard and increases offensive pressure by setting up Stealth Rock. It also has the ability to Defog away entry hazards, which Dragonite appreciates. Thundurus can offensively support Dragonite by spreading status through Prankster Thunder Wave, allowing it to beat threats without having to risk breaking its Multiscale. Mega Charizard Y can be used to switch in to into a predicted Will-O-Wisp and deal with Ice types and the physical walls that Dragonite cannot break. Landorus also pairs well with Dragonite, as it can OHKO or 2HKO almost every physical wall that Dragonite cannot break through. Dragonite's wallbreaking capabilites capabilities are largely appreciated by Mega Gyarados, helping it sweep late-game. Landorus-T's Choice Scarf set can be used to revenge kill Rock- and Steel-type foes that resist Extreme Speed. The defensive set works as a great defensive pivot and can set up Stealth Rock while providing a slow U-turn to bring Dragonite in safely. Gliscor can also pair well with Dragonite with its stallbreaking capabilities. It can stall out walls that threaten Dragonite like Porygon2 and bulky Water-type Pokemon like Alomomola.

Dragon Dance boosts Dragonite's Attack and Speed, making it a great sweeper or cleaner. It outspeeds Pokemon like Mega Diancie, Latios, and Keldeo after one boost. Extreme Speed is priortizes prioritized over other attacks such as Sucker Punch, Ice Shard, and status moves from Prankster Pokemon such as Thundurus and Whimsicott. It's also good at picking off weakened Pokemon. Outrage is Dragonite's most powerful STAB attack, hitting multiple types that don't resist the move hard. Dragon Claw can be used instead of Outrage so that Dragonite doesn't get locked into the attack; however there is a considerable difference in power, as Outrage gives Dragonite much needed KOs compared to Dragon Claw. Fire Punch allows for Dragonite to deal massive damage to Skarmory, which otherwise walls Dragonite with Earthquake. Also, Fire Punch can OHKO Mega Scizor and Ferrothorn. Earthquake gives it coverage in hitting Mega Diancie, Azumarill, and Heatran, although it is walled by bulky Steel-types like Skarmory and Ferrothorn.

Set Details
========

Maximum Attack EVs with an Adamant nature allows for Dragonite to hit harder and OHKO Keldeo and almost always OHKO specially defensive Zapdos after a Dragon Dance boost. Multiscale allows for Dragonite to set up Dragon Dance easier and halve any damage at full health. A Lum Berry is needed for Dragonite to freely set up Dragon Dance once and avoid any status that will keep it from sweeping. Lum Berry keeps Multiscale's ability active in case a Pokemon tries to Will-O-Wisp or Toxic it. Additionally, it helps cure Dragonite of confusion from Outrage.

Usage Tips
========

Always keep Dragonite away from status moves and Stealth Rock because it will ruin Dragonite's chances of setting up safely. Lum Berry can be used to set up on Pokemon that threaten Dragonite with a burn, such as Slowbro and Alomomola, although it should be preserved for as much long as possible. Dragonite can be used as a mid-(remove hyphen) or late-game cleaner once all of its threats checks are weakened or gone. Despite Multiscale halving the damage Dragonite takes, it's highly recommended that Dragonite should not stay in to take any Ice-type attacks, as Dragonite will suffer heavy damage or be OHKOed by it them.

Team Options
========

Zapdos and Skarmory make for good partners because both are able to remove entry hazards with Defog. Skarmory can switch into physical attackers and Fairy-types while setting up or removing entry hazards for Dragonite. Zapdos can provide support with Toxic and have Dragonite come in on a slow Volt Switch, which gives it an opportunity to come in safely and set up. Dragonite also appreciates partners such as Mega Charizard Y who act as wallbreakers. Mega Charizard Y can deal with Ice-types and switch into a predicted Will-O-Wisp that would problematic for Dragonite. Landorus-T and Gyarados can soften attacks aimed at Dragonite with Intimidate, allowing for Dragonite to set up Dragon Dance more effectively. Landorus-T deserves a special mention, as it can break through walls with its fearsome physical Attack. With access to Prankster, Thundurus can paralyze opposing Pokemon with Thunder Wave, allowing Dragonite to gain Speed control.

