Overview
########

Trevenant is a rather mediocre Pokemon in the UU metagame, as its average defenses and HP means that it has problems taking strong hits, while it has bad speed, meaning it has to take a hit before it can retaliate. Although Trevenant has some offensive presence, it is not enough to seriously hurt most walls. What sets Trevenant apart is its ability Harvest, which makes Trevenant a decent annoyer, even though Harvest is luck-based. Trevenant is not only weak to Knock Off, but it also loses its berry permanently to it. As Trevenant relies mainly on status moves, it is stopped by Substitute users, and also cannot break through Pokemon with reliable recovery. Finally, Trevenant is forced out by many common Pokemon, including Fire-types it cannot burn with Will-O-Wisp.

DON'T USE TREVENANT(SubSeed)
########
name: DON'T USE TREVENANT(SubSeed)
move 1: Substitute
move 2: Leech Seed
move 3: Will-O-Wisp
move 4: Phantom Force / Horn Leech
ability: Harvest
item: Sitrus Berry
evs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
nature: Careful

Moves
========

Substitute blocks status moves such as Toxic and eases prediction when set up on Pokemon unable to hurt Trevenant. Leech Seed provides Trevenant with passive recovery, while it also chips away at the foe's health. Will-O-Wisp is used to cripple most physical attackers, making them unable to hurt Trevenant, while in conjunction with Leech Seed it can deal lots of damage. Phantom Force is used to stall for more Harvest turns, and also deals decent damage. Horn Leech is an alternative if you do not want to give free turns, and it also provides extra recovery. Shadow Claw is also an option if you want Trevenant to hit right off the bat and want to use a Ghost-type move instead, as it can be helpful against Substitute sweepers such as Cresselia.

Set Details
========

Maximum HP, a Careful nature, and Special Defense EVs increase special bulk, as Trevenant can take on most Physical attackers with Will-O-Wisp. A Sitrus Berry is used to take advantage of Harvest and have continuous healing. Harvest is a must in order to be able to get back the Sitrus Berry after it is consumed.

Usage Tips
========

Bring Trevenant in on something that cannot hurt it and then set up a Substitute or you can predict the switch in if you are confident and use the appropriate move. Burn Physical attackers with Will-O-Wisp first and then use Leech Seed or Substitute. Avoid Knock Off at all costs as it will remove the Sitrus Berry permanently, crippling Trevenant. Stay away from Fire-type attackers such as Infernape and Darmanitan as they cannot be crippled by a burn, and can hit Trevenant hard. Do not stay in against a foe you cannot hurt that also has recovery, as Trevenant will just get stalled out of PP. Don't put up a Substitute if the switch in can just break it while not minding any of Trevenant's moves, for example, don't set up a Substitute against predicted Mega Absol.

Team Options
========

Partners that can defeat Grass-types are helpful, so Pokemon such as Mega Pidgeot, Mega Houndoom, and Entei make for good teammates. Most Fire-types also give Trevenant trouble, so Water-types such as Milotic and Vaporeon work well with it. Trevenant has problems with stall, so Stallbreakers such as Taunt Krookodile and Crobat can help it greatly, while Crobat also can annoy Substitue users thanks to Infiltrator. As Trevenant can force many switches, entry hazard setters such as Nidoqueen and Forretress can set up entry hazards and take advantage of this.

DON'T USE TREVENANT(Rest)
########
name: DON'T USE TREVENANT(Rest)
move 1: Rest
move 2: Will-O-Wisp
move 3: Leech Seed
move 4: Horn Leech / Shadow Claw
ability: Harvest
item: Lum Berry
evs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
nature: Careful

Moves
========

Rest makes Trevenant less susceptible to status, and even turns it into a status absorber for the team. In addition to this, it gives Trevenant a large amount of recovery. Will-O-Wisp weakens physical attackers while getting helpful chip damage. Leech Seed also gives Trevenant extra recovery, while slowly wearing down the foe. Horn Leech gives Trevenant extra recovery, while preventing it from becoming Taunt bait. Shadow Claw can be used if you prefer Ghost STAB as it hits some common switch ins harder than Horn Leech.

