[OVERVIEW]

<p>As the only Pokemon that was unanimously banned from OU, it should be no surprise that Shaymin-S is a threat to prepare for in Doubles. Thanks to its high Speed, Shaymin-S is able to outspeed a large number of important threats such as Darkrai, Terrakion, Garchomp, and Tornadus, as well as various Choice Scarf users such as Tyranitar and Abomasnow. Shaymin-S also has the ability Serene Grace, which gives its two main STAB moves, Seed Flare and Air Slash, an 80% chance to lower the foe's Special Defense and a 60% chance to flinch, respectively. Shaymin's Grass / Flying typing makes it an excellent check to common Pokemon such as Hitmontop, Gastrodon, Rotom-W, and Breloom. Unlike several other powerhouses, such as Hydreigon and Latios, Shaymin-S's main STAB move, Seed Flare, eases prediction due to its high chance of a Special Defense drop. Shaymin can also eliminate common Pokemon with the ability Intimidate, such as Hitmontop, which can aid several physical attackers.

<p>Shaymin-S is not without its faults, however. Despite its typing giving it resistances to the common Water- and Fighting-type moves, it also plagues it with weaknesses to Rock-, Ice-, and Fire-type moves, three common attacking types in Doubles, and will most likely be OHKOed by these moves due to its subpar bulk. Furthermore, Shaymin-S struggles to OHKO anything that isn't weak to its moves without a flinch from Air Slash or a Special Defense drop from Seed Flare. Despite these setbacks, Shaymin-S will make an amazing addition to any Doubles team in need of check to Water- and Fighting-types; just make sure to work around its Ice- and Rock-type weaknesses.</p>

[SET COMMENTS]

<p>With this set, Shaymin-S is able to support its team by removing threats such as Gastrodon and Hitmontop. Air Slash functions as Shaymin-S's main STAB move thanks to its amazing coverage in Doubles as well as its 60% chance to flinch, which can give free turns to both Shaymin-S and its partner. Seed Flare is Shaymin-S's secondary STAB move, OHKOing all but the most specially defensive Gastrodon through its Rindo Berry and can help several of Shaymin-S's teammates achieve more OHKOs thanks to its 80% chance to lower the foe's Special Defense. Earth Power allows Shaymin-S to hit bulky Fire- and Steel-types such as Metagross and Heatran for decent damage. Hidden Power Ice is an equally effective option, as it can hit several of Shaymin-S's counters, such as Thundurus, Hydreigon, and Tornadus for a great amount of damage. If these coverage moves aren't your cup of tea, then Substitute can be used to allow Shaymin-S survive a potentially fatal hit or dodge Thundurus's crippling Thunder Wave and makes it incredibly annoying when combined with Air Slash. Protect allows Shaymin-S to scout what its foe is doing, as well as protect it from spread moves.</p>

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

<p>A Life Orb is the recommended item for this set to increase Shaymin-S's damage output as well as OHKO standard Hitmontop after one turn of sandstorm damage. However, Yache Berry is still useful for taking priority Ice Shard and Hidden Power Ice. A Charti Berry or Focus Sash can be used to survive various attacks, but the Yache Berry is more useful for surviving weaker Ice-type moves. Shaymin-S can also use a Grass Gem to have a decent chance to OHKO Tyranitar, but this item is not useful in any other situation. Tailwind is a viable option on this set, as Shaymin-S has access to one of the fastest non-Prankster Tailwinds in the game. However, this is better left to dedicated Tailwind users, such as Togekiss and Tornadus.</p>

