[OVERVIEW]

Electric
========

* Zapdos's typing, bulk, and invaluable immunity to Ground make it an excellent defensive pivot to use on Electric teams.
* It is the only entry hazard remover that the type has access to.
* It has access to reliable recovery in Roost, allowing it to keep its health up while tanking hits.
* Access to Heat Wave makes it a great check to Steel-types that Electric teams struggle with like Excadrill, Ferrothorn, and Magearna.
* Pressure is an excellent ability for a Defogger, as it allows Zapdos to PP stall Stealth Rock if it's set up again and again on it.
* However, its typing leaves it weak to Stealth Rock, limiting the number of times that it can switch into attacks and remove hazards.
* Without investment, Zapdos's Defense isn't amazing, so it's prone to being KOed by strong physical attackers like Victini and Mega Garchomp.
* It is prone to being setup fodder for Pokemon like Gliscor, Landorus-T, and Mega Garchomp due to underwhelming offensive presence and usual lack of status moves.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

* Volt Switch allows Zapdos to bring in a teammate safely after removing entry hazards or taking damage.
* Roost is a reliable source of recovery and lets Zapdos keep its health up during the battle, which is especially important for switching into Stealth Rock. It also lets Zapdos use Defog safely and continue tanking attacks from the opposing team, being able to switch into the likes of Hydreigon, Alakazam, and most other special attackers that can only hit it neutrally.
* Defog allows Zapdos to clear up any annoying hazards, mostly Stealth Rock, that hinder an Electric-type team's ability to pivot often.
* Heat Wave gives Zapdos a way of hitting Steel-types like Excadrill, Ferrothorn, and Bisharp as well as Grass-types like Breloom and Tapu Bulu.

Set Details
========

* 108 EVs in Speed allow Zapdos to outspeed Pokemon with base 70 Speed and a speed-boosting nature such as Jolly Bisharp as well as Timid Magearna, allowing Zapdos to switch into Twinkle Tackle and recover its health with Roost to survive a Fleur Cannon.
* 16 EVs in Defense let Zapdos always survive a Sucker Punch from Jolly Life Orb Bisharp after a Swords Dance.
* The remaining EVs are put into HP and Special Defense to increase its overall bulk and allow it to tank hits more effectively.
* Leftovers give it passive recovery over time, increasing its longevity.
* Pressure is useful for stalling out PP on attacking moves that have low PP, such as Fire Blast and Hydro Pump. It also allows Zapdos to stall out Stealth Rock if it is set up repeatedly against it.
* An alternative spread of 252 HP / 192 SpD / 64 Spe may be used to invest more in its Special Defense while still outspeeding Timid Magearna and Adamant Diggersby.

Usage Tips
========

* Zapdos may be sent it against Pokemon that do not threaten it such as Hippowdon, Pelipper, Magnezone, and Mega Scizor. Said Pokemon don't have much to threaten Zapdos with, providing opportunities to remove entry hazards or preserve momentum with Volt Switch.
* If Stealth Rock is being set up, Zapdos may switch in on the same turn to avoid having to switch in and take Stealth Rock damage later on. It exerts Pressure upon switching in as well, causing the target to lose more PP while setting Stealth Rock up. However, it must not attempt to use Defog against a Pokemon that threatens it with super effective moves.
* Although it is weak to Stealth Rock, Zapdos can switch in and Defog them away against a slower Pokemon.
* Zapdos should use Roost whenever possible to keep its health up and allow it to switch in again later on in the battle.
* Zapdos can switch in relatively easily against Excadrill, as if Excadrill goes for Rock Slide, it is then trapped and walled by Magnezone, since most Excadrill tend to run a Choice item.
* Whenever against a Pokemon that has a good matchup against Zapdos, Volt Switch should be used to bring in a teammate that can check the opposing Pokemon safely.
* Pressure allows Zapdos to stall out special attackers like Magearna with Roost, making it a good switch-in to them.
* If the opponent has an Electric-immune Pokemon, care should be taken when choosing to use Volt Switch, as it would be an easy switch-in for said Pokemon.
* However, if the opposing Pokemon threatens to KO Zapdos, it would be a better idea to immediately switch out into a more appropriate check, as Zapdos's bulk can come in useful later on in the battle.
* Zapdos must be kept away from Toxic, as it hinders its longevity immensely, prevents it from continuously keeping its health up with Roost, and eventually forces it to switch out.

