ORAS OU SandZam Team

I've posted a version of this team before, and would like to post the newer version now. I've had great success with this partixular team, and would like to get an idea from you guys what you might improve!

Tyrone (Tyranitar) @ Chople Berry
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 248 HP / 80 Def / 180 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Stone Edge
- Pursuit
- Ice Beam
My rocker and sand setter. It scares out Lati's and catches them with pursuit, and gets a second shot at fighting types with Chople berry. One of my most important changes from the original team.

Hot Fire (Amoonguss) @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 136 Def / 120 SpD
Calm Nature
- Spore
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Hidden Power [Fire]

Defensive Amoonguss is again a huge change to the team, as spore allows recovery and a chance at set-up with other mons.

ExcaDrop (Excadrill) @ Life Orb
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide
- Rapid Spin

Life orb Excadrill punches holes in so many mons. Inside of sand, it is a threat to be reckoned with even with resisted hits.

AlakaDayuum (Alakazam) @ Alakazite
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Psychic
- Focus Blast
- Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power [Ice]

My anti-hazard HP ICE lead has many a Landorus/Garchomp kill under its belt. I use this to lock down a late game sweep once most of the opposing team is weakened.

TalonFlamez (Talonflame)
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpD / 8 Spe
Careful Nature
- Acrobatics
- Roost
- Bulk Up
- U-turn

This defensive Talonflame provides a solid ground resist and another way to punch holes in teams to allow for a MegaZam/Excadrill sweep. Can also be used as a last ditch sweeper as long as rocks are off the field.

FlowTom (Rotom-Wash) @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 Spe
Bold Nature
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split

Rotom is always a solid lead should Lando/Chomp not be around. Will-o allows me to shut down physical/bulky threats, while volt-switch allows me to maintain momentum on switches after the fact.

Hey Terethien, nice looking team we have there. I remember having a similar team with Alakazam plus Sand Offense combo builded around it which worked really well in early ORAS, so I'm writing this rate in order to let you know what I think it would work better in this type of team(s).

At a first glance I think that there are some moveset that might be changed to make the team work better. First of all, speaking about the mega of this team, which, in this case, is Alakazam, I think that Hidden Power Ice isn't useful since the mons that are the targets of this move such as Landorus, Garchomp or Gliscor are already checked by other mons of the team, Rotom and Amoonguss. I think that options like Encore or Calm Mind would work better, so I think that you really should try them over HP Ice.

Tyranitar and Excadrill are a really good duo since they provide both hazard & spinning support and another solid sweeping combo. There might two small little changes with TTar's set which are just an optional. You can run Smooth Rock over Chople Berry because those extra sand turns can be the difference between Excadrill winning, or your opponent stalling out sand turns. Another change might be Crunch over Ice Beam. I don't recommend much this one since you run a Rotom (and an Encore Alakazam as I suggested), but a Calm Mind Slowbro can be a huge threat if it has free turns for setting up, so you can run Crunch in order to not be an easy set-up fodder for it. Otherwise you can always have Ice Beam as last move since it's always nice for hitting Ground and Grass types. You can also change Rock Slide on your Exca with Swords Dance, as mons like Talonflame, Rotom or Pinsir, all of which are already checked by Rotom.

Amoonguss is a really great partner of Alakazam and Sand Offense, since, thanks to his fantastic ability and great bulk, it can easily check threats like Keldeo or Azumarill, all of which, were a bit problematic to check. What I've noticed in your build, was the problem with the EVs spread since you gave a lot of Sp.Def which in this case is not that useful. What I'm suggesting you to change is your EVs spread: I've thought that 248 HP / 108 Def. / 144 Sp.Def / 8 Spe. with a Bold nature over Calm, was the best combination. 144 EVs in Special Defense with a Bold Nature can be used to avoid the 2HKO from Life Orb Thundurus's Hidden Power Ice with Stealth Rocks up on your field. (Thundurus was pretty scary, this spreads can help you to check it and put it to sleep with Spore. Last change on this Mon is Clear Smog over Sludge Bomb: with this change, you can easily shut down setup mons like Lopunny or Azumarill. That 8 EVs in Speed are there for outspeeding Slowbro and Clear Smog it before the eventual Calm Mind.

This is my last change for this team. I think that Life Orb Tornadus perfectly fits in this type of team(s), I think that LO + Heat Wave and Hidden Power Ice is perfect for KOing some Drill and Alakazam's checks such as Landorus, Ferrothorns or Skarmories with this nice move combo. It also hits very hard mons like Rotom and Heatran with Superpower so that is really nice for us. This set lacks of U-Turn which it might be really nice for getting some safe switch ins for Alakazam or Excadrill which might be crucial in a game so if you want you can run it by yourself. I would personally still run this combination of moves since it's always nice luring mons for having an easier sweep with Excadrill or Alakazam.
For this rate I think that this is all! These were the changes in short:

248.png

530.png
