I'm Krauersaut, and before you ask, I am NOT German. I do, however, enjoy sauerkraut. I'm an Ubers player predominantly, but dabble in Overused, DOU and LC as well. It's been a year and a half since I first joined this website, which is a bit scary to think about. Time flew by, and I've come a long way from my first innocent shitposting days.... what? I haven't? What do you mean I haven't?

*wins vs steelphoenix in XY ubers release tournament, goes 43-2 on ladder, becomes a tutor, wins vs Aim in UPL, thinks he's hot shit

*loses to, in chronological order:

- keeping in ferrothorn vs fire blast palkia w/ aim
- vileman sticky webs
- antacool pu tr
- vileman sticky webs again
- fireburn head smash aegislash
- n00b flame body double mega
- benbe
- iris
- benbe
- iris
- fireburn hyper beam arceus
- mono bug team
- zf toxic reshiram and mandibuzz special
- lead greninja
- gets bop'd by donfuga r1 of UU Open
- loses 2 times consecutively in double elimination Ubers Seasonal
- building teams with roar and trick room
- goes 0-13 in a series of bo3s

*above list courtesy of everyone in Ubers room pitching in to find everything I've done wrong in the last 6 months*

Ok, maybe I'm not quite a Model User™ yet. But I've come far, and I'd like to thank everyone that helped me on my way. As such, this RMT's dualing as my 1000th post on Smogon, and a giant shoutout to the friends I've made along the way. Now, enough sentimental shit. Onto the RMT!

This team was originally made to ladder with, and it did that fantastically, peaking PS! ladder and breaking top 5 of PO's within 24 hours of starting. I've got two versions of this team, one the autonomous "Yellow Flicker Beat", which I brought week one vs Wreckdra in POCL. Sadly, I lost (turn 1 burn + triple crit x_x), but it wasn't a testament to how good the team is. The other variation of the team, "Titanium" (you may be noticing a pattern here), Tricking, a primarily LC player, brought to the Ubers Seasonal vs Mr.378, a known Ubers player, and dismantled his ass won with it. I view both teams as more or less equal with their different strengths, but this RMT will focus moreso on Yellow Flicker Beat. Without further ado -

Yellow Flicker Beat aims to absolutely annihilate stall, where Titanium takes a slightly more measured approach. Both feature lead Excadrill, an underrated Pokemon in ORAS that more or less ensures that a) you get Stealth Rocks up and b) you keep Stealth Rocks off. The rest of the team is built off of Deo-A and Kangaskhan-Mega respectively, tailoring to their needs. Both teams' ultimate goal is to take advantage of the hazard control provided by Excadrill to rip gaping holes in any and every stall build. The main difference between the two teams is Deo-A and Kangaskhan, Xerneas, and Arceus. Yellow Flicker Beat features Geomancy Xerneas and Lum Berry Arceus, where Lum Berry is used to beat Darkrai leads. Titanium uses Scarf Xerneas and Life Orb Arceus, offering more solidity vs Darkrai and a more consistent offensive mon in Kangaskhan-Mega > Deo-A, but could lose the hazard game to a Supportceus lead. As for personal preference, I thoroughly enjoy mowing through teams with Deo-A, so I prefer to use Yellow Flicker Beat. Deo-A is one of those mons that has the "oh shit" effect - when you see it in Team Preview, you instantly lose any psychological advantage you thought you had, because this thing is a fucking glass cannon that nobody prepares for. To try and be equal, PuP Mega Kangaskhan is a forgotten threat, and it has what I've been calling the "jibaku vs evuelf effect" of being not prepared for anymore. At +2, this thing OHKO's PDon, Salamence-Mega and, after Stealth Rocks, Lugia. LUGIA. Anyway, the main focus of this RMT is the one on the title, Yellow Flicker Beat. The team originally had Darkrai over Xerneas, but this left me with a crippling Yveltal weakness. The sheer nuking capabilities of PDon | Mence | Xern | Ekiller | Deo-A on a single team are cataclysmic, which makes this team such a blast to use. The insurance of Stealth Rocks while your side of the game is free of them is often a deciding factor in the outcome of the game, particularly so against Stall teams (which, by the way, the team tears open a new one). On the defensive side of the spectrum, it's surprisingly functional - PDon, Salamence-Mega and Xerneas check between them a large portion of metagame threats, and EKiller's bulky spread allows it to set up at virtually any time, turning a situation inside out.

excadrill.gif

this is the start (Excadrill) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Toxic - bops Supportceus, Lati@s switch ins and Giratina-O
- Rapid Spin - hazard removal
- Earthquake - powerful STAB that hits even more things thanks to Mold Breaker

