XY NU Team - RMT

Brawlfest, you'd best be all over this one. So basically, I saw XY NU came out and I imported my Gen 5 team made a team to use in the tier. So here it is. I've done 4 battles with this team tried and tested it completely!

Zaubervogel (Xatu) @ Life Orb
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 32 HP / 252 SAtk / 8 SDef / 216 Spd
Timid Nature
- Grass Knot
- Heat Wave
- Psychic
- Roost
I love Xatu. It's such a great Pokemon, and can put out tons of damage. This set gives it a ton of options, and Roost is for LO recovery. Magic Bounce completely "LOL NOPEs" Regirock, Garbodor and other setters and the EV spread allows it to outspeed many things in the tier. Oh, and Heat Wave checks dat Venomoth.

stanzen roboterMage (Golurk) @ Choice Band
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 80 HP / 252 Atk / 176 Spd
Serious Nature
- Drain Punch
- Ice Punch
- Earthquake
- Shadow Punch
I used this a ton in Gen 5 NU, and it's won me tons of games. Band Golurk is great, and so is AV (but I don't use that). Three of its moves gain an Iron Fist boost, and E-Quake gets STAB and Band boost and is enough to pop a Bastiodon's Sturdy. Shadow Punch gets great STAB and covers dat Venomoth somewhat, and Ice Punch covers those pesky Flying types that everyone seems to have.

der fels (Regirock) @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 240 HP / 252 Atk / 16 Spd
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Stone Edge
- Drain Punch
- Thunder Wave
Another importee, Regirock is great. It reaches 400+ defense and can wall the mightiest of attacks. It resists the Flying types that run rampant in the tier and serves as my rocks. Stone Edge covers dat Venomoth and Scyther (but lol, Scyther) and Drain Punch gives it recovery beyond recovery and deals some damage to Bastiodon. The EVs let it Speed Creep other Regirock and Thunder Wave hinders Sawk and other physical attackers. Also, I can't get enough of that gif.

Tod der Maus (Emolga) @ Leftovers
Ability: Static
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Tailwind
- Nuzzle
- U-turn
- Roost
I was so hyped to use this. And the hype paid off. This sneaky squirrel helps set up the rest of its teammates to go super fast with Tailwind and uses Nuzzle as an untauntable Thunder Wave to hinder physical attackers and cover dat Venomoth. It's the fastest user of Nuzzle in the tier, so that's a plus. U-Turn lets it switch out without a Golem or Golurk or some other ground type hindering its effectiveness, and Roost is for it takes some damage. Can be replaced with Encore.

Kanwe ist Scheiße (Kangaskhan) (F) @ Silk Scarf
Ability: Scrappy
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Double-Edge
- Sucker Punch
- Fake Out
- Earthquake
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's a Kangaskhan! Another imported Pokemon, this has served me so well in Gen 5. Silk Scarf empowers Double-Edge so much it becomes a clean 2HKO on almost any Pokemon alongside Fake Out. Earthquake is for secondary STAB, and Sucker Punch is for even more priority. As for dat Venomoth, Double Edge cleans it up.

hässliche Hure (Jynx) (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Modest Nature
- Calm Mind
- Lovely Kiss
- Draining Kiss
- Psychic
Remember when this thing was banned? Ahhhh...
Anyways, Jynx is a great Pokemon all-around. If Lovely Kiss hits, you have a guaranteed setup turn that you can lead into a Psychic for dat Venomoth. If you get hit for damages, Draining Kiss gives Jynx a lot of recovery. That's all there is to it...

