Project SV OU - The Next Best Thing (The Indigo Disk Edition) Round 12: Iron Valiant

Grassy Terrain + Calm Mind Stored Power sweeper
Primarina (F) @ Grassy Seed
Ability : Liquid Voice
Tera Type : Steel / Poison
EVs : 80 HP / 252 Def / 176 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs : 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Stored Power
- Draining Kiss / Moonblast
- Hyper Voice / Ice Beam / Shadow Ball / Rest

Draining Kiss allows Primarina to recover itself in addition to the Grassy Terrain, while Moonblast is a stronger STAB. Hyper Voice is a great STAB that hits Pokemon behind Substitute like Iron Boulder or Iron Moth while improving matchups against Steel-types such as Gholdengo, Corviknight, and Heatran. Alternatively, Ice Beam can be used for a better matchup against Ground, like Great Tusk notably, Grass such as Meowscadra, Rillaboom, and Serperior, and Flying-types, while Shadow Ball hits effectively Gholdengo and Psychic-types like Hatterene and Galarian Slowking. Rest is an option to sustain itself in the late game. The spread allows it to outspeed Adamant Kingambit. Tera Poison is a great defensive Tera, allowing Primarina to get rid of its weaknesses to Grass, Poison and Electric-type moves, whereas with Tera Steel, Primarina gains valuable resistances to Fairy, Dragon, Rock for Stealth Rock damage, and Ice-type moves, and an immunity to Poison-type moves, to Toxic, and to Toxic Spikes, in exchange for weaknesses to Fire, Ground and Fighting-type moves.

This set of Primarina only works with Grassy Terrain so Rillaboom is a compulsory teammate for it. Fire, Ground, and Fighting-type will help Primarina to hit Steel-types effectively, while hazards setters and hazards removers will help Primarina respectively to weaken its counters and to get rid of entry hazards. Moreover, wallbreakers are also good teammates to weaken opposite Pokemon.

I've used Choice Scarf Primarina and it did surprisingly well. You reach 360 Speed that means you outspeed a lot of common threats if they don't run a +Speed Nature.
(Serp, Darkrai, Latios and Latias, Walking Wake, Meowscarada, Kyurem, Landorus T etc.)
Flip Turn is there to pivot in and out, that's even more effective on this fast Prim.
Tera doesn't really matter but you can boost your damage output even more.
You can run both abilities BUT it's cool to hit through Substitute so I prefer Liquid Voice.
You could also run a suprise Tera like idk Electric and annoy your opponents with Tera Blast.
Credits to NotDaProGamer for teaching me how to use those beautiful moving sprites :)

Ability: Liquid Voice / Torrent
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Moonblast
- Psychic Noise
- Rest
- Sleep Talk / Substitute

This Primarina is designed to beat stall teams with the combination of a strong STAB in Moonblast and the disruption provided by Psychic Noise. Liquid Voice is the preferred ability so Prima can hit Steels and Grounds like Corviknight and Gliscor much harder. Torrent is an option if your team is afraid of Water Absorb Clodsire and/or Toxapex. Tera Ghost allows Primarina to 1v1 non T-wave Blisseys while also neutralizing the threat of Iron Defense + Body Press mons. The set has maximum offensive investment so Primarina can more easily muscle through stall teams. Rest and Leftovers give Primarina more longevity. Sleep Talk can give you a few extra Psychic Noise PP while Substitute can be run to avoid status. If running Substitute, I would probably use a bulkier spread that is able to avoid having your sub broken by Clodsire's Earthquake.

While weak in terms of attack power, this set allows you to trap your opponent into a bad match up. Chilling Water is there to prevent physical attackers from setting up as easily. Draining Kiss to recover hp. Whirlpool to trap opponents. Flip Turn for a slow pivot, and allows your other mons to come in safely after Primarina tanks an attack. Tera Steel for immunity to poison, and resists grass. Could also go with Tera Ground for immunity to Electric and resists poison, is weak to grass however.

