[OVERVIEW]
Spearow does not excel at much, but carves out a niche by having an option to heavily damage Rock- and Steel-types in Drill Run, while other Flying-types such as Taillow and Fletchling cannot deal as much damage with their coverage moves. Spearow also has decent Speed and Attack, alongside an alright movepool, but that is where the positives end
Spearow's typing doesn't really help it offensively. It also leaves it with very few resistances and weaknesses to Ice-, Electric-, and Rock-type moves, compounded by being extremely frail. Spearow also has a mediocre ability in Sniper that doesn't provide much usefulness. Spearow is also weak to Stealth Rock, which means it has limited switch-in opportunities and when paired with Life Orb and Double-Edge recoil, Spearow will be worn down very easily. Spearow is almost completely outclassed by Pokemon such as Doduo, Fletchling, Taillow, or even Starly, as they have better Attack, better Speed, and have better abilities.

Moves
========
Double-Edge is Spearow's most powerful STAB attack, but it inflicts recoil damage on Spearow after use. Drill Peck is another good STAB attack that provides super effective coverage against Grass- and Fighting-types. U-turn allows Spearow to keep up momentum for its team and switch out of its checks and counters while dealing chip damage. Drill Run is used ito hit Electric-, Rock-, and Steel-types for super effective damage, as the latter two types resist all other STAB. However, all Electric-types other than Magnemite are hit harder by Double-Edge.
Set Details
========
Sniper is the preferred ability, as Spearow doesn't have a better ability to use; the ability has decent synergy with Drill Run to attempt to land critical hits. Life Orb powers up Spearow's moves, but gives a tiny bit of recoil damage. The IVs in HP lower Spearow's HP to an amount where the Life Orb recoil only takes off one point of HP and also allow Spearow to switch into Stealth Rock for 5 times at most. The investment in Attack lets Spearow hit as hard as possible, while the EVs in both defenses give a tiny boost to Spearow's bad bulk. The investment in Speed is backed up by a Jolly nature, allowing Spearow to Speed tie with Drilbur and Mienfoo.
Usage Tips
========
Make sure to not recklessly switch in Spearow, as it's extremely frail, and with Stealth Rock up, Spearow will take damage every time it switches in, wearing it down quite easily. U-turn out when you predict that a check or counter to Spearow will switch in, as you can switch to another Pokemon that can proceed to beat that threat; the move also helps to keep momentum for the team. Spearow can, however, be switched in to outspeed and revenge kill a Pokemon, but this should be done carefully, as Spearow is frail.
Team Options
========
Magnemite is a good teammate in particular, as it covers all of Spearow's weaknesses. In return, Spearow beats the Fighting-types that trouble Magnemite while being immune to Ground. Cleric support from Pokemon such as Spritzee and Snubbull is quite useful, as status cripples Spearow. Rapid Spin or Defog users such as Drilbur or Vullaby make for pretty good teammates too, as they can remove Stealth Rock which troubles Spearow. Pokemon that can take care of Rock-types reliably, such as Pawniard and Mienfoo, make good teammates too. Pokemon that can set up Stealth Rock, such as Drilbur or Ferroseed, help Spearow get a KO more easily. Knock Off users such as Pawniard and Mienfoo can weaken the for by removing their item while dealing damage, and also helps Spearow to pick off foes. Ground-types that beat the Electric-types that trouble Spearow, such as Diglett and Hippopotas, are good teammates as well, especially Diglett, as it traps and beats the Pokemon that trouble Spearow after it U-turns out. Other U-turn or Volt Switch users can form the VoltTurn combination with Spearow, and are therefore good partners too, especially slow ones such as Chinchou, as they can grant a safe switch in for Spearow.

Other Options
=============
Heat Wave allows Spearow to OHKO Ferroseed after Stealth Rock. If you opt to use Heat Wave, it is recommended that you use a spread of 196 Atk / 188 SpA / 116 Spe to maximize Spearow's offenses. However, Drill Run has better power and coverage, and Spearow has quite low Special Attack. Roost can be used to provide reliable recovery for Spearow, but it isn't very good because Spearow is very frail. Tailwind can be used as a support move that can help teammates to get a Speed boost, but the effect is only temporary and Spearow is too frail to set it up in most situations.
Checks and Counters
===================
**Status**: Like most other physical attackers, any form of status will bring Spearow to its end, because Toxic poison deals increased damage every turn, paralysis leaves Spearow outsped by almost every Pokemon in the tier, allowing foes to KO it slightly easy because of its frailty, and burn makes all of its moves weak, making it unable to hinder walls.
**Rock-types**: Rock-types such as Archen and Tirtouga can take any hit Spearow throws at them and then proceed to OHKO Spearow with one of their STAB attacks.
**Steel-types**: Steel-types such as Pawniard, Choice Scarf Magnemite, and Ferroseed can usually take a hit from Spearow and cripple it with one of their moves after, though the former two need to be wary of Drill Run.
**Electric-types**: Electric-types such as Elekid and Blitzle can outspeed Spearow and beat it with their STAB attacks, though they cannot reliably switch in at all.
**Stealth Rock**: As Stealth Rock removes 1/4 of Spearow's health when it comes in, its switch-ins will be limited, allowing members of the opposing team to pick it off with an attack.
**Powerful Priority**: Any powerful priority move, such as Fletchling's Acrobatics and Pawniard's Sucker Punch can take out Spearow, because it is extremely frail.
**Faster Pokemon**: Faster Pokemon, such as Abra or Archen, can outspeed Spearow and, in most situations, OHKO Spearow directly
