Welcome everyone to yet another annual ORASPL! For the first time in ORASPL history, we are starting off the season with Power Rankings! Through our experience, previous data, and surveys of managers and players, we will try to make these rankings as objective as possible. However, this is just opinion and not the be-all and end-all, so don’t take things personally. If you feel like you have been given an undue ranking, use that as fuel for motivation!
We have many returning franchises this year, including the winners Silky Surskits, but this time without Metallica as Howking’s co-manager. We also have new talent in the manager pool, mainly Savouras, Klefkiholder, White Atoq, Sergio Aguero, and Bello Figo who are new to managing in the ORAS subforums.
Thanks to the writers who helped get this together: Ruffles, Paprikaflow, Wesleyy, Mixnite, BluBirD, and Ithi. Thank you to those who made the graphics for this article, and thank you to the GP team of Lumari, sunny, and earthfromthefuture as well. Last but not least, thank you a fairy for approving this article!
The Darkrais sneak into ORASPL VI! Led by Savouras and Wesleyy, two players who both played in the most recent WCoP as ORAS starters and thus will be expected to provide good OU support. Wesleyy is very experienced in managing, but his ORAS experience has only just started. Meanwhile, Savouras is debuting as a manager in ORAS tours but has extensive experience as a player. They complement each other well, but there is a noticeable lack of lower tier experience and support.
Their OU core starts with Noname6293 in Bo3 and the manager self-buy Savouras in OU. Both players are similar, and we expect both to do great—similarly to their recent and dominant WCoP runs. Lighthouses comes after, who surprisingly went for only 3K in some auction trickery, despite being a player who consistently goes positive in OU on top of being able to support some lower tiers—definitely a steal. Next are Baddy and entrocefalo, two consistent tour players who have good recent performances on top of being somewhat experienced in the tier. With the solid support this team provides, we expect them to do well in their pools.
Although they have a stellar OU lineup, the Darkrais' lower tiers need more results before we gas them up. Crossia in Ubers and Schister in DOU have finished 2-1 and 1-3, respectively, in their most recent ORAS team tournament. Similarly, Xiri in RU is a somewhat suspicious decision, especially when he went for 16K as the second most expensive RU player and when he has only played one ORAS RU game in the past year. Looking at the pool, though, he should do very well regardless, especially since he has great experience in SV RU, making it far in the RU Open in Grand Slam. On a positive note in the lower tiers, we expect Seraphz and Abejas to show a similar performance to their recent 7-2 ORASCL and 6-1 NUPL, though both pools will be notably stronger this time around. Finally, in PU and LC we have asa and LeJames Chonk, who went 4-3 and 4-2 in their last ORAS tours and should go at least even in this tour. Notable people on the bench are fdmw and im_m0rtal, who can provide decent-quality games in OU if needed. Indeed, the Darkrais show incredible potential in OU, but whether they can translate that advantage into week wins depends on their lower tiers.
The Sith slither into ORASPL VI! They're led by Sergio Aguero and bello figo, both of whom are making their managerial debut in ORASPL. Sergio is an ORAS veteran, an ORAS Circuit ribbon holder, and a great tournament player, though he has minimal managing experience. On the other hand, bello has little ORAS experience but makes up for it with his managing experience. Sergio should provide a solid foundation for OU, but there is a notable gap in the support for the lower tiers.
Their OU core starts with a big surprise in awyp starting in the Bo3 slot. Not that awyp is doubted—he is a consistent underdog player that frequently grabs upsets—but MGdos16 and ImperialH are proven specifically in high-level ORAS tour scenes. MGdos16 went 4-1 in SPL in a very difficult pool, while ImperialH just went 4-1 in WCoP, both playing ORAS OU. Additionally, Spitfire is a very proven tour player who has plenty of experience in ORAS OU and will be expected to be very much worth his 10K price tag. Finally, egalvanc provides steady hands with decent experience in the tier, which should do well with solid support. This OU core is indeed strong, but the gamble of putting awyp in bo3 raises questions and will definitely be interesting to watch.
