XY Doubles Please rate my new team (doubles)

Hi
first of all let me just say, i am new to this site so i apologise for any errors. Anyway, could anybody please rate my team (a doubles team), which by the way is an ou metagame team, please and give any advice as to how to make it better or how to change it.

Team Building Process

I started with mega charizard y because it is an absolute beast as a special sweeper, OHKOing many things with its drought ability. Heat wave is a great move which can hit both my opponents pokemon and with drought has around 362 power against a 200 defense pokemon. Solar beam can hit without charging and against water pokemon and i have dragon pulse to defeat dragons.

Next, was garchomp. One of the best physical sweepers in the game with high speed and pairs well with mega charizard y since i will have on my team 1 special sweeper and 1 physical sweeper so that tanks or walls can't out stall me for long. Also, when they pair up at the beginning, garchomps phenomenal earthquake won't hit mega charizard y because charizard is immune and mega charizard y's heat wave won't do much damage to garchomp. Also, mega charizard y covers gar chomps ice weakness.

Then, salamence came to join the party. It is a great mixed sweeper which means tanks and walls are pretty much useless against it since it can counter a physical and a special tank/wall. Also, i can trick people into making people think i am using a physical salamence when i can then reveal that it also has special moves. Again, pairs well with mega charizard y and garchomp for his earthquake.

Scizor is the next member of my team. A great set up sweeper which utilises swords dance and priority bullet punch. The main idea with this pokemon, is to use swords dance and then sweep practically all pokemon with bullet punch. Bullet punch is also boosted with technician, life orb and STAB.

Finally we get into the tanks. Ferrothorn is my physical tank in this set, great defense, special defense and hp combined with gyro ball which normally hits with an astonishing 150 base power and power whip to obliterate opponents. Stealth rock is also there for set up purposes and leftovers just helps ferrothorn from fainting.

Our last pokemon is wash pokemon. A great special tank that can absorb special hits from popular pokemon choices like gardevoir and mega charizard y. Also has thunder wave to paralyse and then allow a sweeper to come in (from my team) and demolish that pokemon. Also since two of my pokemon are incredibly weak to fire, wash rotor protects them from any threats.

I'll work past the format lol.

First off I'd replace Scizor with Heatran. Scizor does not like the sun and there are alot of opposing Heatrans and Zard Ys going to be coming at you on the ladder. Heatran also works with my next suggestion.

Heatran (M) @ Shuca Berry
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 168 HP / 252 SpA / 88 Spe
Modest Nature
- Heat Wave
- Earth Power
- Substitute
- Protect

Using fire weak mons on a sun team is OK, but make sure you use the right ones. Ferrothorn won't like sitting around in the sun either, so I'd replace it with Venusaur to give you the option of the Zard Y Venu lead.

Venusaur @ Life Orb
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 180 HP / 252 SpA / 76 Spe
Modest Nature
- Sludge Bomb
- Giga Drain
- Sleep Powder
- Protect.

In sun, Venusaur outspeeds pretty much the entire unboosted meta, and the fast sleep option can buy you alot of free turns. Dual STABs and a protect option to buy even more time, and protect while you swap Zard back in.

I would use Focus Blast or Hidden Power Ground on Zard Y instead of Dragon Pulse, they both hit Heatran for around the same, which one depends on what you think you'll need more.

If your Rotom is working thats fine, but try using this set up and see how it works.

Rotom-Wash @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 36 Def / 96 SpA / 124 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Thunderbolt
- Will-O-Wisp
- Protect

Hi daniele1234, your team looks really decent at a glance but some of the sets could use some improvement. Here are my suggestions:

Set Changes

Your Charizard set is ok, but most of the time Charizard shouldn't be taking a hit from a dragon anyway. Therefore, I recommend using Overheat or Fire Blast> Dragon Pulse in order to kill something you absolutely need dead. Either one does a lot more damage to a single target, so it will help you get you past Wide Guard and kill something you absolutely need knocked out. Overheat might seem mediocre because of the Special Attack drop, but the philosophy is that after you faint something, they will bring out a check/counter and you'd likely be switching out regardless of the drop. Overheat can still 2HKO some stuff anyway because it's so powerful.

I think you should try SpaceBass's Rotom-W set. It's more standard but works a lot better than what you have now.

You should use Protect > Stealth Rocks on ferrothorn because hazards aren't too helpful in such a fast-paced meta and Protect can help you stall while you get into a better position. It will also stall out turns for extra Leech Seed recovery.

Pokémon Changes

Use Scrafty and Aegislash instead of Salamence and Scizor.

scrafty.gif

Scrafty @ Assault Vest
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Fake Out
- Ice Punch
- Drain Punch
- Knock Off

I personally think Scrafty is a better option over Salamence for several reasons. Even though Scrafty is kinda slow (no, really slow), it can knock out a lot of stuff that you have trouble with. Heatran, Tyranitar, Latios, Cresselia, Landorus-T, Garchomp, Hydreigon and Mega Kangaskhan are all threats to your team that Scrafty can take out with the right coverage move. Fake Out disrupts momentum and can help you possibly gang up on a choiced Pokemon or something that doesn't have Protect. Intimidate gives your team some nice physical bulk by reducing the power of physical attackers and Assault Vest helps you more easily take moves like Draco Meteor. Scrafty's defensive typing lets you switch into several things without fear such as Stone Edge which threatens your Charizard. Furthermore, Scrafty + Ferrothorn absolutely destroys most Trick Room teams.
aegislash.gif

Aegislash @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Stance Change
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Shadow Ball
- Wide Guard
- Flash Cannon
- King's Shield

While Aegislash has more weaknesses than Scizor, its resistances and immunities are more important. Fighting immunity supports Scrafty and Ferrothorn while ice and rock resistance helps out Garchomp and Charizard. Grass resistance helps out Rotom-W, fairy helps scrafty (even though scizor already did that) etc. Flash Cannon and Shadow Ball have near-perfect coverage on the entire metagame, only missing out on things like Bisharp and Mega Gyarados. Aegislash still takes care of problematic fairies and psychic types like Sylveon, Cresselia and Mega Gardevoir while providing Wide Guard support to protect your team from Spread moves such as Hyper Voice, Heat Wave, and Earthquake. You also lose priority when switching to Aegislash, but the bulk, power, and typing makes it more than worth it over Scizor. Minimum speed is used to make sure it can take a hit in Shield forme before switching to Blade Forme to attack.

Hope I helped!
