Reserving Empoleon, nvm Kyube

Empoleon @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 244 SpD / 8 Spe
Calm Nature
- Scald
- Roar
- Toxic / Stealth Rock
- Defog / Stealth Rock

Utility Sableye definitely isn't fond of fire-types and fairies. Empoleon is not the most reliable check to them all, but it can function as a blanket check to them. Flash Cannon can be run over one of Empoleon's moves to hit fairies harder, but Roar can phaze some of them out - most notably Clefable. The 8 Def EVs allow for Empoleon to take a +2 Flare Blitz from Talonflame and OHKO back with a Torrent boosted Scald, while the 8 Spe EVs outspeed things speed creeping Clefable - and it by extension.

Talonflame @ Leftovers
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 248 HP / 244 SpDef / 16 Spe
Careful Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Roost
- Brave Bird
- Taunt / Bulk Up

Mega Sableye has problems with Fairy types, some Fire types and several strong wallbreakers. Specially Defensive Talonflame is a hard counter to Clefable and it can switch in on threats such as Charizard Y, Serperior, Volcarona and even Mega Altaria under most circumstances. Talon also provides faster Will-O-Wisps and can beat Chansey once Sableye has Knocked Off its Eviolite. Sableye checks numerous threats to Talonflame such as Rotom-Wash, Heatran, Hippowdon, Garchomp and Scarf Tyranitar, as well as helping keep Stealth Rocks off the field. Talonflame also provides a bit of offense with priority Brave Bird, allowing it to pick off weakened pokemon that threaten Mega Sableye such as Keldeo. Bulk Up is an option over Taunt to provide more offense but loses the ability to counter Clefable as easily and is more vulnerable to status although Sableye is a nice switch-in to that.

Mega Diancie in particular is a big threat to this duo, as well as monsters such as Manaphy, Azumarill and Nasty Plot Thundurus.

Manaphy @ Leftovers
Ability: Hydration
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Tail Glow
- Scald
- Ice Beam
- Energy Ball

Manaphy and Support M-Sableye are good partners for a few reasons. First off, M-Sableye handles a lot of the faster pokemon (Thundy, MegaMane, Gengar) that threaten Manaphy out, plus Eye completely walls Ferrothorn, which Mana appreciates. Second, Manaphy checks/sets up on several of the bulkier pokemon that Sableye can't touch, particularly Gliscor and MG Clefable and I guess Talonflame sorta. Third, they share some checks that they can wear down for one another, like Heatran and Unaware Clef. Finally, M-Sableye's utility moves (Will-O-Wisp and KO mostly) can provide opportunities for Manaphy to set up and blow through teams. ScarfTar comes to mind as a good KO/Will-O recipient. All in all, a good core that I've used a couple times.

Skarmory @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Iron Head
- Spikes
- Roost
- Whirlwind

SDef Skarm is a great partner for Mega Sableye. It is one of the few Gard checks to have reliable self recovery, and can also take on other Fairies like Diancie. Iron Head allows it to deal big damage to Fairies in return. Whirlwind + Sturdy can stop a rampaging setup sweeper in a pinch. Spikes is very useful as the best Sableye builds are of a Spike stacking cariety, as Sableye gives so much control over the hazards game.

Give me Tentacruel.

Tentacruel @ Black Sludge
Ability: Liquid Ooze
EVs: 224 HP / 252 Def / 32 Spe
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Rapid Spin
- Acid Spray
- Sludge Bomb / Knock Off

Mega Sableye especially hates fating Fairy types as they can either OHKO (Specs Sylveon) or set up on (Calm Mind Clefable) on the poor gem. Tentacruel makes an excellent partner, beating up on fairies with a slick combination of Acid Spray (Lowering the opponents Special Defense by two stages.), and then KO'ing them with a STAB Sludge Bomb.

Amoonguss (M) @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 60 Def / 200 SpD
Bold Nature
- Giga Drain
- Clear Smog
- Spore
- Hidden Power [Fire] / Foul Play

Ammongus is able to threaten most Fairy types with the horrifying Spore (EXEMPT: Diancie and Gardevior). Giga Drain lets it deal with Diancie and Clearsmog makes it so you can break Clefable. Hidden Power or Foul Play lets it get by some SD Steel Types

Reservig kyu-b

Kyurem-Black @ Life Orb
EVs: 56 Atk / 252 SpA / 200 Spe
Mild Nature
- Ice Beam
- Fusion Bolt
- Earth Power
- Roost

Although they share a fairy weakness, Kyu-B is a fantastic partner for utility Sableye that both appreciates Sableye's support and supports it back. Common things that are used to overwhelm Mega Sableye include Tail Glow Manaphy, Magma Storm Heatran, Landorus-I, Earth Plate Lando-t, Serperior, Offensive Starmie, SD Gliscor, Thunderus-I and Torn-T. Kyu-B checks/counters every single mon on that list, and is able to come in on them repeatedly thanks to Sableye keeping rocks off the field with magic bounce, and we all know how dangerous Kyu-B can be with a free switch in and rocks off the field.

