Intro

Hello everyone, it's me, Jetpack here with my first PU rmt. I struggle a lot with getting my thoughts out in an organized format, which is why i'm active on PS but not so much on smogon so bare with me here. I might be missing the official hype, but I digress. I have been playing PU since it's release, however I lurked in the shadows. Recently I have found myself within the PU community and could not be happier. One of the best tiered communities i've been a part of and the tier itself is also incredibly fun. If you're reading this looking for teams or are just curious about PU, play the tier! Now, on to the team..

Part one of my water spam "core". Floatzel is as great it's ever been, and to pair it up with Simipour for water spam I decided to run a banded set. Floatzels excellent speed and ability to have priority is very nice with this team, while it usually just spams Waterfall to weaken mons for Simipour to come in and Nasty sweep.

Part two of the water spam "core". Simipour, for the most part, is used as a win condition on this team. Using Floatzel to weaken her checks so she can come in and safely Nasty sweep. Simipours above average speed helps it stay active on the team as something other than a win condition.

My normal check, and rocker. Pretty standard mon, not really much to say. I enjoy this mon a lot and prefer Magnet Pull over Sturdy as Sturdy never really has a use for me while Magnet Pull has had some very minor use. Really, the ability hasn't changed much but i've preferred Magnet Pull since i've tried it.

The first mon I feel questionable with. Machoke is a excellent fighting mon and provides the support this team needs, however, with the recent retesting of Throh it seems more logical to fit that in here. I'm a bit skeptical to do so with the test still on-going. I run encore with Machoke to keep Pokemon such as Vigoroth from just setting up on my team and winning.

Similar to Probo, not really much to say. Standard Rose. Was considering adding more Special defensive EVs. Rose is fantastic for getting hazards up to help weaken mons for Floatzel and Simipour while also being a good pivot and check to many others.

My favorite Pigset, and probably one of my favorite mons in the entire tier. Fast taunt Pig is simply great in my opinion. Leading with Grumpig can be an excellent lead to keep rocks off the field and begin playing the battle from your control. Grumpig is also pretty bulky, with thick fat helping me take some fire and ice moves for Rose when needed. I chose Colbur Berry because I feel it is the best item for fast taunt to run. I've considered Leftovers, but have had pretty good success with Colbur Berry so far.

Hey Jetpack, cool team you got here, and grats on % :] (also wow no shoutout ;_;)

To begin with, I notice basically anything with Ground coverage is a huge threat to you. Pokemon like Golem can just click EQ against your team and almost guarantee a 2HKO unless Machoke is at or near full. Arbok is probably the biggest threat to this team though, since it can set up a Coil on Roselia with ease and proceed to OHKO your entire team. Grumpig is outsped and unable to live a Gunk Shot, Roselia is OHKOed by Gunk Shot, Machoke is 2HKOd by Gunk Shot and unable to do much back, Probo is OHKOed by EQ, you get the point. So I think to begin with, a good Ground resist is definitely needed. This is why I'm going to recommend you change Machoke --> Misdreavus. This is going to provide you with strong answers to almost any Ground in the tier and it helps to patch up some of your biggest weaknesses.

With this change you become really weak to SD Pawniard, even with Colbur Grumpig, so I'm going to recommend you change Probopass --> Defensive Stunfisk. Not only does the provide you with a Pawniard check, but also a strong check to AoA Monferno with U-turn, which is a bit annoying to your team, and a stop to Volt Switch.

Exeggutor gets a bit more annoying with this change since it can come in for free on Stunfisk, so I'm also going to recommend you change your Roselia spread to 80 HP / 252 SpA / 176 Spe, which will allow you to outspeed Exeggutor and OHKO it. With the change to this spread, I'm also going to recommend you change Giga Drain --> Leaf Storm. I personally think offensive is just the better Roselia set in this meta anyways, so you're not really missing out on much.

tl;dr

misdreavus.gif

Misdreavus @ Eviolite | Levitate
248 HP / 136 Def / 124 Spe | Timid
Foul Play / Will-O-Wisp / Taunt / Pain Split

stunfisk.gif

Stunfisk @ Leftovers | Static
248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpA
Stealth Rock / Earth Power / Discharge / Toxic

roselia.gif

Current Spread --> 80 HP / 252 SpA / 176 Spe
Giga Drain --> Leaf Storm

Hope I helped :toast:

Hey Jetpack
Decent team you got there, and I like the idea of Water-type spam in PU, but I think you can make some improvements. First of all I suggest you running Salac Berry + Substitute on Simipour. This change will make Simipour much more threatening and hard to revenge kill, which is key in an offensive metagame such as this one, as offensive teams will always carry a faster revenge killer than Simipour. Running Salac Berry + Substitute usually comports getting in range of Torrent, so you still get a considerable boost in power other than Nasty Plot, which can make you threatening even without having set up first. Plus, you don't really need Hidden Power Electric, you already got Roselia and Choice Band Floatzel to deal with other Water-types, while Life Orb synergyses badly because you also lack entry hazard control so Simipour gets worn down really easily, and just ends up not putting anything in work against well-built teams. Substitute could also be useful in playing Sucker Punch mind games with Pawniard, which can give you some trouble if Probopass gets worn down too much. Another optional change you could make is giving Air Balloon to Probopass, you lose out on some recovery, but Air Balloon gives you a better answer against Ground-types, which are annoying to your team, especially things such as Golem.

I like Dundies's idea of adding Defensive Misdreavus onto the team, but I would actually place it over Grumpig. Misdreavus works as your primarily Ground-check once Probopass gets its Air Balloon popped, but can also deal pretty well with things such as Bouffalant and other setup sweepers that tear through your team, given you have no physically defensive backbone, therefore constrict you to sac something and send in Floatzel as a sort of revengekiller after. Misdreavus also act as a better Anti-Lead than Grumpig, and is key to dealing with leads your team struggles with such as Golem. Will-O-Wisp support is also great to find even bigger set up opportunities with Simipour, given it also has good synergy with the usage of Substitute on the Simipour set. Misdreavus also has great synergy with Magnet Pull Probopass and the next Pokemon I'm going to suggest you, as they deal pretty easily with Pawniard.
Dulcis in fundo, replace Machoke with All-Out Attacker Monferno. First of all, Monferno will give you something that can revengekill Exeggutor reliably, which things such as Probopass and Misdreavus can't do. Then, Monferno has a good typing synergy with Water-types in general, and this fits your team perfectly given you play around Water-spam. Monferno can provide free switch-ins to Simipour thanks to the usage of U-Turn, and can create VoltTurn chains with Probopass, this synergyses also well with Spikes stacking by Roselia. Monferno also gives you an insurance against Stoutland, which you can't really deal with. Monferno also helps with Ice-types such as Regice since we replaced Grumpig with Misdreavus, and provides your team with a stronger priority, fundamental since you lack fast revengekillers, and the chip damage you can get off before dying can be appreciated by Simipour. Monferno is overall just a great fit into your team and provides way more utility than Machoke.

Hey cool team.

The first thing I see with it is that the team is quite slow for balance, as you don't have a way to revenge kill a Zebstrika/Electrode for example, which are very threatening for your offensive duo, and they can just easily volt switch out from counters without being very pressured. This is more of an issue with set up sweepers such as Gorebyss and Regice, as if a specific member of your team is weakened (roselia and grumpig/machoke repsectively) they can set up and sweep. To fix this I recommend using Choice Scarf Simipour over your current set. Although the team was built specifically with NP simipour, it just isn't very effective, as np 3 attacks is too slow to sweep in this offensive metagame, and Salac sets (although usually better) struggle with priority, which a lot of teams carry, and water-types which are still fairly common. Choice Scarf Simipour can still successfully abuse baiting that floatzel by spamming hydro pump late game.

I also think that Air Balloon would help on Probopass. Ik others have said it, but Probopass is very important very important for you as a normal-type check, so air balloon is crucial for you to dodge a fast probopass's earth power, among other ground hits.

I completely agree with Raiza that Monferno would be a very good replacement for Machoke, not only because the reasons he stated, but it also gives you a faster way of hitting normal-types hard. Both Stoutland and Bouffalant are big threats to this team, and Monferno can outspeed and OHKO both of them, unlike Machoke which has to be at high health to check them. Monferno is also a better Pawniard check, as machoke is easily warn down so it KOd by a +2 Iron Head if it takes a Knock Off on the switch.