Following on their solid OU lineup are solid pickups in spell for UU and Rarelyme for RU, both of whom are good players that are expected to go positive in their pool. That's where the good news in lower tiers ends, however, as mipc and sugar ovens have not played in ORAS tours for at least a year or more, even though they play these tiers in other gens. Notably, the Sith have opted to get players who main lower tiers across multiple gens, despite their limited ORAS experience. This is true for all of spell, Rarelyme, mipc, sugar ovens, and xqiht, who is making his ORASPL debut. Interestingly, Zokuru is not starting in OU, where he is experienced, but in Ubers, where he is not, a plotline we will surely follow. Finally, Monai is a strong tournament player who usually plays OU or PU in ORASPL but has opted for LC this time around, which will be fun to watch. Only time will tell if this strategy from the Sith will prove to be effective or if it will flop in real time. And yet, by far the most eyebrow-raising questions for the Sith come from their bench. Indulge in dreams was bought for 12.5k and yet will warm the bench. Similarly, Remnonc, osipova, Hairoll, Sunrose, stratdkt, eldids, Jojen, and Calmmind75 are all not starting, putting a whopping 44.5K total on the bench, even though some of these players can easily start in some tiers. The Sith are certainly embracing the dark side, as their unique draft have blindsided us all. If the managers are reading this, I am dying to ask, “did you ever hear the tragedy of darth plagueis the wise?”
The Pangoros somersault into ORASPL VI! This team is managed by c0mp and Paprikaflow, two players who both have experience playing ORAS OU at the very top level: SPL. On top of that, they both have solid managing experience in general but specifically in ORASPL and ORASCL. From this managing pair, we expect incredible OU support, but we are left clueless about their lower tiers, though we expect them to pull from their previous managing experiences.
The OU core of this team has a very consistent theme; new talent. We see this with the ORAS players that are already coming up: kingofking, who went 4-1 in SPL and 5-3 in the last ORASPL; Destro16, who went 1-2 in WCoP and 5-1 in ORASCL; and Hisoka, who went 1-2 in WCoP. This trio is followed up by c0mp, a player who mains and only plays SM and is totally new to ORAS! I wonder, will he do well in this tour, since there is no SM OU tier he can switch to after losing? In all seriousness, c0mp is easily one of the most threatening players in the pool, with consistent records in ORAS, such as a 6-2 ORASPL and 2-3 SPL. Continuing on the theme of new talent is Hazerdeur, followed by Juseth Sepulveda, Horii, and Regiboob, all of whom have been making rounds in the ORAS circuit tours.
In lower tiers, we have the veterans. Suzuya is a classic starter for Ubers who usually goes positive, like his last 4-2 ORASCL. Similarly, ishtar is an ORAS PU staple but one who can be a bit inconsistent, going 2-5 last ORASPL and more recently 4-1 in PUCL. Meanwhile, Feaniix is a consistent player who disappears for a year only to come back for ORASPL to play NU and will be expected to do well here. Jox is a talented LC main who doesn't usually play ORAS, so will be interesting to see how he does. In RU, MemphisDepay is an interesting starter. He plays SV RU, but in ORASCL, he finished 4-3 being thrown around in multiple tiers—none of which were RU, so that's another thread to follow here. Finally, Vioz in UU and Nakano Nino in DOU are expected to be in the lower side of their pools, so keep an eye if you love a good underdog story. On the bench, hxmo, LessThanThreeMan, and Smudge are all solid support for UU, NU, and DOU, respectively, and can sub in if needed. Finally, lolebruh can probably sub in any tier if needed. Just like actual pandas, the Pangoro Posse look harmless at first but will pack a mean punch if you anger them!
Up next, we have The Shadow Dragons, led by LB, who brings an impressive resume in ORAS management. His accomplishments include winning the inaugural season of ORAS Underground, reaching the finals of the most recent ORASPL, and managing the latest ORASCL. Rather than teaming up with one of his previous co-managers, LB has partnered with first-time manager Klefkiholder, an ORAS OU mainstay who has built a strong reputation by helping top-tier players prepare for both official and unofficial tournaments. While this duo may not be best known for their own ORAS playing careers, they have done an excellent job assembling a roster full of quality players for this season. At the top of the roster is Pak, an ORAS UU mainstay who was purchased for the exact same price as in this year's UUPL (30k credits), where he put up an impressive 5-3 record against a pool of highly respected players. Winning is nothing new for Pak, and after last year's dominant 6-1 performance, expectations are once again sky-high.