Weakness Policy can be used in tandem with Multiscale to give for Dragonite to get a huge boost in to its Attack and Special Attack, making it a much bigger threat. It can also run Fire Blast to ensure that Dragonite the KO on Skarmory. However, Weakness Policy requires Dragonite to be hit by a super effective attack, meaning it will most likely be at low health after setting up and must have Multiscale intact before setting up doing so. Iron Head gives Dragonite coverage against Fairy- and Rock-types. However, Earthquake and Fire Punch are resisted by fewer types. Thunder Punch gives Dragonite coverage in hitting Azumaril, Skarmory, and other Flying-types such as Togekiss super effectively; however, Fire Punch has more superior coverage. A specially defensive variant can also be run to check Water-types like Volcanion.

Hippowdon also carries Rocky Helmet and disrupts Dragonite's ability to set up with Whirlwind. It can easily recover back damage that was dealt on to it with Slack Off.

**Ice-types**: Despite having Fire Punch and Superpower, Dragonite is still vunerable vulnerable to Ice-type Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Kyurem-B, Weavile, and Avalugg. Dragonite cannot afford to take any Ice-type attacks due to its 4x weakness. Many Ice-types carry Ice Shard, which can easily KO Dragonite once its Multiscale is broken.

**Fairy-types**: Dragonite's Outrage has no affect effect on Fairy-types, so they can use that opportunity to get a free switch-in. Dragonite would have to rely on its coverage moves to deal damage. Pilobacon Nice job overall. There were a few of changes I deemed a bit unnecessary, and you accidentally removed a serial comma at the start. Good job on catching some things I missed tho !_!

Conni You also need to look out for unnecessary changes (imo, stuff like "increasing Dragonite's Attack stat greatly" isn't really any better than "increasing Dragonite's damage output"; since neither is wrong, we give the point to the original) and there were a few mistakes involving Spelling/Grammar Standards stuff (i.e. we don't fully capitalize "specially defensive Zapdos" when mentioned in a paragraph). Great catch on the Megas though. Keep working at it O:

(trying to maintain the main points you're making while also getting rid of repeated material) The Defog support from Zapdos is invaluable to Dragonite in preventing Multiscale from breaking. (already mentioned that it has Defog support) Additionally, it Zapdos can help whittle down walls that Dragonite can't break with Toxic and can get off a slow Volt Switch to bring in Dragonite safely. Skarmory switches into the Rock-, Fairy-, bar those from (bit of a weird change, but you're listing off moves Skarmory can switch into, not Pokemon) Hidden Power Fire Diancie or Flamethrower Clefable, and Ice- type Ice-type moves that threaten Dragonite like Ice Shard and increases offensive pressure by setting up Stealth Rock. It also has the ability to Defog away entry hazards, which Dragonite appreciates. (already mentioned that it has Defog support) Thundurus can offensively support Dragonite by spreading status through Prankster Thunder Wave, allowing it to beat threats without having to risk breaking its Multiscale. Mega Charizard Y can be used to switch in to into a predicted Will-O-Wisp and deal with Ice types the Ice-types and the physical walls that Dragonite cannot break. The defensive set works can work as a great defensive pivot and can set up Stealth Rock while providing a slow U-turn to bring Dragonite in safely. Gliscor can also pair well with Dragonite with , (AC) using its stallbreaking capabilities. It can to stall out walls that threaten Dragonite like such as Porygon2 and bulky Water-type Pokemon like Alomomola.

Dragon Dance boosts Dragonite's Attack and Speed, making it a great sweeper or cleaner. It outspeeds Pokemon like such as Mega Diancie, Latios, and Keldeo after one boost. Extreme Speed is priortizes over outprioritizes other attacks such as Sucker Punch, Ice Shard, and status moves from Prankster Pokemon such as Thundurus and Whimsicott. It's also good at picking off weakened Pokemon. Outrage is Dragonite's most powerful STAB attack, hitting multiple types that don't resist the move hard. Dragon Claw can be used instead of Outrage so that Dragonite doesn't get locked into the attack; however, (AC) there is a considerable difference in power, as so Outrage gives Dragonite much-needed (add hyphen) KOs compared to that Dragon Claw cannot. (awkward wording, tried to make it sound a bit nicer) Fire Punch allows for Dragonite to deal massive damage to Skarmory, which otherwise walls Dragonite with Earthquake. Also, Fire Punch can , (AC) and OHKO Mega Scizor and Ferrothorn. Earthquake gives it coverage in hitting Mega Diancie, Azumarill, and Heatran, although it is walled by bulky Steel-types like Skarmory and Ferrothorn.

Set Details
========

Maximum Attack EVs with an Adamant nature allows allow for Dragonite to hit harder and, (AC) OHKO Keldeo, (AC) and almost always OHKO specially defensive Zapdos after a Dragon Dance boost. Multiscale allows for Dragonite to set up Dragon Dance easier more easily and halve by halving any damage at full health.

