[OVERVIEW]

Contrary is an amazing ability, turning the detrimental effect of Leaf Storm into a pseudo-Nasty Plot boost. It also can come in handy at deterring the likes of Defog and Sticky Web by giving Servine a +1 boost in evasion and Speed, respectively. With access to Contrary and STAB Leaf Storm, Servine can get a free Nasty Plot boost while simultaneously hitting the foe. It also has access to a plethora of support moves such as Knock Off, Glare, and Taunt, which further increase Servine's utility. However, Servine has limited attacking options outside of its Grass-type STAB moves, relying on Hidden Power for coverage. Servine is also too slow to be used on offensive teams without a Choice Scarf, as its base 83 Speed leaves it outsped by a lot of common Pokemon on offense such as Archeops, Jynx, and Tauros. Servine is also too frail to be on bulky teams even with Eviolite, as its typing hinders its otherwise decent bulk, being weak to Poison, Fire, and Flying. While Servine has a very spammable STAB type, it is still walled by Poison-, Steel-, Fire-, Flying-, and opposing Grass-types and must rely on its utility to power through.

Leaf Storm allows Servine to easily snowball slow teams, as thanks to Contrary, Leaf Storm gives it a free +2 boost to its Special Attack, allowing Servine to boost while it attacks. Giga Drain provides Servine with a more reliable STAB move that is also a form of recovery. Hidden Power Fire allows Servine to hit opposing Grass-types such as Ferroseed and Lilligant, while Hidden Power Ground hits Steel- and Fire-types such as Klinklang and Magmortar as well as Skuntank. Glare allows Servine to cripple faster switch-ins such as Scyther and Pyroar, preventing them from stopping a sweep late-game. Substitute can allow Servine to avoid status moves and set up on faster Pokemon such as Tauros and Archeops. Taunt can be used instead as a way for Servine to break stall and be able to completely destroy slow Pokemon such as Lanturn, Quagsire, and Gourgeist-S. Hidden Power Rock can retain coverage on Flying-types while hitting Scyther harder, but it loses out on coverage for opposing Grass-types. Hidden Power Ice loses out on Ferroseed but allows Servine to hit Flying-types such as Xatu and Rotom-S.

Set Details
========

Maximum Special Attack and Speed EVs are used to allow Servine to hit as hard and as fast as possible. A Timid nature is used to outspeed positive-natured Mesprit, Jolly Kabutops, Adamant Sawk, Adamant Kangaskhan, Adamant Zangoose, neutral-natured Magmortar, and Adamant Pinsir, all of which hit Servine very hard with their STAB moves. Eviolite allows Servine to tank weak hits while it sets up and gives it better overall bulk. Contrary allows Servine to boost up while attacking and overpower the opposing team if it lacks a switch-in to Grass-types, although most Pokemon that resist Grass do not like a +2 Leaf Storm.

Usage Tips
========

Servine can snowball slow threats such as Mega Audino, as it has a decent Speed tier and is able to attack and boost at the same time. Servine must be careful of very fast Pokemon, such as Tauros and Archeops, as most of them can beat it one-on-one thanks to its only decent base 83 Speed stat. However, if Servine hits them with Glare on the switch, Servine can outspeed them and proceed to snowball the opposing team. Pokemon that can survive a Leaf Storm and retaliate with a status move, such as Mega Audino and Weezing, must be weakened before Servine can set up, as Servine has a limited number of Leaf Storm uses and doesn't run super effective coverage for such foes. Try to bring in Servine safely, as it has a lot of common weaknesses and doesn't like taking repeated hits even with Eviolite. This can be done by forcing double switches or bringing it in via a slow Volt Switch or U-turn. Servine can use its handy resistances to Water, Electric, and Grass to set up easily.

