Mew: so first is mew which is essentially the 4 moveslot syndrome pokemon. Personally ive found these 4 to be the best though you can add stealth rock if you feel it benefits you more. Knock off is in my opinion superior to rocks on mew and on this team because without it you end up being full support you have no attacking ability. Knock off can be insanely useful from knocking off eviolites softening up the team for mega gard@normal to weakening landorus-incarnate or even neutering specs kindra on water. Knock off is that kind of a catch all move where no matter what team your fighting it’s gonna have a use. Roost is for recovery, defog is for hazard control and will o is to cripple the opposing side things like this mew has enough speed to outspeed jolly base 70s (breloom, bisharp though adamant bisharp is more common) so you can always get off a burn on a mon which is a pain. mew also lives any choice banded hit from excadrill so you can use will o if you want to cripple the mon that 2hkos a slowbro, other than this mew is a really nice all-rounder with very respectable bulk.
Slowbro: really great physical wall has t-wave to cripple the opposing team this is really nice in general but in the case of this team it makes Gardevoir’s spread more effective. As for the offensive moves you have stab scald for the burning and I like psyshock a lot as it gives you a secondary base 80 stab move but also destroys CM Keldeo which whilst isn’t a particular massive threat is nice to have as a backup. Flamethrower is also an option as it helps deal with steel though due to the Hoopa-U set I don’t think it’s really necessary but if you’re struggling with steel I’d swap them out.
Victini: standard tini set acts as a great pivot can do great damage to most neutral mons with v-create and has good overall coverage with this set. I run zen over blue flare mainly cause i've never really had trouble with bug in general so i appriciate the coverage more but if you struggle versus bug i'd definetly add it as well as this it's a nice way to use a strong fire stab move without worrying about the unnecessary drops though as victini is the only fast mon on this team it's important for it to be carrying a psychic stab move.
Mega Gardevoir: this is in my personal opinion one of the best mega gard EV spreads for psychic monotype. This spread beats a lot of the massive threats psychic struggle with and can’t normally handle. First up a summary this baby lives a plus 1 ANYTHING from a adamant max invested mega gyarados, anything from a mega sharpedo, anything from a plus 2 mega gallade after rocks and lives a BP from a max atk mega scizor (I woudn’t advise staying in verses a mega scizor it’s simply a example of bulk though if you’ve lost your tini and your hoopa can’t take a bp at the hp range it’s on I guess you could fire off a will o) (note doesn’t live banded scizor BP) it also lives a hyperspace fury from hoopa-U (makes psychic v psychic easier). It also has almost the exact same amount of SpA as max speed max SpA timid mega gard (this gard has 421 spa max spa max speed has 429) and it outspeeds adamant bisharp which is the most common bisharp rn (sprite gallery). Whilst there are a massive amount of positives there are a 2 minor downsides to it that will be covered in the “weaknesses” part of the RMT. As for the moves hyper voice is obvious same with psyshock, I love using will o as it can be used on so many occasions though sub could also be used I just dislike how to weakens the longevity of this particular spread, focus blast is mainly for steel among other things. whilst i run the minimum speed necessary to outspeed adamant bisharp/adamant base 70's and below, if you don't mind sacrificing some power/bulk you can add a bit more into speed in an attempt to always outspeed things that try to speed creep bisharp like zapdos.
Gallade: personally I adore AV gallade on psychic like I think it’s amazing. It lives a plus 6 bug buzz from volcarona (don’t let it get up to plus 6 pls) and 2 fire blasts from a timid mega char y in sun (0.4% chance to get killed so depends on how unlucky you really are it also has a 37.1% chance to die if rocks are in), and It can one shot both of them with a rock slide. It has knock off which can be great in weakening many teams it also makes this thing really scary for most of the mons normal has which is a nice bonus, drain punch is a solid stab move and gives you decent recovery on a massively specially bulky set so it’s incredibly useful. Personally I prefer priority of shadow sneak on this set over something like zen headbutt it allows you to break the sash of things faster than you if you’re about to die likewise it allows you to kill pokemon on their sash as well as snipe weakened sweepers in general I think it’s a really solid move for psychic monotype and for gallade in general.
Hoopa-U: this is steelkiller steel and hats off to Kaiser for coming up with the idea. It makes hoopa a massive threat against steel and gives you a good chance of beating it. I run a somewhat different EV spread to Kaiser’s (shout out to void Lycan for helping with this spread). So I run 96 hp so slowbros/gastrodon can’t break the sub with scald (gastro can break it if it runs earthquake). 180 speed to outspeed bisharp/breloom this means hoopa-u v bisharp is really easy for hoopa to win as scarf hoopa is the most common item on both psychic and dark (sprite gallery) you just sub up if they predict you theres still the 50/50s since you one shot with drain punch, hp fire kills non bulk mega scizor and does massive damage to bulky mega scizor (using the standard OU bulky SD calc spread for bulky mega scizor it does 79.3-93.2%). It also does massive dmg to ferrothorn but cannot ohko (using the standard OU utility calc spread it does 69.3-81.8%). whilst it cannot ohko either bulky mega scizor or ferrothorn it does massive damage to both and makes it very difficult for scizor at that range to heal back up which is great for fighting steel, dark pulse is just a nice reliable stab move that has a nice increase in power thanks to the spa investment and gives a nice balance of special/physical moves. In general this hoopa is specially geared for psy vs steel so it’s not as good as scarf hoopa v some other types but can still perform well versus the majority of them. This being said because it’s not scarf hoopa it makes psy v psy more difficult (gard spread makes that problem less of an issue but it is still a problem either way)
Strengths of this Psychic Monotype (that most generic psys don’t already have): can handle +1 mega gyarados, mega sharpedo and plus 2 mega gallade with mega gard the first of those 2 mons cause absolute chaos to psychic so having a way to pin that down is a godsend and being able to take down mega lade after rocks which is nice bonus though victini can do the same so long as it hasn’t switched into rocks twice also easily full on counters volcarona with gallade (tini can do this though can be chipped easily in the game) in general due to mega gards spread it can live a lot more hits while dishing out even more damage and outspeeding the majority of things it could at max speed anyway. Due to steelkiller hoopa psy v steel whilst not easy is a very plausible match up and played well you can win it.
Weaknesses of this Psychic Monotype (that most generic psys don’t already have): due to gard being unable to outspeed things like specs/LO hydreigon AV Lade is a necessity (though a very good mon which I’d run either way) this sounds fine as AV gallade is a solid check to specs dreigon it does mean you are weaker to ground as you don’t really have a space for latios this doesn’t make ground incredibly hard to beat it just makes it slightly harder and requires smarter playing. Hoopa-U isn’t as useful in psy v psy giving you a bit of a disadvantage tho as gard lives a hyperspace fury and it’s expected to die the surprise factor can quite easily give you the kill and even without that it becomes a way to deal with hoopa u
