INTRO

Hello, I am Asuya, and this is the 5th part of the rmt series "Banned Chronicles", I am joining njnp and Snowtop on their endeavor to post quality rmt’s during our banned period.
This is a team originally created by njnp, cosine180 and Snowtop in which I added the lord's touch. They created a bulky offense that let volcanion flourish as much as possible when it was first released. The build is with a common core volcanion and banded ttar to punish bulky teams/stalls and They added Mega Manectric to pressure offense. Hope You Enjoy This RMT!

THE TEAM IN-DEPTH

manectric-mega.gif

Manectric-Mega @ Manectite
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 Def
- Volt Switch
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Flamethrower
- Thunderbolt

Overview
Although Manectric isn't as used anymore, it's still a big threat to a lot of teams. It has perfect coverage and is an amazing offense breaker as it's faster than most things in the metagame and has just enough spatk to clean a lot of offensive teams. It also is part of the VoltTurn core to bring breakers like Band TTar and Volcanion in. Manectric is one of the few mon’s that is able to handle mon’s like opposing torn-t’s and weavile. Manectric’s intimidate and being able to ohko annoying bulky things like ferro and scizor is certainly why I still respect it.

tangrowth.gif

Tangrowth @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 216 Def / 44 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Leaf Storm
- Knock Off
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Sleep Powder

Overview
Tangrowth is one of the best mon’s in the tier and it's not even ou. Rh Tangrowth checks most physical attackers in the tier like Excadrill, Lopunny, Landorus, Bisharp and Breloom. It prevents Ferrothorn from setting up spikes or Scizor from sding with hp fire and has great utility moves in Knock Off and Sleep Powder. Tangrowth helps in the 50/50’s with keldeo and volcanion if torn-t goes down sometime during the match. Tang is great with Mega Mane because it can pressure out mon’s gastrodon, quag, and seismitoad mon’s that completely wall manectric.

tornadus-therian.gif

Tornadus-Therian @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hurricane
- Knock Off
- Heat Wave
- U-turn

Overview
Torn-T’s objective on this team is very simple, switch into shit just like tangrowth just on the spd side. Torn is generally the main switch into the lati twins, mega alakazam, and gengar. It posses the great ability too have an amazing move pool that coverages so much. Being able to handle mons like keldeo and still pressure mons like chansey and amoongus is a great trait. The max hp and max speed is pretty standard at least that’s what I always use and even though lo is gaining more usage I still love using this bulky mon that is able to take attacks like opposing mega mantric t bolt’s and magnetons and simple just u turn out to their counter.

excadrill.gif

Excadrill @ Shuca Berry
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Rapid Spin
- Stealth Rock
- Iron Head

Overview
Excadrill is the main revenger for the team to pick off sweeping threats that tangrowth can’t handle like dd char x and dd altaria(rarely seen but still deadly)Excadrill is the rock setter of this team which is un-common and cosine called njnp crazy for thinking of this idea but it stuck and we ran with it. The shuca berry on excadrill was originally air balloon but I changed it to shuca berry and it proved to be a better success and even njnp agreed with me. The berry has proved to lure in threats like ep diancie(used on ladder, not tour), opposing sand rush excadrill’s and even bulky grounds things unaware of the fact that we could have risked the flinch because they can't OHKO back. This is also my hazard controller and if I am able to keep hazards off the field vs some stall’s the regenerator core of torn and tangrowth can stall out some stall’s to the point were instead of me struggling they end up clicking that button themselves.

tyranitar.gif

Tyranitar @ Choice Band
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 160 HP / 252 Atk / 96 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Stone Edge
- Crunch
- Pursuit
- Superpower

Overview
Banded Tyranitar is the premier pokemon to pair with volcanion and aids mega manetric as well. Removing manetric counters such as the lati twins and heavily pressuring checks like hippo and clefable. This band ttar is our main way of handling stall and pressuring it alongside volcanion. The ttar evs spread allows it to take 2 draco’s after rocks normally while still outspeeding skarmory so that stone edge 2hko’s. Normally ttar should be the rock handler on this sort of team but njnp does not like his builds unable too break stall.