Team Options
========

Thunder Wave support is really nice, as Servine can then outspeed and beat a lot of Pokemon that can threaten it, such as Archeops. Xatu and Lanturn are ideal partners, as Xatu's amazing ability to pivot with U-turn means that Servine can get in safely. Lanturn, on the other hand, can provide Heal Bell support while still providing momentum via Volt Switch. Sticky Web support from Pokemon such as Leavanny and Kricketune also allows Servine to outspeed a lot of prominent threats. Even if Sticky Web happens to end up on your side of the field due to foes with Magic Bounce or opposing Sticky Web users, Servine can benefit thanks to Contrary giving it a +1 Speed boost. It also deters Defog to an extent, as a +1 evasion boost is nice. Entry hazard support from Pokemon such as Garbodor and Rhydon allows Servine to pressure the opposing team efficiently, as Servine can force a lot of switches. Garbodor and Rhydon also have decent defensive and offensive synergy with Servine, with Garbodor being able to take Poison- and Bug-type moves for Servine while Servine pressures Ground-types. Rhydon can beat up on Steel-types such as Pawniard and Mawile as well as most Fire-types, such as Pyroar and Magmortar, while Servine can beat most Water-types for Rhydon. Heal Bell support from clerics such as Lanturn is appreciated, as Servine is really susceptible to status ailments, which will otherwise cripple it for the rest of the match. Lanturn also checks Flying-types, which resist Servine's STAB moves, can outspeed it, and threaten it with a super effective STAB move.

Moves
========

Leaf Storm allows Servine to easily snowball teams, as thanks to Contrary, Leaf Storm gives Servine a free +2 boost to its Special Attack, powering it up while it attacks the foe. Glare allows Servine to cripple a Pokemon before it either faints or is forced out, allowing teammates to take advantage of the foe's paralysis. Knock Off allows Servine to get rid of foes' items, such as Magmortar's Assault Vest and Tangela's Eviolite, whittling them down to potentially allow a sweep later. Hidden Power Rock allows Servine to hit Scyther hard while retaining coverage on other Flying-types such as Xatu and Swellow as well as Fire-types such as Magmortar and Pyroar.

Set Details
========

Choice Scarf allows Servine to revenge kill a lot of faster threats such as Archeops while also getting easy boosts from Leaf Storm. Maximum Special Attack and Speed EVs allow Servine to outspeed as many foes as possible and hit everything hard. A Timid nature allows Servine to get the jump on positive-natured base 80 Speed Pokemon that commonly run Choice Scarf such as Mesprit. Modest can be used instead, however, as Servine outspeeds every unboosted Pokemon and can hit harder with Leaf Storm. Contrary allows Servine to boost up while attacking and overpower the opposing team if it lacks a switch-in to Grass-types, although most Pokemon that resist Grass are OHKOed after some prior damage.

Usage Tips
========

Pokemon that can survive a Leaf Storm and retaliate with a status move, such as Mega Audino, must be weakened before Servine can set up, as Servine has a limited number of Leaf Storm uses and doesn't run super effective coverage for such foes. Be aware of how much Servine does to switch-ins. A Pokemon switching in has to take a neutral Leaf Storm followed by a +2 Leaf Storm and be able to cripple or OHKO back. Servine is best used as a cleaner, so try to preserve it until the late-game, where it can do the most damage. Try to bring in Servine safely via a slow Volt Switch or U-turn, as it is very frail and has a lot of common weaknesses. Servine can also come in on passive Pokemon that can't do anything back to it, such as Mega Audino.

Team Options
========

Pokemon such as Life Orb Pyroar can wallbreak very easily, allowing Servine to spam Leaf Storm more freely and acquire boosts more easily. Pyroar can destroy Grass- and Steel-types while also providing Will-O-Wisp support. Entry hazard support is necessary, as this Servine set can force the foe out a lot more easily once the set is revealed, wearing down the opponent's team. Pokemon such as Garbodor and Rhydon have a lot of staying power, allowing them to set up those entry hazards repeatedly. Stealth Rock also cripples many Flying-types, such as Scyther and Xatu, that may force Servine out. Heal Bell support from the likes of Lanturn is appreciated, as Servine is really susceptible to status ailments, which will otherwise cripple it for the rest of the match. Lanturn can also beat up on Flying-types as well, allowing Servine to have an immensely easier time setting up and sweeping. Slow Volt Switch or U-turn users such as Lanturn and Xatu can bring in Servine safely while also providing Heal Bell support in Lanturn's case and entry hazard control in Xatu's case.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Substitute + Leech Seed can be a good alternative, as it provides Servine with a semi-reliable means of recovery while also forcing switches, racking up entry hazard damage as well as wearing down the opponent's team overall. Sadly, this leaves Servine walled by Grass-types, as they are immune to Leech Seed and resist Servine's Grass-type STAB moves. Synthesis provides reliable recovery; however, Synthesis's effect gets crippled in any weather besides sun, only allowing Servine to regain 1/4 of its HP instead of 1/2. Moreover, Servine already has a way to reliably recover, being able to restore a good portion of its HP with Giga Drain after a couple of boosts. Aromatherapy can be nice to get rid of any status ailments Servine and its teammates happen to acquire. However, Servine is better off spamming Leaf Storm to gain boosts or Glare to cripple faster checks such as Archeops, Jynx, and Scyther.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Poison-types**: Skuntank, Vileplume, Roselia, and Garbodor resist Servine's Grass-type STAB moves and threaten it offensively with their Poison-type STAB moves. However, all Poison-types are slower than Servine, which means that they must watch out for a +2 super effective Hidden Power.