<p>Thundurus is Shaymin-S's worst nightmare, as it resists both of Shaymin-S's main STAB moves and can either neuter Shaymin-S with Thunder Wave or deal a tremendous amount of damage with Hidden Power Ice, so packing a counter to it such as Choice Scarf Mamoswine is recommended. While not required, Thunder Wave support is extremely useful, as it increases the chance of the foe doing nothing when combined with Air Slash. Dark-types such as Tyranitar, Bisharp, and Hydreigon are very good partners, as they can all heavily damage Pokemon that give Shaymin-S trouble, such as Cresselia and Thundurus. Heatran and Kingdra are able to to defeat the Steel- and Fire-types that can easily wall Shaymin-S. Volcarona and Jirachi are also solid partners for this set, as the former can dismantle Latios, Latias, and Hydreigon with Bug Buzz as well as Steel-types and Thundurus with a Fire Gem-boosted Overheat, while the latter can redirect the threatening Ice- and Rock-type moves. Despite overlapping your team's Ice weakness, Ground-types such as Landorus-T, Garchomp, and Excadrill are excellent partners, as they can defeat the Fire- and Steel-types that give Shaymin-S trouble. In return, Shaymin-S can defeat the Water- and Fighting-types, such as Breloom and Gastrodon, that give those Pokemon trouble. Shaymin's typing also lets them use Earthquake with no repercussions.</p>

[Other Options]

<p>Shaymin-S lacks many other options due to its mediocre movepool. Shaymin-S can use Healing Wish in conjunction with a Focus Sash to attack once or twice and heal a damaged teammate. However, Shaymin-S's average bulk means that it may not always pull off this tactic, despite its amazing Speed. Shaymin-S can use a Choice Scarf to a great effect, as this allows it to outspeed opposing Choice Scarf users such as Genesect as well as every Swift Swimmer up to Timid Kingdra. Shaymin-S also has several support moves such as Safeguard, Worry Seed, and Leech Seed, but this is better left to Whimsicott, which can immediately use these moves due to Prankster. Finally, Shaymin-S can use Leaf Storm to have a higher chance to OHKO Tyranitar, but it is inferior to Seed Flare in nearly every other situation.</p>

[Checks and Counters]

<p>Despite Shaymin-S's high Speed and Special Attack, its limited coverage makes it relatively easy to counter. As previously mentioned, Thundurus is Shaymin-S's greatest counter, as it can take one Hidden Power Ice and either cripple it with Thunder Wave or deal a large amount of damage with its own Hidden Power Ice. Zapdos and Thundurus-T can do similar jobs, but both lack the ability to immediately cripple Shaymin-S with a Prankster Thunder Wave. Rotom-H also makes a solid counter to Shaymin-S, as it resists everything in Shaymin-S's arsenal and can OHKO it with a Fire Gem-boosted Overheat. Cresselia is able to take two Life Orb-boosted Seed Flares from Shaymin-S and either cripple it with Thunder Wave or deal an enormous amount of damage with Icy Wind. Cresselia dislikes the Special Defense drops from Seed Flare and flinches from Air Slash, however. Bulky Dragon-types such as Kyurem-B, Hydreigon, and Latios are able to take one super effective Hidden Power Ice, or in Kyurem-B's case, Air Slash, and OHKO with their respective STAB attacks. Bulky Fire-types such as Chandelure, Heatran, and Victini aren't fazed by anything Shaymin-S throws at them apart from a Life Orb-boosted Earth Power and can OHKO in return with their respective Fire STAB. Steel-types such as Bisharp, Metagross, and Jirachi, as well as bulky Flying-types such as Tornadus and Togekiss, can function as solid checks to Shaymin-S, taking a hit and retaliating with their powerful STAB moves. Bisharp and Tornadus even benefit from Seed Flare's Special Defense drop due to Defiant, while Metagross is unaffected by it due to Clear Body. If you happen to lack any defensive answers to Shaymin-S, then revenge killing it is always an option. Weavile and Mamoswine can both bypass Shaymin-S's amazing Speed with a 4x super effective Ice Shard, while Choice Scarf users such as Genesect, Kyurem-B, Kyurem, and Cloyster can revenge kill Shaymin-S with an Ice move, even if it is carrying a Yache Berry. Pokemon with the Swift Swim ability, such as Ludicolo and Kingdra, can also revenge kill Shaymin-S with their boosted Speed in the rain. In the sand, Excadrill is a solid check to Shaymin-S, as a Life Orb-boosted Iron Head will bring Shaymin-S down to its knees. The rare Crobat and Aerodactyl are naturally faster than Shaymin-S and destroy it with Acrobatics and Stone Edge, respectively. Finally, Trick Room teams can make Shaymin-S's Speed a liability, as it is outsped by nearly every Pokemon in Doubles under the twisted dimensions.</p>
[OVERVIEW]