Team Options
========

* Zapdos fits on almost any Electric team due to its ability to pivot in and remove entry hazards efficiently.
* Rotom-W forms an excellent defensive core with Zapdos; it is a good defensive check to physical attackers like Garchomp and Landorus-T with Will-O-Wisp, is able to threaten Ground- and Rock-types with Hydro Pump, and can switch into Ice-type moves. Zapdos in turn can switch into Grass-type moves that threaten Rotom-W.
* Air Balloon Magnezone is able to trap and remove Excadrill, easing the pressure on Zapdos to constantly switch into it.
* Tapu Koko is brought in safely with a Volt Switch from Zapdos and is able to threaten Dragon teams with Dazzling Gleam. It also appreciates the entry hazard removal from Zapdos due to its tendency to switch in and out repeatedly.
* Alolan Golem is able to get past special walls that Zapdos struggles with like Alolan Muk. Chansey is also dealt with if Alolan Golem holds a Life Orb. It appreciates the Volt Switch from Zapdos to come in and break walls, as its poor defensive typing and bulk make it hard to switch into an attack directly. It is also able to set up Stealth Rock, and with constant pressure from Zapdos can force the opponent to take chip damage on any forced switch.
* Alolan Raichu is able to threaten Ground-types immensely with its coverage options in Grass Knot and Surf and also helps in getting past Poison-types like Mega Venusaur and Nidoking with Psychic.
* Xurkitree is a great wallbreaker that pairs well with Zapdos. It's able to dent Ground teams with a combination of Energy Ball and Hidden Power Ice and is able to completely beat stall Water teams that Zapdos has trouble with. It can be safely brought in with a Volt Switch to even utilize a Z-Hypnosis and Tail Glow set.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Electric
--------
* Toxic may be used to passively wear down defensive threats like opposing Zapdos, Hippowdon, Porygon2, and Cradily.
* Discharge may be used to fish for paralysis. However, it is not worth using over the pivot utility from Volt Switch.
* Hidden Power Ice may be used to hit the likes of Gliscor, Landorus, and Garchomp for much more damage. However, without investment in Special Attack, it is rather weak, and it doesn't do much to anything else.

Checks and Counters
===================

Electric
--------
**Specially Defensive Walls**: Zapdos is beaten by special walls like Chansey, Gastrodon, and Cradily, which are able to easily tank any of its attacks and may retaliate using status moves. Zapdos should never try to take them on directly and should pivot out with Volt Switch instead.

**Wallbreakers**: Wallbreakers like Mega Charizard Y, Victini, and Choice Specs Meloetta threaten to 2HKO Zapdos with powerful attacks, preventing Zapdos from switching into them. They are usually faster as well, preventing Zapdos from attempting to heal damage taken with Roost.

**Stallbreakers**: Stallbreakers like Mew, Mega Sableye, and Gliscor take minimal damage from Zapdos's attacks and can proceed to set up on it, cripple it with status, or prevent it from using Defog and Roost. Gliscor and Mew carry Taunt to prevent Zapdos from using support moves, while Mega Sableye is able to outstall its Roost while removing its item with Knock Off.

**Setup Sweepers**: Due to Zapdos's underwhelming offensive presence, it is prone to being setup fodder. Many Pokemon like Mega Garchomp, Gliscor, and Landorus-T easily find ways to set up on it, since they aren't threatened by its attacks, and threaten to KO it in return.

**Electric-immune Pokemon**: Pokemon like Lanturn and Alolan Marowak completely wall Zapdos and may retaliate with status moves or hard-hitting attacks in the case of Alolan Marowak. They also prevent Zapdos from pivoting out with Volt Switch and resist all of its coverage moves, forcing Zapdos to switch out manually, causing a loss of momentum.

**Dragon-types**: Zapdos is easily walled by almost every Dragon-type. Although it is able to switch into Latios's Draco Meteor, it is threatened by Kyurem-B and Garchomp. Garchomp is especially problematic, as it can set up Stealth Rock to damage Zapdos when it comes back in or proceed to fire off powerful Dragon-type moves.

**Rock-types**: Rock-type Pokemon threaten to KO Zapdos with their Rock-type STAB moves, some notable threats being Rhyperior, Terrakion, Nihilego, and Mega Aerodactyl. They force Zapdos to pivot out and easily set up Stealth Rock multiple times to hinder it when it switches back in.

