Time to break the ice! (Gen VI OU)

Hello friends. This is a team that I am aiming to get >1700 with, and currently it has proven to be extremely effective. I am posting this to share my team with you guys, and I hope you can give me constructive feedback to help me on my quest :D

Swampert wasn't strong enough to beat most Pokemon, Forretress had a x4 Fire weakness and was damaged too often by Fighting and Ground moves, and Thundurus lacked a way to check Fighting types. You will be missed D':

In-depth:

MEGA-ABOMASNOW

460-mega.gif

Abomasnow @ Abomasite
Ability: Snow Warning
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Wood Hammer
- Avalanche
- Ice Shard
- Protect

Q: Why the physical Mega-Abomasnow set? Is this a gimmick?
With the Mega Stone, one can rack up passive damage as well as switch attacks, which wasn't possible with his previous choice builds. Running this unexpected physical set has proven to be effective, with many people not expecting surprise Avalanches and Wood Hammers coming from this guy. Megazard Y cannot take an Avalanche:

252+ Atk Mega Abomasnow Avalanche vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Mega Charizard Y: 89.9 - 106% -- OHKO under Hail

Q: So how does one manage to hit Mega Charizard Y with an Avalanche?
A: You can't take a Fire Blast, but you can take a Focus Blast (prediction is needed here). Increased bulk has also helped him survive more attacks and tank a couple of hits:

252 SpA Mega Charizard Y Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Mega Abomasnow: 76 - 89.5% -- 2HKO

Q: What about Mega Charizard X?
A: Outrage cannot KO Abomasnow:

252+ Atk Tough Claws Mega Charizard X Outrage vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Mega Abomasnow: 71.8 - 84.6% -- 2HKO

BUT:
252+ Atk Mega Abomasnow Avalanche vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Mega Charizard X: 66.7 - 78.8%
252+ Atk Mega Abomasnow Ice Shard vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Mega Charizard X: 22.4 - 26.5%

Even if you get the worst damage roll possible, Megazard X still dies to hail.

Q: You obviously can't take a Fire Blast. Not even a Flamethrower. D:<
A: Abomasnow is an offensive powerhouse, but he obviously needs support. Which brings me to my next Pokemon:

HEATRAN

485.gif

Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 248 SDef / 8 Spd
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Earth Power
- Stealth Rock
- Lava Plume
- Roar

Q: Really? Heatran?
A: This guy's immunity to Fire is great. Not only can he take hits without defensive investment, he can Roar and set up Rocks for my team! He can outspeed most other Heatran with speed EVs, with a 2HKO with Earth Power. So no more sweepers, and no more Special Attackers:

+3 252+ Atk Tough Claws Mega Charizard X Outrage vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Heatran: 88 - 103.8% -- 25% OHKO chance

Q: Other than wall Charizards, what can he do?
A: Tank super-effective hits. Here:

252 SpA Life Orb Starmie Surf vs. 252 HP / 248+ SpD Heatran: 57.2 - 68.6% -- 2HKO
+2 252+ Atk Cloyster Rock Blast (5 hits) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Heatran: 59.5 - 71.2% -- 2HKO
252+ Atk Aegislash-Blade Sacred Sword vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Heatran: 59 - 69.9% -- 2HKO
252 SpA Life Orb Thundurus Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 248+ SpD Heatran: 59.8 - 70.7% -- 2HKO

Q: Okay, then what about defence? Powerful Fighting and Ground moves will --
A: Shh. Now onto my next Pokemon:

LATIAS
Shoutout to LOStreamer

380.gif

Latias @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SAtk
Bold Nature
- Roost
- Psyshock
- Defog
- Hidden Power [Fire]

Q: Why Latias?
A: Defensive Latias has good bulk and stops Fire & Ground Pokemon, this is great for my other wall, Heatran. Roost and Defog are there to get rid of hazards, while HP Fire can nab Scizor and Ferrothorn. Psyshock is just a STAB move so it isn't taunt bait.

252+ Atk Scizor U-turn vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Latias: 53.2 - 63.1% -- 2HKO
4 SpA Latias Hidden Power Fire vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Mega Scizor: 54.6 - 65.1% -- 2HKO

252 SpA Mega Gengar Shadow Ball vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Latias: 69.7 - 82.9% -- 2HKO
4 SpA Latias Psyshock vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Mega Gengar: 87 - 103% -- 18.8% OHKO chance

Q: Dude, all your Pokemon aren't that good offensively except for Abomasnow. You walls are just tanks, anything that can help?
A: Instead off trying to keep Abomasnow alive just for Ice Shard, I've got 2 Pokemon that can help :D

TORNADUS
Shoutout to Blackraven

641.gif

Tornadus @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Substitute
- Bulk Up
- Acrobatics
- Superpower

Q: How does he fit in on a Hail team at all?
A: Well, he can safely switch in on a Fighting type and set up. With Substitute and Hail, he'll get down to 110 BP Acrobatics within a few turns!

