"Wait, what?" A Platinum Warstory

I was trying to rebuild my team to match Platinum standards. I went on Shoddy for the first time in ages to try this out. This was the third match, but there were many warstory-worthy battles that day. (That means you might be seeing more of these from me...)

My Team:

ACDC's Team will be revealed t the end of the match.

burnpsy's moves will look like this.
ACDCGAMER's moves will look like this.
other text will look like this.
Nicknames will be removed.
Scores will be shown after each KO.

Rules: Ladder Match, Sleep Clause, Freeze Clause, OHKO Clause, Evasion Clause, Species Clause, Strict Damage Clause
burnpsy sent out Graphix (lvl 100 Porygonz).
ACDCGAMER sent out Metalcross (lvl 100 Metagross).
Porygonz's Download raised its stats!
Porygonz's special attack was raised.
Porygonz used Dark Pulse.
A critical hit!
Metagross lost 100% of its health.
ACDCGAMER's Metalcross fainted.
(6-5)

I seriously didn't expect an OHKO on Metagross, but that's how it started, this started my opponent on a disadvantage. This also left my opponent to do all the thinking for the moment... He watched as I did a battle later on, a Metagross tricked my Scarf for a Scarf, he said he was going to do that...

---
ACDCGAMER: whoa shit
ACDCGAMER: XD
burnpsy: LOL
ACDCGAMER: that was ownage right there
ACDCGAMER: especially against a Metagross
burnpsy: especially wioth 3 SpA
ACDCGAMER switched in Assassin (lvl 100 Weavile ?).
Weavile is exerting its pressure!
burnpsy switched in SWAMPERT (lvl 100 Swampert ?).
Weavile used Brick Break.
Swampert lost 18% of its health.
Swampert's leftovers restored its health a little!
Swampert restored 6% of its health.

It was a Weavile, I sent in Swampert, what more can I say? I was surprized by the 18%. I thought it would be higher... Either way, this left a primeopportunity to lay out the rocks.

---
Weavile used Night Slash.
Swampert lost 26% of its health.
Swampert used Stealth Rock.
Pointed stones float in the air around your foe's team!
Swampert's leftovers restored its health a little!
Swampert restored 6% of its health.

Still less than 50% damage on me! -_-

Either way, it was clear that he had absolutely no clue what set I was running, so I decided to leave a bid dent in that Weavile before he could.

---
Weavile used Night Slash.
Swampert lost 27% of its health.
Swampert used Earthquake.
Weavile lost 73% of its health.
Swampert's leftovers restored its health a little!
Swampert restored 6% of its health.

I pretty much knew that Weavile was going to switch out now. Choosing a move at this point was difficult, all I knew about his team here was absolutely nothing. I just went with EarthQuake, figuring I'd do more damage.

---
ACDCGAMER switched in Fleza (lvl 100 Azelf).
Pointed stones dug into Azelf.
Azelf lost 12% of its health.
Azelf makes ground moves miss with Levitate!
Swampert used Earthquake.
Swampert's attack missed!
Swampert's leftovers restored its health a little!
Swampert restored 6% of its health.

-_- 'nuff said.

This left me with only a few options to switch in, and since Lucario resists Swampert's only weakness, I thought it would be safe...

---
burnpsy switched in Spike (lvl 100 Lucario ?).
Azelf used Psychic. !?!?!?
Lucario lost 69% of its health.

He outpredicts me... At this point, Lucario was too weak to function too well, at least in my opinion, so I just let it faint...

---
Azelf used Psychic.
Lucario lost 31% of its health.
burnpsy's Spike fainted.
(5-5)

Well, that was completely useless... All that told me is that it didn't carry Grass Knot... It also leaves me with only one Pokemon that can get a super effective hit in, since it outspeeds as well, I send that in...

---
burnpsy switched in Graphix (lvl 100 Porygonz).
Porygonz's Download raised its stats!
Porygonz's special attack was raised.
Porygonz used Dark Pulse.
It's super effective!
A critical hit!
Azelf lost 88% of its health.
ACDCGAMER's Fleza fainted.
(5-4)

I fluked that Download but, but it seems useful enough, there's a KO. That just leaves me to hope he sends in something Dark-weak...