  • Blazing fast speed allows Shaymin-s to outspeed a large number of major threats, including Choice Scarf Tyranitar, Choice Scarf Abomnasnow, Darkrai, and Tornadus.
  • Serene grace coupled with two excellent STABs to abuse it in Seed Flare and Air Slash
  • Great for taking out notable pokemon like Gastrodon, Breloom and Rotom-Wash who many teams can struggle with.
  • Seed Flare eases on prediction with its added bonus of having an 80% to lower the opponents special defense by two stages which is an incredibly powerful effect.
  • Shaymin-s is unaffected by intimidate and can even KO premier uses of the ability such as Hitmontop with a Life Orb boosted Air Slash
  • Shaymin-s has a decent typing with resistances to water and fighting as well as an immunity to ground. However it does have a 4x weakness to ice and a weakness to fire and rock, all of which have a fairly common spread move.
  • Has support options but is often outclassed by other, bulkier pokemon.

[SET]

name: Offensive
move 1: Air Slash
move 2: Seed Flare
move 3: Earth Power / Hidden Power Ice / Substitute
move 4: Protect
item: Life Orb / Yache Berry
nature: Timid
evs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

  • The quintessential annoying set. Air slash helps Shaymin to support your team with a 60% to cause a flinch which can take threats and counters out of the game and earn free turns for its partner.
  • Seed flare hits bulky waters like gastrodon even KOing variants with a Rindo berry. It also helps you handle Cresselia and can be fired at switch ins to lower their special defense and render them much weaker.
  • Earth Power provides coverage to hit Steel- and Fire-types, such as Heatran, Chandelure, and Metagross which Shaymin can’t otherwise hit whereas HP Ice deals with a plethora of Ice weak Pokemon such as Thundurus and Landorus T. Substitute is another great option and with good prediction it can make Shaymin very hard to kill.
  • Protect is standard for doubles and helps Shaymin stay alive longer and is good for prediction.
  • Life Orb is recommended to increase damage, providing enough to OHKO 252 / 0 Hitmontop 75% of the time but Yache Berry can be used to survive an Ice-type move
  • Thundurus I is the bane of this set with both STABs being resisted and also threatening Shaymin with paralysis which totally neuters it.
  • The set also struggles to take down anything with considerable bulk without luck from Air Slash, or a Special Defense drop from Seed Flare

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

  • Shaymin loves paralysis support from something like Thundurus I as it increases the chance for a flinch from Air Slash.
  • Shaymin has access to the fastest non prankster Tailwind and it is a viable option over Protect or the coverage moves..
  • Shaymin can use a Charti Berry or Focus Sash to survive various attacks, but these items are less useful tan the Yache Berry
  • Shaymin can also use a Grass Gem to have a high chance to OHKO Tyranitar even in sand. A Life Orb is generally better though.
  • Dark-types such as Hydreigon, Bisharp, and Tyranitar can eliminate several Pokemon that threaten Shaymin, such as Cresselia and Thundurus-I
  • In return, Shaymin can eliminate the bulky Water- and Fighting-types that plague the aforementioned Dark-types
  • Heatran and Kingdra also appreciate the removal of Water- and Fighting-types and both can remove Fire-, Dragon-, and Steel-types that would otherwise wall Shaymin
  • Follow Me Jirachi can redirect powerful Ice- and Fire-type move
  • Volcarona can remove Cresslia, the Lati twins, and ydreigon with Bug Buzz, as well as remove Steel-types and Thundurus with a Fire Gem boosted Overheat