Offensive Single Screener Primarina

Primarina @ Light Clay
Ability: Liquid Voice
Tera Type: Steel/Water/Fairy
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Moonblast
- Alluring Voice
- Reflect/Light Screen
- Flip Turn

Here we have a different attempt to an offensive set with screens because we only run only Reflect OR Light Screen, depending on your teammates.
Moonblast and Alluring Voice (+ Liquid Voice that turns it into a Water move) is the STAB combination chosen. In particalar, Alluring Voice is useful to get past opposing Substitutes while statusing the opponent's threat, punishing set-up pokemons that may try to boost their own stats (before or after a screen). With Liquid Voice we can use Moonblast (that has a good base power as well as a good secondary effect) and a Water sound-based move that bypasses Substitutes without running two Fairy moves at once.
Flip Turn is here to keep the momentum, and I opt for a speedish set in order to outspeed some defensive threats when switching out before taking unnecessary damage. The choice between Reflect or Light Screen is entirely up to you, and Light Clay.
Having only one screen may be used to your advantage because the opponent may think that you still have the other one, but then you can surprise it with your 4th move that can be a STAB move or Flip Turn to keep the momentum.

Tera type is really up to you and it is not really mandatory to make this Primarina useful.

Wanted to give special credits to others & especially E, a decent set overall (get reck'd stall)!!

Stored Power Grassy Seed Deo-S
1708564162144.png

Deoxys-Speed @ Grassy Seed
Ability: Pressure
Tera Type: Steel / Fighting
EVs: 248 HP / 152 Def / 52 SpA / 56 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stored Power
- Focus Blast / Tera Blast
- Calm Mind
- Recover

Deoxys-S has fantastic speed and surprisingly sufficient bulk that allow it to pull off Stored Power sweeper set very effectively. Deo-S is usually very weak to priority attackers, but the +1 boost to Defense from Grassy Seed lets Deoxys-S survive some crazy stuff like max Supreme Overlord Kingambit's Sucker Punch and Tera Normal Dragonite's Extremespeed. Steel is the preferred Tera type to avoid Toxic from the likes of Slowking-Galar. Steel is also a fantastic defensive type for a sweeper, generally speaking. Tera Fighting with or without Tera Blast is an option if you are particularly afraid of Kingambit or Focus Blast missing. 56 Speed EVs with a Timid nature allow Deo-S to outspeed up through +1 Speed max Speed Great Tusk. 52 SpA EVs allow Deo-S to hit some important damage thresholds with one or two Calm Mind Boosts (see calcs below). The rest of the EVs are put into HP, then Defense to give Deo-S the most bulk possible. The moveset is pretty straightforward for a Stored Power sweeper. Focus Blast/Tera Blast achieves great coverage against most of the relevant Pokémon in the tier. Calm Mind has great synergy with Stored Power, and Recover alongside the defensive boosts grant Deo-S even more opportunities to click Calm Mind/Stored Power. The sheer number of Pokémon this set destroys with two CM boosts is amazing, and it has the bulk to get +2 even against more offensive teams. The set obviously requires Grassy Terrain support from Rillaboom, but Rillaboom is a great partner for Deo-S as it can weaken bulky Steels and G-Slowking to help make Deo-S's life easier.

