[OVERVIEW]
Swanna is a viable Defogger due to its nice Speed tier, allowing it to outspeed base 95 Speed Pokemon such as Jynx, as well as everything slower, including Sawk and Lilligant. Its secondary Water typing allows it to break past common answers to Flying-type moves such as Steelix. Unfortunately, Swanna's solid defensive typing is limited by its poor bulk and weakness to Stealth Rock, which leave it unable to switch into attacks, meaning it can't be relied upon for Defog support throughout the match. It can also be played around very easily, notably giving the foe a free switch when using Roost. Swanna faces competition with other entry hazard removers such as Shiftry and Skuntank, and even those that share its typing, such as Mantine and Pelipper, which are bulkier. Offensively, Swanna faces competition from more powerful Water-type and Flying-types such as Samurott, Vivillon, and Swellow.

Moves
========
Scald is Swanna's most reliable STAB move and comes with a 30% chance to burn the foe, which threatens physical attackers that may try to come in. Hurricane is the Swanna's secondary STAB move, giving it good neutral coverage and notably hitting Grass-types super effectively. Defog provides entry hazard control for the team and is one of the main reasons to consider using Swanna in the first place. Roost provides longevity, which its important due to Life Orb recoil and Stealth Rock wearing Swanna down.
Set Details
========
Maximum Speed investment allows Swanna to outpace positive-natured base 95 Speed Pokemon such as Jynx, as well as everything slower including Sawk, Mesprit, and Lilligant. Maximum Special Attack investment alongside Life Orb make Swanna as powerful as possible. Hydration is the best ability Swanna can run, allowing it to cure any status problem at the end of the turn if rain is up.
Usage Tips
========
Bring Swanna in for free, whether it be on double switches or off a teammate's U-turn, Baton Pass, or Volt Switch, as it cannot take hits well. However, if necessary, it can come in on weaker, resisted attacks such as Bullet Punch and Scald or a predicted non-attacking move such as Taunt, but not on stronger resisted attacks such as Sawk's Close Combat. You can also bring it against Steelix and Swords Dance Samurott because they only pack moves that Swanna resists. Be careful when you want to clear entry hazards if the opponent has a Pokemon that can take advantage of Defog, such as Pawniard or Malamar. Roost could be used to give Swanna free recovery if you predict a switch, but be aware that the opponent can bring a threat for free as Swanna heals up. When Swanna needs to attack, Scald is typically the best move to use due to its 30% chance to burn the foe and its perfect accuracy. Hurricane should be used only if absolutely necessary, as its low accuracy can put Swanna in a bad spot if it misses.
Team Options
========
Swanna fits on offensive teams that need a fast Defogger without losing offensive momentum. Offensive threats that are weak to Stealth Rock such as Archeops and Fire-types such as Magmortar and Pyroar appreciate Swanna's support. Grass-types such as Cacturne and Vileplume have great synergy with Swanna, being able to check Electric-types such as Lanturn, Raichu, Zebstrika, and Rotom for it while Swanna removes Grass- and Ground-types for them. Ground-types such as Rhydon, Golurk, and Torterra are immune to Electric moves and can very easily take Rock-type moves as well, as can Fighting-types such as Gurdurr and Sawk, while Swanna can get rid of bulky Grass-types such as Vileplume for them. Sturdy and Focus Sash users such as Sawk and Jynx are great partners because Swanna can reliably clear the field of entry hazards as to let them survive an otherwise fatal hit.

Other Options
=============
Swanna can run Rain Dance to make use of a perfectly accurate Hurricane and a boosted Scald. Such a set can be used on full rain teams, but it also works fine on teams that just want a more offensive check to Steelix with a really nice STAB combination. Rest can also be run over Roost on this set, as Hydration will make Swanna up from its self-induced sleep. Tailwind is another option to not only boost Swanna's Speed but also give a temporary Speed boost to its teammates. Substitute paired with Toxic Spikes support could be used to stall out teams, with Substitute preventing any status problem for Swanna and Roost giving Swanna longevity to repeatedly set up Substitutes while the foe slowly is worn down by the poison.
Checks and Counters
===================
**Special Walls**: Altaria, Mantine, Malamar, and Mega Audino can take all of Swanna's attacks and cripple it with any status ailment. Malamar in particular can use Swanna as setup bait because Hurricane does not even 2HKO it.
**Electric-types**: Electric-types such as Rotom, Raichu, and Electivire can switch into Swanna's Hurricane and KO it back with their STAB attacks.
**Lanturn**: Lanturn is a full counter to Swanna, resisting both of Swanna's STAB moves and being able to OHKO it back.
**Revenge Killers**: Faster Pokemon such as Tauros, Pyroar, Swellow, and Archeops can easily revenge kill Swanna due to its frailty.
**Stealth Rock**: Although Swanna can remove it, Stealth Rock takes away 25% of its health every time it switches in, and Swanna is forced to use Defog afterwards. It also forces Swanna to use Roost frequently, which the opponent can take advantage of by bringing in a check to Swanna for free.