[OTHER OPTIONS]
  • Shaymin can use Healing Wish coupled with a sash to fire off an attack or too then rejuvenate a battered sweeper, it’s speed makes this appealing but low bulk means you may not always pull it off.
  • Shaymin can also use a Choice Scarf set to outspeed opposing scarfers such as Genesect, who would otherwise easily beat it with their boosted speed
  • Shaymin can also run a potent scarf set which has the ability to outspeed and KO Ludicolo, however, it cannot reliably beat Kingdra.
  • Safeguard can be used to protect your team from status.
  • Leaf Storm may be used over Seed Flare for the higher accuracy and higher base power which allows it to KO Tyranitar more often.
  • Leech Seed can be used but is generally not advised as it it outclassed by its offensive moves.
  • Worry seed is another support option to take tricky abilities such as levitate out of the game.

[CHECKS AND COUNTERS]

  • Thundurus, Thunduru-T, Zapdos
  • Weavile
  • Mamoswine
  • Scarf users such as Genesect, Kyurem-B and Cloyster
  • Kyurem / Kyurem-Black
  • Swift Swimmers (Kingrda / Ludicolo)
  • Trick Room
  • Bulky Fire-types such as Victini and Heatran if Shaymin lacks Earth Power
  • Lati@s are also hard for shaymin to touch
  • Cresselia
  • Hydreigon
  • Steel-types such as Bisharp, Metagross, and Jirachi
  • Flying-types such as Tornadus and Togekiss

whereas HP Ice deals with a plethora of 4x weak Pokemon such as Thundurus and Landorus T.
Thundurus isn't quad weak to Ice.
The set also struggles to take down anything with considerable bulk without luck from Air Slash.
or from Seed Flare's 2-stage Special Defense drop

Checks & Counters: Scarf Heatran is pretty darn rare, i'll remove it. Also add Zapdos and THundurus-T with Thundurus.

Thanks for taking this over, Magcargo 2 :)

I would personally change Yache Berry slash to Focus Sash.

252+ SpA Abomasnow Blizzard vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Yache Berry Shaymin-S: 320-380 (94.39 - 112.09%) -- 68.75% chance to OHKO
252 SpA Life Orb Genesect Ice Beam vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Yache Berry Shaymin-S: 322-380 (94.98 - 112.09%) -- 68.75% chance to OHKO (Expert Belt is sometimes KO, and these two are without the better Download boost)

These are some examples of some of the weaker-ish moves, and are very unreliable. Focus Sash also lets you live Sun-boosted Heat Waves, and ridiculously powerful moves such as Dragon Gem Latios's Draco Meteor, Choice Banded Kyurem-B's Dragon Claw, and Flying Gem-boosted Acrobatics from Tornadus; all of these can survive any hit and OHKO back, unless you have a Focus Sash. Mention in AC that Focus Sash is generally preferred alongside either perma- or manual rain / sun, as Hail and Sand will break through Focus Sash, and the respective popular moves of the two weather teams (Blizzards and Rock Slides) will OHKO Skymin through Sash.

Then move Yache Berry to AC. This is just bringing up discussion before you complete it; easier to fix some bullet points than an entire write-up. If I get some QC agreement, do this, if not, then fuck it, it's just my experience with using Shaymin-S.

I suggested Yache Berry, because I figured Shaymin-S has a decent 100 / 75 / 75 defenses to take hits without sash (it can survive Tyranitar's Rock Slide), and it's not immune to sand or hail damage. Yache will allow Shaymin-S to tank STAB Ice Shards and weaker nonSTAB HP Ice / Ice Beams from Thundurus / Ludicolo / Cresselia, etc. I'd like to hear more input from other QC members about which one to slash with Life Orb.