Leading the team's OU core is Togkey, occupying the bo3 slot. After locking out of NU following an outstanding Slam run and numerous strong results in the tier, Togkey nearly doubled last year's auction price, going for 17,5k credits. Coming off a stellar 6-1 record in the previous ORASPL, Togkey is undoubtedly one of the Shadow Dragons' most valuable players. The regular OU slots are led off by Hacker, who has opted to play OU once again instead of LC in an attempt to redeem a disappointing 0-4 OU record from ORASCL. Joining them is sky, who, despite finding most of his success in the ORAS lower tiers, chose to lock into OU this tournament after playing the tier during WCoP, as well as Gingy and Xrn. While neither is an ORAS specialist, both bring a wealth of tournament experience that should make them valuable contributors.
In the Ubers slot, the Shadow Dragons have byronthewellwell, one of the most highly regarded ORAS Ubers players in the pool, even sharing first place in the Ubers Premier League Power rankings with pool contender Fardin. The team's third most expensive purchase was Val16, who cost 16,5k credits. Val16 has quickly made a name for himself in the Smogon DOU scene, delivering strong results across multiple tournaments and generations, even currently holding a perfect record in DPL. The RU slot belongs to Durk27, who shares the minimum 3k credit price tag with three other starters on the roster (or five if Sky's 3,5k price is included). Durk is a complete newcomer to ORAS and enters the tournament as perhaps the biggest wildcard in the RU pool. Representing the team in NU is Kiyo, certainly no stranger to the tier. However, their most recent ORAS NU experience came during NUPL XIII, where they went winless before switching to SV in week 5, where they unfortunately managed to win just a single game. They'll be looking for a much stronger showing this time around. Playing PU is Jeronis, who impressed LB during ORASCL as a valuable flex player. Despite primarily filling the Draft slot, Jeronis even slotted into PU for a week and picked up a win. Last but certainly not least is reggg, who consistently puts up positive results across nearly every old generation of LC. Although absent from both last year's ORASPL and this year's ORASCL, reggg remains a player you can confidently expect to perform in the LC slot. On the bench, the Shadow Dragons have impersonxtor, blaab, magma_man, xmarsh, Znain, Agera, FaronAan, and FU SHUN HA. Together, they provide the team with excellent flexibility, covering everything from DOU and LC all the way to OU if substitutions are made during the season.
Overall, the Shadow Dragons have assembled a roster with several players who should reliably put up strong numbers. At the same time, they also feature a handful of riskier picks whose lofty expectations could either pay off in a big way or fall short. If their core players perform to their usual standards and a few of those gambles hit, the Shadow Dragons have all the pieces needed to make a deep playoff run.
The Silky Surskits weave into ORASPL as the returning champions! Returning with them is Howkings, a staple manager of ORASPL who should be able to pull from his experience in supporting his team in OU and lower tiers. With him is debuting manager BlazingDark, a solid tournament player who went 4-1 last ORASPL in OU, and presumably will be able to support his OU players.
Starting the roster is ORAS mainer and probable team supplier Always!, a man after everyone's hearts. Aside from being the nicest ORASer to exist, he is also the only one on this team who mains ORAS and builds consistently, so we expect him to support the other OU players. Drachenkeule, le LLiolae, and MisterMcLovin are all debuting as starters in ORASPL with no past records. They do have experience playing ORAS in side tours and in ORAS circuits, but this experience is most likely still needed to be supplemented with solid support, which hopefully Always! and BlazingDark can provide. Skyrio completes the OU core, being slotted in the Bo3 pool. This comes to no surprise, as Skyrio is a quick rising star in OU after his MVP performance in DPP in SPL. He went on a great run in ORAS in the side tour and then went 2-1 in WCoP in a difficult pool. Especially considering the lackluster Bo3 pool, we expect Skyrio to do great.
The lower tiers is where the Silky Surskits truly shine. In Ubers, Splendid Silver Star will be looking to repeat his fantastic 6-2 run last year in ORASPL. In DOU, Idyll is debuting in ORASPL, but he is projected to be a top threat in the pool, as he recently made finals of the XY DOU cup and went 3-0 in the doubles WCoP. The good news of lower tiers continues in UU and NU, where BP and Ampha are playing. BP went 2-3 in ORASCL and 4-2 in ORASPL, and we expect them to go positive in this pool. Meanwhile, Ampha is undoubtedly in the upper half of the NU pool, coming off a solid 5-3 performance in NUPL in ORAS. The rest of the lower tiers are still good, but they do raise some questions. Mareep, previously Flampoke, has no recent experience in ORAS RU, on top of going negative in RUPL and last ORASCL in other lower tiers. However, in this poor RU pool, Mareep going even would be unsurprising. On the other hand, feen in PU is a solid player who is currently 3-3 in PUPL in ORAS. With that in mind, and in a tough PU pool, we expect him to go at least even. Finally, Trawkan is a longtime LC mainer debuting in ORASPL as an LC starter. Despite the lack of any recent and outstanding results, with his vast veteran knowledge, he should be expected to go even. On the bench, Hyssou is a great substitute who can play multiple tiers including OU, UU, and RU. Fragments, Elektrone, and Nemosse are all additional good players on the bench who can play at least one tier if things go awry. Overall, the Silky Surskits have a very solid draft, but their OU department is a bit lacking, which is not ideal in an OU-heavy tour such as this.