Excadrill serves as the superior Deoxys-Speed on this team. One irksome thing about standard HO in ORAS is that because of its prelevance and sheer power, you'll run into several mirror matchups using it, where the game is decided by a series of 50/50s. Excadrill nullifies that, always winning vs Deoxys formes and simultaneously keeping hazards off (if the opponent lacks a Ghost type. If you see one, or can assume they're packing Arceus-Ghost, more strategic plays are required.) Mold Breaker is chosen to beat Magic Bounce, and even smack things with Levitate, such as the Eon twins. If you see an opposing Klefki, be sure to play this thing wisely - it gets a free switch in on the car keys.

deoxys-attack.gif

of how it all ends (Deoxys-Attack) @ Life Orb
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 20 Atk / 252 SpA / 236 Spe
Rash Nature
- Psycho Boost - hiroshima
- Ice Beam - optimal coverage
- Superpower - ^
- Knock Off - ^

This thing destroys worlds. Like, if Pokemon was Final Fantasy VI, this dude's Kefka. Psycho Boost is self explanatory, Ice Beam is optimal coverage (2hko's Mega Sableye, OHKO's Mence even at -2), Superpower smacks Darkrai, Tyranitar, Dialga and any EKiller foolish enough to try to set up, and from there, it was a toss up between Knock Off and Extremespeed. Both have their uses, but Knock Off is more commonly useful, so that's what I opted for. The EV spread outpaces Mewtwo pre mega evolution to Y, which is all Deo-A needs to do. You could run +Spe -SpD, but the drop in power is significant.

groudon-primal.gif

shout my name (Groudon-Primal) @ Red Orb
Ability: Desolate Land
EVs: 252 Atk / 88 Def / 168 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Rock Polish - best used when facing a faster, more offensive team
- Swords Dance - best used when facing a slower, more defensive team
- Precipice Blades - STAB option that hits absurdly hard
- Stone Edge - perfect coverage move that smacks Lugia

Double Dance PDon. The set is completely standard, with enough speed EVs to outpace no investment Lugia and most GeoXerns. Along with Salamence-Mega, these are the team's only checks to Primal Kyogre, but the only thing Primal Kyogre's coming in on is a -2 SpA Deoxys-A, so it's not that big of a deal. The remaining 88 EVs are slotted into defense, because they're too insignicant to have an impact in SpD, and it helps cushion priority blows just that much, which is invaluable to a team weak to priority (such as this one).

xerneas.gif

whisper it (Xerneas) @ Power Herb
Ability: Fairy Aura
EVs: 200 Def / 252 SpA / 56 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Geomancy - the hallmark nuts set-up move
- Aromatherapy / Ingrain - anti-status/phaze option, though you could opt for a 3rd coverage move
- Focus Blast - optimal coverage in current meta
- Moonblast - STAB backed by fairy aura is nuts

The Kyogre of XY, Xerneas is used on this team over the original possessor of this slot, Darkrai, to avoid an otherwise crippling weakness to Yveltal. It's standard GeoXern, although in my POCL match, I opted for Ingrain, because Wreckdra likes Roar PDon. The EV spread here is NOT the one I use, because that would give away A Little Too Much about my building. When using this team, Xerneas is quite often what makes or breaks the game, because it serves as a) an EKiller check and b) a Klefki/PDon lure. A well timed double switch could win you the game, but let this get too weak, and you're in trouble.

salamence-mega.gif

red orange yellow (Salamence) @ Salamencite
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance - mega rayquaza v2
- Roost - recovery from weak priority moves, rock/ice/electric type moves and/or recoil
- Earthquake - optimal coverage, could run Facade to laugh at teams with supportceus as only mence check
- Double-Edge - pearl harbor

This is the closest thing we have to Mega Rayquaza. The ridiculous offensive (and on some teams, even defensive) prowess of Salamence-Mega is not one to be taken lightly. At +1, this dismantles almost everything in the tier save Skarmory, huge defense investment Supportceus, resists, defensive variants of itself and PDon. I've opted for a Jolly nature as opposed to Adamant, although I wouldn't recommend that for most teams. The sole reason for it on this team is an otherwise significant hole to be exploited by Stone Edge Jolly LO EKiller, and this gives me the chance to at least speed tie it and knock a hole in it.

arceus.gif

flicker beat (Arceus) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Multitype
EVs: 200 HP / 252 Atk / 56 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance - man i wish it got nasty plot. but this works ;]
- Extreme Speed - what makes this set so devastating, hard hitting +2 priority move
- Stone Edge - smacks Lugia, Salamence, Physdef Ho-Oh to name a few. Could viably opt for Shadow Force, but read below
- Earthquake - optimal coverage