**Ice-types**: Although Zapdos is able to hit slower Ice-types like Lapras and Avalugg, it is threatened directly by faster Ice-types like Kyurem-B, Alolan Ninetales, and Cloyster, which are able to heavily dent Zapdos or even KO it with prior damage.

**Toxic Poison**: Despite being immune to paralysis and not affected much by burns, Zapdos is easily worn down by Toxic. Being the only source of entry hazard removal on an Electric team, repeated chip damage from switching into Stealth Rock coupled with damage taken from Toxic and switching into special attacks can affect its longevity by a lot and may leave it unable to clear away hazards effectively.

AM check, implement when stamped by QC.

Overview:
- Talk about Pressure since its a great ability for a Defogger, allowing it to PP stall Hazard setters.

Set:
- I'd honestly bump Zapdos's Speed up to creep base 70s like Breloom and Bisharp. This is pretty useful for outspeeding Choice Specs Magearna too, allowing Zapdos to switch into it and Roost off the damage.

[SET]
name: Specially Defensive Pivot (Electric)
move 1: Volt Switch
move 2: Heat Wave
move 3: Roost
move 4: Defog
item: Leftovers
ability: Pressure
nature: Calm
evs: 252 HP / 148 SpD / 108 Spe

Moves:
- Remove hp ice and move it to OO at best since heat wave is more useful in taking out steel types and it isn't OHKOing Garchomp or Landorus-T without investment and both of them are taking Zapdos out.

Set Details:
- Talk about the new spread.

Usage Tips:
- Talk about using Pressure to stall out Pokemon like Magearna with Roost.
- I'd add something about being able to switch into Choice Scarf Excadrill relatively safely as if it uses a Rock-type move it can be trapped and removed by Magnezone.

Team Options:
- As a blanket statement, you can say that Zapdos fits on every Electric team thanks to its ability to pivot and remove entry hazards.
- How is Alolan Golem setting Stealth Rock and Zapdos removing it a good thing? You can also say that the slow Volt Switch helps it break walls more easily since Alolan Golem's defensive typing is pretty bad and can rarely switch into anything.
- I don't think HP Ice and Focus Blast are great examples of coverage against Ground teams. Just Grass Knot and Surf is fine.
- I would probably mention Rotom-W at the top since they form a fantastic defensive core together.

Other Options:
- Add HP Ice here.
- Remove Thunderbolt and the offensive set.
- Add Discharge.

Checks and Counters:

- I don't think Toxic is so important so as to justify its own section. Thoughts on combining Stealth Rock and Toxic together as chip damage? Its going to be taking a ton of chip damage as it keeps switching in.
- Add wallbreakers such as Meloetta and Victini.

Implement everything from the above QC check except:
Set:
- I'd honestly bump Zapdos's Speed up to creep base 70s like Breloom and Bisharp. This is pretty useful for outspeeding Choice Specs Magearna too, allowing Zapdos to switch into it and Roost off the damage.

Keep it 252 / 240 / 16 in the main set and mention 252 / 148 / 108 in Set Details as an alternate set. Everything else seems good.

[OVERVIEW]

* It is prone to being set-up fodder due to underwhelming offensive presence and usual lack of status moves, allowing Gliscor, Landorus-T, and Mega Garchomp to set up on it.
- 'allowing Pokemon such as Gliscor, Landorus-T, and Mega Garchomp to set up on it' sounds better because those three aren't the only Pokemon that can set up on it.

[SET]

Heat Wave isn't important enough to be move 2. Re-order it to Volt Switch -> Roost -> Defog -> Heat Wave.

name: Specially Defensive Pivot (Electric)
move 1: Volt Switch
move 2: Roost
move 3: Defog
move 4: Heat Wave
item: Leftovers
ability: Pressure
nature: Calm
evs: 252 HP / 240 SpD / 16 Spe

Moves

- Re-oder the moves to Volt Switch -> Roost -> Defog -> Heat Wave.
* Roost is a reliable source of recovery and lets Zapdos keep its health up during the battle, allowing it to tank hits and pivot out more often, as well as regain health lost due to chip damage from weather and Stealth Rock.
- It also lets it Defog safely and take on more Pokemon in a 1v1 scenario.
- Remove HP Ice.
* Defog allows Zapdos to clear up any annoying hazards, mostly Stealth Rock, that hinder an Electric-type team's ability to pivot often. It is the only way of hazard removal on Electric teams, and is one of the reasons why Zapdos is essential.
- You already mentioned this in Overview, no need to repeat it again.