In return, Sableye Hard counters Chansey, AV Conkeldurr and Ferrothorn, three of Kyu-B's best checks. It also checks [Mega] Scizor and mega metagross, two dangerous mons that can switch in on Kyu-B with ease. It also helps Kyu-B by weakening clefable by knocking off its leftovers, bringing it into range of being 2hko's by Kyu-B's ice beam. Sableye also hard counters nearly every fighting type in the meta, allowing Conk to switch out easier.
To top it off, Sableye can easily keep hazards off the field thanks to magic bounce, allowing Kyu-B to come in freely without having large chunks of its health chopped away.

So these two mons partner very well together despite the stacked fairys and mega lopunny weaknesses they bring, the combination is nearly too good not to run on Mega Sableye balance builds.

Cresselia (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 40 Def / 220 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psyshock
- Ice Beam
- Toxic
- Moonlight

Almost completely forgot about this

Cress hates stuff like Chansey or Gengar which MSableye can handle while Cress can beat stuff that doesn't care what Sableye does and just sets up in its face, especially stuff like Landorus, Keldeo or Thundurus. And Cress hates status moves, so Sableye also deters clicking WoW, Toxic or Twave with Magic Bounce.

Jirachi @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 148 SpD / 108 Spe
Careful Nature
- Substitute
- Toxic
- Iron Head
- Fire Punch

rachi's a cool partner to mega sableye, as it can take on fairies, and get residual damage off on stuff with toxic. in return, sableye handles a lot things that annoy rachi, such as hippowdon. cores really weak to landorus, so probably tag on, like, a spdef talon

Dragalge @ Draco Plate
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 228 HP / 252 SpA / 28 Spe
Modest Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Sludge Wave
- Focus Blast
- Toxic Spikes

Dragalge is a fantastic partner for mega Sableye as it beats all variants of Clefable, non Ice Beam Manaphy and also Sub+CM Keldeo for Mega Sableye who cannot beat them. Even Sableye's usual checks of Charizard X, Talonflame, Mega Gyarados and Gliscor cannot switch in safely as a Draco Plate boosted Draco Meteor would deal a lot of damage to them. Focus Blast is used to mainly smack Heatran that is one of the few pokemon that can status Mega Sableye with a Lava Plume. Furthermore, it can also set up Toxic Spikes that can help to wear down defensive threats that can annoy Sableye. Also, due to Dragalge's posion typing, it can remove Toxic Spikes for Mega Sableye as it does not like being statused

In return, Mega Sableye deals with Chansey and Blissey for Dragalge as those two cannot touch Mega Sableye. Mega Sableye's presence can also discourage players from setting up entry hazards which can benefit Dragalge as it gets worn down easily. Mega Sableye can also deal with specially defensive Steel-Types that Dragalge has trouble breaking such as Skarmory and Jirachi. Moreover, Mega Sableye also deals with Mega Metagross and Mega Gallade with ease as both of them can easily OHKO Dragalge with their respective STAB Psychic moves. Mega Sableye can also spinblock which prevents players from spinning away the Toxic Spikes that Dragalge has placed on the opposing field.

That mega sableye set is a great support mon with such a nice ability he had only one weekness which is a fairy so we gotta cover these weekness and put offensive pressure too, for me a great partner for these is the underrated threat Volcarona, Sableye prevents rocks for which is one of the volcarona downfalls. These two struggles a bit with heatran thats why im thinking and HP Ground set just to beat heatran 1 v 1

Volcarona @ Lum Berry / Leftovers / Passho Berry
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 40 HP / 252 SpA / 216 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 1 Atk / 30 SpA / 30 SpD
- Hidden Power [Ground]
- Fire Blast / Fiercy Dance
- Bug Buzz
- Quiver Dance

Enough speed to outspeed mon that hit 317

Talonflame @ Sharp Beak
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 208 HP / 252 Atk / 48 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Brave Bird
- Taunt
- Swords Dance
- Roost

Enough speed to taunt base 100 neutral and bulk to set up an SDs
Talonflame has already been done, I'm sorry. Even if it's a different set.

