[OVERVIEW]
Water
========
* Swampert's typing leaves it with only one weakness and a handy immunity to Electric-type attacks, while also being able to pressure Electric-types with Earthquake.
* Swampert is extremely bulky and is able to take most hits, which makes it a great addition to most Water teams.
* Swampert has access to Stealth Rock, which it can set up with ease because of its great bulk and typing.
* It also has excellent utility moves such as Toxic, Scald, and especially Roar; Roar Swampert isn't setup bait for setup sweepers such as Mega Pinsir and Salamence.
* Swampert is 4x weak to common Grass-type attacks, which sometimes makes setting up Stealth Rock extremely difficult.
* Swampert's offenses aren't particularly terrible, but without any investment, it needs to rely on burns from Scald to maintain an offensive presence.
* Swampert doesn't have any reliable recovery outside of Leftovers, which means it can be worn down easily.

Moves
========
* Stealth Rock allows Swampert to pressure Fire-, Flying-, and Ice-types such as Mega Charizard Y, Zapdos, and Weavile while also helping its teammates pick up crucial KOs.
* Scald is mainly used for its nice chance to burn so that Swampert can wear down bulky Pokemon such as Mega Scizor and Mandibuzz.
* Earthquake is used to hit Electric-types such as Lanturn and Magnezone.
* Roar forces out setup sweepers such as Salamence and Mega Pinsir.
* Toxic can be used over Roar to cripple walls such as Zapdos and Porygon2, but ultimately, Swampert wants the ability to force out setup sweepers.
Set Details
========
* Maximum Defense investment along with a Relaxed nature bolsters Swampert's Defense.
* Maximum HP investment is used to make Swampert as bulky as possible.
* Torrent is chosen over Damp to boost Scald's power if Swampert is at 1/3 of its health.
* Leftovers allows Swampert to recover a bit of its health each turn.
Usage Tips
========
* Usually, it is best to set up Stealth Rock as early as possible because it pressures Fire-, Flying-, and Bug-types, such as Mega Charizard Y, Zapdos, and Mega Pinsir.
* Preserve Swampert's health,as it is often needed to check physical attackers such as Mega Pinsir, Kyurem-B, and Excadrill.
* Avoid status, especially poison and burn, as poison slowly wears down Swampert, while burn negates its Leftovers recovery.
* Use Roar to force out setup sweepers such as Mega Pinsir and Salamence.
* Toxic should be used to cripple walls such as Porygon2 and Zapdos.
* Be wary of Knock Off, as Swampert lacks recovery outside of Leftovers.
* If Stealth Rock is up, try using Roar on a predicted double switch, as it sometimes allows Swampert to force in Flying-, Bug-, Fire-types.
* Use Scald to cripple physical attackers such as Scizor and Landorus-T.
Team Options
========
* Mantine is a great partner for Swampert, as it can take most Grass-type attacks with ease, while Swampert can take Electric- and Rock-type attacks with ease.
* Toxapex is also able to check Grass-types with ease. Toxapex and Mantine can also use Haze to stop setup sweepers such as Volcarona and Serperior.
* Gyarados can check Grass-types such as Mega Venusaur and Tapu Bulu with Supersonic Skystrike, while Swampert can set up Stealth Rock for Gyarados.
* Greninja has a plethora of coverage moves such as Ice Beam and Gunk Shot to deal with Grass-types like Tapu Bulu and Breloom. Greninja also has U-turn, which allows Swampert to be brought in safely. Swampert in return sets up Stealth Rock, which allows Greninja to always OHKO Dragonite and Zapdos with Ice Beam.
* Mega Slowbro can wall physical attackers that Swampert struggles against, namely Choice Band Excadrill. Swampert in return provides an immunity to Electric-type attacks.
* Keldeo is a good teammate because it can deal with Normal- and Steel-types such as Chansey and Ferrothorn that wall Swampert.
* Mega Sharpedo and Mega Gyarados can deal with bulky Psychic-types such as Mew and Slowbro, which wall Swampert. Swampert in return sets up Stealth Rock, making it much easier to sweep.
* Swampert is weak to Grass-types such as Mega Venusaur and Tapu Bulu, so Manaphy is a great partner, as it can check Mega Venusaur and Tapu Bulu with Psychic and Ice Beam.
* Choice Specs Volcanion can be used to check majority of Grass-types with its STAB Fire-type attacks. Swampert in return can set up Stealth Rock to help Volcanion net certain KOs.
* Choice Band Azumarill can revenge kill powerful threats such as Excadrill and Volcarona. Sap Sipper Azumarill is also a decent option because it is immune to Grass-type attacks.
* Tapu Fini can use Defog and protect Swampert from status with Misty Terrain while also dealing with powerful special attackers such as Hydregion and Latios.
[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
* Yawn can be used over Roar to possibly put a foe to sleep or to force a foe out, but ultimately, Roar is better because it always forces the foe out.
* Ice Beam can be used over Roar as an alternative method to deal setup sweepers such as Mega Pinsir, Landorus-T, and Salamence, while also dealing a bit of damage to Grass-types. However, Ice Beam does not deal with certain setup sweepers such as Volcarona and Mega Scizor.
Checks and Counters
===================
**Grass-types**: Grass-types such as Mega Venusaur, Tapu Bulu, and Serperior can take any of Swampert's attacks and OHKO it with their Grass-type attacks.
**Dragon-types**: Dragon-types such as Latios, Latias, and Hydreigon take minimal damage from Swampert's attacks and deal massive damage with their Dragon-type attacks. However, weakened Dragon-types need to be wary of Ice Beam.
**Mega Charizard Y**: Mega Charizard Y can switch into Swampert with ease, taking minimal damage from Scald due to it summoning sun. Mega Charizard Y can also OHKO Swampert with Solar Beam. However, Mega Charizard Y does not like switching into Stealth Rock multiple times.
**Grass-type coverage**: Giga Drain Volcarona, Grass Knot Alolan Raichu, and other Pokemon with Grass-type coverage can OHKO Swampert with ease. However, most Pokemon with Grass-type coverage cannot switch in safely.
**Gliscor**: Gliscor takes minimal damage from Scald and can either use Toxic on Swampert or use Knock Off to get rid of its Leftovers. However, Gliscor must watch out for the occasional Ice Beam.
**Wallbreakers**: Wallbreakers such as Landorus, Diggersby, and Meloetta all take at least one hit from Swampert and can 2HKO it with their powerful attacks.
**Status**: Pokemon such as Mew and Zapdos cripple Swampert with status, as Swampert is vulnerable to both burn and poison because burn negates its Leftovers recovery, while poison slowly wears it down.
**Knock Off**: Swampert lacks recovery outside of Leftovers, so without it,(AC) Swampert is extremely easy to wear down.