Sasha the Master ! enlightened me to Lum Berry Arceus while we were building a SmashPass team, and I've been (ab)using it since. EV spread outspeeds Adamant Rayquaza while maximizing general bulk, and Stone Edge is opted for instead of Shadow Force for more consistency against a) Salamence-Mega and b) teams with Normal + Ghost that can just switch in and out and in and out and ugh e.e I dislike that this is the team's only countermeasure to Darkrai, but that's what has to be sacrificed for the sheer offensive presence each of the mons on this team has on the field. Setting up on a Darkrai is immensely satisfying. ;]

It's been one hell of a 1 and 1/2 years, and I'm looking forward to another couple. All cheese and cringe aside, I've matured as a player and a person during my time on this website, and made friends that have drawn me out of my shell. My personality on here is nothing even remotely close to mine IRL, so this website and the people on it are a vent for me, and a welcome one. I appreciate every single one of you for being apart of my still-young life, and look forward to many great experiences to come. Stay classy :]

tennisace & RBG: The very first people who gave me a chance. thanks for everything and putting up with me during my bitchy moods, it means more than you know :]

Fireburn: I legitimately can't tell whether or not you hate me or like me, but assuming it's the latter, I <3 you too :D You need to get Skype badly though, you prehistoric turkey.

Sweep: Another one that's put up with me while bitchy. Thanks for always being there to bounce ideas off of, and for me to make Jim Parsons jokes about. (sun)

steelphoenix: As cringe-worthy as this is going to be, we're not that different. We both come to the internet as a safe haven, we both crave the natural high from doing well at this game we've wasted so many hours on, we both appreciate decent music (although you on a far higher octave than I *ba dum tss*), and even though we seem to hit a whole bunch of potholes and speed bumps, I can't help but respect you. Which irks me. But who knows, maybe one day soon, we'll figure it out.

Haruno: The angel of Ubers. You're a walking joke, and I mean that in the most loving way possible - it's hilarious to be around you, and your positivity rubs off on others.

Genesis7: <3 you bro

dice: Hoooooooo boy. You were the first mentor figure I ever had, and I did and still do look up to you. Past my blatantly obvious dicksucking, I truly do admire you as a player and, beyond that, a person. You're terrible at league though. ;]

Hack: Similarly to Dice, you've been a mentor of sorts to me for the longest time, and I appreciate that. I still feel bad for the time I abused your trust :x Thanks for always being open to bounce ideas off of, rate teams and help me develop as a player.

Mr.378: IT'S NOT 50-20 YOU FUCKING ASSHOLE

ZoroarkForever: I miss you fam.

Astounded: Arsenal(red9). What a long way we've come, huh? I can easily see you in SPL7 at the rate you're going. Keep it up and you're bound to suceed :]

Level 56: thanks for the hundreds of teamtests lmao

Lord Outrage: When we first met, you hated me and I hated you. You were a complete BITCH. Now, I'm proud to call you one of my best friends on here. It's been immensely satisfying to see you overcome your anger issues and grow into a force to be reckoned with in the tournament scene. See you in Open finals :^]

shrang: i love you man. You're the human equivalent of a whoopee cushion, and I've got so many nursing jokes I can't wait to bust out.

Stratos: where the FUCK are this man's tier leaders? >:|

polop: the first person to ever voice me. if only you were here to see me now :]

Arcticblast: another joy to be around. hilarious and your dry sense of humor matches mine, although I still don't understand monty python. x_x

Clone: My fellow badgewhore and content powerhouse, who also happens to be an abject ginger. You knew I'd say it. Don't deny it.

@Hannahh~: cutest user on showdown <3

metaphysical: lol ur aids

Prague Kick & Asuya: thanks for taking a leap of faith, I won't let you down!

Finchinator: cute manager that makes bad power rankings ;]

jrp: (puke)

yohoE: amg it's yohoE xDDDD We hit a rough patch, but came out of it. Love you, queen bee ,3

Always!: literally the only reason i'm doing this BLT thing is cause you asked me to x_x

Reverb: You've always been there to help when I needed it, which I appreciate more than you know. Thanks for all the help and support you've given me :]

fingerscrossed: <3 u bbg

Bluwing: you've scarred me for life. my adolescent mind is not ready for the pillaging that is your description of sex...

Vileman: VILEMEMES I LOVE YOU OMG <3333

Jrp: (puke) again

hyw: henri wang. we've playtested together so many times it's not even fucking funny. you're hilarious but also scarily edgy. you're obviously a 13 sided-polygon hentai loving japanese new yorker, because only with that many sides can there be that many edges.

aim: Lol when you coming back bro?

n00b: cyka blyat. filho de puta madre. (BAN ME PLEASE)

Iris: A true friend and another mentor figure. You're the kind of guy people KNOW is intelligent by the way you speak and act. I hope your writing career takes off.