**Faster Pokemon That Resist Grass**: Pyroar and Scyther outspeed Servine and can cripple or OHKO it, leaving any boosts Servine has accumulated useless. Both, however, do not like being crippled by Glare. Rotom-S is also very annoying, as it not only resists Servine's STAB moves but is also immune to paralysis due to its Electric typing.

**Pokemon with Sap Sipper**: Miltank and Bouffalant are immune to Servine's STAB moves and can proceed to set up on or cripple it.

**Specially Bulky Pokemon**: Assault Vest Magmortar and specially defensive Mega Audino can either hit Servine super effectively or stall out Leaf Storm, rendering Servine's ability to boost useless.

Really don't see any use in all that coverage on Scarf, Leaf Storm's like the only offensive move you ever use. The set should be something like Leaf Storm / Glare / Knock Off / something. Also Modest should at least be slashed, Timid hardly gets anything extra outside of +Spe Scarf Mesprit

two big points on the eviolite set: sub should be considered over glare to dodge status. if youre worrying about those listed threats, bulk investment should be considered as well. anything that's a threat to Servine would still beat it with those speed evs; furthermore, threats it benefits going ahead of are also naturally outsped without any investment. HP EVs seems like a much safer bet + modest nature. I would say that if youre running HP Rock and want to try to get some damage on, say, Magmortar (the only example i can think of where speed would matter), 160 Timid would be the fastest you would ever want to be. I feel like the evs should be at least remade to 252 SA / 92 HP / 160+ Speed, and you should really consider a modest max hp set

The Speed is useful on Evio Servine to outrun threats such as +Spe Mesprit, Jolly Kabutops, Adamant Sawk, Adamant Kangaskhan, Adamant Zangoose, and Adamant Pinsir, all of which could score some major damage on Servine if the latter doesn't strike them down first. Max HP Servine with no Speed is unappealing for the same reason; you end up exposing Servine to threats such as Garbodor, Samurott, Ludicolo, Magmortar, bulky Rotom-S, and Aurorus for basically no reason.

I know this is WIP but i think you should also mention how Knock off can remove eviolite from the likes of Scyther and Ferroseed which could be great for team support

What can Kabutops do to Servine that won't immediately be gained back with a giga drain? And servine can't really do much to zangoose, kang or sawk in the first place, even with the speed investment

It's useful to prevent revenge killing because Servine won't always be at full, for example assuming max HP, Jolly Life Orb Kabutops does ~50 - 59% with Stone Edge, so if you're below that it can revenge kill you. Also once you're boosted Servine can actually do a lot to the threats you mentioned, +2 Leaf Storm kills all of them after rocks so it's useful to outspeed them.

I do agree with throwing in a mention of Substitute though, I've used it before and it's quite useful. Should likely be given a mention in Moves or maybe even slashed

Ok this is finally ready for QC and I do believe I got most of it although I feel I am lacking quite a bit in Usage Tips (I think it is mainly to me doing this while I am somewhat tired though) so maybe QC can check there first lol.

Klinklang can't ohko rhydon with +1 gear grind, but I would think that to say Rhydon beats up on Klinklang is a bit misleading because Gear Grind still does more than enough if you're switching it in or something, lol. If anything Rocky Helmet Garbo should be the one mentioned as the one checking Klinklang, though it gets severely worn down by it.

