You may now begin nominating the next teammate.

In the last stage, everyone was talking about Rhyperior countering Vivillon, but what about having them on the same team?

469.png

Rhyperior @ Assault Vest
Ability: Solid Rock
EV's: 252 HP / 192 Atk / 60 SpDef
Adamant Nature
- Stone Edge
- Fire Punch
- Ice Punch
- Earthquake

Now that we've chosen two Specially based Pokemon on our team, it seems a good idea to make our next member a Pokemon that has good Physical bulk and power. Rhyperior fits this category well, as it has 115 / 130 Physical defenses, and an awesome base 140 Attack. Rhyperior's typing also fits in well, resisting Rock, Fire, Flying and Electric, and getting STAB on the EdgeQuake combo. For these reasons, it is a solid counter to many Pokemon that Vivillon hates, such as Emboar and Escavalier.

As for the given set, an Assault Vest is used to prevent Rhyperior being a sitting duck for mixed attackers, providing they don't have Water or Grass coverage. It also allows it to take weaker special hits, as Solid Rock tones down the effectiveness of super effective hits.

The EV's are there to provide bulk on both sides of the spectrum, whilst not sacrificing any attack power. However, they are experimental, so if anyone else has any other suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

The moves are pretty self explanatory, you get STAB EdgeQuake, and the punches are there for coverage, although if we use a hazard setter, Dragon Tail might be a better choice than Ice Punch.

Overall, Rhyperior seems like a good choice for the next Pokemon in this team, as it has great synergy with both Vivillon and Xatu, whilst also providing some much-needed Physical presence.

Not gonna nom a 'mon, at least atm, but I figured that I should mention this now, because as it stands, the team could really do for a significant deterrent of Rock-type attacks. While there have been jokes made about the compiling Stealth Rock weakness Xatu causes, the team does look to struggle with SpDef Rhyperior, and, by extension, Stealth Rock. As our means of hazard prevention and initial Rhyperior lure is largely reactionary, requiring an immediate switch-in to prevent hazards, it can (at this stage of team-building) very easily just hit Xatu with Rock Blast on the switch, KO it, and proceed to set up SR on its second opportunity, presumably taking limited damage in the process. For this reason, it would be useful to provide a partner Pokemon or two capable of significantly capitalizing on a Rhyperior attempting to make such a play, so as to at the very least force a 50-50 situation instead of conceding an inherent weakness to a rather common Pokemon. Strong Fighting-types, perhaps offensive Gastrodon, and whatnot seem like decent enough examples for this, though I couldn't really identify any singular "best" option for this.

same as the other round.(kabutops)
Set:Kabutops@Life orb
EVs:252 atk 252 spd 4 hp
-Rock Slide
-Waterfall
-Rapid Spin
-Stealth Rock
In many senses of the word, Kabutops is at the pinnacle of RU. In a tier chock-full of hazard users, Rapid Spin users are coveted, and Kabutops is the best offensive user of the move available.Kabutops has good type synergy with Vivillon, and also helps with Stealth Rock by removing it with Rapid Spin in case Xatu is dead.

The moves on Kabutops are quite obvious,Waterfall is the most reliable STAB and also hits quite hard, possibly OHKOing Rhyperior and doing damage to many threats in the tier.Rock Slide is here to cover whatever resists Waterfall, and also to take out Xatu leads that prevent Kabutops from using Stealth Rock, which is used to weaken the opposing team(because Vivillon doesn't get a lot of OHKOS).Finally,Rapid Spin provides support to Vivillon,as Vivillon hates rocks.

The EVs are there to ensure Kabutops spins/gets up rocks as fast as possible, and the attack EVS also make sure Kabutops is able to get a few kills before dying.

Sure,if we use Kabutops the team will be weak to Electric, but we could just use a ground type such as rhyperior.Overall,Kabutops is one of the best Rapid Spinners in RU and overall an amazing
Pokemon.

Renoninating mah cobalion
cobalion.gif

Cobalion @ Lum Berry
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge
- Magnet Rise

Magnet Rise Cobalion is an amazing partner for Vivillion. It takes Rock type attacke like a champ and can easily set up on most pokemons able to stop our butterfly's sweep like Rhyperior and Escavalier and then run through the opponent's team. It appreciates Vivillion's wallbreaking power as it has difficult getting past pokemons Vivillon slices through like Amoonguss and Alomomola.