Usage Tips
========

Always keep Dragonite away from status moves and Stealth Rock because it will ruin Dragonite's chances of setting up safely. The Lum Berry can be used to set up on Pokemon that threaten Dragonite with a burn, such as Slowbro and Alomomola, although it should be preserved for as much long as possible. Dragonite can be used as a mid- or late-game cleaner once all of its threats are weakened or gone. Despite Multiscale halving the damage Dragonite takes, it's highly recommended that Dragonite should does not stay in to take on any Ice-type attacks, as Dragonite will suffer heavy damage or be OHKOed by it them.

Team Options

Zapdos and Skarmory make for good partners because both are able to remove entry hazards with Defog. Skarmory can switch into physical attackers and Fairy-types while setting up or removing entry hazards for Dragonite. Zapdos can provide support with Toxic and have Dragonite come in on a slow Volt Switch, which gives it an opportunity to come in safely and set up. Dragonite appreciates partners wallbreakers such as Mega Charizard Y as wallbreakers partners. Landorus-T deserves a special mention, as it can break through walls with its fearsome physical Attack. With its access to Prankster, Thundurus can paralyze opposing Pokemon with Thunder Wave, allowing Dragonite to gain Speed speed control.

(it makes far more sense to put this sentence here. Also did "doing so" > "setting up" to avoid repetition) It can also run Fire Blast to ensure that Dragonite KOes Skarmory. However, Weakness Policy requires Dragonite to be hit by a super effective attack, meaning it will most likely be at low health after setting up and must have Multiscale intact before setting up. Iron Head gives Dragonite coverage against Fairy- and Rock-types. (remove period) ; (add semicolon) (with the shortness of this sentence it makes more sense to use a semicolon) However, however, Earthquake and Fire Punch are resisted by fewer types. Thunder Punch gives Dragonite coverage in hitting Azumaril, Skarmory, and other Flying-types such as Togekiss super effectively; however, Fire Punch has more superior coverage. A specially defensive variant can also be run to check Water-types like Volcanion.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Flying**

**Physically Defensive Walls**: Dragonite has a tough time breaking through physically defensive walls such as Skarmory, Trace Porygon2, and Hippowdon. Skarmory carries Rocky Helmet, which deals passive damage to Dragonite once contact is made. It can replenish its health with Roost and act as a shuffler with Whirlwind while Stealth Rock is on the field (I think I get the point you're trying to make with this sentence, that it can phaze Dragonite and break it's Multiscale with SR, but the way it's written makes it feel kinda out of place...maybe try rewriting it to tie it back into Dragonite?). Porygon2 can trace Dragonite's Multiscale and can either 2HKO it with an Ice Beam. Porygon2 can also , (AC) set a timer on it with Toxic, (AC) or paralyze it with Thunder Wave. Hippowdon also carries Rocky Helmet and , (AC) disrupts Dragonite's ability to set up with Whirlwind. It can , (AC) and easily recover recovers back damage that was dealt on to it with Slack Off.

**Ice-types**: Despite having Fire Punch and Superpower, Dragonite is still vunerable vulnerable to Ice-type Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Kyurem-B, Weavile, and Avalugg. (remove period) ; (add semicolon) Dragonite cannot afford to take any Ice-type attacks due to its 4x weakness.

Choice Band Azumarill is able to OHKO Dragonite with Play Rough or use Dragonite as setup fodder with Belly Drum. Choice Specs Sylveon's Pixilate-boosted Hyper Voice Sylveon can easily KO Dragonite. Togekiss can Thunder Wave Dragonite and proceed to flinch it with Air Slash.

**Stealth Rock and Status**: Both Stealth Rock and status can both ruin Dragonite's Multiscale, hindering its effectiveness as a sweeper. Status can severely hinder Dragonite's longevity in battle. Burns will cripple Dragonite's Attack and poison Toxic (I know it's implied you mean toxic but clarification is still nice) damage can increase each turn. Dragonite should be wary of paralysis, especially when running Dragon Dance. Notable Pokemon that can spread status are Mandibuzz, Chansey, Thundurus, Porygon2, Zapdos, Sableye, and Mew.

**Faster Pokemon**: Faster Pokemon are going to be a huge problem for Dragonite if it has not set up Dragon Dance yet. Mega Lopunny can break its Multiscale with Fake Out and use Ice Punch afterwards. Choice Scarf Landorus-T can lower its Dragonite's Attack with Intimidate and use Stone Edge. Keldeo has access to Icy Wind, which will lower Dragonite's Speed, keeping it from outpacing Keldeo.