The Resurreccion Espeons are led by managers purbaj + BluBirD. purbaj has recently developed an uncanny ability to seemingly win just about every tournament he enters. Alongside him is BluBirD, a knowledgeable ORAS guy with experience across multiple tiers, providing a lot of support for the Espeons.
Starting in Ubers is Ainzcrad, a player with extensive knowledge of the tier. Although his ORAS Ubers results have been somewhat mixed over the years, he is a pretty good teammate and able to get himself prepared. While he may not be expected to carry, he provides a dependable presence in the Ubers slot.
Leading the team's OU core is Ruffles, who was picked up for what looks to be a very reasonable price. Besides being a top player, he can provide top-level teams, which especially can benefit ima and zRyan, who are not that experienced as ORAS players. Even though their past games didn't make them look like they would be new ORAS prodigies, with the support they have they could do reasonably well. Joining them is rylon, who enters the tournament fresh off an very successful WCoP run. While his opponent's level wasn't super impressive, you can still expect him to do well in this tour. In the Bo3 slot is tokyo prison, who should have every opportunity to pick up a respectable number of wins. He is rather self sufficient. His tour results usually vary, yet the player pool looks manageable, and he should perform above average at least.
The lower tiers are filled by a well-rounded group of players, headlined by DugZa, who is arguably the standout of the bunch. BluBirD will take on the PU slot himself, where he has already posted strong results in previous tournaments and should once again be expected to perform well. In RU, Ming549 brings a lot of metagame knowledge, although translating that understanding into consistent tournament results has occasionally proven difficult. betathunder in UU and Chris32156 in DOU are both projected to finish somewhere around the middle of their respective pools, which could be sufficient for the team as long as the other slots deliver. Finally, Lazuli rounds out the roster in LC. While he has some experience in the lower tiers, expectations are rather modest, making him one of the bigger question marks heading into the season. On the bench, the Espeons have ExguardiaN, AM, Abele, Me Empty, Airwind, eden, Zcarlett, and crow crumbs. In particular, AM and eden provide valuable additional support for several of the lower tiers, giving the team useful flexibility should substitutions become necessary during the season.
After a disappointing season last year, Oathkeeper's Ruin Valley Rhyperiors will be looking to bounce back, and this is backed by some savvy signings in the auction. Interestingly, the Rhyperiors have the "cheapest most expensive signing" after some good business in the auction. This is partially explained by both managers electing to self-buy in a move that some might see as gross overexpenditure. However, Oathkeeper and Aldo are top lower tier players with a wealth of knowledge, especially in the lower tiers.
Through shrewd business, the Rhyperior's have constructed a solid OU core. One of the highlights is last year's Circuit champion Xurkiyee, who will be hoping to continue his good form into ORASPL. Another is Endill, who is more known for his ADV pedigree but has also proven himself in SM on the WCoP stage, so we expect him to do well. Thajester is the newest talent under the tutelage of Ruffles and consistently makes it far in ORAS circuits, so we expect him to go even. Lostmemories and Legitly have a similar story: they are both empire bros who do well in side tours and ORAS circuits but have not had enough results to justify starting—that is, until the ORAS slots were expanded. With such a good opportunity, they need to grab on to it.
The real point of interest in this draft is the lower tiers, as it seems that's where most of Oathkeeper and Aldo's focus was. The self-buys in RU and NU cost them 40K (yikes), so there's a lot of expectations on the managers that people are unsure they can reach. There seems to be a theme of redemption for the Rhyperiors, as their most expensive signing, eragon, is looking to bounce back from a disappointing last season where they recorded a poor 2-5 record, after a 7-0 record the ORASPL before that. A similar story can be said about Jay, who went 0-4 in ORASCL and 2-4 last ORASPL. In PU, ManOfMany went 0-2 last ORASPL and has not played much ORAS PU since then, making him another interesting pickup. Similarly, DonBonJones has no recent results in ORAS Ubers. Finally, they also managed to draft top LC player gali, who interestingly played for the Rhyperiors last year and recorded a solid 4-1 finish. Overall, the Rhyperiors have the opposite of recency bias: primary bias. They picked up, in multiple tiers, players who have a history of doing well in their tier, but not recently, plus a weak bench. On paper, their draft is weak and leaves much to be desired, but they do have a solid base that has potential.
