Overview
########
[Pros]
  • Great Ability in Prankster
  • Base 125 Sp Att and 115 Atk along with great speed tier allows it to invest in bulk rather than speed
  • Is very easy to fit on a team
  • One of the best methods of Speed Control with Thunder Wave and is a great Taunt user
  • Is a Mega Salamence check
[Cons]
  • Bulk is somewhat lackluster
  • Cannot use its Defiant ability due to Kalos and Hoenn born rules
  • Weak to common Ice and Rock moves

Support Thundurus
########
name: Support
move 1: Thunderbolt
move 2: Thunder Wave
move 3: Taunt
move 4: Hidden Power Ice / Swagger
ability: Prankster
item: Sitrus Berry / Leftovers / Yache Berry / Life Orb
evs: 252 HP / 204 SpD / 52 Spd
nature: Calm

Moves
========
  • Thunderbolt is a strong STAB to use when there is no need to use support moves
  • Thunder Wave cripples faster threats for speed control
  • Taunt is great for preventing sleep, burns, Trick Room, or other status moves
  • HP Ice can finish BoltBeam coverage for more offensive pressure but Swagger can be used if you don't have the right IV's

Set Details
========
  • The speed creep can help you Taunt other Thundurus and even Whimsicott with no speed investment
  • If you decide to use Rain Dance, Thunder can be an optiom
  • 252 /116 allows Thundurus to take Max attack Landorus-T Stone Edge and Rock Slide from Jolly Terrakion while the 252 / 68 survives Modest Life Orb Draco Meteor from Hydreigon and Specs Sylveon Hyper Voice

Usage Tips
========
  • Use Thundurus as a disrupter by spamming Thunder Wave and taunting things like Cresselia that want to set up Trick Room or Amoongus that Rage Powders
  • If Thundurus doesn't have anything to do in terms of disruption it should switch out if it can't threaten anyone or stay in to attack.
  • Due to its poor defense stat, it does not work well with allied Earthquake users, as spread damage will be done regardless

Team Options
========
  • Steel Types are great partners because they resist rock and ice attack which Thundurus is weak too. Aegislash is a great partner because Thundurus is immune to its Ground Weakness and can paralyze opponents so that Aegislash strikes earlier.
  • Physical attackers will appreciate Thundurus being able to Taunt potential Will-o-Wispers or Thunder Wave users.
  • Pokemon in an awkward speed tier from 60 to 80 appreciate Thundurus paralyzing opponents. A nice partner is Breloom which can take out Ice and Rock types Thundurus is weak to while benefiting from Thunder Wave.
  • Fighting types are great because they can hit Rock and Ice types that Thundurus is weak to.
  • Intimidate helps to weaken physical attackers. Since Thundurus is investing in Special Defense Intimidate can help bolster its Defense so that it can take the more common physical rock attacks.
  • Fake Out users are helpful to allow Thundurus a free turn to either Thunder Wave or Taunt

Offensive
########
name: Offensive
move 1: Thunderbolt
move 2: Hidden Power Ice
move 3: Thunder Wave / Psychic / Grass Knot
move 4: Protect
ability: Prankster
item: Life Orb
evs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
nature: Timid

Moves
========
  • Thunderbolt is STAB and hits hard especially with Magnet or Life Orb
  • HP Ice forms a boltbeam combo and hits Mega Salamence, Landorus, etc..
  • Grass Knot is great to hit Swampert or Gastrodon while Psychic can hit Mega Venusaur, Fighting types, etc..
  • Thunder Wave can still be used for speed control and for a last ditch effort when thundurs will go down
  • Protect is always a strategic move as it scouts and can give momentum for your teammate.

Set Details
========
  • 252 Speed for outspeeding base 110's
  • 252 Special attack is full investment in Special Attack, so that Thundurus hits as hard as possible
Usage Tips
========
  • Is an all around threat with lots of options. Its coverage means it can always threaten at least one mon on the field
  • Thundurus is really frail so going with another hard hitter is good to have a ton of offensive pressure
  • You can play aggressively as many won't be expecting offensive thundurus. For example you can superpower a tyranitar that thinks it can just rock slide

Team Options
========
  • Steel Types are great partners because they resist rock and ice attack which Thundurus is weak too. Aegislash is a great partner because Thundurus is immune to its Ground Weakness and can paralyze opponents so that Aegislash strikes earlier.
Other Options
########
  • Focus Blast / Superpower - Fighting coverage is always good so that Thundurus can surprise Kangaskhan, Bisharp, and Tyranitar.
  • Knock Off / Dark Pulse - Knock off spam is so common and getting rid of sitrus berries and leftovers can be very helpful for one of thundurus' teammates.
  • Sky Drop - Sky Drop is STAB boosted and also very good because it can take out a pokemon and allow a 1v1 in a favorable matchup.
  • Rocky Helmet - Rocky Helmet can punish physical attackers, especially Fake Out users and Mega Kangaskhan
  • Substitute/Nasty Plot - Substitute is always nice to be able to aggressivley attack
  • Rain Dance - This is often forgotten on Thundurus and the priority Rain Dance can greatly ease the pressure on rain mons like Politoed.

