XY Doubles Please rate my new team (doubles)

Hi
first of all let me just say, i am new to this site so i apologise for any errors. Anyway, could anybody please rate my team (a doubles team), which by the way is an ou metagame team, please and give any advice as to how to make it better or how to change it.

Team Building Process

I started with mega charizard y because it is an absolute beast as a special sweeper, OHKOing many things with its drought ability. Heat wave is a great move which can hit both my opponents pokemon and with drought has around 362 power against a 200 defense pokemon. Solar beam can hit without charging and against water pokemon and i have dragon pulse to defeat dragons.

Next, was garchomp. One of the best physical sweepers in the game with high speed and pairs well with mega charizard y since i will have on my team 1 special sweeper and 1 physical sweeper so that tanks or walls can't out stall me for long. Also, when they pair up at the beginning, garchomps phenomenal earthquake won't hit mega charizard y because charizard is immune and mega charizard y's heat wave won't do much damage to garchomp. Also, mega charizard y covers gar chomps ice weakness.

Heatran, is the next member of my team. He works amazingly with charizard y's drought ability meaning his fire moves get a great boost. Also he can use solar beam without charging against ground, water, etc. like garchomp and wash rotor, two very common pokemon. Also he is a great tank with good all round defense stat to hold in for quite long.

Then, we have aegislash. Aegislash is my physical sweeper/tank in my party. With very few weaknesses he is great to use swords dance on him when he is in shield mode, with great defensive stats, and then strike full out with shadow sneak OHKOing many pokemon.

[URL='http://www.smogon.com/forums/attachments/250px-212scizor-png.25831/']Ferrothorn is my main physical tank in this set, great defense, special defense and hp combined with gyro ball which normally hits with an astonishing 150 base power and power whip to obliterate opponents. Stealth rock is also there for set up purposes and leftovers just helps ferrothorn from fainting. Also grass moves help against any water types that might OHKO my charizard and heatran.

Our last pokemon is wash pokemon. A great special tank that can absorb special hits from popular pokemon choices like gardevoir and mega charizard y. Also has thunder wave to paralyse and then allow a sweeper to come in (from my team) and demolish that pokemon. Also since two of my pokemon are incredibly weak to fire, wash rotor protects them from any threats.

This is a really good first team! Before I go into rating the team, I would just like to say that this format is really difficult to follow. I recommend using the Showdown export format,

Pokemon @ Item
Ability:
EVs:
Nature
- Move 1
- Move 2
- Move 3
- Move 4

followed by a short description/justification of why you chose that Pokemon and what purpose it serves on the team.

Now, onto the team itself! First thing i noticed is that opposing Zard-Y absolutely destroy most of your team. Heat Wave OHKOes Aegislash and Ferrothorn, Solarbeam can take a huge chunk, or possibly OHKO Rotom-W, and variants with Hidden Power Ground can beat your Heatran. To remedy this, I think you should replace Rotom-W with Rotom-H and Aegislash with Hitmontop. Rotom-H resists fire, like Rotom-W, while also resisting Zard-Y's common coverage moves. Aegislash isn't really doing anything to help your team, since you have two steels already. Putting a Hitmontop in it's place would give your team Intimidate and Fake Out support, two things that are invaluable to a successful Doubles team. Furthermore, Hitmontop has access to Wide Guard, which can protect your team from spread moves like Earthquake, Rock Slide, and Heat Wave, all of which can seriously damage at least one thing on your team. For my last point I would like to say that, no offense intended, your EV spreads are kind of amateur-ish. If you want, you could check out Battling 101 and The Mentorship Program here on Smogon. You can find help for building teams and battling skills in general there.

Good luck battling!

Rotom-H @ Safety Goggles
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 140 Def / 84 SpA / 32 SpD
Bold Nature
- Overheat
- Thunderbolt
- Will-O-Wisp
- Protect

Hitmontop @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 136 Atk / 60 Def / 60 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Fake Out
- Close Combat
- Wide Guard
- Detect

Charizard @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Solar Power
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
-
Heat Wave
- Solarbeam
- Hidden Power [Ground]
- Protect

Heatran @ Shuca Berry
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 56 HP / 252 SpA / 200 Spe
Timid
Nature
- Heat Wave
- Flash Cannon
- Earth Power
- Protect

Ferrothorn @ Lum Berry
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 172 Atk / 84 Def
Brave Nature
- Gyro Ball
- Power Whip
- Leech Seed
- Protect

1. For starters, switching the current Rotom-W set to a bulkier one set of 252 HP / 40 Def / 84 SpA / 124 SpD / 8 Spe with a Calm Nature will help your team out a lot more. Easing your matchups versus Rain and Sand teams.

2. Change Aegislash to a Special set to avoid being crippled by Intimidate and Burns, as well as being able to use it to check MKang. Flash Cannon / Shadow Ball / Kings Shield / Wide Guard helps your team out quite a bit by saving Charizard and Garchomp from Hyper Voices and Rock Slides.

3. Protect > Magma Storm / Solar Beam on Heatran. And Protect > Stealth Rock on Ferrothorn. Much more useful in the context of double battles.

4. Will O Wisp > Thunder Wave on Rotom, as it can cripple physical attackers that otherwise beat Charizard. Slowing them down isn't as useful as passive damage + halved attack. I'd also suggest Protect > Light Screen but I'm also a fan of no Protect Rotom...

Hi! I hope you get into doubles as it really is much more fun than singles to play.
To start i would keep aegi physical as i love physical aegi, but use this set
Aegislash @ Leftovers
Ability: Stance Change
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Shadow Sneak
- King's Shield
- Sacred Sword
- Swords Dance

Shaian kinda took all my other suggestions and id recommend using what he said!

Hey, this is a cool team. I agree with basically everything everyone else has recommended except I really don't see a need for three steel-type Pokemon. Maybe, you could replace Ferrothorn with Assault Vest Scrafty. Like Spits mentioned, your team does not have Fake Out or Intimidate. Scrafty has both of those, as well as the significant mixed bulk that Ferrothorn has. It also serves as another check to Landorus-T and Mega Kangaskhan for your team, which are very prominent in Doubles, and pairs well with Aegislash since it resists its weaknesses to Ghost and Dark.

Scrafty @ Assault Vest
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 240 HP / 224 Atk / 44 Def
Impish Nature
- Fake Out
- Knock Off
- Drain Punch
- Ice Punch/Stone Edge

thanks everyone. i think i will replace ferrothorn with assault vest scruffy like Wagjass said and change rotor wash's ev's and moves.

Thanks

A good Rotom Spread that I always suggest is this one;

(Rotom-Wash) @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 36 Def / 96 SpA / 124 SpD
Calm Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Thunderbolt
- Will-O-Wisp
- Protect

It is built to live a double edge from mega kang and a solarbeam from Zard Y, and hit back with a burn or a Tbolt. You could also try this set on Aegi if you swap Ferro for Scrafty, I've used them together with great success.

(Aegislash) @ Leftovers
Ability: Stance Change
EVs: 236 HP / 252 SpA / 20 Spe
Modest Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Flash Cannon
- Substitute
- King's Shield

Playing it correctly can give you alot of free turns, attacking when they expect and shield and vise versa. Great Scrafty partner.