You already mention Lanturn, but also mention how Lanturn also checks fletch for servine in TO.

Remove Sneasel mentions

Idk if it's too niche but Sticky Webs go nicely with Servine, as one of the most viable Sticky Web team archetype members. I think using servine is best supported in a para-spam or webs environment where it can outspeed more and sweep, and if not, you're better off using other Grass-types. Feel free to shoot this one down, though.

Probably passable for a QC 1/3, unless you wanna use it a bit in the post sneasel/gallade meta and check back.

NV are you still working on this? Giving you 24 hours to respond and 48 hours to implement marilli's check.

Yes. I am working on this. Been supremely busy irl with personal shit, but I plan to implement marilli's check tonight.

Ok marilli, I decided to take out Klinklang mention as you are right and kept Pawniard while adding in Mawile as both can't beat Rhydon although Rhydon can lose its Evio against Pawniard.

I added in both TOs that Lanturn checks Fletch for Servine, allowing Servine to set up easier.

Sneasel mentions are gone.

Also I am really iffy about adding a Sticky Web mention just because most Sticky Web users (we only have 4 fully evolved ones) have horrible defensive synergy with Servine and not really good offensive synergy either. But if other QC members agree I can add one.

And a month later, after no response and me dealing with personal shit, this has been revived! Now to go and get my WIP out for Combusken...

think it's awkward to say "has a plethora of support moves" then next point you say "has a terrible movepool" try changing that to something like "has limited coverage options outside of its Grass-type STABs." This also can go hand in hand with your mention of Servine's offensive presence because Grass-typing is actually really good offensively, it's just all that Servine has.

Mention Glare's Paralysis is so those offensive threats don't have anymore switch ins vs Servine. Most offensive mons can take one neutral Leaf Storm, but they typically can't take two which makes them unsafe switch ins when they can no longer outspeed Servine. oh and remove fletch here, para doesn't affect it outside of the 25% chance of negating its move

Knock Off is similar on the Scarf set where it removes Lefties/Eviolites on Grass resists to whittle them for Servine sweeping later. I'd prefer you listed stuff like AV from Magmortars or Eviolites from Tangelas instead of Sawk/Tauros who won't switch into Scarf Servine

I like the idea of adding a point in usage tips about being aware of how much Servine does to switch ins. Like, a Pokemon switching in has to take a neutral Leaf Storm, a +2 Leaf Storm, and be able to cripple/KO back.

Also (I don't know if you would want to combine it with the point above) but I think it's relevant to mention that Leaf Storm does more damage in two turns on predicted x2 resistances than HP Ice AND leaves you with boosts.
252 SpA Servine Leaf Storm vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Lilligant: 82-97 (29.1 - 34.5%) -- 7% chance to 3HKO
+2 252 SpA Servine Leaf Storm vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Lilligant: 165-194 (58.7 - 69%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Servine Hidden Power Ice vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Lilligant: 102-122 (36.2 - 43.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
29+58=87 for absolute minimum damage as opposed to the 86% absolute maximum of HP Ice. Main HP Ice targets are things that would avoid the KO from Leaf Storm on the first hit, or things that x4 resist Leaf Storm, such as Vileplume/Roselia.

I second Sticky Web support. There's been that "anti webs" team that LotI RMT'd floating around that puts Servine webs to good use. The concept is even if webs get bounced, Servine gets a Speed boost cause contrary, but if they choose to let Webs get set up, Servine can still outspeed. It makes it so that webs isn't just a good matchup vs offense, but balance too. Obv this works WAY better w/ the Eviolite set but yea.

Poison-types are huge to mention in CC. Vileplume/Roselia/Garb/etc not only resists its STAB but threaten it offensively. Plume/Roselia especially because they x4 resist Leaf Storm.

