Moves
========
- Recover is reliable recovery for more longevity.
- Drain Punch is STAB for more recovery, hitting most Pokemon that do not resist it
- Aqua Jet is priority STAB to hit faster Pokemon like Stratagem and Syclant
- Gunk Shot hits Fairy-types on the switch like Clefable
- Knock Off can be used to hit Lati@s and Necturna switch-ins
- Roar can be used to phaze setup sweepers like Revenankh and Manaphy and racks up hazard damage.
- Earthquake is an option to hit Mollux and Plasmanta switch-ins.
- Taunt can be used to stallbreak Pokemon like opposing Arghonaut as well as to check Calm Mind Naviathan.
Set Details
========
- 200 HP hits a Leftovers number, 88 Special Defense avoids a 2HKO from uninvested Clefable's Moonblast, and the rest goes into Attack to 2HKO Clefable and have a chance to 2HKO Pyroak with Gunk Shot after rocks
- Leftovers for passive recovery
- Unaware is Arghonaut's only ability and can help stop setup sweepers like Manaphy and Revenankh
- If using Earthquake, then an EV spread of 200 HP / 200 Atk / 88 SpD / 20 Spe is an option to outspeed uninvested Heatran and Mollux and OHKO or heavily damage them.
- 180 Speed EVs can be used to outspeed and Taunt Calm Mind Naviathan.
- If using Arghonaut on more defensive teams, then 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD with a Careful nature can be used, and it can be used if not running Gunk Shot.
Usage Tips
========
- Switch-in on anything that cannot do much damage; Syclant, Volkraken, Colossoil, and Revenankh are good switch-ins for Arghonaut
- If using Roar, use it to phaze out any setup sweeper
- Know when to use Drain Punch or Recover as your recovery, such as if you're facing a Chansey, using Drain Punch grants a lot of health recovered
- Try to find an opportunity to surprise the opponent when using a coverage move, such as when your opponent switches in a check expecting it to wall Arghonaut
Team Options
========
- This set fits on teams that need an answer to powerful special attackers like Syclant and Volkraken as well as setup sweepers like Revenankh
- Flying checks like Zapdos, Rotom-W, and Cyclohm, in return Arghonaut checks Ground-types
- Grass checks like Heatran and Skarmory aid Arghonaut and appreciate it dealing with Ground-types for Heatran and Fire-types for Skarmory
- Fairy checks like Mega Scizor, Mega Venusaur, Skarmory, Heatran, Mollux, Plasmanta, Pyroak, and Ferrothorn, Arghonaut checks Fire- and Ground-types for them.
- Pursuit trappers like Colossoil and Bisharp remove Psychic-types; Colossoil can also remove Electric-types.
- Clerics like Chansey, and Clefable heal Arghonaut of status and pass Wishes to it; both also handle Cyclohm well.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========
- Bulk Up increases Arghonaut's physical bulk and firepower, helping it against physical attackers and enabling it to break through bulky Pokemon with enough boosts
- Drain Punch is STAB for recovery, hitting most of the unresisted meta like Chansey and Colossoil
- Aqua Jet is STAB for priority to hit weakened Landorus-T and frail Pokemon like Stratagem and Syclant
- Gunk Shot hits Fairy-types trying to switch into Arghonaut like Clefable
- Earthquake can be used to hit Mollux and Plasmanta which resist Arghonaut's other moves, OHKOing both
- Knock Off is an option for neutral coverage, for hitting Lati@s and Necturna switch-ins, and for the ability to remove items
Set Details
========
- Max Attack with an Adamant nature because Arghonaut needs all the power it can get, while max HP increases its bulk to better tank hits.
- Leftovers for the recovery
- Unaware is Arghonaut's only ability and can help stop setup sweepers
Usage Tips
========
- This set is meant to be used to sweep late-game once all checks and counters are removed
- Don't get greedy with Bulk Up; know when you have enough boosts or if you need to recover with Drain Punch, such as when your opponent's Pokemon can KO Arghonaut in its current state.
- Most of the time, you want to spam Drain Punch when boosted to recover HP
- Use Aqua Jet to handle any faster threats like Stratagem and Syclant
- Only use Earthquake when taking out Electric-type or Mollux or Plasmanta switch-ins is necessary.
Team Options
========
- This set is meant to be built around and used as a wincon on balance
- Clerics like Chansey and Clefable cure Arghonaut of status and recover its HP with Wish, allowing it to have a second chance of sweeping.
- Users of U-turn and Volt Switch can allow Arghonaut to safely get in; Landorus-T, Colossoil, Mega Scizor, and Rotom-W are some examples. Mega Scizor also removes Fairy-types, Colossoil takes care of Electric-types and can Pursuit trap Psychic-types, Rotom-W can deal with Flying-types
- Cyclohm can deal with Flying-types, can cure Arghonaut of status with Heal Bell, and appreciates Arghonaut's ability to check Ground-types
- Wallbreakers like Mega Gardevoir and Kyurem-B can punch holes in the opponent's team to make way for Arghonaut to sweep, and can especially help take down Haze Tomohawk
- Mega Crucibelle is a notable wallbreaker as it can handle Fairy-types, Talonflame, and Mollux, and can heavily dent Plasmanta or KO it after a Coil boost.
[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
- Assault Vest is an option due to Arghonaut's natural bulk, Drain Punch, and a usable Attack.
- Stone Edge hits base Gyarados, Zapdos, and Tornadus-T
- Yawn to force switches
- A set with Substitute and Bulk Up with 216 HP / 112 Def / 180 Spe can be used to allow Arghonaut to set up on Calm Mind Naviathan and protect Arghonaut from Scald burns
Checks & Counters
===================
**Burns**: Burning Arghonaut shuts it down through residual damage and attack drops; Rotom-W is a common carrier of Will-O-Wisp and can use Volt Switch to gain momentum, while Pyroak can burn it with Lava Plume. Arghonaut also loses the ability to check Kitsunoh, Mega Charizard X, Heatran and Mollux if they carry Will-O-Wisp or if a Lava Plume burns. Volcanion not only can burn Arghonaut with Steam Eruption or Scald, but it can also switch into a Water STAB due to Water Absorb.
**Physically Defensive Pokemon**: Pokemon like Tomohawk, Mega Venusaur, Amoonguss, Tangrowth, Skarmory, and Cyclohm can wall Arghonaut and retaliate with their STAB attacks. Tomohawk can also Haze its boosts away, Mega Venusaur can threaten a Giga Drain, and Skarmory and Cyclohm can phaze it with Whirlwind. Slowbro in both base and Mega form can set up on Arghonaut, burn it with Scald, dent it with Psyshock, or flat out wall it due to taking next to nothing from its attacks.
**Fairy-types**: Fairy-types like Clefable, Sylveon, Kerfluffle, Mega Altaria, and Mega Gardevoir can switch in and threaten any Arghonaut lacking Gunk Shot with their STAB attacks.
**Powerful Attackers**: Talonflame, Plasmanta, Dragalge, Mega Metagross, Mega Gallade, Mega Charizard Y, Necturna, Staraptor, and Thundurus can easily OHKO or 2HKO Arghonaut.
**Toxic**: Toxic forces Arghonaut on a timer, which can allow Pokemon that it normally handles like Landorus-T and Chansey to wear it down on the switch.
