So I've been doing well with this poison mono I've made and now I want to rate it to see how I can improve it.
Team consists of:
Gengar (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Thunderbolt
- Giga Drain
- Hypnosis
Gengar is a speedy pokemon for this team. He has shadow ball for any Psychic types as well as Hypnosis for some status effect on pokemon like Gardevoir who can easily take him down. Thunderbolt is basically there for coverage. It hits pretty hard and is super effective on any opposing water types like Gyarados, who could wreck my team if not handled quickly. Giga Drain is for health recovery and for coverage. With the Life Orb, Gengars role on this team is just to hit hard and provide minor status effects.
Drapion (M) @ Air Balloon
Ability: Sniper
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Swords Dance
- Knock Off
- Poison Jab
Drapion is one of the most necessary pokemon for this team. It provides the role as a bulky attacker, ready to take down any psychic or ghost type in the way, as well as opposing poison monos. Knock is for just about every Psychic and Ghost type out there, as well as enabling me to take down eviolite pokemon like Porygon2 and Chansey. Earthquake is there to take down steel types like Metagross, who could potentially take down this team single handily. Poison Jab is for stab coverage, as well as minor status ailment, and because of its high crit ratio. Combined with Sniper and Swords Dance, it packs a punch. Air balloon makes it so Drapion can't be taken down in one E-quake. To conclude, Drapions main role is to be the Psychic/Ghost killer on this team, as well as someone to set up and potentially sweep.
Crobat (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Brave Bird
- U-turn
- Cross Poison
- Zen Headbutt
Crobat is my lead pokemon. He is Choice Banded to increase his power. Depending on the match he can provide a number of roles. His main purpose is to scout out the opponents first pokemon and help me decide on what to do. I can either decide to just go for a STAB Brave Bird and do some damage, and basically sac Crobat. U-Turn is just to do some damage and get switch Crobat out if I find I can use him later or to do damage to opposing Psychic/Grass types. Cross Poison and Zen Headbutt are there for coverage. Zen Headbutt has a chance of flinching, which is always nice, and take down threats like Terrakion who are neutral to Brave Bird. Cross Poison is STAB and has a minor chance of poisoning. In conclusion Crobat is my lead, Death Fodder, or a late game sweeper/Revenge Killer.
Weezing (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
- Haze
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split
- Flamethrower
Weezing is my Defensive tank ready to take on anyone trying to sweep. Haze is there to stop any sweepers in there path. Will-O-Wisp is there for burn damage and as well as to nullify any physical attackers on the opposing team like Dragonite or Salamence. Pain Split is to recover any health when I need it and Flamethrower is basically there to deal with Ferrothorn. I chose weezing basically because it was one of the tankiest pokemon I know for poison, plus it has levitate which means E-Quake won't destroy it at all. So in conclusion, Weezings main role is to be a defensive tank, stop sweepers, and wreck any physical pokemon in his way.
Tentacruel (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Liquid Ooze
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Acid Spray
- Scald
- Confuse Ray
- Rapid Spin
Tentacruel is the Special Defensive tank of this team. Its Water/Poison typing is nice as it, along with Liquid Ooze, stop any Special Attacking Grass types. Acid Spray is there to do minor damage, but get massive Special Defense drops either causing a switch, or letting Gengar or Mega Venusaur easily revenge kill. Scald is for STAB and in case of fire types like Charizard. Scalds chance to burn, is really nice in case Weezing goes down and Tentacruel is my only wall left, so that way no Physical attackers have a chance. Confuse Ray is for status ailment and to help take down potential sweepers. If someone has 3 Sword Dances up, a Confuse Ray helps me stall until I can either switch and Kill it, or do Damage. Rapid Spin is to take care of Stealth Rocks and Spikes. Simply enough Tentacruel is here to take any Special hit, provide Support, and Get rid of Hazards.
Venusaur (M) @ Venusaurite
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
- Giga Drain
- Hidden Power [Ground]
- Sludge Bomb
- Synthesis
Mega Venusaur is a Monster on this team. Giga Drain is STAB, plus it helps recover health in case of crits. Hidden Power Ground, is to deal with Heatran who, with its Fire/Ground Typing and Sp Def Bulky, can wreck me if Drapion goes down. Sludge Bomb is another Powerful move thats STAB and can help take things down like Mega Gardevoir or other Fairy Types. Synthesis is there incase Mega Venusaur is facing someone, like Dragonite or Salamence, that Giga Drain is not effective against. Synthesis recovers health quickly so Venusaur stays alive. In Conclusion Mega Venusaur is Pure Power on this team and is there to Take hits and take down anyone who could wall my team.
So that was the entire team. Give me a rate on any improvements I can make or who I could replace.
