I don't usually do predictions, but my assistant manager's post urged me to, so here we go. Also, keep in mind that I have tons of respect for a vast majority of these players, but that'll go without saying in the predictions so they don't turn into a glorified dick-sucking fest. Only doing predicts for the tiers I can actually give "useful" insight on

BW OU

Vinc2612 55-45 Finchinator

Probably the most bold prediction of the bunch. Finchinator is, in my opinion, a kind of player that relies heavily on scouting the opponent, falling back on very standard and consistent teams if there's no "innovative" strategy that will grant him a match up edge. Vince is easily one of the most underrated players in this tournament to me, and I can see the Frenchman's ability to pilot pretty much every team known to men at a high level favoring him slightly against Mr. Thicc Eyebrows. All in all, this match is one of my highlights for this week, so I hope you both kill it.

McMeghan 60-40 Shoka

You know what? Forget anything I've ever said about Roro's rust dragging him down. Motivation might still be an issue after catching a Week 1 L, but I think McMeghan should bring this one home anyway as long as bad fortune doesn't screw him over. The fact that he's not afraid to bring some of the wackiest strategies in the tier to a big game, as displayed by his Week 1 team, could either help him massively or be his downfall against Shoka, who hasn't steered away that much from cookie cutter BW teams in his big games. To sum it up, I think this will be a "do or die" kind of game, where one of the sides is going to get rolled over by the other one effortlessly, be it due to a bad match up or a very ballsy play that will make the Smogtours chat wilder than a Justin Bieber concert.

Soulwind 70-30 Reymedy

Soulwind's Week 1 performance was pretty good and he's been one of the most consistent guys for years now, so it would be pretty unfair not to predict him to win, especially considering the messy first week display shown by Reymedy, who's supposedly playing in his "home tier" this SPL. I think Reymedy will bring a more conservative team with one tech or two that will help him capitalizing on Soulwind's typical builds this time around, while the Spaniard will just effortlessly do his thing and come out on top, assuming bad luck doesn't hit him too hard.

dice 45-55 Jirachee

Once again, we have a fairly standard player against someone who isn't afraid to bring/do wacky stuff in a big game. Even though they're both coming from unfortunate week 1 Ls, I believe that this has the potential to be one of the best games of the week as long as dice doesn't use Choice Specs Salamence as a replacement for the menace that is Latios. Favoring slick by a small margin due to his slightly more consistent level of play, but keep in mind that he is very prone to being given the corporation by an unexpected set or team choice on Brii's part, which is a big reason why I'm expecting this to be a fun one.

SM Doubles

Memoric 60-40 Laga

Momentum-wise this is pretty much an even match, since both players are coming from a Week 1 L. However, and in spite of his very formulatic/standard play, I'm giving the edge to Memoric here because of his consistency and fairly good luck, which should grant him the W unless Laga goes ham on the innovation and plays.

MajorBowman 65-35 kamikaze

It baffles me that someone who's clearly not from this planet uses the word "man" on his nickname, but that aside, I don't think kamikaze will be the one to handle this creature its first SPL L. Jokes aside, Major Howman makes consistent plays and his Week 1 display was very convincing, while kamikaze, in spite of having the potential to perform (IMO) and a manager that knows the tier like the back of his hand, has been having a rough time with SPL.

KyleCole 55-45 Braverius

Another personal highlight of mine for this week. Both players have a ton of competitive experience under their belts, which, along with the fact that they both had convincing displays during the first week, should turn this match into a pretty tight fight. Giving the edge to KyleCole due to his very creative approach to the tier and ability to keep the opponents guessing every turn of the match, which works as a natural counter to Braverius's slightly more conservative way of playing, but Zach could also come out on top if he manages to stay calm or brings a neat tech of his own.

I Am a Rookie 40-60 Biosci

Don't get me wrong; I'm very impressed with Rookie's Week 1 performance and think that he'll actually kill SPL if he sets his mind on it, but Biosci is likely to be one of his hardest opponents due to the fact that he happened to be Rookie's team dealer for the match against Laga, along with the fact that he's probably more familiar with Rookie's approach to the game than Laga was, although this sort of prediction is more of a shot in the dark than anything else, as I don't actually know what's going on behind the scenes.

RBY OU

MetalGro$$ 45-55 Alexander.

Assuming no big case of RBY happens in this set, it should be fairly even. Favoring my brother Baby Quasar by a slight margin based on Week 1 momentum and nationality (Italians are RBY gods, and anyone who tries to deny this is clearly delusional). The fact that there's no lower tier to randomly slot Alexander in after he's racked up momentum in a tier that's within his comfort zone also helps a little, I guess!

Golden Gyarados 40-60 Bedschibaer

Coming from the streets of CPG, play(dot)pokemonshowdown(dot)com City, the Bedschibaer is ready to send his poor opponents to the trashcan, and in spite of getting canned himself during the first week, I'm still favoring him to win based on his consistency (although the fact that he did outstandingly for the Wolfpack last year introduces some big bias to the prediction). Golden Gyarados is a player that is good enough to rack a couple of wins up but is unlikely to have an outstanding season, so it's pretty hard to count him out, especially considering RBY's nature.

Peasounay 55-45 Lusch

I don't actually have much to say about this match up aside from the fact that Peasounay VS Nails was probably my favorite RBY set last week (Beds VS Crystal was pretty enjoyable too), so I'll be favoring the Fisherman's countryman to win this one by a slight margin, as Lusch is also carrying some momentum from the previous week. Expecting to see some fun stuff from either of these guys.

We Three Kings 35-65 Crystal_

Honestly, I'm pretty excited for The Tree King's SPL debut, but even though I expect big things from him eventually, I also find it pretty hard to predict the man who single handily destroyed the RBY metagame as we once knew it, since he has a ton of things going for him, including a fine Week 1 showing and flawless knowledge of the generation's mechanics, the latter which should allow him to come out on top of this showdown in the end. Once again, and in spite of the fact that the RBY metagame has pretty much been cracked out, I'm expecting to see some more neat and unique strategies coming from the Spaniard, which will spice up this set a little.

Last but not least, I hope that both my awoos and the Raiders have a wonderful week full of tight and clean matches. Personally looking forward to the showoffs between UD and Asta, Hack and Oli and FV and TDK.