After a good debut season, Alpha's Raging Reshirams make a return to the scene, this time looking to make playoffs and maybe even win the whole tournament. Following Ithi's departure from the scene, White Atoq takes over as Alpha's co-manager. Sporting a wealth of OU knowledge coupled with Alpha's robust management, the Reshirams look poised to make a deep run.
This is backed up by a good draft where the Reshiram's spent wisely to build a well-rounded squad with some surprisingly cheap picks. White Atoq has elected to self-buy to bolster their already strong OU core. He went 6-1 last ORASPL, so we expect this self-buy to be well worth it. One of the standouts here is Seasons, who is looking for redemption after a lackluster 3-5 record last year. Seasons and Sna, an up-and-coming talent, make for great synergy considering their teaming up last ORASPL as well as their managing in this year's ORASCL. Splash is yet another player with a username that starts with the letter S, and he is actually an OG who won ORASPL I as a manager. Finally, Eternal Spirit completes their OU core. After two recent incredible performances in SPL and WCoP in SM, we expect the magician to enchant us with some magic in ORAS as well.
The main focus seems to be the lower tiers, as Alpha and Atoq have invested a hefty amount in signing top lower tier players, with their most expensive signings being MZ and Fardin by a significant amount, both projected to be near the top of their pools. Of note as well is their sole retain Akaru Kokuyo, last year's DOU MVP with a fantastic 6-1 record. Meanwhile, Envy had an impressive 6-3 record last time, and a similar record here would do great for his team. The biggest question marks are Kiru for their motivation, Rabia for their lack of ORAS NU experience, and Ninja for their lack of recent experience in ORAS UU despite being a proven tournament player. On the bench, Django is actually a solid substitute that can even start if one of the OU starters starts fumbling, with some other decent backup in Typical_bastard. Overall, the Reshirams return once again with quite the solid lineup to prove the claims they make with their roster.
1. c0mp: 2 - Pangoro Posse
1. kingofking: 3 - Pangoro Posse
1. Destro16: 4 - Pangoro Posse
1. Hazardeur: 26 - Pangoro Posse
Everyone knows c0mp is a great ORAS player, except c0mp himself, as he seems to always switch to SM to recover his sheet record. Putting his SPL and WCoP records aside, his last ORASPL ended 6-2, which is a great performance if he can repeat it, and exactly what a manager self-buy would be expected to do. Kingofking has been an up-and-comer for 2 years now, winning the first ORAS ladder tournament in 2024, then being under the wing of Ruffles for a bit, and finally culminating in subbing in SPL and going 4-1. This WCoP he supported pj in ORAS, but we certainly expect more of him going forward. Similarly, Destro is another player trying to make a name for himself, but doesn't have quite the results under his belt yet, going 1-4 last ORASPL and 1-2 in WCoP. However, he did go 5-3 last ORASCL, so a good record here is a strong step forward into his ORAS career. Finally, Hazardeur is yet ANOTHER player on the come up, going 3-0 this WCoP in SS playing for Germany. Perhaps he ended up here trying his hand at a new tier, so we'll see how well he can do in ORAS. Overall, the Pangoro's OU core is a massive threat, which is no surprise as they spent 52K on their OU starters, the most out of any other team. Considering they have 3 players ranked in the top 5, they will certainly pose a tough challenge.