Also please move 4 EVs in HP to SpD @Magcargo 2.

I've moved the EV @Pocket.
Anyways, this might go into the lines of getting "Slashy", but I think that both the Focus Sash and Yache Berry should get slashes as the item, as both are equally useful due to the reasoning both Pocket and Laga provided.

yache should go to ac for the same reason as landorus-t; it (probably) survives some ice moves and isn't broken by fake out or what have you, but you miss out on living fire moves and stone edge.

Yache > sash imo. For the most part yache is nice to live things like ice shards and random hp ices and skymin's sash could be broken really easily. Also while skymin isn't bulky per se it's not frail enough to justify sash on a mon that isn't immune to any recoil weathers anyways. while blizzard from aboma kos anyways you have like a 60% chance to beat it with skymin if it isn't using ice shard just by flinching it and attacking again the next turn. That example is also kinda skewed since t would die to hail anyways. Ice tends to be the most common hidden power too, so it can be harder to see coming than a rock or fire type move

don't use skymin ?_? but in all seriousness,
Yache berry would most likely be more effective, ( i don't know calcs ) focus sash, would be more useful for facing pokemon like Mamoswine and weavile who has stab ice attacks. both of which aren't that common. Yache berry allows you to take on the plethora of pokemon who like to use random hp ices or pokemon who have random ice beams that skymin will brush off.
An argument against abomasnow can be made, but you still die at the end of the turn regardless of what happens. so Yache berry is the more useful of the two

Yache Berry lets Shaymin-S survive STAB Ice Shard, btw.

Thanks for the feedback, guys - let's stick with slashing Yache Berry then :toast:

I've never liked Shaymin-S's item options tbh, an Ice Gem Ice Shard off of Mamoswine OHKOs Yache Berry Shaymin-S most of the time anyways. And Sash gets broken really easily. I'd agree w/ Yache Berry > Sash though in most cases.

-EDIT-
Thumbs up for LO :>

Overview
  • "Shaymin's excellent Grass / Flying typing makes it an excellent check to common Pokemon such as Hitmontop, Gastrodon, Rotom-W, and Breloom." -Grass / Flying is certainly not excellent, given it has flaws later mentioned in STAB coverage and a terrifying Ice (and Rock) weakness. I'd rephrase this accordingly (just don't portray it as "excellent").
Set Comments
  • "Protect allows Shaymin-S to scout what its foe is doing, as well as protect it from spread moves." -You make this sound like Protect only helps against spread attacks; rephrase it more like "and can Protect from dangerous attacks, most notably Blizzard and Heat Wave" (or something like that)
Additional Comments
  • "Tailwind is a viable option on this set, as Shaymin-S has access to the fastest Non-Prankster Tailwind in the game." -Did you even hear the word "Crobat"? *cough* rephrase :p (Srsly though, say "one of the fastest")
  • Start a new paragraph when you begin talking about partners (Grammatical thing)
Other Options
  • Nothing to report.
Checks and Counters
  • Nothing to say here really, though the Scarf Kyurem set can OHKO it in Hail even if it holds Yache Berry (it can OHKO outside of too, I guess)

I know this isn't GP yet, but I think this is the easiest way of me suggesting changes

[SET COMMENTS]

<p>With this set, Shaymin-S is able to support its team by removing threats such as Gastrodon and Hitmontop. Air Slash functions as Shaymin-S's main STAB move thanks to its amazing coverage in Doubles, as well as its 60% chance to flinch, which can give free turns to Shaymin-S and its partner. Seed Flare is Shaymin-S's secondary STAB move, OHKOing Gastrodon through its Rindo Berry (this depends on Gastrodon's EV spread, so say "all but the most specially bulky Gastrodon" or somesuch) and it can help several of Shaymin-S's teammates achieve a larger amount of more OHKOes thanks to its 80% chance to lower the foe's Special Defense. Earth Power allows Shaymin-S to hit bulky Fire- and Steel-types such as Metagross and Heatran for decent damage. Hidden Power Ice is an equally effective option, as it can hit several of Shaymin-S's counters, such as Thundurus-I, Hydreigon, and Tornadus for a great amount amount of damage. [ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