you have trouble with many common offensive pokemon such as carracosta, doublade, physically-based virizion, durant, and omastar. they don't have an easy time coming in safely against most of your pokemon, but any opportunity they get means that you'll have to sacrifice something, have one of your checks greatly weakened, or just get cleaned out. if you run choice scarf on jynx, you can easily revenge kill most of these threats which makes them easier to manage

emolga is also pretty deadweight because its sole purpose is to support the team with tailwind which it can't abuse itself and it doesn't really last long enough for its worth. poliwrath can work here instead because now you have an easier time against durant, carracosta, and doublade, and it also gives you an emergency fire-type check since they usually carry coverage moves to beat regirock. scald will prevent the specific pokemon i mentioned from achieving much

poliwrath @ leftovers, relaxed nature, 248 hp / 252 def / 8 spa, rest / sleep talk / scald / circle throw

this still leaves you with no reliable way to handle virizion outside of revenge killing with only one pokemon, so you could either run something more reliable over golurk like doublade. or you could maintain a quicker offense by using durant > golurk or stealth rock archeops > regirock so you have yet another thing that can force virizion out to make it easier to wear down in conjunction with jynx and maybe kangaskhan

whether or not you decide to go with choice scarf on jynx, timid nature is crucial on it given the speed tier it sits at, so make sure you change its nature. draining kiss is also really useless when psychic and ice beam is already great coverage (and focus blast rounds it out for the most part on the scarf set). i assume the serious nature on golurk was a mistake as well. and finally, regirock should consider running earthquake over drain punch to chip some damage on doublade instead of giving it an absolutely free opportunity

OMG I GOT THAT BIG SHOUTOUT FIRST SENTENCE LEL. Alright the Brawlfest is here. Overall the team is pretty weak to Fire Spam, as it gets past Regirock pretty easy and proceeds to 6-0 the team. On top of this the team is very water weak despite having Jynx, and overall falls to these two alone. This said, the team is very well constructed, and but like many others the most significant weakness you have is to Ghost and Dark types, making your team fall quite easily.

Surprisingly, one fix changes all, and Ium made a good suggestion with Poliwrath. This said, Resttalk is not the way to go with this specific team. It is setup fodder for anything that has Sub and resists Circle Throw, and frankly loses a shit ton of momentum for the team. Instead the correct option in my opinion is SubPunch Poliwrath which as a amazing Dark, Fire and Water resist for your team. On top of this, it acts as a great offensive stallbreaker, and allows for less opportunities for the opponent to sweep you.

Minor Changes:
Jynx: What the fuck is this set. I expected better. 252 Speed > 252 HP Obviously, and just use Nasty Plot + Ice Beam > Draining Kiss and Calm mind..

Poliwrath @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 Atk / 160 HP / 96 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Waterfall
- Focus Punch
- Ice Punch / Bulk Up / Toxic
- Substitute

quick rate because i can

You are 6-0'd by Virizion

If Doublade sets up (which trust me, isnt hard against your team) you are 6-0'd

Feraligatr and Samurott can also do a lot of work against you

.. and that's just at first glance.

Brawlfest how can you argue that he shouldn't use RestTalk Poliwrath (which imo covers waters/durant/doublade better (thanks to scald!)) when the OP himself use something that lose even more momentum (Regirock) lol. not saying your set is bad (it looks cool!) but I think your set needs a second answer to the threats the team has to function properly

Anyway;

I would run Rhydon over Regirock: It has similar bulk, and unlike Regirock, is also strong offensively and has the ever so good EdgeQuake :)

Rhydon @ Eviolite
Ability: Lightningrod
EVs: 48 Atk / 248 HP / 108 Def / 104 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Rock Blast
- Earthquake
- Roar

EVs are just to survive a CB Adamant Close Combat from Sawk and OHKO back with Earthquake if necessary. (Feel free to use a different spread)

I would also run Poliwrath over Emolga. I personally prefer ium 's spread with Protect+Toxic over RestTalk, but your team really needs a Water/Durant switch-in so RestTalk is most likely superior here.

Finally, Virizion is a THREAT, and would need you to change either Golurk, Jynx, or Kangaskhan. I don't want to change everything from the original team though, since otherwise it would become mine (lol), but feel free to try some Pokemon able to deal with Virizion well (and the other Pokemon that could be problematic), such as Doublade, Durant, Scarf Fire-types (Magmortar, Typhlosion), Poison-types such as Roselia or Muk, or even Sneasel :). (NU Beta just came out anyway, you should take your time to try out everything)!

Hope I helped :)