2. MGdos16: 7 - Conkeldurr Sith Rising
2. ImperialH: 10 - Conkeldurr Sith Rising
2. Spitfire: 14 - Conkeldurr Sith Rising
2. egalvanc: 21 - Conkeldurr Sith Rising
MGdos16 is a great player with solid records in master tiers and SV. He was thrown in ORAS last SPL as a 3K sub, and went 4-2 to everyone's surprise. He did however lose both in semifinals and finals, so his clutch factor is questionable. In a similar vein, ImperialH just pulled off a 4-1 WCoP in a breakout performance. He did get lucky in his win versus Ruffles, but most players can't even claim that. On top of that, he builds his own teams and will be able to support his fellow teammates if he wishes to. On the other hand, Spitfire hasn't shown his face in ORAS for a while now, but is a top level tour SS main that is expected to go at least even with solid support. Egalvanc does join the ORAS circuit tours and usually makes it decently far, but he doesn't play the tier too often. He did just finish top 8 in stour which proves his high ceiling, so we will see if he can go further than last year's 1-2 record. On top of this being the 2nd-best OU core, they have Zokuru as a strong sub if anything goes awry. Overall, the Sith look strong with their dark arts, having the 2nd most expensive OU with 47.5K. However, they do hinge on recency bias in MGdos and Imperial, and we will see how far that goes.
3. Savouras: 5 - Dreadful Darkrais
3. lighthouses: 6 - Dreadful Darkrais
3. entrocefalo: 20 - Dreadful Darkrais
3. Baddy: 23 - Dreadful Darkrais
After finally having his long-awaited breakout, Savouras is ranked 5th. Not surprising after a convincing 3-0 WCoP with wins over Niko as well as Destro and Skyrio who are ranked high in their pool this tour. As the manager self-buy, he needs to go positive to put the team on his back. Next, and surprisingly with a very similar teamstyle, is Lighthouses. Although Diogo is a known solid player, he has been having a rough year. Aside from skipping WCoP, he was not bought for SPL, went 2-5 last ORASPL, and 2-4 in ORASCL. This time, he has better support and less stress, as he isn't the sole starplayer on the team, so it is the perfect time to shine. Entrocefalo comes back after a solid 3-2 record last ORASPL and just high off winning the Ubers open in slam. With this level of support, we expect him to go even at the very least. Similarly, Baddy is a great player who just had an impressive WCoP going 3-2 with wins over solid players such as ABR. As long as both these players have proper support from Savouras, Lighthouses, and Wesleyy, they should go even. Overall they have spent 33K on their OU core, which is the 6th most expensive, but if you adjust Diogo's price to something more reasonable like 10K, they would be the 3rd. The Darkrai's OU core consists of 2 solid ORAS mainers and 2 solid tour players, only time will tell how this sort of balanced approach will turn out.
4. Ruffles: 1 - Resurrección Espeons
4. rylon: 13 - Resurrección Espeons
4. ima: 18 - Resurrección Espeons
4. zRyan: 31 - Resurrección Espeons
It is no surprise that Ruffles comes in first, who has been consistently finishing positive in all ORAS tours, including the 2nd best ORAS record in SPL at 6-5 and a recent 3-1 performance in WCoP. On top of that, he is one of the most active builders in the tier and consistently comes up with fresh ideas, and will easily be able to support all of his OU core. However, he only managed in ORASPL last year, and ORASCL he went 4-2 playing lower tiers only, so how serious he takes his tour is up in the air. Rylon came out of nowhere and has impressed everyone with a 4-2 WCoP. What is specifically impressive about this record is that he went 1-2 in groups, then proceeded to win quarters, semis, and finals (and won the tour as well!), with wins over very solid players such as pj and GeniusX. Of course, we are not sure if this was a one time generational performance or he is here to stay, so a modest rank of 13 is about what is expected. Ima on the other hand is a tournament superstar in both SV and SM, but with questionable ORAS experience. Aside from not playing the tier in a long time, he famously went 0-3 in a winless ORAS slot, despite winning WCoP 2019. Despite this, solid support from Ruffles and BluBirD should be all he needs to succeed. On the complete opposite end is zRyan, who has been a newcomer trying to make a name in the master tiers. His ORAS experience is low, and he did go 0-2 in ORASCL in OU and 0-4 overall, which is perhaps why he's ranked so low. Nonetheless, with the support this team offers, he can definitely use this under-estimation as an advantage. Overall, Espeon's OU core is the 3rd most expensive at 37.5K, with half the Espeons's OU core unproven, and the third one is still doubted. But, they probably have the single best OU support in the tour between Ruffles and BluBirD, so we'll see how this ends up!