Muk: words do not adequately describe whatever our relationship is lol

malefic: beast of a player, where you been?

Monsters of Men: ^^ Come back buddy <3

I guess that's it. I'm SO sorry if I missed any of you, I love you all (except bombarrows. fuck them.)

Since you are a nice player already, I wont give you the same rate format as I give to other people. I would just like to tell you more about Excadrill lead builds however.
Excadrill is bait to many Pokemon as opposed to Deoxys-S. Sure it has other advantages but Excadrill leads always need some kind of defensive backbone. Lets say Salamence with Refresh and more dangerously with Substitute maybe comes in on or leads versus Excadrill and sets up. If you wanna throw Stealth Rock it will go to +2 and destroy you. If you outright leave to your own Salamence to handle it, you lose it in the process which opens up for other sweepers later and make you lose momentum.
Same with lets say Aromatherapy Xerneas, Rest Talk Defensive Xerneas or even without Aroma. With no bulk on Primal Groudon it might sweep or kill two to three Pokemon.
I feel Excadrill lead needs a defensive backbone to function well and on the high level. Just felt like telling you this and thanks for the shoutout ;]

Yeah, on my actual version of the team with all the proper EV spreads, Groudon's EV'd to live a +2 Focus Blast after Stealth Rocks. TY for the rate ;]

Hey Krauersaut,

Congratulations on your 1k. You asked me for a rate on PS! so here we go! It's a pretty solid build as I would expect; Excadrill is a pretty cool lead that matches up nicely against the Mega Sableye + Waterceus + Lugia cores that are rising in popularity. Outrage mentioned the downside, which is that it lacks a way to prevent opposing setup, which can put you in a bad position since your team aims to keep momentum and break bulky teams, not quite as much to deal with offensive threats. However, adding a complete defensive backbone to a HO team like this without changing the build and function of the team is not possible. This is why the fix is more found in smaller changes that give the team last-ditch ways to deal with threats, for example, the Primal Groudon spread that you alluded to in your post.

Primal Groudon, Xerneas, Extreme Killer Arceus, and Mega Salamence are all pretty standard, but opting for Deoxys-A over Darkrai leaves you a bit weaker to Ghost Arceus, which also spinblocks vs Excadrill. To remedy this issue, I think you could run Refresh Extreme Killer Arceus on this team, which gives you a soft check for Ghost Arceus. As a side effect, you gain a stronger Extreme Speed (unless you want to run Refresh with Lum Berry for whatever reason), but you lose the ability to set up on Darkrai. I think this trade-off is worth it most of the time, especially since you have Aromatherapy Xerneas in the back. That's probably the main change I'd make. Another thing that crossed my mind was Extreme Speed on Deoxys-A which gives it the ability to revenge kill vs offense, but Knock Off has a lot of uses which include preventing Xerneas from setting up, so it is not something that I would be quick to change.

Arceus @ Silk Scarf
Ability: Multitype
EVs: 200 HP / 252 Atk / 56 Spe || 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature || Jolly Nature
- Refresh
- Swords Dance
- Extreme Speed
- Shadow Claw

I know you probably don't need the set, but I included both an Adamant one and a Jolly one; Jolly has a niche here in that it at worst speed ties and can escape a burn from Ghost Arceus on the turn it faints.
Good luck!

Apparently my likes aren't good enough for Krauer.

Either way, you need a better Darkrai checking method when using sashdrill, otherwise your team is HO without rocks or a prayer of succeeding vs competent offensively based teams with the scariest match up being bulky offense with Darkrai. I will back what Haxiom said and say that you NEED a boosting item on E-Killer because of sashdrill being Ho-Oh bait and faster banded variant getting very significant damage on Groudon with sun-boosted Sacred Fire. After Groudon takes this damage, your only hope against Geoxern is an unboosted E-Speed after something else damages it which is not a good look when E-Speed is tickling Xerneas. I would even go ahead and say always run E-Speed on Deo-A just for extra Xerneas assurance and I really dont see what Knock Off is doing. If it is hitting the Eons, then Ice Punch > Beam might not be a bad idea to experiment with. As far as Darkrai answers go, you are kinda stuck with an awkward 'run ScarfXern' deal which actually sorta works with a boosting item on E-Killer. Happy experimenting.

The team is also weak to Ho-Oh crits but makes up for it nicely with Earthquake crits from Salamence. Grats on you 1k bro.