<p>A Life Orb is the recommended item for this set to increase Shaymin-S's damage output as well as OHKO standard Hitmontop after one round of sandstorm damage. Tailwind is a viable option on this set, as Shaymin-S has access to one of the fastest Non-Prankster Tailwinds in the game. Heatran and Kingdra are able to to defeat the Steel-, Fighting-, and Water-types that can easily wall Shaymin-S (What? How does Heatran beat Fighting- and Water-types? Which Water-types wall Shaymin-S?). Volcarona and Jirachi are also solid partners for this set, as the former can dismantle Latios, Latias, and Hydreigon with Bug Buzz, as well as Steel-types and Thundurus-I with Bug Buzz and a Fire Gen Gem-boosted Overheat, respectively, while the latter can redirect the powerful threatening Ice- and Rock-type moves (dubious, considering the most commonly-used moves of these types, Rock Slide and Icy Wind, are spread moves). In return, Shaymin-S can defeat the Water- and Fighting-types, such as Breloom and Gastrodon, that give all of the aforementioned Pokemon trouble.</p>

Shaymin-S has several support moves such as Safegaurd, Worry Seed, and Leech Seed, but this is better left to Whimsicott, who can immediately use these moves due to Prankster. Finally, Shaymin-S can use Leaf Storm to have a higher chance to OHKO Tyranitar, but it is inferior to Seed Flare in nearly every other situation.</p>

Bulky Fire-types such as Chandelure and Victini aren't phazed by anything Shaymin-S throws at them (actually, Life Orb Earth Power is a certain OHKO on 4/0 Chandelure, so rephrase this) and can OHKO in return with their respective Fire STAB. Steel-types such as Bisharp, Metagross, and Jirachi, as well as bulky Flying-types such as Tornadus and Togekiss can function as solid checks to Shaymin-S, taking a hit and retaliating with their powerful STAB moves. I'll look over this a bit more thoroughly this time around.
Overview
  • You say Shaymin-S outspeeds a large number of important threats, but then mention only two, both of which are certainly not the first that come to my mind. Mentioning a few more threats here would probably be a good idea (some examples would be Latios, Thundurus, Terrakion, Garchomp, etc)
  • "Shaymin's decent Grass / Flying typing" just remove decent, as it really isn't needed here
  • Shaymin-S has Earth Power, so it really doesn't struggle with most opponents who resist its STAB attacks bar Rotom-H, so you should reword that sentence in paragraph 2
  • Shaymin's defenses should be mentioned as an issue in tandem with its common weaknesses, as while 100/75/75 is certainly not horrible, it doesn't give Shaymin-S enough bulk to handle any Super-Effective attacks
  • The last sentence is highly generalized (I'm admittedly really good at over-generalizing those too, but), try to specify some of the support or ways you can work around its flaws, or you could simply mention some of the excellent roles it can play for a team. (For example: "Despite these setbacks, Shaymin-S will make an amazing addition to any Doubles team in need of a teammate that can dispose of both bulky Water-types and Fighting-types. Just make sure your team can efficiently work around its weaknesses, most notably Ice- and Fire-types." [I wouldn't recommend directly copying my sentence because like I said I'm pretty bad at them; Pocket knows a couple of good examples of how to close the Overview, so I'd recommend you consult him for ideas if you don't have any])
Set
  • Personally I think Substitute ought to be in AC here, but assuming someone told you to put that on the set, you can just ignore me :)
Set Comments
  • Nothing to add.
Additional Comments
  • The first paragraph here flows erratically. After saying that LO is the recommended item, you don't explain Yache Berry, so do that
  • I also think the mention of Charti Berry and Focus Sash should come right after the Yache Berry mention you add, and then Grass Gem should come after those, then be followed by the Tailwind mention (so that items are with items, moves w/ moves, etc)
  • For the record, bulky Thundurus can tank a Rock Slide off of Tyranitar (courtesy of spread damage reduction) and a Dragon Gem Draco Meteor off of Hydreigon, so saying "as they can all eliminate Cresselia and bulky Thundurus-I" is pretty shaky at best. I'd just stick with "they can deal heavy damage" for this sentence
  • Mention Ground-types for teammates (like Excadrill, Garchomp, Lando-T, etc), as while they compound Shaymin-S Ice-type weakness, this can be handled by another Pokemon and Ground-types excel at eliminating Fire- and Steel-types that give Shaymin-S trouble.