---
ACDCGAMER: Is that thing Scarfed?
burnpsy: ...I thought it'd be obvious...
ACDCGAMER: and another crit hack. XD
ACDCGAMER switched in Reaper (lvl 100 Dusknoir ?).
Dusknoir is exerting its pressure!
Pointed stones dug into Dusknoir.
Dusknoir lost 12% of its health.
Porygonz used Dark Pulse.
It's super effective!
Dusknoir lost 58% of its health.
Dusknoir used Will-o-wisp.
Porygonz was burned!
Porygonz was hurt by its burn!
Porygonz lost 12% of its health.
Dusknoir's leftovers restored its health a little!
Dusknoir restored 6% of its health.

At this point, he thinks he just lost... Making it feel safe to Dark Pulse again!

---
burnpsy: a perfect way for shoddy to welcome me back!
ACDCGAMER: Wow, I'm pretty much screwed
Porygonz used Dark Pulse.
It's super effective!
Dusknoir lost 36% of its health.
ACDCGAMER's Reaper fainted.
(5-3)
Porygonz was hurt by its burn!
Porygonz lost 12% of its health.

This seems to be falling in my favor, I'm sure I've taken down nearly all of his Dark resists, Weavile was all that was left and it wasn't exaclty in a position to devastate me...

---
ACDCGAMER: yep
ACDCGAMER switched in Assassin (lvl 100 Weavile ?).
Weavile is exerting its pressure!
Pointed stones dug into Weavile.
Weavile lost 25% of its health.
Porygonz used Dark Pulse.
It's not very effective...
Weavile lost 2% of its health.
ACDCGAMER's Assassin fainted.
(5-2) Yay!
Porygonz was hurt by its burn!
Porygonz lost 12% of its health.
---
ACDCGAMER switched in Super Nuke (lvl 100 Salamence ?).
Salamence's intimidate cut Graphix's attack!
Pointed stones dug into Salamence.
Salamence lost 25% of its health.
Porygonz used Dark Pulse.
Salamence lost 48% of its health.
Salamence used Outrage.
Salamence went on a rampage!
Porygonz lost 63% of its health.
burnpsy's Graphix fainted.
(4-2)

Nothing can stand a Nuke! Either way, I figured Dark Pulse would put a big enough dent for my slower pokemon to handle it, what I didn't expect was all of the dents it made, so much for my lead...

---
burnpsy: mice nickname!
burnpsy: *nice
ACDCGAMER: thanks
burnpsy switched in SWAMPERT (lvl 100 Swampert ?).
ACDCGAMER: My friend and I actually came up with it
ACDCGAMER: I used Salamence, and he used Garchomp in the battle tower
ACDCGAMER: and we spammed Earthquake a lot, so we called it Super Nuking
Salamence used Outrage.
Swampert lost 53% of its health.
burnpsy's SWAMPERT fainted.
(3-2)
Salamence's rampage ended.
Salamence became confused!
---
burnpsy switched in Glider (lvl 100 Gliscor ?).
Gliscor used Aerial Ace.
Salamence lost 24% of its health.
Salamence is confused!
Salamence used Dragon Dance. (Insert swear word here.)
Salamence's attack was raised.
Salamence's speed was raised.

Everything seemed hopeless, I rember thinking I was just going to lose... It seems I underestimated my little flying scorpion! It also only had 2% of its health remaining... I actually thought this was just going to be game...

---
Salamence snapped out of confusion!
Salamence used Outrage.
Salamence went on a rampage!
Gliscor lost 79% of its health.
Gliscor used Aerial Ace.
A critical hit!
Salamence lost 2% of its health.
ACDCGAMER's Super Nuke fainted.
(3-1)
Gliscor's leftovers restored its health a little!
Gliscor restored 6% of its health.

Nobody can serouly expect a scorpion to withstand a giant dragon's attack, Porygon-Z made that possible. This left me cheering, I had no doubt that I'd win as long as their last Pokemon was not Starmie, Suicune or Gyarados... My last Pokemon were Infernape and Vaporeon, Infernape had no chance if it was a Suicune Vaporeon would be able to just turn it into a stallfest and KO itself, They would both just fail. Gyarados had a 33% or so chance of surviving Infernape's ThunderPunch and OHKOing back, Vaporeon barely survives long enough to Haze 2 Dragon Dances before getting KO'd, not a good situation. Starmie just had to use Ice Beam on Gliscor, ThunderBolt on Vaporeon and Surf on Infernape and it would be done. It also outspeeds all but Infernape... Yep, if one of them came out, I'd just be...

