Board Game The Lost Art of Diplomacy - GAME OVER (E/F 2-way draw)

WINTER 1903 BUILDS
Despite all the nasty war and such, there's still plenty of Christmas cheer in Europe this year... it's just unevenly distributed. Amazingly, Turkey is the cheeriest Power despite probably not caring much about Christmas; the Ottomans are usually called the Sick Man of Europe, but they seem to have made a full recovery!

UNIT COMPOSITION CHANGES
Turkey builds an army at Constantinople, and fleets at Ankara and Smyrna
Austria builds an army in Vienna and waives its second build due to a lack of vacant home centers
France builds a fleet in Marseilles
Italy disbands a fleet in Adriatic Sea
Russia disbands a fleet in Armenia and an army in Galicia

It is now Spring 1904. Orders should be submitted to me by Sunday, May 5th, at 9PM PST (GMT-7).

SPRING 1904 MOVES, PART 1
After a positively barnstorming 1903, it seems that each Power is being more careful to cover their bases this time! Except Germany, anyway; there's only so much you can protect from when the full force of the West is bearing down on you.
1714967497383.png

Germany's Sweden fleet has been dislodged. They can retreat to Finland, the Gulf of Bothnia, or disband. I need a retreat order from them in the next 24 hours so I can complete the update.

As a reminder, communication between Powers is prohibited during retreat phases.

SPRING 1904 MOVES, PART 2: BOTHNIAN BOOGALOO
Roses are red, Frenchmen are blue, the Germans went to Bothnia and so too should you!

SUPPLY CENTER CHANGES:
England now occupies Kiel
England now occupies Sweden

It is now Fall 1904. Orders should be submitted to me by Tuesday, May 7th, at 9PM PST (GMT-7). Communication between Powers is once again allowed.

FALL 1904 MOVES, PART 1
Holy shit, this is a funny one. I just about spat out my water when I saw what's going on here in the north. Meanwhile Turkey appears to be repositioning amidst a naval defeat, France is helping Russia reclaim some territory at Austria's expense, and Italy is definitely still alive! They're just doing Italy things, which is to say nothing, but at least they're alive!
1715139493464.png

The following units have been dislodged:
English A Kie (retreat to Ruh, disband)
Austrian A War (retreat to Pru, disband)
Turkish F Tun (forced disband)

England and Austria must submit their retreat orders to me in the next 24 hours; I will finish the update as soon as they've done so. Communication between Powers is currently prohibited.

FALL 1904 MOVES, PART 2: THANKSGIVING BOOGALOO
As we transition from Fall to Winter, quite a few Powers have something to be thankful for! Three of them get new centers, Turkey and Austria haven't stabbed each other, and Italy and Germany are thankful to be alive! Let's have a look at how the board will change ahead of 1905.
1715142496052.png

RETREATS:
English A Kie retreats to Ruh
Austrian A War retreats to Pru

SUPPLY CENTER CHANGES:
England has gained control of Sweden (+1 build)
France has gained control of Tunis (+1 build)
Russia has gained control of Warsaw (+1 build)
Austria has lost control of Warsaw but waived a build last year, therefore they don't need to disband!
Turkey has lost control of Tunis, but they already got blown up in Tunis, which covers their (+1 disband)
Germany has lost control of Sweden (+1 disband)

Poor old Italy, they have nothing to do this winter...

It is now Winter 1904. Build orders should be submitted to me by Wednesday, May 8th, at 9PM PST (GMT-7). Communication between Powers remains prohibited for this phase.

WINTER 1904 BUILDS
Russia got to build, everybody! Be sure to pat them on the back, they've earned it after keeping themselves alive against the entire rest of the board for this long. I must say I'm looking forward to what this year brings; the center of the board is especially nuts, with every Power except Italy within spitting distance of Warsaw!

UNIT COMPOSITION CHANGES:
England builds an army in London
France builds a fleet in Marseilles
Germany disbands a fleet in the Gulf of Bothnia

It is now Spring 1905. Orders should be submitted to me by Friday, May 10th, at 9PM PST (GMT-7). Communication restrictions are lifted.

SPRING 1905 MOVES, PART 1
Russia's shiny new build! It already got blown up! Oh no! Anyway, the Austrian position looks quite decent if bluedoom can hold onto Warsaw... a tall order, to be sure. Meanwhile, France enters Venice in what may be a very temporary gain, England scrambles to keep their units moving forward, and Turkey... meh, nothing to really say there.

The following units have been dislodged:
Austrian A Ven (retreat to Tri, Tus, or disband)
Russian A War (forced disband)

SPRING 1905 MOVES, PART 2: TRIESTE TANGLE-UP
And now we settle the board down for some summer negotiations. Munich and St. Petersburg look to be in interesting positions at the moment... anyway, that's for the players to figure out.

FALL 1905 MOVES, PART 1
Moscow falls, but Russia lives! Sadly, the same can't be said for Germany. The AT gains two crucial supply centers and retakes Venice, but the English and French forces continue their relentless advance, looking to break the line once and for all.

Austria must submit their retreat order to me in the next 24 hours; I will finish the update once they've done so. Communication between Powers is prohibited until otherwise stated.

FALL 1905 MOVES, PART 2: VIENNA VOOGALOO
As the dislodged Austrian army returns to the comfort of their home center, we see a line clearly starting to form across the center of the board. Let's have a look at the gains.

