Don't Use Mega Gallade

Gallade is the Male Evolution to Kirlia and is the counterpart of Gardevoir. Mega Gallade is often compared a lot to Mega Medicham or Mega Lopunny, and it has it's reasoning. Mega Gallade is a weaker version of Mega Medicham as it has to get Swords Dance to get as powerful; but has a little better speed than Medicham reaching to 350 Speed, speed tying with Latios, Latias, and etc. Mega Gallade is slower than Mega Lopunny, but has a higher attack stat than Lopunny. The major downside with Mega Gallade is its ability being Inner Focus that isn't rarely comes in handy because of players forgetting about it since it's so forgetful. Besides all the issues with Gallade, Gallade has a very vast movepool that can make a surprise out of some players.

Gallade-Mega @ Galladite
Ability: Justified
EVs: 32 HP / 252 Atk / 224 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Shadow Sneak
- Drain Punch
- Zen Headbutt
- Thunder Punch

hits gyara which otherwise walls the set. i'm running adamant to get the ohko (-1 252+ Atk Mega Gallade Thunder Punch vs. 88 HP / 4 Def Gyarados: 348-412 (98.5 - 116.7%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO), and EVs outspeed chomp. you can run jolly on this set but i dont see the point of running tpunch if you cant ohko gyara.

Reserving Bulk Up + Rest Gallade

Gallade @ Galladite
Ability: Justified
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Bulk Up
- Drain Punch
- Knock Off
- Rest

General idea: M-Gallade has a good bulk but suffers a little on the physical side but Bulk Up makes up for the deficit. Rest is preferred over Substitute because it is easily worn down even with the STAB Drain Punch at its disposal due to the meager base power and usually M-Gallade has the bulk to survive for two turns while waking-up on the third outspeeding many opponents with 110 base speed.

EVs spread: max HP lowering SR damage + max speed with a beneficial nature are run to use a Bulk Up as fast as possible.

Damn this is the hottom of the barrel lol

Sub+Bulk Up Mega Gallade

Gallade @ Galladite
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Substitute
- Bulk Up
- Close Combat
- Knock Off

This is its best alternative set IMO, and it functions a lot like Sub+CM Keldeo in that it stallbreals reasonably effectively. The option to run Close Combat and KOff are basically the only things stopping this set from being completely outclassed by Mega Medicham (unlike HJK, CC isn't detrimental to stallbreaking courtesy of Protect), although the power difference between Sub Bulk Up Gallade's CC and Sub Bulk Up Medicham's Drain Punch is still irritatingly small.

252 Atk Mega Gallade Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Shaymin: 235-277 (68.9 - 81.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
240+ Atk Pure Power Mega Medicham Drain Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Shaymin: 222-262 (65.1 - 76.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Anyway, it benefits a little from the extra special bulk and higher speed tier. Over Medicham. Pity its HP is garb. tl;dr don't use Gallade, but if you want to use it either use this set or the standard SD set imo.

Gallade @ Galladite
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Zen Headbutt / Knock Off
- Substitute
- Pain Split

Gallade's a weird mon to try to make use of, seeing as it's pretty much entirely outclassed by Medicham (and Lopunny to an extent). SubSplit is one of the few things that Gallade can pull off without being challenged for the position by another mon. The set is similar to Gengar's old SubSplit set. Zen Headbutt and Close Combat provide decent coverage, hitting most mons neutrally, but Knock Off is a solid option in it's own right. Substitute provides a buffer against revenge killers and status, as well as easing prediction. Pain Split allows Gallade to turn the tables on Pokemon like Slowbro, Landorus-T, Garchomp, Celebi, and other defensive mons that Gallade typically struggles against. By draining it's HP with Substitute, Gallade can steal huge chunks of these Pokemon's HP, thanks to it's own low HP stat, allowing it to break through more easily. This set is best partnered with other Pokemon that struggle against the things mentioned, as it becomes a lot easier to break through them thanks to Gallade's shenanigans.

More flags more fun

Gallade-Mega (M) @ Galladite
Ability: Justified
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Destiny Bond
- Encore
- Will-O-Wisp / Thunder Wave

This just some support set I have used like once.It isn't meant for anything in particular but hitting hard with CC, stop Manaphy if it Tail Glows. Killing something that is a threat to your team and punishing switch ins with a status move. It is really annoying to deal with since it covers so many areas.

Offensive Utility

Gallade (M) @ Galladite
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Will-O-Wisp
- Encore
- Zen Headbutt

Nothing special here but it works fairly well from a brief playtest. The idea is just to maximise Gallade's offensive and defensive utility over the course of the match, rather than using it as a pure sweeper, wallbreaker, or support mon (roles in which it's outclassed nine times out of ten). Max/max EV's maintain a powerful Close Combat and Zen Headbutt. Will-o-wisp cripples common switch-ins, predominantly bulky Grounds, and Encore safeguards against slower stat boosters (notably Manaphy, Clefable), helps stallbreak, and can provide opportunities to come in safely or set-up opportunities for other team members.

Reserving Taunt Mega-Gallade.

Gallade @ Galladite
Ability: Steadfast/Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Taunt
- Zen Headbutt
- Close Combat
- Swords Dance

Taunt allows Mega Gallade to set up against many mons. It stops hippowdon, skarmory, rotom-w, gliscor, chansey, clefable, or any bulky mon in general from getting recovery, giving status, or whirlwinding/roaring out mega gallade when it sets up. U can choose steadfast since u need some speed to outspeed some mons like mega manectric, mega lopunny, etc. Or u can run justified to pose a more threat. Dis set does however like mons that can take care of bulky psychic types like slowbro, celebi which bisharp complements well with.

