Stall-Breaker Pangoro
pangoro.jpg

Pangoro @ Leftovers
Scrappy ability
76 HP / 252 Atk / 180 Spe
Adamant Nature
-Taunt
-Parting Shot / Toxic
-Knock off
-Drain Punch
This is a dumb set I put together in 2 minutes so bare with me. Basically, this guy is built to handle stall teams by using taunt and then recovering health with drain punch. In theory this thing will work on things that aren't Fairies. I dunno if this thing will still use parting shot well since its aimed at stall teams, but hey, who cares?

Also, can we do mega scizor next? because I have this bordeline Insane set I thought of, and I want to share it with everyone

Pangoro @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Scrappy
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Parting Shot
- Knock Off
- Superpower
- Gunk Shot / Ice Punch

While Choice Scarf might not seem like the best option for Pangoro, it hits just enough Speed to hit the key figure of 354, letting it outspeed a good proportion of the unboosted metagame. This set is designed to take advantage of one of the best moves in the game: Parting Shot. Thanks to the boost from Choice Scarf, it is able to utilise this move more easily against offensive threats in order to safely get a teammate in to take advantage of this window created, and to preserve momentum. The moveset itself is pretty standard fare - even with Jolly and no Choice Band, Pangoro still hits decently hard against most stuff, and can always take advantage of the utility that Knock Off provides. I've slashed Ice Punch with Gunk Shot because it can be used to revenge kill stuff like Landorus-I and Garchomp, and if you predict something like Clefable to switch in you can always Parting Shot to something that threatens it, like Mega Metagross or Gengar; however Gunk Shot still has use in revenge killing things like Mega Gardevoir, and does a lot of damage to Azumarill, Clefable and Mega Altaria on the switch-in if you want to take them out.

Huh? Mega Pokemon don't have any more or less versatility just because they're Mega (with the exception of items) lol, MEvos like Scizor, Xard, Altaria and Sableye have zillions of cool sets and options, defs more than Pangoro who although a cool mon isn't gonna have more than one or two variations that do work. Not all Megas are Beedrill or Sharpedo :v

You can always post it in the creative/underrated sets thread. Of course, I'm not sure if -Clone- stopped updating or if the sets just stopped being particularly good (I really don't feel like going through all 6 of the pages between the last set accepted into the OP and the last post)

Yeah they have cool sets like scizor's baton pass, zard x's stall set, altaria's special set etc. but most of them have been discovered already, and I would like to use more underrated pokemon, like pangoro.

Time for Lure Pangoro!
It's a little gimmicky. Be warned.
Pangoro_XY.gif

Pangoro @ Life Orb
Ability: Scrappy
EVs: 252 Atk / 192 SpA / 60 Spe
Naughty Nature
- Grass Knot
- Superpower
- Knock Off / Ice Punch
- Gunk Shot / Ice Punch / HP Fire
EVs are to OHKO Mega Sableye with Scrappy Superpower, OHKO Quagsire, 2HKO Hippowdon, Mega Swampert and Slowbro, and 2HKO or OHKO all OU-viable Fairies, and if Ice Punch is run, OHKO Lando-T. HP Fire really transcends gimmicky and goes to a whole new level, but it 2HKOs Skarmory. The goal of this set is not to sweep, but to lure in and KO its usual counters with the appropriate coverage move. This set might be a little too gimmicky, and I'm fine if it doesn't get accepted as viable.
Calcs:
192 SpA Life Orb Pangoro Grass Knot (100 BP) vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Mega Slowbro: 211-250 (53.5 - 63.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

Trick Room abuse Pangoro

Pangoro @ Leftovers/ Life Orb
Ability: Iron fist/ Scrappy
EVs: 252 HP /252 Att / 4 Def
IV: 0 Spe
Brave Nature
- Hammer Arm
- Parting Shot
- Knock Off
- Gunk Shot / Facade / taunt

Pangoro's resistances to ghost and 1/4 to dark are appreciated in a trick room team since most TR setters are psychic and ghost types. Hammer arm gets boosted by iron fist and makes you faster during TR. Scrappy can be used to deal with M-Sab but you will need life orb to guarantee the KO after SR. Parting shot helps you be a bulky pivot giving you a slow switch after TR is over so you can bring your TR setter safely and against a weaker opponent, ensuring TR will be set successfully. In addition to this, if Pangoro is low on health he can use PS on the last turn of TR so he will switch first and be saved for later. Gunk shot is for fairies. However facade can be useful if you get burned or need to absorb a burn. If using facade go with scrappy. In addition, taunt can be used to stop status and also to make sure your TR setter is not taunted when you switch to it. Mold Breaker can be used to get taunt and parting shot through magic bounce, clear body and I guess Oblivious. I can see Psychic pokemon w regenerator being good teammates, like slowbro, slowking and reuniclus.

Seems like a decent mon for trick room, but I'm pretty sure hammer arm isn't boosted by iron fist, so you would probably run scrappy.

Yeah, I thought about that. But Clone's kinda is tough on the NO shitty gimmicks rule, and I am pretty sure:
Scizor@Scizorite
Naughty Nature
252 Atk / 188 SpA / 68 Spe
-Bullet Punch
-Knock Off
-Hidden Power Fire
-Roost

this the shittiest gimmick I ever thought of............. oops I spoiled it. U-Turn is laughably better than just 2HKOing Zone,Skarm, and Ferro with HP Fire.

Ferrothorn is pretty much set up fodder for SD mega scizor anyways, and this forum is for sets that are still viable. I don't really think special scizor is viable.