+1 252+ Atk Tornadus Acrobatics (110 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Darmanitan: 124.7 - 147% -- OHKO
(too lazy to do any more calcs)

Q: So where's your special attacker? Your team will be vulnerable to Fire types now because of their burns.
A: This brings me to one of the best wall-breakers on my team:

KELDEO
Shoutout to sparrowkatana

647.gif

Keldeo @ Choice Specs
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Secret Sword
- Hidden Power [Ghost]
- Icy Wind

Q: Hey look! A pony!
A: THE pony. Keldeo is capable of punching holes in stuff. This is a standard Specs set, and it is effective for getting rid of Pokemon my team does not want to handle later on. HP Ghost allows it to hit Dark types (helps Latias) and fight Celebi.

252 SpA Choice Specs Keldeo Hydro Pump vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Mega Tyranitar: 133.9 - 158.4% -- OHKO
252 SpA Choice Specs Keldeo Hidden Power Ghost vs. 252 HP / 220+ SpD Celebi: 36.1 - 42.5%

Q: Ok, but he needs quite a lot of support from your team. Dragon types are a huge counter, most of them can tank your Ice attacks and sweep. What have you done to address this?
A: This brings me to the last Pokemon on my team:

KYUREM

646.gif

Kyurem @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Blizzard
- Draco Meteor
- Earth Power
- Dragon Pulse

Q: Blizzard and Focus Blast are risky choices, and Kyurem is really weak to Stealth Rock and other things like Fighting, Rock, and Steel.
A: Which is why the Choice Scarf set! Sweeping under Hail is easy (just click Blizzard), many don't expect Kyrem to outspeed and cleanly OHKO one of their Pokemon:

252 SpA Kyurem Blizzard vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Multiscale Dragonite: 111.1 - 131.4% (with friggin' multiscale!)
252 SpA Kyurem Blizzard vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Skarmory: 72.1 - 85.3%
252 SpA Kyurem Blizzard vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Excadrill: 70.4 - 83.1%

See? So here is my revenge killer/wall breaker/punch-holes-through-a-team-Pokemon.
The team is complete.

You guys in the comments section
& anyone who has been beaten or has beaten my team
The reason why I think this team has the potential to reach the 1700s mark on the ladder, is because I think, with proper usage and prediction, it can take on any kind of team.
Sadly, my team is overly reliant on Forretress for getting rid of SR, and can't function as well if a teammate is knocked out (with so many x4 resists, and x4 weaknesses, one misplay can cost you a match).
If I'm going to make a balanced and powerful team to beat sparrowkatana reach the 1700s mark, I would really appreciate it if you guys would give some constructive feedback on this team. Thanks for reading this RMT

A viable hail team?

Will it be possible?

First off all your team is frick'n 'mazing well done in making a successful hail team in OU. I can tell that you spent a lot of effort creating checks for each one of the big threats.

Unfortunately hail still has it's weaknesses the most prominent as always is stealth rocks, and spikes, picture this:
Your opponent sends out deo d, you seeing the deo d in the preview lead with forretress, turn 1 sr, you rapid spin, red card forces you to swam pert or something, sets up two layers of spikes in your face. If you attempt to spin aegislash comes and ruins your day, you team eventually gets killed by hazard through forced switches, garchomp for Heatran, aegislash for mega Obama etc etc etc. it doesn't matter if they predict wrong but if you do your screwed.

Additionally Ice still has it's weaknesses to another common enemy scizor. You might be thinking scizor isn't a problem I've got Heatran! Sadly remember that you are switching into it and superpower fells one of your mons, then they switch out into a check / counter for whatever you bring in.

Anyways my suggestion is to replace forretress for a defencive.latias it can catch scizor with a well timed HP fire Defog away hazards take down powerful fighting type and heal your mons with healing wish. At the same time having good synergy with ice by being resistant to fighting and fire and it also resists grass for swampert and is immune to ground for Heatran.
Latias @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 68 SAtk / 188 HP / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
-Psyshock
-Hidden Power Fire
-Defog
-Roost/Draco Meteor/Healing Wish
EVs allow it to take advantage of its speed tier to outspeed threats, enough SAtk to 2HKO conk, can't OHKO scizor, BUT you can HP fire, live a pursuit at around 50% and roost as they switch out! this allows Latias to stay in for Long periods of time you can also opt for dmeteor pr healing wish but recover / roost is preferred

LOStreamer I see where you are coming from but if he adds another Dragon type pokemon to his team it will be cronically weak to dragon and fairy pokemon (not so much dragon seeing as there is an abomasnow with Ice Shard there but Black Kyurem and Regular Kyurem will still be able to tank that and get on to sweeping his team with a choice scarved outrage). This is just my opinion though. I haven't played for a while so I may be wrong but overall it is Emberhuddle's opinion that matters

Your calculations against Mega Charizard Y don't take Mega Aboma's Adamant nature into account. In fact you actually outright OHKO it most of the time factoring Hail damage:
252+ Atk Mega Abomasnow Avalanche vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Mega Charizard Y: 268-316 (89.9 - 106%) -- 37.5% chance to OHKO

Anyway this is an excellent and creative team and I can't think of any improvements right now.
Care to provide a few replays?