volcanion.gif

Volcanion @ Mystic Water
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 200 HP / 128 SpA / 180 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 SpA
- Steam Eruption
- Flamethrower
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Earth Power

Overview
Volcanion is the newest pokemon to the universe. It was obviously an ou mon when it was introduced and clearly is still showing why it is. Volcanion’s Sig Move Steam Eruption is pretty much a Hydro Scald with better accuracy. Volcanion also obtained the wonderful ability of water asorb disallowing mons like keldeo and opposing volcanion’s from spamming water moves. This spread was given by cosine180 and allows volcanion to outspeed bulky landot, rotom and max speed jolly bdrum azu. This spread also allows it to barely take a Draco from lati (86 - 101.4%) and to always survive a ScarfTar's edge (82 - 96.2%).

Conclusion
This team is not easy to use and you need longterm thinking skills in order to successfully use the team to figure out the win-con etc. also the teams functionality is maximized with doubles, it can face any type of team thanks to the various cores that it has and the two biggest threats are mmedi(broken) and mgarde, against them you need to form a plan in the preview. Thats generally the case with all teams though you can't just go in blindly with a team and expect it to bring you wins. Hope You Guys Enjoyed and Have A Nice Day!

Yo i saw you use this team today, good team though very cool solid and interesting as well.

Volcanion,i think changing this to a offensive starmie variant would be nice,it helps against your keldeo matchup and it is a great check to waters, thunder bolt, hydro pump, ice beam, rapid spin analytic life orb will be nice as it allows your excadrill to run swords dance or rock slide over rapid spin and as i said earlier its a great way to check/counter water types like keldeo.

Tangrowth,i think that giga over leaf storm is nice so it can have some way of recovery outside of regenator, this is also good so you are able to attack constantly unlike leaf storm.

Thats all for my rate the tean was pretty good and i hope i helped :))) .

@RPZY
That match you've seen wasn't really played well.
Volcanion is overall more functional than Starmie because of its ability which enables it to have a free entry on water typing moves, it also checks Scizor and Ferrothorn and it has a crucial role against MSab Stall being a WoW switchin and another option to deal with that MBrokenMon.
Giga Drain > Leaf Storm is situational but in a hundreds matches I would have need it just one time, you can outstall defensive teams just doing the regenerator game between Tang and TornT.
Im glad you liked the team, feel free to climb the ladder using it [:

Hi, I have been playing with your team and I really like how it works, and from now on I will use Shuca Berry Excadrill over Air Balloon Excadrill in all of my teams lol

After playing with this team, I made some personal changes to it, they are not huge changes, but can work in certain situations

Leftovers over Mystic Water on Volcanion:
Even tho the 1.2 boost in Steam Eruption is nice, I always find it underwhelming in comparision with either Specs or Leftovers. The only real use for Mystic Water is bluff the Choice Specs, which can become important in certain matches, but the 1/16 recovery helps a lot, especially for a relatively bulky mon with a weakness to rocks.

Static over Lightning Rod on Manectric:
When I play with Mega Mane, I always like to run Lightning Rod as long as I have a hard check to Mega Gardevoir, if not, the Static is the way to go.
Having Lightning Rod on pre mega Manectric can be dangerous. If Gardevoir switches in a Volt Switch/TBolt in the turn Manectric mega evolves, since Trace activates before the mega evolution, you will be facing a +1 Mega Gardevoir, which can really make some holes in your team.
I know that switching Gardevoir in so recklessly is ussualy a bad play... but people are really crazy these days, and I don't think you will be using Lightning Rod that often anyways.

Jolly over Adamant on Excadrill:
Even when the Adamant boost is great, having Jolly over it can be more helpful. Having a Jolly nature allows you to outspeed max speed Heatran outside of sand, as well as max speed base 80 mons, while giving you the chance of winning a speed tie against opposing Sand Rush Excadrill.
If you don't care about the speed tie, you could run just 192 speed, that allows you to outspeed Mega Gardevoir before it mega evolves, and outspeed opposing Adamant Excadrill, while having 64 EVs to put in bulk

Overall, this team is really solid anyways, but I think that these changes may help a little :]