Time for voting!
Here are the entries that you can vote for, remember that you may not vote for your own entry :]
firehusky & Sanger Zonvolt's SubPunch Pangoro
boxofkangaroos's Bulk Up Pangoro
Jaguar360's Bulky Pivot Pangoro
s0me1 b0red's Lure Pangoro
one hitta quitta's Stallbreaker Pangoro
DarkBlazeR's Choice Scarf Pangoro
Panda Monium's Lure Pangoro
felix's Trick Room Pangoro

I'll start off by voting for Jaguar360's Bulky Pivot Pangoro

Jaguar360's Bulky Pivot Pangoro - a really cool set I might want to build around
and firehusky, would it be too much work to make the entries in the "New test subject" post link to each individual post, made by the user who submitted it, describing the entry, similar to the op in the Lower tiered threats thread where each set name links to the post describing it? Its not a big deal but it might make voting/reading the thread easier.
Ok I'll do that right now :]
edit: done

Continuing my long streak of bad sets, I bring to you Assault Vest Chesnaught:
240px-652Chesnaught.png

Chesnaught @ Assault Vest
Ability: Bulletproof
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Drain Punch
- Wood Hammer
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge

The set is designed to take advantage of Chesnaught's access to recovery in Drain Punch as well as its good movepool and natural bulk. While it lacks Conkeldur's priority, slightly harder hitting coverage and ability to absorb status, it makes up for it with better defense, arguably better defensive typing and an extra STAB in Wood Hammer. To show off the defense:

0 Atk Mew Return vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Chesnaught: 62-73 (19.5 - 23%) -- possible 5HKO
0 Atk Mew Return vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Conkeldurr: 77-91 (21.9 - 25.9%) -- 3.7% chance to 4HKO

Chesnaught @ Salac Berry
Ability: Bulletproof Overgrow
EVs: 12 HP / 252 Atk / 244 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Substitute
- Belly Drum
- Drain Punch
- Seed Bomb

Disclaimer: I did not make this set

Sub + Belly Drum Chesnaught is an awesome and very unexpected sweeper. It relies heavily on the advantage of surprise but when it gets set up it is very difficult to stop. Basically you come in on something you wall (e.g bisharp) or something that can't do anything but status you (e.g Rotom-W) or something that outright can't touch you (Ferrothorn) and set a substitute up. Then you can go for a free Belly Drum which at that point will activate your Salac Berry and allow you to sweep with your dual STAB.

Edit: Changed to Overgrow after accidently having Bulletproof.

Chesnaught @ Choice Band
Ability: Bulletproof
EVs: 112 HP / 252 Atk / 144 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Wood Hammer
- Low Kick
- Stone Edge
- Iron Tail

With maximum Attack investment and a Choice Band equipped, Chesnaught reaches a fantastic 516 Attack stat, giving it tremendous firepower. Wood Hammer is Chesnaught's primary STAB attack, being able to OHKO or severely dent most of the metagame. Low Kick hits Steel-types hard, as most of them are fairly heavy. Stone Edge nails Mega Charizard Y, Mega Pinsir, and Talonflame on the switch, while Iron Tail is used to hit Fairy-type Pokemon for super effective damage. I decided to invest 144 EVs into Speed in order to outrun Adamant max Speed Azumarill. 252 EVs were put into Attack to hit as hard as possible, and the remaining EVs were put into HP for extra bulk.

  • 252+ Atk Choice Band Chesnaught Wood Hammer vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Mega Slowbro: 266-314 (67.5 - 79.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
  • 252+ Atk Choice Band Chesnaught Wood Hammer vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Hippowdon: 362-428 (86.1 - 101.9%) -- 50% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
  • 252+ Atk Choice Band Chesnaught Wood Hammer vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Rotom-W: 390-458 (128.2 - 150.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO
  • 252+ Atk Choice Band Chesnaught Wood Hammer vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Alomomola: 470-554 (88 - 103.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
  • -1 252+ Atk Choice Band Chesnaught Wood Hammer vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Landorus-T: 144-171 (37.6 - 44.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
  • 252+ Atk Choice Band Chesnaught Low Kick (120 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Mega Steelix: 218-258 (61.5 - 72.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
  • 252+ Atk Choice Band Chesnaught Low Kick (120 BP) vs. 252 HP / 16+ Def Filter Mega Aggron: 181-216 (52.6 - 62.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
  • 252+ Atk Choice Band Chesnaught Low Kick (120 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Heatran: 390-462 (101 - 119.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO
  • 252+ Atk Choice Band Chesnaught Low Kick (100 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Ferrothorn: 282-332 (80.1 - 94.3%) -- 50% chance to OHKO after 1 layer of Spikes
  • -1 252+ Atk Choice Band Chesnaught Stone Edge vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Gyarados: 176-208 (44.6 - 52.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
  • 252+ Atk Choice Band Chesnaught Stone Edge vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Mandibuzz: 218-258 (51.4 - 60.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
  • 252+ Atk Choice Band Chesnaught Iron Tail vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Clefable: 276-326 (70 - 82.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
  • 252+ Atk Choice Band Chesnaught Iron Tail vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Sylveon: 294-348 (74.6 - 88.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Chesnaught @ Leftovers
Ability: Bulletproof
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Spiky Shield
- Drain Punch
- Super Fang
- Spikes / Leech Seed / Wood Hammer

This is pretty much standard Chesnaught but with a slight twist. Super Fang + Spiky Shield makes for an interesting way to wear down your opponents. Leech Seed is slashed because without Drain Punch, you are walled by Ferro, and Spikes can be pretty important for teams that use this variant of defensive Chesnaught in order to pave the way for other mons to sweep.

Edit: Last slot is entirely dependent on you. If you lack a spike setter, then Spikes work. If you want more recovery, then leech seed works. Wood Hammer is there to not get utterly hardwalled by M-Sab in case your team doesn't pack a M-Sab answer or you don't want to just lose to M-Sab with this mon. Thanks