Klefki @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 76 SpA / 182 SpD
Calm Nature
- Spikes
- Thunder Wave
- Dazzling Gleam / Foul Play
- Flash Cannon / Foul Play

Klefki sets up Spikes to soften the opponent's team while Mega Sableye prevents them from being spun away due to being a Ghost-type. Klefki is a switch-in to the Fairy-types that Mega Eye hates while hitting them hard with Flash Cannon (in particular Mega Diancie which bounces back Spikes and murders Mega Sableye). 76 SpA with Dazzling Gleam also nets a 2HKO on Calm Mind Mega Sableye which cannot be touched otherwise (it can also break CM Keldeo's Sub at +1) . Thunder Wave is just a nice emergency button if you let a sweeper set-up. Foul Play can be used to hit Talonflame or Mega Charizard-X on the switch if you really don't like them.

I'll play along this week, since it's my favorite Mega Pokemon.

Excadrill @ Leftovers
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 224 HP / 252 SpD / 32 Spe
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rock / Toxic
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Rapid Spin

Want moar hazards (that aren't blocked by Magic Bounce)? Check. Want hazard removal to make Sable-switches easier? Check. Want Rapid Spin instead of Defog to keep your own hazards (including Bounced ones) intact? Check. WANT SOMETHING TO KILL FARIES AND HEATRAN??? Double freakin' check.

Excadrill does all of the above list for Sableye. It's like the already known Sable+Starmie core, but with a different, Fairy-killing twist. Excadrill can severely harm a lot of the common Faries Sableye will face, like Clefable, M-Garde, M-Alt, M-Diancie, Sylveon, and Klefki. With a Specially Defensive spread, Exacdrill can come in on nearly anything Garde and Clef throw out, while also forcing (non-Cotton Guard) M-Alt out with incoming Iron Heads if you get in safely. With Sableye's Wisps being thrown around everywhere as well, Excadrill's less-invested physical bulk is augmented as well, and his Fighting weakness is covered by our Ghost Gem. Obviously, Excadrill can murder any Heatran that gets in Sableye's way as well, making it a great addition to Sableye balance teams that miiiight also feature things like... I dunno... Talonflame and Serperior (coughtotallywhatI'musingcough).

This Excadrill is slightly different from that standard analysis where Speed Creeping isn't allowed, because it runs enough Speed to outrun 44 Spe Rotom-W (and by extension, max-Speed Azumarill and minimum Speed Lando-T) by a couple points to smack it with Mold Breaker Earthquakes. The HP hits a Leftovers number, and the rest of the points are dumped into SpD to patch it up and provide the most SpD bang for your EV bucks (since investing more into Excadrill's base 110 HP does less for it's SpD and maxing it's base 65 SpD).

I would post some offensive/defensive calcs, but I'm almost literally heading out the door for work right now, so don't have time.... Darn life getting in the way of Pokemon... >.<

Week 8 - All-Out Attacker Weavile

Weavile @ Life Orb
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Icicle Crash
- Knock Off
- Ice Shard
- Low Kick

Weavile resides in a fantastic Speed tier, outspeeding common threats such as Tornadus-T, Alakazam, and Starmie. This, combined with a solid Attack stat and access to priority in Ice Shard, makes Weavile a good revenge killer and late-game sweeper. Ice and Dark are also a great offensive combination. However, Weavile has a nasty weakness to Stealth Rock, low bulk, and a quadruple weakness to Fighting-types moves, meaning it does not find many switch-in opportunities. It is also checked by a few common Pokemon such as Azumarill and Keldeo.

Discuss!

Charizard @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast
- Solar Beam
- Focus Blast
- Roost

What is Char-Y checked by? Usually the Lati@s duo. Weavile is an easy double when Char-Y draws them out. Weavile puts in work against offense where Charizard's speed tier can fail it, and Charizard returns the favor by pressuring the fat mons that give Weavile trouble (think Ferro and Venusaur). Weavile is also capable of OHKOing some common Charizard checks, like 248 HP Mega Altaria.

Manectric-Mega @ Manectite
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Flamethrower

Mega Manectric and Weavile have some pretty damn good offensive synergy as they take care of a lot of each other's checks. Mega-Manectric has problems with stuff like Hippowdon, the Latis, and Scarf Lando-T, all of which are handled very well by Weavile. Weavile struggles against Azumarill, Keldeo, and fat steels like Scizor, Ferrothorn, and Skarmory. Mega-Manectric beats all of these mons between its decent movepool (i.e. good fire coverage) and Intimidate. Overall, the two are a really solid offensive core I've used many times before.