Dragonite is a very strong physical attacker, being able to wallbreak multiple threats with Choice Band or sweep with Dragon Dance. It has excellent offensive coverage options that make it a great asset to Flying teams such as Superpower, Fire Punch, and Earthquake. It also has access to Extreme Speed, which allows Dragonite to serve as a very reliable revenge killer. Dragonite has access to a great ability in Multiscale, which halves the damage it takes at full health. This can help in setting up Dragon Dance safely. Paired with its decent bulk, it can also switch into unresisted moves quite safely if necessary. Unfortunately, Dragonite has a huge weakness to Ice-type moves and that can be exploited due to several Pokemon carrying Ice -type coverage moves such as Mega Lopunny and Keldeo. Dragonite's weakness to Stealth Rock ruins Multiscale's effectiveness and makes it more difficult for it to set up. It also has a mediocre Speed tier and is usually useless in the Fairy matchup. However , (AC) with its vast movepool and raw power, Dragonite functions as a great wallbreaker and it can be hard to revenge kill with its priority in Extreme Speed once boosted.

A Choice Band-boosted STAB Outrage from Dragonite hits extremely hard, generally OHKOing anything that isn't a wall or doesn't resists resist it. Extreme Speed allows it to pick off weakened pokemon that have set up like such as Mega Gyarados or revenge kill certain threats such as Weavile after Stealth Rock. Fire Punch is used to hit Steel-types that would otherwise wall Dragonite like Skarmory and Ferrothorn, and pick up KOs on Mega Scizor and Bisharp. Earthquake gives it great coverage in hitting Steel- and Rock-types for super effective damage, and KOing Mega Diancie. Superpower can be used to break the Normal-type defensive core, core of Porygon2 and Chansey, which can otherwise pose a problem to Flying teams. It also hits Steel-types super effectively, and picks up an OHKO on Air Balloon Heatran.

Maximum Attack investment with an Adamant nature is given to maximize Dragonite's sweeping potential. Outrage should not be used when there are Pokemon that can knock out Dragonite after a kill KO like such as Lopunny, Diancie, Magnezone, and Ditto, or when there are Steel-types, such as Scizor and Doublade, and or Fairy-types, such as Belly Drum Azumarill, that can set up on it while locked in to Outrage.

Both Mega Gyarados and Dragonite can put offensive pressure on the opposing team, as both Pokemon can set up with Dragon Dance. Togekiss can switch into a predicted Dragon-type attack for Dragonite. With its access to Prankster, Thundurus can paralyze opposing Pokemon with Thunder Wave, allowing Dragonite to gain providing speed control for Dragonite.

It can also run Fire Blast to ensure that it Dragonite KOes Skarmory. Iron Head gives Dragonite coverage against Fairy- and Rock-types; however, Earthquake and Fire Punch are resisted by fewer types. Thunder Punch gives Dragonite coverage in hitting on Azumarill, Skarmory, and other Flying-types such as Togekiss super effectively; however, Fire Punch has superior coverage. A specially defensive variant can also be run to check Water-types like Volcanion.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Flying**: (add colon)

**Physically Defensive Walls**: Dragonite has a tough time breaking through physically defensive walls such as Skarmory, Trace Porygon2, and Hippowdon. Hippowdon and Skarmory can carry Rocky Helmet, which can break Multiscale; disrupt Dragonite's with Whirlwind; and easily recover damage dealt to them. Porygon2 can trace Dragonite's Multiscale and can either 2HKO it with an Ice Beam, set a timer on it with Toxic, or paralyze it with Thunder Wave.

**Ice-types**: Despite having Fire Punch and Superpower, Dragonite is still vulnerable to Ice-type Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Kyurem-B, Weavile, and Avalugg; it Dragonite cannot afford to take any Ice-type attacks due to its 4x weakness.

Choice Band Azumarill is able to OHKO Dragonite with Play Rough or use Dragonite it as setup fodder with Belly Drum. Sylveon's Choice Specs- and Pixilate-boosted Hyper Voice can easily KO Dragonite. Togekiss can Thunder Wave Dragonite and proceed to make it flinch it with Air Slash.

**Stealth Rock and Status**: Both Stealth Rock and status can ruin Dragonite's Multiscale, hindering its effectiveness as a sweeper. Status can severely hinder Dragonite's longevity in battle. Burns will cripple Dragonite's Attack, (AC) and Toxic damage can increases each turn.
