"You came to the wrong Dongerhood"
[OVERVIEW]
* Wobbuffet's unique combination of Shadow Tag + Encore, Counter, and Mirror Coat allows it to beat most offensive threats in the metagame.
* It has fantastic synergy with most setup sweepers in the tier.
* Its sky-high HP stat allows it to tank any hit in the game from full HP.
* Its poor defensive typing makes it unable to come in on powerful Ghost- and Dark-type moves.
* Due to its passive nature, Wobbuffet is often outclassed by the other Shadow Tag trappers in the tier since it's unable to accomplish much against more defensive teams.
* With Custap Berry being unreleased in Pokemon Sun and Moon, Wobbuffet lost its game-winning ability to fire off a priority Destiny Bond or Safeguard, which seriously hampers its effectiveness.

Moves
========
* Encore ensures that Wobbuffet isn't complete setup bait. It can lock the opposing Pokemon into a boosting move so that Wobbuffet may switch out to regain momentum. It also prevents opponents from outplaying Counter and Mirror Coat with mixed attackers.
* Counter and Mirror Coat are Wobbuffet's only form of damage output, but they work extremely well in combination with Wobbuffet's high HP stat, which causes most successful uses of these moves to be an OHKO.
* Safeguard allows Wobbuffet to shield its teammates from status. This move is especially useful for setting up Dragon Dance users since it grants them immunity to Prankster Thunder Wave and Toxic.
* Destiny Bond is another option for the fourth slot, allowing Wobbuffet to threaten to KO the attacker after their next move. It's not as useful as it once was, but it's noteworthy for being the only way to touch Darkrai and specially offensive Yveltal.
Set Details
========
* Leftovers gives Wobbuffet slightly more longevity and allows it to do its job better if it needs to switch into entry hazards.
* The HP and Special Defense investment allows Wobbuffet to take a +2 Moonblast from Xerneas without Stealth Rock up. If Stealth Rock is up, Wobbuffet can come in at full HP on Xerneas's Geomancy turn and always live the +2 Moonblast after Leftovers recovery. The rest is put towards physical bulk.
* A nature and no attack IVs minimize Foul Play and confusion damage.
Usage Tips
========
* Wobbuffet thrives on hyper offense teams that aim to weaken or remove checks to a powerful setup sweeper.
* While it's tempting to send Wobbuffet in on any attack that could otherwise put you in an awkward position, remember that Wobbuffet should be used to trap the biggest threat to your wincon. If you carelessly send in Wobbuffet, you can lose your chance to do anything meaningful with it due to its lack of recovery.
* Some examples of utilizing a Wobbuffet to its fullest potential include removing a Xerneas in order to crush the opposing team with Yveltal or using Encore on a Primal Groudon to lock it into Precipice Blades and set up a Dragon Dance with Mega Salamence.
* Wobbuffet should avoid status moves such as Toxic by any means possible. In matchups against bulkier teams, however, it may be worth it to Encore the enemy into such moves, then set up a Safeguard so that you can freely set up or attack without worrying about being afflicted with the status condition.
Team Options
========
* Wobbuffet should nearly always be paired with offensive Pokemon. Threatening setup sweepers such as Xerneas, Mega Salamence, and Arceus pair well with Wobbuffet, as they appreciate its ability to lock enemy Pokemon into moves or remove their checks.
* Xerneas is an especially popular Pokemon to use in combination with Wobbuffet, as its Fairy typing allows it to come in on Yveltal, which completely walls Wobbuffet.
* A sturdy Dark-type like Yveltal can help punish Ghost-type attackers that try to take advantage of Wobbuffet's typing.
* Healing Wish users such as Shaymin-S allow Wobbuffet to make use of its bulk twice in a match.
[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
* Sitrus and Aguav Berry can restore 25% or 50% health, respectively, if Wobbuffet's HP drops low enough, but this healing can be inconsistent (especially Aguav Berry's).
* Wobbuffet can hold a Kasib Berry to ensure that it can take a +2 Shadow Force from Extreme Killer Arceus and fire off a very unexpected Counter in response.
* Alternatively, Wobbuffet can hold a Colbur Berry to ensure that it doesn't lose a large amount of HP from Deoxys-A's Knock Off as well as Choice Band Yveltal's Knock Off. However, given that most Dark-type attackers use special attacks and are immune to Mirror Coat, this is worthless a lot of the time.
* If your team is more scared of physical powerhouses like Mega Salamence, a physically defensive spread may be used if you already have a solid check to Geomancy Xerneas.
Checks and Counters
===================
**Passive Pokemon**: Wobbuffet cannot do much in these matchups besides hope for a good use of Encore, since they are packed with ways of dealing indirect damage to Wobbuffet. Mega Sableye is especially annoying, being immune to Counter, Mirror Coat, Encore, and Shadow Tag.
**Dark-type Pokemon**: Due to Wobbuffet's typing, Dark-types can smack it very hard with powerful STAB moves. In addition, a lot of specially offensive Dark-types such as Yveltal, Arceus-Dark, and Darkrai are unaffected by Mirror Coat and can attack Wobbuffet without fear.
**Ghost-type Pokemon**: Ghost-types cannot be trapped by Shadow Tag and have a powerful typing that is immune to Counter, giving Wobbuffet a horrible matchup against physical attackers of the type like Arceus and Giratina-O. Any Mega Gengar set with Taunt or Substitute can also be problematic.
**Pokemon with Taunt**: While Taunt only has 32 PP to Counter and Mirror Coat's combined 64 PP, users of the move with Pressure like Mewtwo can stall said moves out, while setup Pokemon with Taunt can use Wobbuffet's helplessness to boost up.
**Status-inducing Moves**: Toxic users such as Klefki, Groudon, and Lugia as well as Will-O-Wisp users like Arceus can simply spam their status move against Wobbuffet until it goes down. However, Safeguard allows Wobbuffet to lock these Pokemon into their status moves and switch out to something else, giving the Wobbuffet user a free turn.