Starmie @ Life Orb
Ability: Analytic
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Psyshock
- Thunderbolt
- Rapid Spin

Starmie provides Rapid Spin support for Weavile while dealing heavy damage to Water-typess (such as Suicune, Azumarill, Keldeo, Mega Slowbro) with Thunderbolt. Psyshock is used to hit Fighting-types and Mega Venusaur harder so that Weavile can continue it's job. Analytic Hydro Pump provides Starmie the raw power to hit neutral targets and can hit Tyranitar, Scizor and Bisharp very hard, all Pokemon which can cause troubles to the core to a certain extent. Ice Beam is not needed since Weavile can take care of Celebi and Dragon-types. It also helps to weaken Tornadus-T and Raikou, which Starmie doesn't like at all.

reserving Heatran, because I don't wanna do talonflame 2 weeks in a row

Heatran @ Power Herb
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Magma Storm
- Flash Cannon
- Solarbeam
- Taunt

So the biggest threats to Weavile (of the most common mons) are pokemon like Keldeo, Azumarill, Mega Scizor and Clefable. Heatran beats Scizor provided Magma Storm lands, while Solarbeam lures in the bulky waters that can take on Weavile. Normally Earth Power is used on this set for other Heatrans but in this case I added Flash Cannon to take on Clefable better since Weavile can do a number on opposing Heatrans with Low Kick. Taunt remains the last option as it helps to stallbreak. Weavile takes out threats to Heatran like Landorus-T, Garchomp and Dragonite, as well as fast mons like Starmie. Weavile does a number on offense while Heatran's Magma Storm + Taunt allows it to do a number on bulkier builds.

Bisharp @ Life Orb
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Swords Dance
- Iron Head
- Sucker Punch

Bisharp is a great partner for weavile. They form a powerful dark spam + knock off core, and they share common checks such as mega scizor, keldeo, and skarmory. SD Bisharp can help weaken these a bit, allowing weavile to clean up, or vice versa with weavile removing their items and softening them up a bit for SD bisharp to sweep. One thing to note is that it stacks a lot of weaknesses. These two should be used on offensive teams (probably HO) which does not value defensive synergy as much, just make sure you have a good scarf keldeo answer.

Azumarill @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 252 Atk / 68 HP / 188 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Belly Drum
- Knock Off
- Aqua Jet
- Play Rough

BD Azu is easily my favorite sweeper atm. He is so strong after just 1 turn of setup and has amazing coverage+priority so it is very hard to wall and revenge kill. More importantly it can setup on the most common Weavile check: Keldeo. Then its able to bust open balance cores like nothing. The pair both weaken each others counters to the point where they can't check the core angmore. (Rotom, MVenu, Keld, Bulky Scizor, Ferro, etc) Once those mins are weak Weavile will be very hard to force out since it has such ballin STABs and it's hard to revenge kill since it can kill common scarfers like Ttar and Lando.

Weavile+Azu work best on heavy offense teams, especially ones with Manectric+Spikes. I have been using this core on a lot of my HO teams lately. MMan+Weavile+BD Azu puts in SOOOO much work against HippoFerroTorn teams it's not even funny. Just put something to take advantage of Clefable and you'll steamroll through those teams.

Speaking of clef, Unaware Clef can be a little annoying but Weavile can easily pressure it with hazard support. MVenu is also a pain in the ass if physically ddefensive. Talonflame helps with both of these

Electric potential

Magnezone @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Magnet Pull
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
IVs: 2 Atk / 30 SAtk / 30 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Flash Cannon
- Hidden Power [Fire]

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of Timid Scarf Magnezone; it's underwhelming in the power department and just barely outspeeds positive base 110s even with a +Spe nature. However, it's a fact that it's a really amazing offensive partner to AoA Weavile, and not just because it can trap Scizor and Skarmory. Like bludz said, Weavile's best checks, potential counters (that are near the top of the viability rankings and usage stats) are Keldeo, Azumarill, Scizor, and Clefable. Magnezone not only outspeeds every single one but also gets off impressive SE damage vs each of them (OHKOing 3/4 of them assuming offensive sets after SR):

252 SpA Magnezone Thunderbolt vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Keldeo: 320-380 (99 - 117.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
252 SpA Magnezone Thunderbolt vs. 92 HP / 0 SpD Azumarill: 356-420 (97.8 - 115.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
252 SpA Magnezone Flash Cannon vs. 252 HP / 96+ SpD Clefable: 236-278 (59.8 - 70.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Magnezone Hidden Power Fire vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Mega Scizor: 264-312 (93.9 - 111%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

In addition to being able to 2HKO/OHKO all 4 of Weavile's biggest offensive threats, Magnezone also has the added benefit of being able to trap Scizor and Skarmory which can switch into whatever AoA Weavile wants to throw out. Many teams in the current metagame struggle to handle Weavile, so the ability to trap its best defensive checks is invaluable. Weavile is also a great partner to Scarf Magnezone because it can take out the bulky grounds that prevent zone from freely Volt Switching, such as Landorus, Garchomp, Gliscor, and Hippowdon.
