Monotype Team Poison

Poison-type team yada-yada. Weak against Psychic and Ground. Absorbs Toxic Spikes when enters the field yada-yada. Not poisoning unless the opponent has Corrosion. Let's make it a team!

Gengar @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Cursed Body
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Trick
- Destiny Bond
- Sludge Wave
- Shadow Ball

Gengar is a way to cripple stall Pokémon using trick associated with Choice Scarf. In case this is not necessary Gengar can take advantage of its enhacewd speed in conjunction with its Special Attack to use Sludge Wave or Shadow Ball as STABS. Destiny Bond allows Gengar to take at least when Pokémon with it when its frail body fails it.

Muk-Alola @ Assault Vest
Ability: Poison Touch
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpA
Brave Nature
- Pursuit
- Shadow Sneak
- Clear Smog
- Knock Off

Alolan-Muk is an easy choice. Thanks to its typing it has an immunity to Poison's most common weakness, Psychic and has acess to a STAB Pursuit and Knock of which allow it to heabily damage these types and remove items respectively. Shadow Sneak is a priority move that also punishes Psychic types and Clear Smog removes stat buffs and is also a Poison STAB.

Crobat @ Black Sludge
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Roost
- Defog
- U-turn
- Brave Bird

Crobat finds a spot in this team as a defogger, so entry hazzards can be dealt with. Since it is a very frail, it uses Roost and Black Sludge to recover some hit points. U-Turn allows Crobat to exit dxangeorus situations and Brave Bird is its main attack, thanks to its STAB. Infiltrator is the best option when compared with Inner Focus.

Toxapex @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Baneful Bunker
- Recover
- Haze
- Scald

Toxapex is the physical defense of the team. Thanks to its bulk and defense it can tank some attacks and answer with Scald or Haze to remove buffs. Recover raises its durability especially when combined with Baneful Bunker. Black Sludge adds to its resilience as does Regenerator.

Nihilego @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Thunderbolt
- Power Gem
- Gunk Shot

Nihilego is the offensive threat of the team. Thanks to Choice Scarf its gains a respectable speed and with its attack boosted by Beast Boost, it reaches the status of a glass cannon. Its moves were chosen for damage and coverage. The combination of Hidden Power Ice and Thunderbolt hits the majority of Pokémon for neutral damage and Power Gem and Gunk Shot are STABS.

Venusaur @ Venusaurite
Ability: Chlorophyll
Happiness: 0
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Synthesis
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Sludge Bomb
- Giga Drain

Venusaur is another special attacker of the team and an all purpose counter. Thanks to Thick Fat it resists its main weaknesses of Ice and Fire-Types and Giga Drain can inflict heavy damage on Earthquake STABers. Hidden Power Fire hits Steel and Ice tyoes hard and Sludge Bomb is a Poison-type STAB and Synthesis allows Venusaur to be on the field for more turns.

Hey there! Most of your team is good, but I have a few suggestions for optimizing the sets that you're using here to improve your success.

First off, you have two Choice Scarf users. On slower teams, this may be viable, but both Nihilego and Gengar are more than fast enough to not rely on a second Choice Scarf user for support. At the same time, you lack a strong wallbreaker to help enable a late-game sweep. As a result, I suggest dropping Gengar for Nidoking. Nidoking is a fantastic wallbreaker that pressures both Flying and Steel with its powerful Sheer Force-boosted moves. Right now, Steel teams are basically unbeatable for you, and Flying teams are pretty hard even with Nihilego's help. Nidoking should help these two matchups out a lot. Alolan Muk is more than enough to keep the Psychic matchup easy, so losing Gengar doesn't hurt that much.

Speaking of Nihilego, Gunk Shot really doesn't work on it because Nihilego has a horrible 53 Attack. It has access to Sludge Wave, which is a special attack that does work and is more than capable of sweeping many teams. Poison teams don't actually have many Poison-type attacks, so it's important to run Sludge Wave instead of Gunk Shot here for your team. To reflect this change, the EV spread should move the 4 Attack EVs to Defense, and Nihilego should then run a Timid nature. Your team currently also lacks Stealth Rock. Because we added Nidoking, which has Ice Beam and Thunderbolt for Flying, you can now drop Thunderbolt for Stealth Rock, and this should help even more for Flying and the utility is generally a must on every team.

On Toxapex, Baneful Bunker is used to beat Normal teams by scouting Diggersby's attack and making the appropriate move after seeing what it locks into. However, for this strategy to work, you need Toxic Spikes to cripple the Normal team. Toxic Spikes is also incredibly useful for beating Ground, Poison, Fairy, and many other matchups. While useful, Haze is the most expendable move on this set, and I recommend dropping Haze for Toxic Spikes. This may seem to open you up to setup sweepers, but most setup sweepers that Toxapex handles can be checked with other options.

For Alolan Muk, it really wants to be max HP and Special Defense to be as bulky as possible. Damage is nice but if Alolan Muk has no Special Defense investment, it takes way too much damage and won't be as capable of beating Psychic. Also, Shadow Sneak doesn't actually do much for Alolan Muk because it's so weak. Instead, having a strong Poison-type STAB attack helps for pressuring Fairy-types, since Clear Smog is used for utility instead of damage. I think you should try using Poison Jab instead of Shadow Sneak. Poison Jab does more than just damage, though, it's Alolan Muk's best way of spreading poison status around.

One of Crobat's advantages is how blistering fast it is. While Attack EVs are tempting to make it stronger, Crobat really wants to have Speed to act before Pokemon like Greninja. I would just move all 252 of the Attack EVs into Speed. Crobat still deals great damage because Brave Bird's BP is 120, but it can actually attack before Pokemon like Greninja and Latios now.

Finally, for Mega Venusaur, it's way too weak and slow for it to want to invest into Special Attack and Speed. Like you said, it's an all-purpose counter. To do this, it needs to be bulky, and thus, I recommend running a 164 HP / 252 SpD+ / 92 Spe spread. This lets Mega Venusaur actually take on Landorus and still outspeeds even Jolly Azumarill, which is a huge threat to Poison teams. Mega Venusaur's natural damage is still good. However, if it can't take hits, it can't attack, so it's important to make sure Mega Venusaur has defensive investment.

I hope this helps and good luck with the team!