- Protect

- Cosmic Power
- Night Shade/Knock Off
Somebody messaged me saying that when they saw pressure on Deo-S, they thought I would submit a pp stalling set, and they were 100% correct. This is a somewhat customizable set mind you.
Protect and Cosmic Power are essentials, as Protect allows Deoxys to squeeze out more lefties recovery while also pp stalling the opponent, while cosmic power means you can start taking boosted hits, but also not compromising on moveslots like id+amnesia would.
The ev spread of 164 speed and timid means you outrun +1 iron moth and ogerpon, while the rest is dumped into bulk. Substitute is standard as you can live at least the hit to get your protect active again, and if you get cosmic power boosts, you can start dealing damage to the opponent. Night shade allows for consistent damage and is the preffered option.
You can also use pain split or knock off if you choose to. Pain split can be annoying for the opponent and means that lefties recovery is not your only source of recovery. Due to Deo-S' low HP stat, that means you are most likely to get the HP increase from the exchange. Knock Off allows for item disruption and can mean that hazard damage or lefties recovery loss will be felt.
Finally, the tera type can be optimized to your opponent. Tera dark is the more usual option as you now resist dark and ghost type moves, though you do retain your weakness to bug. Tera Normal is an interesting option as you are now immune to ghost type moves, meaning you can set up on something like a ghold. Finally, Tera fighting removes your dark and bug weaknesses and replaces them with resistances.
Sorry for the long explanation, I just am very enthusiastic about this set. It is extremely customizable and can fit onto a lot of playstyles.

Nasty Plot Deoxys-Speed (cleaner Deoxys-Speed)

Tera Type: Electric / Fighting
EVs: 248 HP / 204 SpA / 56 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Shadow Ball
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt

Here we have a different attempt to make good use of the majestic natural Spe stat of this pokemon, alongside middling SpA but with Nasty Plot to fix this particular issue. Due to its speed, Deoxys forces a lot of switch-outs, so you can use Nasty Plot to reach good offensive presence, enough to OHKO weakened threats.
BoltBeam combination is here for coverage, alongside Shadow Ball that hits Ghosts and Psychic-type pokemons supereffectively, and sometimes the latter move can fish some useful drops.
I picked special moves because of Intimidate, despite physical moves being really good (i.e. Knock Off).

Since Deoxys is already fast, Timid nature + 56 Spe EVs are enough to outspeed even some Scarfers*, and the remaining EVs are put into HP (that are low) and SpA to gain some offensive presence even without boosts.
* With this spread you reach 451 Spe points, enough to speed tie with 252 Spe EVs Sandy Shocks and Thundurus-T at +1 and with neutral nature on Spe.

Tera Electric to avoid being paralysed and to boost Thunderbolt, whereas Tera Fighting if you expect more Sucker Punches.
Life Orb is here to gain some extra offensive presence.

ngl this set is pretty standard in what it does. it gets psychic stab and then any three moves of coverage you want. like, you can threaten literally everything you want. modest for more power, but timid is for if you dont want to be speed crept. tera types either counter sucker punch, counter extreme speed, or just more power

EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature

This set is pretty simple: You get on the battlefield. You click Meteor Beam. You do a lot of damage or get a kill. You click any other move that's now +1.
The tera is used to resist those Sucker Punches from Kingambit.
Focus Blast or Superpower are there to hit Kingambit and other Pokémon that resist your STAB.
The last move slot is pretty customizable. Coverage is nice and Trick can be used to give opposing Pokémon a "useless" Power Herb (or just no item if the power herb is already consumed) and get something nice in return. Knock Off is always a solid option.

With a scarf and a postive speed nature, Deo-S reaches 756 speed. This lets it out speeds most +2 mons and some +3 mons too. Its faster then adamant :Barraskewda: in rain, +2 :Roaring Moon:, +2 :Volcarona: , Adamant +3 :Gouging Fire:, and more. It's a revenge killer, coming into boosted threats to KO or cripple them. Mixed to deal with :Volcarona: and Calm Minders after SpD boosts. Trick to cripple walls or lock boosted sweepers into their boosting moves. Superpower to complement psychic stab and hit :Roaring Moon:. Knock Off is really useful for removing items, but Rock Slide can be used instead to hit :Volcarona:, :Gouging Fire:, and :Dragonite:. Tera Fighting to boost superpower and resist sucker punch. Tera Water to better take :Barraskewda:'s aqua jet. Tera Ghost to get immune to espeed.