Set Details

* Pressure is useful for wearing out PP on attacking moves that have low PP, such as Fire Blast and Hydro Pump.
- Being able to PP stall Stealth Rock definitely should be mentioned here.
- Mention an alternate set with 252 HP / 148 SpD / 108 Spe to outspeed Pokemon with base 70 Speed and a Speed-boosting nature such as Jolly Bisharp and Breloom.

Usage Tips

* Heat Wave is only to be used against Pokemon that are weak to it or are immune to Volt Switch, such as Ferrothorn, Excadrill, Tapu Bulu, and Mega Scizor.
- That's actually not necessary. Sometimes you'd just want to stay in and click Heat Wave for some damage without having to switch out and force its teammates to take the damage (if against a slower Pokemon).

Team Options

* Rotom-W is a good defensive check to physical attackers like Garchomp and Landorus-T with Will-O-Wisp, and is able to threaten Ground-types with Hydro Pump. It is also able to threaten Rock-types with Hydro Pump and switch into Ice-type moves thanks to its Water typing.
- Rotom-W is a very good teammate for Zapdos and definitely should be at the top of the list just because of the amazing synergy they have and the pivoting core they form. You also need to mention Zapdos can take Grass-type moves aimed at Rotom-W.

Other Options

- Remove the offensive set, mention Discharge.

QC 1/3

[Overview]:
* Zapdos' typing and bulk make it an excellent specially defensive pivot to use on Electric teams.
+ special bulk
+ Talk about its physical bulk. While Zapdos is able to take on special attacks, it's pretty much left with no investment in physical bulk and it struggles to take hits from strong physical attackers and give an example of a couple.

[Moves]:
* Roost is a reliable source of recovery and lets Zapdos keep its health up during the battle, allowing it to tank hits and pivot out more often, as well as regain health lost due to chip damage from weather and Stealth Rock. It also lets it Defog safely and attempt to take on more Pokemon in a face-off.
+ Kind of redundant with the first one I bold. I'd just say "...during the battle, especially from Stealth Rock damage" I don't think weather is really a problem for it because because Leftovers will simply negate the damage it took from Hail and Sandstorm. As for the second one, I'd just say "and to continue tanking attacks from the opposing team" and I would give an example of what Zapdos can handle.

[Usage Tips]:
* Heat Wave is mostly used against Pokemon such as Ferrothorn, Tapu Bulu, and Mega Scizor that are weak to it or and Pokemon such as Excadrill are immune to Volt Switch, such as Ferrothorn, Excadrill, Tapu Bulu, and Mega Scizor. It can also be used to deal a bit of damage to slower Pokemon without needing to switch out with Volt Switch.
+ Just so that there isn't confusion with the reader.

[Team Options]:
* Alolan Golem is able to get past special walls like Chansey and Alolan Muk that Zapdos struggles with. It appreciates the slow Volt Switch from Zapdos to break walls, as its poor defensive typing and bulk make it hard to switch into an attack directly.
+ Talk about Alolan Golem's ability to set up Stealth Rock to deal chip damage. Zapdos is pretty good at forcing switches and Volt Switch really helps.
+ Add that Xurkitree can utilize Z-Hypnosis + Tail Glow from getting a safe Volt switch from Zapdos.

Another stamp earned just minor nitpicks.

QC 2/3

Overview:
- Seeing as its Defense is 85 and its Special Defense is 90, the comparison between how you talk about its physical / special bulk is quite surprising. Its special bulk isn't amazing. Misaka made this distinction and I don't think you understood her point. They're similar but Zapdos can only invest into one. In fact, if you invested into Defense, you'd see the opposite result.
- Its Flying immunity needs to be in the first line. That's what's important. Merge the first two lines.

Set:
- Changing the EV spread.
- 16 Def is all you need to always survive +2 Sucker Punch from Jolly Life Orb Bisharp. 108 Speed lets you outspeed it so you can revenge kill it with Heat Wave. 108 Speed happens to also let it outspeed Timid Magearna so that you can switch into a Twinkle Tackle and Roost off the damage to survive the Fleur Cannon and randomly Adamant Diggersby as well if you need to emergency Defog.