Set Details
========

252 HP and 252 Special Defense EVs along with a Careful nature maximize Special bulk as Trevenant can burn Physical attackers. A Lum Berry combined with Harvest can fully heal Trevenant multiple times, although Natural Cure with Leftovers is also possible, but it means Trevenant will be useless for a few turns if it stays in.

Usage Tips
========

Use Trevenant to absorb status from moves such as Scald and Toxic for the team, and then Rest it off. Stay away from Knock Off as losing your Lum Berry can prevent you from abusing Harvest. This set does not have Substitute so it requires you to predict your opponents switch in and use the appropriate move. Keep in mind Trevenant will wake up after two turns even if Harvest does not activate. Do not overestimate Trevenant's capabilities as it will still lose to some threats eventually if Harvest fails to activate at the right times. If possible, try and get off Leech Seed or Will-O-Wisp before using Rest, as it will make Trevenant harder to break through. Be extremely careful of setup sweepers as they can setup without fear while Trevenant is asleep.

Team Options
========

Trevenant can help absorb status for attackers crippled by status such as Mega Sharpedo, Honchkrow, and Mienshao. As Trevenant can force switches, entry hazard setters such as Nidoqueen and Forretress are generally useful. Special walls such as Florges and Umbreon appreciate Trevenant's ability to absorb status and spread burns, while the latter can remove sleep with Heal Bell. A stop to Fire-type attackers such as Vaporeon or Suicune can help tank Fire-type moves Trevenant cannot take.

Other Options
########

Curse is an option but taking away 50% of Trevenant's health can really compromise its bulk. Wood Hammer is also viable but Trevenant does not really need to hit any harder and the recoil can be detrimental. Protect can stall for passive damage and Harvest, but takes up a valuable moveslot and is somewhat easy to play around. Finally, Toxic can cripple walls but a burn is generally the better status condition to inflict.

Checks & Counters
########

**Knock Off*: Knock Off from Pokemon such as Mega Absol and Krookodile is not only is super effective on Trevenant but also removes its berry making Harvest useless. Even the threat of a non-STAB Knock Off from Pokemon such as Mienshao and Donphan can force Trevenant out as it will cripple it for the rest of the match.

**Fire-type Attackers**: Most Fire-types such as Darmanitan, Infernape, and Entei do not mind Horn Leech or Leech Seed too much and cannot be burned, while they can threaten Trevenant with their STAB moves.

**Walls**: Walls such as Blissey and Florges can use Toxic on Trevenant and cripple it if it lacks Rest, although Trevenant can also avoid Toxic behind a Substitute.

**Infiltrator Users**: Infiltrator users such as Crobat and Noivern can force out Trevenant regardless of whether it is behind a Substitute, although the former does not like Will-O-Wisp.

You should really emphasize how unviable Trevenant is in UU. Its annoyer set is annoying, but not really that good at all, as it is easily stopped and broken through by a number of Pokemon. Lum Berry + Rest is eternally crippled by Knock Off, and is still easy to break through. Overall, you really need to write this in a more negative tone.

Ok should I name it "DON'T USE TREVENANT"
lol I will try to fix this tho

Setting both set names to "DON"T USE TREVENANT" should get the idea across. The set name is the most visible part of an analysis when looking at the dex, so getting a warning would definitely help.

Ok I tried to make it more negative but kinda hard to do in bullet points, I will defs make sure to make it negative when writing up

When talking about Knock Off, you should also mention users that Trevenant would actually have any intention of staying in on (aka not Dark-types that OHKO it anyway). Even unSTABed Knock Offs from mons like Mienshao, Machamp, Donphan, etc. are plenty enough to cripple Trevenant.

Ok done

Mention Choice Band in OO, it has a nice movepool (EQ / rock slide are both p good on a mon that commonly has fire-types like entei and molt switching in) and base 110 attack isn't bad at all. Also, Curse + Harvest Sitrus Berry isn't really bad, so you should rephrase that.

QC 3/3 after that blinkie