Austrian A Tyr retreats to Vie

SUPPLY CENTER CHANGES:
England gains control of Kiel and Munich, but loses control of St. Petersburg (+1 build)

Germany has lost control of Kiel and Berlin, and they are now eliminated from the game. Dead by Daylight saberslasher11 Good game fellas, I really enjoyed having you on the board. Better luck next time.

It is now Winter 1905. Build orders should be submitted to me by Monday, May 13th, at 9PM PST (GMT-7).

WINTER 1905 BUILDS
Do you guys see a line, clearly running down the middle of the map? I sure do, that's called a stalemate line. Will the alliances hold fast and attempt to break it, or will they take the stalemate for what it is and turn on each other? What opportunities do the janissaries have in the latter case? Let's find out.

SPRING 1906 MOVES
It's all a positioning game now! England mobilizes its remaining forces while the AT scrambles to fill gaps in its front line! Sadly they can't prevent the loss of Vienna, but perhaps they can retake it in the fall with the forces they have on hand?

FALL 1906 MOVES
Ladies and gentlemen, it seems we have a bonafide stab on the cards! Turkey, seemingly coming to the conclusion that his anti-EF axis with Austria is doomed to fail, walks into both of his ally's Balkan holdings! However, in a clear blunder (or perhaps an arrangement?) further north, Russia walks back into Moscow... ruh roh. The bear is stirring. In addition, three armies got blown up! Fun stuff all around.

WINTER 1906 BUILDS
The rich get richer this year, and crazily enough, so do the notoriously poor Russians! Are they back to being a real Power, or will they continue working under whoever promises them survival? If I were them, I'd just go guns blazing at my target of choice with those two armies... good thing I'm GMing instead of that. Also IS THAT A FLEET IN BREST??? Ooh lah lah, Frenchies! What a fashionable choice, the weather up there is amazing this time of year!
1716090777310.png

UNIT COMPOSITION CHANGES:
France builds a fleet in Brest and an army in Marseilles
England builds a fleet in London
Russia builds an army in Moscow
Turkey builds an army in Constantinople
Austria disbands armies in Vienna and Apulia

SPRING 1907 MOVES, PART 1
Anglo-French cooperation continues, as does the now-accelerating destruction of Austria... however, the board makes it quite clear who bluedoom wants to have his centers. A tragic turn of events for a once-major threat to the West. In the meantime, LonelyNess CRUELLY attempts to assassinate the shiny new Russian build for the second time in a row! What a tea-sipping barbarian!
1716262258301.png

The following units have been dislodged:
Russian A StP (retreat to Fin, disband)
Austrian A Bud (forced disband)

Russia should submit their retreat orders to me in the next 24 hours; I will finish the update once they've done so. Communication between Powers is prohibited until this occurs.

SPRING 1907 MOVES, PART 2: DISBAND DOOGALOO
Although it was England who pulled the trigger, it was actually Russia who refused to call an ambulance to save his innocent newborn army build! They share equally in the blame for its murder! Shameful!
1716264120664.png

RETREATS:
Russian A StP (disbanded)

SUPPLY CENTER CHANGES:
England now occupies Vienna and St. Petersburg
Turkey now occupies Budapest

It is now Fall 1907. Powers should submit orders to me by Wednesday, May 22nd, at 9PM PST (GMT-7). Communication is now re-enabled.

GM NOTE: Because Wednesday is a very busy day for me academically, the Fall update may be delayed until Thursday.

FALL 1907 MOVES, PART 1
Look what lies here, the remains of the once-mighty Austrian Empire. Its conquests reconquered, its seas shifted in the favor of others, and its home centers evenly divided between three invaders. Truly a sorry sight to behold.
1716524532547.png

The following units have been dislodged:
Turkish F ION (retreat to Apu, AEG, or disband)

Turkey should submit their retreat orders to me in the next 24 hours; I will finish the update once they've done so. Communication between Powers is now prohibited until further notice.

FALL 1907 MOVES, PART 2: AEGEAN AEOOGALOO
Turkey's fleet has been pushed back, but now that there's no friendly unit in the Adriatic, will they be able to push any further on that front? Austria comes off the board, and Russia is now reduced to one center. Italy is in a curious position now; their home centers are no longer on the front line, so will France's thoughts shift to a stab? Find out after builds!
1716528734332.png

RETREATS:
Turkish F ION (retreated to AEG)

SUPPLY CENTER CHANGES:
England gains control of Vienna, Berlin, and St. Petersburg, but loses control of Munich (+2 builds)
France gains control of Trieste and Munich, but loses control of Berlin (+1 build)
Turkey gains control of Budapest (+1 build)
Russia loses control of St. Petersburg but has already disbanded a unit, so they have no adjustments!

Austria loses control of Vienna, Trieste, and Budapest, and is now eliminated from the game. bluedoom you put up a great fight for many years, I'd hardly call this game a failure for Austria despite how it ended. ggwp

It is now Winter 1907. Build orders should be submitted to me by Friday, May 25th, at 9PM PST (GMT-7).

WINTER 1907 BUILDS
Fleets, fleets, and more fleets! They seem to be getting quite fashionable in the west, even more so than before. The three big players are now clearly defined, and the janissaries may have outlived their usefulness; we're in the endgame now, folks.
1716610747848.png

UNIT COMPOSITION CHANGES:
England builds fleets in Liverpool and Edinburgh
France builds a fleet in Marseilles
Turkey builds an army in Constantinople

It is now Spring 1908. Powers should submit orders to me by Sunday, May 27th, at 9PM PST (GMT-7). Communication between Powers is re-enabled.