[SET]
name: Specially Defensive Pivot (Electric)
move 1: Volt Switch
move 2: Roost
move 3: Defog
move 4: Heat Wave
item: Leftovers
ability: Pressure
nature: Calm
evs: 252 HP / 16 Def / 132 SpD / 108 Spe

Set Details:
- Explain the EV spread as I did earlier.
- You can leave a 252 HP / 192 SpD / 64 Spe spread alternative here as well. It still outspeeds Timid Magearna, which is really just too important this gen.

Usage Tips:
- This line doesn't seem to do much outside of repeat what is said in Moves. I'd remove it
* Heat Wave is mostly used against Pokemon like Ferrothorn, Tapu Bulu, and Mega Scizor that are weak to and Pokemon such as Excadrill that are immune to Volt Switch. It can also be used to deal a bit of damage to slower Pokemon without needing to switch out with Volt Switch.
- You should add a line about being careful with Volt Switch if the opponent has a Ground-type or similarly Electric-immune Pokemon.
- This line seriously lacks impact. There needs to be something more meaningful behind it.
* Zapdos should usually be sent it against Pokemon that do not threaten it, such as Hippowdon, Pelipper, Magnezone, and Mega Scizor.
- If you're talking about switching Zapdos into Stealth Rock, you need to bring up Pressure.

Team Options:
- Magnezone is a good teammate solely because it traps and removes Excadrill. In particular, Air Balloon Magnezone is the best teammate.
- Wouldn't call Zapdos's Volt Switch slow at 263 Speed.
- Only Life Orb Alolan Golem breaks Chansey.

Other Options:
- Why bring up Heat Wave? You're not ever Discharge and Volt Switch no matter what anyway...

Checks and Counters:
- Toxic is an Other Option, so don't mention it against Mew.
- Don't mention Hidden Power Ice in this section at all.
- Remove Ground-types...
- The Stealth Rock thing in Rock-types is really weird, I'd take it out or reword it.
- Why isn't the Chip Damage section named Toxic poison if "Despite being immune to Paralysis and not being affected much by Burns, Zapdos is easily worn down by Toxic."?
- Add setup sweepers

Reorder Checks and Counters:

Specially Defensive Walls
Wallbreakers
Stallbreakers
Setup Sweepers
Electric-immune Pokemon
Dragon-types
Rock-types
Ice-types

I want to see the changed Checks and Counters section before I stamp it, so tag me after you finish implementing.

Implemented, lemme know if I misinterpreted anything Eien.
Also, I'm not entirely sure how to add the point about its defense and special defense.

Looks great.

Regarding Defense vs Special Defense what you have now is actually pretty close but the line isn't complete (removing special bulk from the first line was good enough for that part if you were wondering). Something like this would be just fine:

* Without investment, Zapdos's Defense isn't amazing, and it's prone to being KOed by strong physical attackers like Victini and Mega Garchomp.

Just make this last change and we're good here. QC 3/3

I know it's a bit late for that, but I think I've found a more optimal EV spread: 240 HP / 24 Def / 136 SpD / 108 Spe.

This spread still enables Zapdos to survive Jolly Bisharp's +2 LO Sucker Punch from full also gets a jump point in SpDef, making it bulkier on both sides of the spectrum despite the small HP loss.

With the OP's EV spread:
+2 252 Atk Life Orb Bisharp Sucker Punch vs. 252 HP / 16 Def Zapdos: 325-383 (84.6 - 99.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Choice Specs Keldeo Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 132+ SpD Zapdos: 232-274 (60.4 - 71.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

With my suggested EV spread:
+2 252 Atk Life Orb Bisharp Sucker Punch vs. 240 HP / 24 Def Zapdos: 321-380 (84.2 - 99.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Choice Specs Keldeo Hydro Pump vs. 240 HP / 136+ SpD Zapdos: 229-271 (60.1 - 71.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

I'm sorry if it's too late to suggest such a modification in the analysis.

Eien Misaka Mikoto terrors
Also, aren't those calcs nearly identical? The difference is really minute, and in the long run, max hp is probably more beneficial than a small increase in spd. I'll implement if qc tells me to.