Put all that in and I'd say it warrants a QC 1/3

  • Try to bring in Servine safely as it is very frail and has a lot of common weaknesses. Mention safely as in a slow Volt/Turn or on a mon that can do nothing back

Team Options
========
  • Pokemon such as Life Orb Pyroar can wallbreak very easily, allowing Servine to spam Leaf Storm more freely and acquire boosts easier. Pyroar can roast Grass- and Steel-types while also providing Will-O-Wisp support.
  • Hazard support is necessary as this Servine set, once known, can force the opponent out a lot more, wearing down the opponent's team. Pokemon such as Garbodor and Rhydon provide a lot of staying power allowing them to set up those entry hazards repeatedly. Mention how Rocks can make the flying types like Fletchinder / Xatu more wary of switching in
  • Heal Bell support from the likes of Lanturn is appreciated as Servine is really susceptible to status, crippling it for the rest of the match. Lanturn can also beat up on Fletchinder as well, allowing Servine to have an immensely easier time setting up and sweeping.
  • Slow VoltTurn Pokemon such as Lanturn and Uxie can bring in Servine safely while also providing Heal Bell or entry hazard support respectively. Uxie also gets Heal Bell

Other Options
=============
  • Aromatherapy
  • Synthesis
Maybe mention Sub/Seed here, as it gives it can possibly annoy slower teams while gaining back its health

Checks and Counters
===================

**Poison-types**: Vileplume, Roselia, and Garbodor resists its Grass-type STAB and threaten it offensively with their Poison-type STAB moves.

**Faster Pokemon**: Archeops and Fletchinder can all OHKO Servine while outspeeding it, leaving any boosts Servine has accumulated useless. Mention how Archeops and others can't really switch in because they can be glared, and I don't think Archeops wants to even switch in on the Scarf set, so probably mention something more relevant

**Status**: Servine has a hard time with any status as it is susceptible to all bar Sleep Powder and Toxic and burn put it on a timer; however, Giga Drain can mitigate this if boosted.

**Specially Bulky Pokemon**: Assault Vest Magmortar and Specially Defensive Mega Audino can either hit Servine supereffectively or stall out Leaf Storms rendering Servine's ability to boost useless.
Changes in Bold, implement and QC 2/3

I notice you've removed mentions of Fletchinder and Uxie, however I don't see any mentions of Skuntank. Skuntank changes the way Servine plays immensely (it might even make scarf unviable but since the sets already recieved 2 checks i dont see a need to remove it). once you've added some info on the new drops tag me for last check

Yeah with skunk hp ground should be slashed somewhere on the set
I don't think scarf really deserves a set but I haven't used this much or seen it used so not too sure

I personally don't like Scarf but when I started out someone told me to have Evio as main set and Scarf as "second" set. If the QC team feels the need to remove the Scarf set and maybe make it a OO mention I can do that (even though this is already written up). I personally only ever used the Eviolite set as I felt just "sweeping" with Leaf Storm was kind of counter-intuitive and Eviolite had the ability to spread Paralysis with Glare and then being able to force a lot of its checks out. But again, I want to see what QC has to offer on this.

Moves
========

Leaf Storm allows Servine to easily snowball slow teams as, thanks to Contrary, Leaf Storm gives a free +2, allowing Servine to boost while also attacking. Giga Drain provides Servine with a more reliable STAB move that is also a form of recovery. Hidden Power Fire allows Servine to hit opposing Grass-types such as Ferroseed and Lilligant while Hidden Power Ice loses out on Ferroseed, but allows Servine to hit Flying-types such as Xatu. Hidden Power Rock can retain coverage on Flying-types, also hitting Scyther harder, but loses out on coverage for opposing Grass-types. Glare allows Servine to cripple faster switchins such as Scyther and Pyroar. Glare's Paralysis also means most offensive mons can't stay in as while they can take one neutral Leaf Storm, they typically can't take two. Substitute can allow Servine to avoid status and be able to set up faster Pokemon. Taunt can be used instead as a way for Servine to break stall and be able to completely destroy slow teams. Synthesis can also be used as a more reliable way of recovery for Servine; however, Servine is already hard pressed for moveslots. Hidden Power Ground can be another option over Hidden Power Fire or Ice which allows Servine to hit Steel- and Fire-types such as Klinklang and Magmortar as well as Skuntank.
- Add defensive Rotom-S as a HP Ice target.
- If HP Rock isn't slashed on the set, why not list it next to HP Ground? Also mention that HP Rock also hits Fire-types.
- The phrasing of Glare seems weird; just say that Glare cripples faster Servine checks on the switch and prevents them from stopping Servine's sweep in the future.
- You already have Synthesis into OO, so remove Synthesis here.
- Mention some targets of Sub and Taunt, such as Lanturn, Quagsire, and Gourgeist-Super.
- Hidden Power Ground's main use is to target Poison-types, not Steel-types (since HP Fire covers for them).
- Since Servine has so many Hidden Power options, you want to cut it down by mentioning the targets of each Hidden Power without the 'another option over Hidden Power Fire or Ice'.