  • Shaymin-S actually doesn't mind being locked onto a move, at least in comparison to other choices users. just spamming Seed Flare will admittedly work out most of the time, sharply lowering the Special Defense of resists who can tank it and then snagging a KO
Checks and Counters
  • Most notably, this section is full of typos, so look it over :]
  • Mention Rotom-H in here, it resists both STAB moves and is immune to Earth Power, and can smack Shaymin-S around with Overheat or its own Hidden Power Ice
  • Also mention Excadrill w/ Sand Rush for revenge killing, as its LO boosted Rock Slide (or Iron Head, not sure which does more) can do a number to Shaymin
Well that's about it. Since no one else seems to care (er imeanwut) and most of the errors seem to be GP ones at this point (assuming what I checked is changed and what not), I'll approve it (if anyone disagrees, speak now):

[OVERVIEW]

<p>As the only Pokemon who was banned from OU by 100% of the voters a unanimous voute, it should be no surprise that Shaymin-S is a threat to prepare for in Doubles. Thanks to its high Speed, Shaymin-S is able to outspeed a large number of important threats, such as Darkrai.,(AC) Terrakion, Garchomp, and Tornadus, as well as various Choice Scarf users such as Tyranitar and Abomasnow. Shaymin-S also has the ability Serene Grace, which give its two main STAB moves, Seed Flare and Air Slash, an 80% chance to lower the foe's Special Defense and a 60% chance to flinch, respectively. Shaymin can also eliminate common Pokemon with the ability Intimidate such as Hitmontop, which can aid several physical attackers.
Furthermore, Shaymin-S struggles to OHKO anything that isn't weak to its moves without a flinch from Air Slash,(RC) or a Special Defense drop from Seed Flare. Despite these setbacks, Shaymin-S will make an amazing addition to any Doubles team that loves Water- and Fighting-types eliminated in need of a Water- or Fighting-type check; just make sure to work around its Ice- and Rock-type weaknesses.</p>

Seed Flare is Shaymin-S's secondary STAB move, OHKOing all but the most specially defensive Gastrodon through its Rindo Berry and it can help several of Shaymin-S's teammates achieve more OHKOes thanks to its 80% chance to lower the foe's Special Defense.