While you do take less damage, you also heal less, which is the motivation for the 252 HP spread. If you compare, for example, the Hydro Pump damage, you're taking 3 less damage. However, you're also healing 1 less HP from Leftovers every turn, and you heal 2 less HP from Roost. So, if you Roost on an attack, it's no better, if you have any free turn whatsoever, it's worse. It's only better if you take a hit and never Roost. That's almost never going to happen. So, we should keep the current spread. HNBL

[OVERVIEW]

Electric
========

* Zapdos's typing, (comma) and bulk, (comma) and invaluable immunity to Ground make it an excellent defensive pivot to use on Electric teams. Its typing grants it an immunity to Ground, making it invaluable for any Electric team.
* It is the only entry hazard remover that the type has access to.
* It has access to reliable recovery in Roost, allowing it to keep its health up while tanking hits.
* Access to Heat Wave makes it a great check to Steel-types that Electric teams struggle with like Excadrill, Ferrothorn, and Magearna that Electric teams struggle with.
* Pressure is an excellent ability for a Defogger, as it allows Zapdos to PP stall Stealth Rock if they are it's set up again and again on it.
* However, its typing leaves it weak to Stealth Rock, limiting the number of times that it can switch into attacks and remove hazards.
* Without investment, Zapdos's Defense isn't amazing, and so it's prone to being KOed by strong physical attackers like Victini and Mega Garchomp.
* It is prone to being set-up setup fodder for Pokemon like Gliscor, Landorus-T, and Mega Garchomp due to underwhelming offensive presence and usual lack of status moves, (comma) allowing Pokemon like Gliscor, Landorus-T, and Mega Garchomp to set up on it.

Moves
========

* Volt Switch allows Zapdos to bring in a teammate safely after removing entry hazards or taking damage.
* Roost is a reliable source of recovery and lets Zapdos keep its health up during the battle, which is especially from important for switching into Stealth Rock damage. It also lets it Zapdos use Defog safely and continue tanking attacks from the opposing team, being able to switch into the likes of Hydreigon, Alakazam, and most other special attackers that hiring can only hit it neutrally.

Set Details
========

* 108 EVs in Speed allow it Zapdos to outspeed Pokemon with base 70 Speed and a speed-boosting nature such as Jolly Bisharp as well as Timid Magearna, allowing Zapdos to switch into Twinkle Tackle and Roost it's recover its health back with Roost to survive a Fleur Cannon.
* Pressure is useful for wearing stalling out PP on attacking moves that have low PP, such as Fire Blast and Hydro Pump. It also allows it Zapdos to stall out Stealth Rock If if it is set up repeatedly against it.
* An alternative spread of 252 HP / 192 SpD / 64 Spe may be used to invest more in its Special Defense, and is while still able to outspeeding Timid Magearna and Adamant Diggersby.

Usage Tips
========

* Zapdos may be sent it against Pokemon that do not threaten it, (comma) such as Hippowdon, Pelipper, Magnezone, and Mega Scizor. Said Pokemon don't have much to threaten Zapdos with, and this provides providing opportunities to remove entry hazards or preserve momentum with Volt Switch.
* If Stealth Rock is being set up, Zapdos may switch in on the same turn to avoid taking having to switch in and take Stealth Rock damage when switching in later on. It exerts Pressure upon switching in as well, causing the target to lose more PP while setting it Stealth Rock up.
* Whenever against a Pokemon that has a good matchup against Zapdos, Volt Switch should be used so as to bring in a teammate that can check the opposing Pokemon safely.
* Pressure allows Zapdos to stall out special attackers like Magearna with Roost, making it a good switch-in for to them.
* If the opponent has a Ground-type or an Electric-immune Pokemon, care should be taken when choosing to use Volt Switch, as it would be an easy switch-in for said Pokemon.
* However, if the opposing Pokemon threatens to KO Zapdos, it would be a better idea to hard- immediately switch out into a more appropriate check, as Zapdos's bulk can come in useful later on in the battle.
* Zapdos must be kept away from Toxic, as it affects hinders its longevity immensely, (comma) and prevents it from continuously keeping its health up with Roost, and eventually forces it to switch out.