---
ACDCGAMER switched in Starman (lvl 100 Starmie). ...screwed...
Pointed stones dug into Starmie.
Starmie lost 12% of its health.
Starmie used Ice Beam.
It's super effective!
Gliscor lost 27% of its health.
burnpsy's Glider fainted.
(2-1)
Starmie lost 10% of its health.

Did it have to be a Starmie? Either way, it did the expected knockout, let's move on...

---
burnpsy switched in VAPOREON (lvl 100 Vaporeon ?).
Starmie used Thunderbolt.
It's super effective!
Vaporeon lost 67% of its health.
Starmie lost 10% of its health.
Vaporeon used Toxic.
Vaporeon's attack missed!
---
Starmie used Thunderbolt.
It's super effective!
Vaporeon lost 33% of its health.
burnpsy's VAPOREON fainted.
(1-1)
Starmie lost 10% of its health.

-_- Another correct prediction... Since Starmie has slichtly more speed than Infernape, I stood no chance...

---
burnpsy: O.o
ACDCGAMER: Uh oh
burnpsy: You win!
ACDCGAMER: This is getting close!
burnpsy switched in INFERNAPE (lvl 100 Infernape ?).
ACDCGAMER: Ok, I think this might be a 50/50
ACDCGAMER: or a 60/40 in your favor
Infernape used Thunderpunch.
It's super effective!
Starmie lost 58% of its health.
ACDCGAMER's Starman fainted.
(1-0)
burnpsy wins!
ACDCGAMER: yep
ACDCGAMER: XD
burnpsy: I'm savin' the log!
ACDCGAMER: gg
ACDCGAMER: Me too
ACDCGAMER: gg man
ACDCGAMER: and welcome back

Wait, what, how, when? I didn't expect to outspeed it AND OHKO it...

This log was formatted using Warmachine Version 1.0

And there's another failure of a warstory...

ACDCGAMER's Team:

Props
  • Porygon-Z, for being awesome
  • Infernape, for dealing that last blow
  • ACDC's Salamence, for being named Super Nuke
  • Gliscor, for Surviving a DD outrage hit
Slops
  • Lucario, for dying so quickly
  • Metagross, for losing to a Crit Dark Pulse from a Pokemon with only a 3 as its Special Attack IV
  • Weavile, for not being able to do much damage at all...
Could someone explain to me exacly how people have paragraphs at the end of each turn?

Both the battle and the comments were mediocre at best. Have a better battle to comment on, and talk more about your thinking and methodology next time.

Please, please PLEASE remove the colours... They burn. make them less subtle colours, dark blues and dark greens do wonders.

Erm, don't you mean more subtle? :P

Anyways, I have to agree with Darth. The commentary was lackluster and the battle didn't really have anything interesting going on.

The battle and warstory were just... mediocore if not bad. The comments were actually lacking and the battle itself was dull >_>. I mean, it seem as if you two didn't clash at all, but, you just threw each other's Pokemon around hoping one would die.

For one, why did your opponent get a non Choice Banded Weavile in on a Swampert after it uses Stealth Rock? With that said, why was Weavile even staying in on Swampert in the first place knowing that Azelf could come in and smack it down?

Also, why was Lucario sacrificed (or switched in at all) when you had Vaporeon to take whatever Azelf could toss at it?

An Azelf using Psychic to KO a Swampert isn't overprediction in the least, neither is Starmie Thunderbolting a Vaporeon. Speaking of, a Modest, Life Orb Starmie isn't really anything to be happy to beat due to the facd that they're nearly useless and very rare >.>.

Gliscor surviving a +1 DD Outrage isn't surprising in the least...

You guys are too generous. This battle was simply revenge killing, no prediction, no show of skills or new creative team building. Everything about this is bad.

You should read the Warstories in the archive to have an idea of what kind of battles to pick when you decide to do one later on.

THE_IRON_...KENYAN?

Banned deucer.
Well since liking these are based solely on opinion, while it may be one of your average day battles I really liked it for the confidence you have showed my friend! I really did like the simplicity of your comments, while they might have been a tad too simple It is very nice for getting directed to all audiences ^_^

Perhaps it would be in your best interests to use darker colors when shading the specific players ^_^

I suggest just keeping that upbeat attitude of yours, and to keep having fun with pokemon ^_^

I thought the comments were ok but the battle was pretty lackluster. Next time try a battle with more successful prediction. Mispredicts aren't that fun to read.
