Ursaring #217

HP: 90
Attack: 130
Defense: 75
Sp.Atk: 75
Sp.Def: 75
Speed: 55

Guts increases Ursaring's physical Attack by 50% when he is inflicted with a major status ailment, such as Poison. In the case of Burn, the usual Attack reduction is overwritten by Guts' boost.

Quick Feet increases Ursaring's Speed by 50% when he is inflicted with a major status ailment, such as Poison. In the case of Paralysis, the usual Speed reduction is overwritten by Quick Feet's boost.

Unnerve prevents all foes from consuming any berries they may be holding. This effect persists until Ursaring leaves the field.

Quick Feet Swords Dancer

Ursaring @ Toxic Orb
Trait: Quick Feet
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly nature
- Swords Dance
- Facade
- Close Combat
- Fire Punch / Shadow Claw

Probably Urasaring's most devastating set. It out-speeds the majority of RU with a Quick Feet boost and hits extremely hard with an SD, STAB boosted Facade coming off an impressive base 130 attack.

Hone Claws

Ursaring @ Life Orb/Leftovers
Trait: Guts/Quick Feet
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant nature
- Hone Claws
- Mega Kick
- DynamicPunch
- Fire Punch / Shadow Claw

This set abuses one of Urasring's new toys, Hone Claws. It's boost attack while boosting the accuracy of two high risk high reward attacks in Dynamic Punch and Mega Kick.

Mega Kick and DynamicPunch are 3rd gen moves, and thus can not be used with Quick Feet iirc. And you really need Protect on Ursaring, as without it you're liable to take a huge amount of damage getting your Burn/ Poison off.

not really. Ursaring forces a ton of switches in RU so activating status is never really a problem

iirc Teddiursa can learn Mega Kick and Dynamic Punch, so once it's been imported as a Teddiursa, it's ability could change upon evolving. However, the Hone Claws still sucks, since a status boosted Facade and Close Combat do more damage, and already have 100% accuracy. Not to mention Swords Dance is better than Hone Claws.

Maybe mention a trick room abuser?

Ursaring @ Toxic Orb/Flame Orb
Trait: Guts
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
IVs: 0 Spe
Nature: Brave
- Hammer Arm
- Facade/Double Edge
- Crunch/Night Slash
- Swords Dance/Yawn/Filler

Basically self explanatory, Hammer Arm for steels and also lowers your speed, Facade for stab, and Crunch or Night Slash for Ghosts.

The moves in the first should be facade/close combat/crunch. Unresisted, and fire punch and shadow claw is just unnecessary. Nice job otherwise I guess.

Oh baby what a sexy Pokemon ^^)

Yeah Facade, Close Combat and Crunch is the best coverage. Fire Punch should be 4th choice, for a Trick Room set maybe.

If you can pass it a speed boost or two, Ursaring will not stop killing. +2 Guts hits something ridiculous like 1300 Attack or something. Such a beast

Unable to be walled in a conventional way =/= broken. He dies to a stiff breeze, and the Toxic Damage will surely rack up quickly. As with most Status Orb Sweepers, he's really prone to a Ghost / Dark-Resist switching in and out in random--and even if he's able to get a kill, he'll die really soon.

Aaaand... that's just assuming that you have a defensive team. As a defensive team, you're really in a conundrum vs. Ursaring because he'll bring down at least 1 mon along the way--and that's terrible for a stallish team. However, as an offensive team, what you should do is always stay in on an Ursaring and hit him with your STAB, before Status Orb even activates and Facade's power and Ursaring's speed both double. I've heard 'ursaring forces many switches' Not true: no resistences, middling bulk, and bad speed means that you cannot force switches. If you keep facing people who just switch out of Ursaring for no reason, you'll win games. Ursaring is a good mon-I've even used things like Swellow or Raticate and they work well: of course Ursaring does, too. But by no means is he broken.

it was banned from uu in advance without quick feet, or close combat, or physical crunch, that's saying someting

Edit: and 90/75/75 is bulkier than P-Z and it can take at least one hit.

IIRC, BLs in RBY, GSC, and ADV aren't based on 'suspect process'--that only came in starting in Gen 4. So that means that the people working on Smogon decided that Ursaring was usable but not good enough for OU--not that it was banned in ADV UU via suspect process because of 'brokenness.'

Even if it were, it doesn't really matter--Entei without Flare Blitz and Extremespeed is also in ADV BL; that's a lot bigger of a boost IMO. Does that mean that Entei is broken? I'd be interested to find anyone who legitimately thinks Entei is broken. Its BL status in ADV is completely unrelated to how good it is in BW RU at this very moment.

EDIT: Lol, if there was a suspect process in GSC... Snorlax would have been so banned. idk why people's standard of 'ban this' is rising so quickly

And Alakazam was the best sweeper in the game in RBY. Your point? Different gens, different threats, different playstyles, different tier-qualifying stats.

You have a point here. But after playtesting it is still taking down at least one (usually 2+) pokemon per team

Edit: after some more playtesting i now believe that ursaring is not broken persay, but a HUGE threat that people should watch out for. Hes no yanmega, but hes still Very good.