Team Options
========

* Zapdos fits on almost any Electric team due to its ability to pivot in and remove entry hazards efficiently.
* Rotom-W forms an excellent t defensive core with Zapdos; (semicolon) it is a good defensive check to physical attackers like Garchomp and Landorus-T with Will-O-Wisp, is able to threaten Ground- and Rock-types with Hydro Pump, and can switch into Ice-type moves. and has great type synergy with it. It is a good defensive check to physical attackers like Garchomp and Landorus-T with Will-O-Wisp, and is able to threaten Ground-types with Hydro Pump. It is also able to threaten Rock-types with Hydro Pump and switch into Ice-type moves thanks to its Water typing. Zapdos in turn can switch into Grass-type moves that threaten Rotom-W.
* Air Balloon Magnezone is able to trap and remove Excadrill, easing the pressure on Zapdos to be constantly switched into it.
* Tapu Koko is brought in safely with a Volt Switch from Zapdos, (comma) and is able to threaten Dragon teams with Dazzling Gleam. It also appreciates the entry hazard support removal from Zapdos, (comma) due to its tendency to switch in and out repeatedly.
* Alolan Golem is able to get past special walls that Zapdos struggles with like Alolan Muk that Zapdos struggles with. Chansey is also dealt with if Alolan Golem holds a Life Orb. It appreciates the Volt Switch from Zapdos to come in and break walls, as its poor defensive typing and bulk make it hard to switch into an attack directly. It is also able to set up Stealth Rock, and with constant pressure from Zapdos, (comma) can force the opponent to take chip damage on any forced switch.
* Alolan Raichu is able to threaten Ground-types immensely with its coverage options in Grass Knot and Surf, (comma) and also helps in getting past Poison-types like Mega Venusaur and Nidoking with Psychic.
* Xurkitree is a great wallbreakers that pairs well with Zapdos. It's is able to dent Ground teams with a combination of Energy Ball and Hidden Power Ice, (comma) and is able to completely beat stall Water teams that Zapdos has trouble with. It can be safely brought in with a Volt Switch to even utilize a Z-Hypnosis and Tail Glow set.

Other Options
=============

Electric
--------
* Toxic may be used to passively wear down defensive threats like opposing Zapdos, Hippowdon, Porygon2, and Cradily.
* Discharge may be used to fish for Paralysis paralysis. However, it is not worth using over the pivot utility from Volt Switch.
* Hidden Power Ice may be used so as to hit the likes of Gliscor, Landorus, and Garchomp for much more damage. However, without investment in Special Attack, it is rather weak, and it doesn't do much to anything else.

Checks and Counters
===================

Electric
--------
**Specially Defensive Walls**: Zapdos is walled beaten by special walls like Chansey, Gastrodon, and Cradily, (comma) which that are able to easily tank any of its attacks and may retaliate using status moves.

They are usually faster as well, preventing Zapdos from attempting to heal of damage taken with Roost.

**Stallbreakers**: Stallbreakers like Mew, Mega Sableye, and Gliscor take minimal damage from Zapdos's attacks, (comma) and can proceed to set up on it, cripple it with status, or prevent it from using Defog and Roost. Gliscor and Mew carry Taunt and can to prevent Zapdos from using support moves, while Mega Sableye is able to outstall its Roost while removing its item with Knock Off.

**Set-up Setup Sweepers**: Due to Zapdos's underwhelming offensive presence, it is prone to being set-up setup fodder. Many Pokemon like Mega Garchomp, Gliscor, and Landorus-T easily finds ways to set up on it, (comma) since they aren't threatened by its attacks, and threaten to KO it in return.

**Electric-immune Pokemon**: Pokemon like Lanturn and Alolan Marowak completely wall Zapdos, (comma) and may retaliate with status moves or hard-hitting attacks in the case of Alolan Marowak.

Garchomp is especially problematic, (comma) as it can set up Stealth Rock to damage Zapdos when it comes back in or proceed to fire off powerful Dragon-type moves.

**Ice-types**: Although Zapdos is able to hit slower Ice-types like Lapras and Avalugg, it is threatened directly by faster Ice-types like Kyurem-B, Alolan Ninetales, and Cloyster, (comma) which that are able to heavily dent Zapdos or even KO it with prior damage.

**Toxic Poison**: Despite being immune to Paralysis paralysis and not being affected much by Burns burns, Zapdos is easily worn down by Toxic. Being the only source of entry hazard removal on an Electric team, repeated chip damage from switching into Stealth Rock coupled with damage taken from Toxic and switching into special attacks can affect its longevity by a lot, (comma) and may leave it unable to clear away hazards effectively.