Checks & Counters
########
***Excadrill*** Excadrill is immune to Thunder Waves and takes nothing from HP Ice while able to Rock Slide it. Thundurus can't use Thunder Wave and boosting Excadrill's attack with Swagger is incredibly risky

***Electric Types, Lightning Rod, and Volt Absorb*** Electric types are immune to paralysis and Lightning Rod users can come in and protect their teammates from really annoying Thunder Waves, ruining Thundurus' ability to provide speed control.

***Rotom-Heat*** Resists the moves Thundurus runs and also is immune to Thunder Wave, while able to deal decent damage back.

***Rock Types*** Superpower is an uncommon move run and Pokemon like Tyranitar and Terrakion can easily Rock Slide and deal a lot of damage to Thundurus.

In the overview mention how it is one of the best checks to Mega Salamence being able to paralyze it before it has the chance to do anything, and hit it with HP Ice. I would also remove mention of losing Defiant, unlike Tornadus, Thundurus has always preferred playing support. While viable Defiant was never Thundurus's main niche.

Support
########
name: Support
move 1: Thunderbolt
move 2: Thunder Wave
move 3: Hidden Power Ice
move 4: Taunt / Swagger
ability: Prankster
item: Sitrus Berry / Leftovers
evs: 252 HP / 116 Def / 44 SpA / 68 SpD / 28 Spe
nature: Calm

The spread you had listed doesn't do much, you then had this spread mentioned further down as more updated. It's a better spread than the one you had listed on the set. Life Orb isn't really fitting on this set and with the bulk neither is really Yache Berry. Taunt and Swagger are more interchangeable as Hidden Power Ice prevents Thundurus from losing to Landorus-T and Garchomp.

I would remove the Rain Dance set entirely, and add Rain Dance and Thunder to OO. Rain Dance when needed would just be tacked onto the support set, and Thunder would be a risky choice that given its shaky accuracy outside of rain. Thunderbolt on the other hand isn't that much weaker and is far more reliable.

Offensive

name: Offensive
move 1: Thunderbolt
move 2: Hidden Power Ice
move 3: Grass Knot / Superpower
move 4: Protect / Thunder Wave / Taunt
ability: Prankster
item: Life Orb / Expert Belt
evs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
nature: Timid

The offensive set should look like this, even with a Timid nature Thundurus doesn't need any investment OHKO 4/0 Tyranitar with Superpower 100% of the time. I'm not convinced by HP Flying, realistically it only helps with Mega Venusaur and Amoonguss but then loses to Landorus-T, Garchomp, and has a worse match-up with Mega Salamence. So I would move HP Flying to OO. Focus Blast is really too unreliable when it has more reliable options. I would mention a degree of fluidity in the third and fourth slot as Twave and Taunt could be used over the less necessary coverage moves.

Remove Swagger (it's on a set), sludge wave, Focus Blast, Superpower (it's on a set), Knock Off / Dark Pulse (only hit Cresselia and Aegislash, they do little to Cresselia and activate Aegislash's Weakness Policy which is more dangerous), Incinerate (Is weaker than a STAB Thunderbolt on anything other than Scizor and Ferrothorn which both lose to Thundurus regardless), Heal Block, and Psychic from OO. Add Chesto Berry + Rest, Yache Berry, Charti Berry, and Safety Goggles (beats amoonguss 100% of the time) to OO.

Add **Offensive Type Advantage** and **Taunt** to CC. Offensive Type Advantage covers Rock- and Ice-type moves. Taunt shuts down the support set.

On the rain set, you say HP Ice in moves despite having HP Flying on the actual set. I'm pretty sure you meant HP Ice as otherwise you are giving up the ability to beat either Lando-T or M-Mence.

actually, i think the support set should have the EVs of something like bold, 252 HP / 128 Def / 92 SpD / 36 Spe. it lives kangaskhan's attacks, outspeeds stuff around 80 base speed, with the rest dumped into special defense. unslash life orb and yache berry.

remove the rain set. it's the offensive set but with thunder. put rain dance in OO.

this should be the offensive set. HP flying is outclassed by psychic now because it has the same base power as psychic after STAB and you can't use HP ice with it.

  • Focus Blast / Superpower
  • Knock Off / Dark Pulse
  • Sky Drop
  • Rocky Helmet
  • Substitute/Nasty Plot
  • Rain Dance
this is what OO should look like.

checks and counters needs fleshing out. you only have two things listed.

Yea I see what u mean, but I'm not finding too many counters rn.
Mamoswine, Ferrothorn, Mega Venusaur, Rotom-H are pretty decent counters. I'd consider most rock sliders (Terrakion, Tyranitar) good checks because Superpower is pretty uncommon atm. I don't know if we're including less used Pokemon but Gastrodon can take anything bar grass knot, and while you mention Lightning Rod Pokemon, the most common one Raichu matches up decently (but it only fits on very specific teams).

Edit: Mega Manetric looks like a good counter/check, and Raikou too though thats less common

Another not-so-active analysis, i guess? Again, like in Salamence analysis, this is already 3 months old, yet its still in QC 0/2. Not to mention again like Salamence, Thundurus is kinda of top of top priority mons.
