Yo, I'm new to competitive Pokémon, so any advices are welcome! I read alot in order to make this team, making alot of changes in the process and trying my best to balance things out. So, here we go.
Scizor @ Scizorizite
Trait: Technician
EVs: 252 HP / 40 Atk / 216 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Bullet Punch
- Swords Dance
- Bug Bite
- Roost
Scizor is my SD physical sweeper, and my personal favorite pokemon. With M-Scizor's bulk and EV spread, I can tank special hits, and once fire attacks are down, switch in and set up. If I can get one or two Swords Dance off, it's hard to stop Scizor from sweeping entire teams. Bullet Punch is a must on most Scizor sets, because of STAB and priority (and also now, fairies being weak to Steel), and Bug Bite provides coverage that my team doesn't have, while still being a powerful STAB attack. Roost so I can heal up the damage that I took while setting up.
Aegislash @ Life Orb
Trait: Stance Change
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 SpA
IVs: 0 Spe
Quiet Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Sacred Sword
- Shadow Sneak
- Iron Head
Aegislash is my wallbreaker and main pivot. With its amazing power and good coverage, with good using it can weaken teams enough and deal with bulky fairies so my Talonflame can come in and finish the job. I prefered the Mixed Aegislash, since Shadow Ball hits so hard, and I feel King's Shield a bit lackluster, since it's easily predictable, and my plan is to do constant switches, and while Swords Dance give Aegislash sweeping potential, I prefer the Iron Head coverage to deal with fairies. Shadow Sneak ensures that I can finish things weakened by Shadow Ball, making it a great combo.
Greninja @ Life Orb
Trait: Protean
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Dark Pulse
- U-Turn
Greninja is here for coverage, and he does an amazing job with 4 STAB attacks, thanks to Protean. While I do carry Rotom-W for water type, I feel that my team was too vulnerable to Dragons, since there wasn't real counters to them. I was using Hydreigon before, so I changed it for Greninja, which still provides Dark Pulse coverage, which only got better in Generation VI, and gets Ice Beam to deal with Dragons and others. I also use U-Turn, which greatly synergizes with Volt Switch from Rotom-W and U-Turn from Talonflame, making it a great Volt-turn core.
Talonflame @ Choice Band
Trait: Gale Wings
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- U-Turn
- Tailwind
Talonflame is here for revenge kill and also a late game cleaner. Few things can take a Choice Banded priority Brave Bird and come out alive. Flare Blitz is my only fire coverage in my team, which is also incredible powerful, allowing me to hit Steel types for amazing damage. U-Turn for the Volt-turn synergy, and Tailwind when an opportunity comes up. Once all Talonflame counters are out, it can come and clean up evertyhing. It's also my check to Mega Lucario, who seems to bet pretty popular. Also, I don't know if I should use Jolly nature, so I can outspeed Landorus and kill with Flare Blitz.
Rotom-W @ Chesto Berry
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Will-O-Wisp
- Rest
Rotom-W is an vital part of my core (what's a Volt-Turn without Volt Switch?), and usually my lead. I don't think I can go wrong with the most used pokémon in the PokeBank OU meta. With this EV spread, it can easily take care of Talonflame, which is a hure threat, and checks alot of other things with its great typing. He provides an EQ switch-in, and completes the Volt-Turn core, keepind the momentum in my favor. I prefer the ChestoRest variation, since Pain Split appears, to me, unreliable, and Rest can give me an entire new life.
Excadrill @ Air Ballon
Trait: Mold Breaker
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Stealth Rock/Swords Dance (not sure what to get)
Excadrill is my spinner and Rotom-W counter, since it appers to be everywhere. With mold breaker, Gengar can't spinblock because of Earthquake OHKOing it, while also dealing with Aegislash, who only survives the OHKO with HP or Def EVs, even in Shield form. My only question is if I should get Swords Dance for a chance of sweeping or Stealth Rock to ensure KOs for my team. I'm thinking of get Stealth Rock, since Excadrill already hits hard, but still not sure. Stealth Rock ensures that i'll be able to OHKO Genesect with priority Brave Bird, but Swords Dance give Excadrill amazing sweep potential. Also, still unsure if I should go for a Jolly nature, in order to outspeed some threats that I read about.
I've got two questions:
As I said earlier, I swap Hydreigon for Greninja. Would be better to keep Hydreigon and swap Excadrill for Starmie (which has similar coverage to Greninja)? But I think with this I would be missing the Earthquake and Rock Slide, since I got no other ground or rock moves.
I'm not sure if I should run Adamant or Jolly in Talonflame. If I run Jolly with 144 Spe, it allows me to outspeed positive natures M-Lucario and Thundurus, but I don't know if I will miss some important KOs due to the attack lost. But Jolly also allow me to invest more in HP (112). Any advices?