<p>A Life Orb is the recommended item for this set to increase Shaymin-S's damage output as well as OHKO standard Hitmontop after one round turn of sandstorm damage. However, the Yache Berry is still useful for taking priority Ice Shards and Hidden Power Ices. Tailwind is a viable option on this set, as Shaymin-S has access to one of the fastest Nnon-Prankster Tailwinds in the game. However, this is better left to dedicated Tailwind users, such as Togekiss and Tornadus.</p>
<p>Thundurus-I is Shaymin-S's worst nightmare, as it resists both of Shaymin-S's main STAB moves, and can either neuter Shaymin-S with Thunder Wave,(RC) or deal a tremendous amount of damage with Hidden Power Ice, so packing a counter to it such as Choice Scarf Mamowine is recommended. While not required, Thunder Wave support is extremely useful, as it increases the chance of the foe doing nothing when combined with Air Slash. Dark-types such as Tyranitar, Bisharp, and Hydreigon are very good partners, as they can all heavily damage Pokemon that give Shaymin-S trouble, such as Cresselia and Thundurus-I. Heatran and Kingdra are able to to defeat the Steel-,(RC) and Fire-types that can easily wall Shaymin-S. Volcarona and Jirachi are also solid partners for this set, as the former can dismantle Latios, Latias, and Hydreigon with Bug Buzz, as well as Steel-types and Thundurus-I with a Fire Gem-boosted Overheat, while the latter can redirect the threatening Ice- and Rock-type moves. Despite overlapping your team's Ice weakness, Ground-types such as Landorus-T, Garchomp, and Excadrill are excellent partners, as they can defeat the Fire- and Steel-types that give Shaymin-S trouble. In return, Shaymin-S can defeat the Water- and Fighting-types, such as Breloom and Gastrodon, that give all of the aforementioned Pokemon trouble.</p>

[OTHER OPTIONS][Other Options]
<p>Shaymin-S lacks many other options due to its mediocre movepool. Shaymin-S can use Healing Wish in conjunction with a Focus Sash to attack once or twice and heal a damaged teammate. However, Shaymin-S's average bulk means that this it may not always pull off this tactic, despite its amazing speed. Shaymin-S can use a Choice Scarf to a great effect, as it can allows it to outspeed opposing Choice Scarf users such as Genesect, as well as every Swift Swimmer up to Timid Kingdra. Shaymin-S also has several support moves such as Safegaurd Safeguard, Worry Seed, and Leech Seed, but this is better left to Whimsicott, who can immediately use these moves due to Prankster. Finally, Shaymin-S can use Leaf Storm to have a higher chance to OHKO Tyranitar, but it is inferior to Seed Flare in nearly every other situation.</p>

[CHECKS AND COUNTERS][Checks and Counters]
<p>Despite Shaymin-S's high Speed and Special Attack, its limited coverage makes it relatively easy to counter. As previously mentioned, Thundurus is Shaymin-S's greatest counter, as it can take one Hidden Power Ice and either cripple it with Thunder Wave or deal a large amount of damage with its own Hidden Power Ice. Zapdos and Thundurus-I-T (I assume you mean Thundurus-T) can do a similar jobs, but both lack the ability to immediately cripple Shaymin-S with a Prankster Thunder Wave. Rotom-H also makes a solid counter to Shaymin-S, as it resist everything in Shaymin-S's arsenal and can OHKO it with a Fire Gem-(add hyphen)boosted Overheat. Cresselia is able to take two Life Orb-boosted Seed Flares from Shaymin-S and either cripple it with Thunder Wave,(RC) or deal an enormous amount of damage with Icy Wind. Steel-types such as Bisharp, Metagross, and Jirachi, as well as bulky Flying-types such as Tornadus and Togekiss can function as solid checks to Shaymin-S, taking a hit and retaliating with their powerful STAB moves. Bisharp and Tornadus even benefit from Seed Flare's Special Defense drop due to Defiant, while Metagross is unaffected by it due to Clear Body.</p>
<p>If you happen to lack any defensive answers to Shaymin-S, then revenge killing it is always an option. Pokemon with the Swift Swim ability, such as Ludicolo and Kingdra, can also revenge kill Shaymin-S with their boosted sSpeed in the rain. In the sand, Excadrill is a solid check to Shaymin-S, as a Life Orb-boosted Iron Head will bring Shaymin-S down ton its knees. The rare Crobat and Aerodactyl are naturally faster than Shaymin-S and destroy it with Stone Edge and Acrobatics Acrobatics and Stone Edge, respectively. Finally, Trick Room teams can make Shaymin-S's Speed a liability, as it is "outsped" by nearly every common Pokemon in Doubles under the twisted dimensions.</p>