- Most of Hidden Power Rock's targets are faster than Servine, meaning it is only really effective is paired alongside with Glare, compared to other Hidden Powers.
- Personally I feel that HP Ground actually has greater merit on Servine than HP Ice. HP Ground Servine can serve as one of the most efficient Skuntank lures in the meta and helps cover Fire, Steel, and Poison mons in general, whereas the only real targets HP Ice hits that HP Fire doesn't are like Xatu and defensive Rotom-S (HP Ice is more viable on Lilligant since Lilli can boost its Speed). So basically:

move 3: Hidden Power Fire / Hidden Power Ground

...with HP Ice and HP Rock in Moves.

Set Details
========

Maximum Special Attack and Speed EVs are used to allow Servine to hit as hard and as fast as possible. A Timid nature is used to outspeed positive-natured Mesprit, Jolly Kabutops, Adamant Sawk, Adamant Kangaskhan, Adamant Zangoose, and Adamant Pinsir, all of which could hit Servine very hard with STAB moves. Eviolite allows Servine to tank weak hits while it sets up and gives it overall bulk. Contrary allows Servine to boost up while attacking and overpowering the opponent if they lack a Grass switchin, although most Grass resists do not like a +2 Leaf Storm.
Add neutral-natured Magmortar to this list.

Usage Tips
========

Servine can snowball slow threats such as Mega Audino as it has a decent Speed tier while also being able to attack and boost at the same time. Servine must be careful of very fast Pokemon, such as Tauros and Archeops, as most can beat it 1v1 thanks to only decent base 83 Speed stat. However, if Servine hits them with a Glare on a switch, Servine can outspeed them and proceed to snowball the opponent. Pokemon that can survive a Leaf Storm and status back, such as Audino and Weezing, must be weakened before Servine can set up as Servine has a limited number of Leaf Storm uses and doesn't run supereffective coverage for them. Try to bring in Servine safely as it has a lot of common weaknesses and even with Eviolite, it doesn't like taking repeated hits. This can be done by forcing double switches or bringing it in via a slow Volt Switch / U-turn.
Mention Servine can easily make use of its resistances to Water, Electric, and Ground to begin the sweep.

Moves

Leaf Storm allows Servine to easily snowball teams as, thanks to Contrary, Leaf Storm gives a free +2, powering up while also attacking the opponent. Glare allows Servine to cripple a Pokemon before it either dies or is forced out, allowing teammates to take advantage of the paralysis. Knock Off allows Servine to get rid of Pokemon's items, such as Assault Vest Magmortar and Tangela's Eviolite, which can whittle them down to allow a sweep later. Hidden Power Rock allows Servine to hit Scyther hard while retaining coverage on other Flying-types such as Xatu and Swellow.
Add Fire-types as targets.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Poison-types**: Skuntank, Vileplume, Roselia, and Garbodor resists its Grass-type STAB and threaten it offensively with their Poison-type STAB moves.

**Faster Pokemon**: Pyroar and Scyther can cripple or OHKO Servine while outspeeding it, leaving any boosts Servine has accumulated useless. Both, however, do not like being crippled by Glare.

**Sap Sipper Pokemon**: Miltank and Bouffalant are immune to Servine's STAB moves and can procced to setup on or cripple it.

**Specially Bulky Pokemon**: Assault Vest Magmortar and Specially Defensive Mega Audino can either hit Servine supereffectively or stall out Leaf Storms rendering Servine's ability to boost useless.
- Note that the Poison-types are all slower than Servine, meaning they must be wary of any +2 super effective Hidden Powers after switching into Leaf Storm.
- Change to "Faster Pokemon that resist Grass". You can give special mention to fast Rotom-S due to its immunity to paralysis.