Glad to see you've posted this team :)
I actually think forre should carry toxic, cos I considered LOStreamer's comment, and yes, deo-D is a solid lead against ur team. Toxic will help in that aspect, as it will provide a means of actually damaging the thing, provided it doesnt carry taunt..
Toxic guarantees reliable damage against deo-D, as the longer it stays in to set up hazards, the more health it loses. And u can stay in the forretress, spamming rapid spin till he switches out or eventually dies.
If he DOES carry taunt, chances are he only has stealth rock, and no spikes, as seismic toss and recover are almost must-have moves on any deo-D set, barring the rare bulky nasty plot sweeper.
Yeah, other than that I think it's great that you've been getting back into using hail again, espacially after the big nerf to weather this gen.
Gd luck in ur road to the 1700s fren :]

Great team! Honestly, i have never used a weather team before due to the fact that ttar is really common now, which spoils your weather. However, a Megasaur can be a pain in the ass for this team.(I know you have said Abomasnow has it covered blah blah), but a HP fire would literally wreck it. Gengar with its focus blasting and giga drain would also be detrimental to your team on the whole. I strongly recommend you to continue to play with this team and rewatch replays, find out what you are lacking in etc :) <-- i remembered someone told someone else this xD , maybe when you do find some weaknesses, share it and we can help you

thundershock1234
Fairy is hardly a offensive typing the only actually useable one being azumaril and no one uses fairy as coverage except for alakazam, additively blizzard spamming kyurem is a problem but scarf variants are easily played against

Good luck man. Though if this team doesn't work, I would recommend swapping out Thunderous for Tornadous, and playing in UU. This would make an amazing UU team. I do however expect it to do the finest of work in OU. Hope you have a good time laddering. Also, with the new BP clause, you don't even have to worry about Baton Pass. I predict Heatran to be the star of your team

LOStreamer
Latias is actually quite good on this team, but Forretress is good too (after your suggestion I've tried out both). So now it's up to personal choice, Forretress has plenty resistances and has a better Defence stat, while Latias has resistances to Fire & Fighting and an immunity to Ground, but lacks a high Defence stat. I'd stick with Latias for the great synergy with Heatran.

Sparrowkatana

Toxic is a good choice here, so my set would be Spikes / Rapid Spin / Toxic / Earthquake?
This can hurt many spinblockers, and Toxic is always appreciated.

Blackraven
Tornadus can work, seeing that any Fighting type that stays in will get hurt by a Hurricane. What set would I run on Tornadus?

I would run a Bulk Up set with sitrus berry to power up acrobatics. Here's the official set:
Tornadus @ Sitrus Berry EVs: 252 Atk, 252 Speed, Adament Nature, Ability: Prankster
Bulk Up
Acrobatics
Superpower
Substitute
Sub Helps you get down to your berry, and let you set up. Come in on any Fighting type in the tier and set up a Sub. Then bulk up, rinse and repeat till you get down to your sitrus berry and sweep.

If Forretress doesn't suit you, I would recommend using Mandibuzz with Overcoat. Better mixed bulk, better typing, but lacks stealth rocks. Other than that, great team!

Hey guys, thanks for all your feedback.
Tornadus has been quite helpful when paired along with Keldeo (suggestion from sparrowkatana to replace Swampert, 3HKOs weren't enough).
For the question of Mandibuzz vs Latias vs Forretress, it's all down to personal choice now. All of them can fit really well on my team (right now I've got Latias).
I might make a UU team with
Chandelure...

Here's a replay:
http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/ou-131824418

IM BAD AT THE GAME OK. TEAM IS GOOD BUT IM INEXPERIENCED
D:

Latias would serve as a better special wall because of her sky high Sp. D and to take the fire hits once Heatran is done.

This team does have a weavile problem... I can't find a solution quite yet...

Wow, you popped the guy on the rematch. Glad you took my Tornadus suggestion. Tornadus T could also be nice in OU. As for the struggle for the wall (lol) I still think Foretress is your best bet. Why? Because without foretress, Weavile runs rampant on your team.