With xatu the team has shifted solidly into overload offense...and also into an odd kind of fighting weakness. With both SD cobalion and SD virizion running around alongside various stone edge carrying fighters its clear to me that the team really needs a not flying fighting switchin. On that note I give you...

doublade.png

Doublade @ Eviolite
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 252 Atk / 200 HP / 44 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Sacred Sword
- Shadow Claw
- Shadow Sneak
- Swords Dance

With an eviloite Duoblade has absolutely fantastic physical bulk and provides a key rock and ice resist for the team alongside a nifty fighting immunity while xatu has a field day on Doublades few good switchins. But most importantly Duoblade offers yet another way to lure kill or simply wear down bulky rocks and steels such as rhyperior with SD and its creeptastic 44 speed investment and grants the team both bulk and a useable priority move. Finally Doublade allows the team to combat the ever present ever deadly cresselia, and mega abomasnow while picking off weakened OTR reuniclus before it can completely decimate the team.

Not been around for a while, but I'm seriously pumped for XY. This in mind, I'mma bring in my favourite...

Eelektross @ Leftovers
Levitate (obviously...)
Impish Nature
252 HP / 248 Defence / 8 Speed
*Coil
*Wild Charge
*Drain Punch
*Aqua Tail

Eelektross is, like Vivillon, often overlooked when constructing a team, despite a wealth of positives. The most obvious one is the same as it had in BW2 RU: a movepool the size of the Atlantic. Of note in this regard is Coil, an absolutely fantastic boosting move that boosts your Attack, Defence, and Accuracy. Since it's literally impossible to get super-effective damage on this thing (well, not impossible, but who the hell runs Smack Down?), you can switch into a 252+ Rhyperior Stone Edge with relative impunity, set up with Coil - incidentally, that's why the Speed EVs are there, it allows it to outspeed Rhyperior unboosted - and pound on it with Aqua Tail, healing off damage with Drain Punch if it's absolutely necessary. Wild Charge is there for STAB and also for dealing a surprising amount of damage to Escavalier without triggering our friendly neighbourhood battle snail's Assault Vest.

Now, there are some problems. Eelektross might be able to outspeed Escavalier and Rhyperior, but so can continental drift; all you need is for something fast to switch in and inflict a burn and the set's pretty much dead in the water. It's also quite vulnerable to phazing, so Druddigon can be a bit of a problem. However, if we're looking for something to support Vivillon, I'd say this is it.

So, what do you think? =]

Ok but seriously this is a great set and needs more use

Accelgor @ Leftovers
Ability: Sticky Hold
EVs: 252 Spd / 248 HP / 8 Atk
Jolly Nature
- Spikes
- Encore
- Substitute
- U-turn

This guy sets up hazards very easily and has a good matchup against most other leads. Encore+U-turn can even work as an excellent momentum grabber early to mid game. It does add another SR weakness to the team but Accelgor is usually used as a lead anyway.

I'mma go ahead and offer my fav:

469.png

Rhyperior (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spd
Impish Nature
- Rock Blast
- Roar
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake

I honestly have no clue as to why phsdef rhyperior doesn't get more use. It is my go-to rhyperior set because it can handle almost every single physical attacker bar like virizion.

252+ Atk Life Orb Sharpedo Waterfall vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Solid Rock Rhyperior: 320-378 (73.7 - 87%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Cobalion Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Solid Rock Rhyperior: 139-163 (32 - 37.5%) -- 0.1% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

252 Atk Virizion Leaf Blade vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Solid Rock Rhyperior: 207-246 (47.6 - 56.6%) -- 32.8% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Druddigon Outrage vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Rhyperior: 123-145 (28.3 - 33.4%) -- 94% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Emboar Superpower vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Solid Rock Rhyperior: 171-202 (39.4 - 46.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

It most certainly takes care of the rock trouble on our team, and offers hazards on our end to aide vivillion in sweeping. Rhyperior serves as a blanket wall that can check/counter nearly all physical threats (and the others are patched up simply through common resistances. Virizion, for example, is not as much of a problem when vivillion is hurricaning away). This allows for more flexibility later on, as there will be many less threats to handle.

OK so I went to Marriland's teambuilder and looked at how the two Pokemon we have pair together.

We have:
2 weaknesses to Rock, Electric, and Ice
1 weakness to Flying, Ghost, Fire, and Dark
• 2 neutralities to Normal, Poison, Steel, Water, Dragon, and Fairy
1 resistance to Psychic and Bug
2 resistances to Fighting and Grass
2 immunities to Ground

We really need a Pokemon that resists Rock, Electric, and Ice, is not weak to Flying, Ghost, Fire, or Dark, and provides good synergy with the core. <<< VERY HARD TO GET ALL IN 1 MON

posting lo steelix nom later

Kabutops resists all of them exept electric, but i think we can throw a ground type in.

Rhyperior resists Rock, Flying and Fire, is immune to Electric, and is weak to Fighting, Grass and Ground. What's more, it has good synergy with Xatu and Vivillon, being a primarily Physical attacker with good base Defense. There have already been 2 submissions for Rhyperior this round, one as a Bulky attacker, and the either as a Physical Wall. Either of them would complement this core well.

Rhyperior is weak to ice.