Toxic Mega Gallade
Gallade-Mega (M) @ Galladite
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Substitute / Taunt / Knock Off
- Toxic
- Close Combat
- Zen Headbutt

While Will-o-Wisp is the status move that stands out for Mega Gallade, Toxic works much better with its offensive typing since STAB Close Combat + Zen Headbutt beats every Steel and Poison type aside from the rare Doublade. Toxic wears down common bulky checks to Gallade, such as Slowbro, Landorus-T and Hippowdown and is complemented by Substitute and Taunt well. Knock Off is useful with Toxic too since it can remove Leftovers and also get that extra coverage on Psychics. The set needs team support to check Clefable, Reuniclus, Gliscor and Mega Sableye since they don't really care about this set too much thanks to their abilities (Ice Punch isn't a bad option on this set, really).

Focus Punch Gallade

Gallade (M) @ Galladite
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Focus Punch
- Substitute
- Encore/Disable
- Knock Off/Pain Split

Focus Punch is a strong move but requires a lot of prediction to work. It is best to start setting up a substitute on something you can outspeed and scout their moves. Encore can help against opponents that try to set up or status you, while disable can help you deal with more offensive mons, the choice of moves depends on what your team can handle but I'd usually go for Encore. After you have limited the opponent's movepool and are in a favorable position you can start firing off Focus Punch. Knock Off is for coverage and is always a useful move. Pain Split could also be used to get some recovery and get more subs up. I wanted to do something a bit different and for what it is worth, people will not be expecting FP and they might not think much of not attacking.

reserving skill swap gallade

Gallade @ Galladite
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Skill Swap
- Close Combat
- Zen Headbutt
- Swords Dance

Good set, especially if Mega Sableye leaves the tier; Skill Swap is pretty much there to deal with Unaware Clefable, but it could also be useful against Pokemon such as Landorus-T and Mega Altaria. I don't think there is much else to add. Knock Off could be used instead of one of the two STABs if you need it.

If M-Sableye leaves the tier, We'll probably get to see more usage out of Mega Gallade with one of his most reliable counters gone. Should be fun to use him on a serious team again should that be the case.

Gallade-Mega @ Galladite
Ability: Justified
EVs: 4 HP/ 252 ATK/ 252 SPE
Adamant Nature
- Shadow Sneak
- Drain Punch
- Zen Headbutt
- Swords Dance

Typical sustain set, set up swords dance when you get the chance and +2 Drain Punch will be healing almost any damage that isn't OHKO'ing you, but what most people underrate is the power of a boosted Shadow Sneak, especially against the competition he's speed-tying against in Gengar and Lati@s, with a boosted Shadow Sneak able to dispatch them without having to gamble on the speed game.

+2 252+ Atk Mega Gallade Shadow Sneak vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Latios: 276-326 (92 - 108.6%) -- 50% chance to OHKO

+2 252+ Atk Mega Gallade Shadow Sneak vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Gengar: 346-408 (133.5 - 157.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

also post note, boosted shadow sneak also dispatches M-Gardevoir, which would normally wall the hell out of Gallade.

+2 252+ Atk Mega Gallade Shadow Sneak vs. 16 HP / 0 Def Mega Gardevoir: 326-384 (116 - 136.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

gallade @ galladite | justified
jolly | 252 atk / 4 def / 252 spe
drain punch | leaf blade | ice punch | swords dance

innovated this set because i wanted the luxury of drain punch, but i also hate bulky waters. at +2 you can get the nasty healing along with killing rotom-w, manaphy, and alomomola. ice punch is a cool move, but it is interchangeable with will-o-wisp which still cripples garchomp and landorus-t. the difference is if you want to hit amoonguss & mega venusaur to an extent v. beating mandibuzz & skarmory which is an annoyance to the type of teams that use gallade.

unaware clefable and mega venusaur wall it, but let's not forget manaphy is gallade's best teammate for a reason. run modest splash plate manaphy with surf or scald / psychic / rain dance / tail glow. the combination is extremely potent. teammates usually take care of these other faster balances with tornadus-t for example.

cool set i used to troll the ladder after getting reqs, hope you like it

Voting can start now and will end in 48 Hours! Here are your choices:

All Attacks Mega Gallade
Bulk Up+Rest Mega Gallade
Sub+Bulk Up Mega Gallade
Sub Pain Split Mega Gallade
Support Mega Gallade
Offensive Utility Mega Gallade
Memento Mega Gallade
Taunt Mega Gallade
Toxic Mega Gallade
Focus Punch Mega Gallade
Skill Swap Mega Gallade
Shadow Sneak Mega Gallade
Leaf Blade Mega Gallade

Sub Pain Split Mega Gallade

At least, this set make good use of the life loss from Substitute to have a sort of "coverage move" towards generic bulky monsters not being Ghosts and not behind a Substitute themselves.

Offensive Utility Mega Gallade

i was hoping somebody would be creative and not use mega gallade, but at least this set seems like fun, woulda like to see skill swap on it too somewhere tho, but still, it seems fun, and like it could work overall pretty well if done right.

The winner for Week 13 goes to Clair's Offensive Utility Mega Gallade! Congratz for entering the Hall of Fame!

The Pokemon for Week 14 is Gengar!

Gengar isn't as cool looking in design as its Pre-Evolution Haunter, but Gengar is one of the scariest Pokemon to goes against in battle for how unpredictable it is. Gengar has great speed, speed tying with Latios and Latias and decent Special Attack making it a hard hitter. However, Gengar is very frail in its Defense and its Sp Defense has a bit more bulk, but not by much. Even theses cons of Gengar, Gengar has a vast Movepool that makes it unpredictable; also during 2014's Halloween, Gengar got the move Sludge Wave making it hit harder than Sludge Bomb, how cool is that?! Anyway with that being said, goodluck to you guys :]