5. Always!: 8 - Silky Surskits
5. Drachenkeule: 17 - Silky Surskits
5. le LLiolae: 19 - Silky Surskits
5. Mister McLovin: 29 - Silky Surskits
Coming in 5th are the championship defenders, Silky Surskits. Always always does well in all ways. Okay but with a 2-2 last ORASCL and 3-4 last ORASPL, a rank of 8th might be an over-estimation. However, we all know his high highs, and will not be one to underestimate. Drachenkeule is a solid tournament player who mains SM but has been dabbling in ORAS, making his debut in ORASPL. With no past records here, his performance will be unpredictable. Le LLiolae is in a similar position, also making his debut in ORASPL with no previous records. They both do play ORAS circuits and make it decently far, but nothing of note in ORAS exists for either of them. Finally, Mister McLovin ranked 29 is no surprise either, but he also does not have much experience in this tier aside from side tours and ORAS circuits. Maybe he can channel some of Vielman's energy. Overall, the Silky Surskits spent 35K on the 4th most expensive OU pool, ending up with 1 ORAS mainer who can build and support the rest of the core, which is needed since the other 3 don't main the tier and probably lack legitimate teams.
6. Hacker: 9 - The Shadow Dragons
6. sky: 16 - The Shadow Dragons
6. Xrn: 24 - The Shadow Dragons
6. Gingy: 30 - The Shadow Dragons
The Shadow Dragons are managed by Klefkiholder, who is mains ORAS and is a very active builder that helps many tour players at the high level. With this in mind, there is no surprise that the upper half of their OU core consist of Hacker and sky, two solid tournament players with ORAS experience, but ones who can't build and will heavily rely on Klefkiholder. This support will definitely be needed, as Hacker went 4-2 last ORASPL and 0-4 in OU in ORASCL, while sky played OU in neither. Xrn is another solid tournament player but without the ORAS experience, making him the biggest gamble on this OU roster. Surprisingly, he went for 4.5K, which is 1K higher than Sky's 3.5k, neither which really makes sense, but none of the auction did really. Finally, Gingy is an UncTM who plays the tier behind the scenes and supports klefkiholder in his builds and preps. This is not well known which would explain his harsh rank at 30th, which we expect to not hold true. Overall, this OU core is heavily relying on the strategy of good clickers clicking well with specific and freshly-built teams by klefkiholder, and the 25K price tag, the 2nd lowest in the pool, reflects that dependence.
7. Seasons: 11 - Raging Reshirams
7. Eternal Spirit: 15 - Raging Reshirams
7. Sna: 27 - Raging Reshirams
7. Splash: 28 - Raging Reshirams
Summer. Fall. Winter. Spring. Long ago, the four SeasonsTM lived together in harmony and debuted in an incredible SPL performance. Now basically retired with inconsistent motivation, a 7K price tag and 11th rank seems just about right. He still has a high skill ceiling, so only time will tell if he dies better than his 3-5 record last ORASPL. Eternal Spirit, O MAGO, the magician, the clutch master. He goes by many names, but he is not really known for his ORAS. SM is close enough though, and with support from White Atoq and potentially Seasons, we expect him to at least go even. Sna is an up and comer player making their player debut in ORASPL and ORASCL. They did manage ORASCL alongside Seasons, and they did qualify from play-ins last ORAS invitational, so we expect them to do better than 27th rank. The same may not be said about Splash, who has played ORAS here and there but nothing of note in the past year. With decent support at his hands, going even is possible and would be a good outcome. Overall, the Reshirams have spent the least out of all the teams on their OU core (not counting Bo3), at 21K, and the 7th rank reflects that.
8. Xurkiyee: 20 - Ruin Valley Rhyperiors
8. Lostmemories: 22 - Ruin Valley Rhyperiors
8. Endill: 25 - Ruin Valley Rhyperiors
8. thajester: 27 - Ruin Valley Rhyperiors
Xurkiyee, a player who is usually supported by none other than Ithi, is an unexplored talent that should definitely be higher than 20th rank. He consistently makes it far in the ORAS circuits, and went 2-0 in OU in the last ORASCL. Lostmemories is another unexplored talent with decent results, just not as good as Xurkiyee's. He does have instances of beating very good players, so be sure to look for upsets. Endill on the other hand is an ADV superstar player and recent SPL winner, with basically 0 experience in ORAS. Good clickers are good clickers at the end of the day, so with solid teams and good support, he should do well. Finally, thajester is the newest addition to the Ruffles academy, aka the players who are coached by him and use his teams. You may know previous graduates in Noname, Paprika, and Kingofking, even c0mp at one point. So, he will be either a spectacular breakout, or he needs more in the cooker. Surprisingly, despite spending 33.5K, this 5th most expensive OU core are all players debuting in ORASPL, thanks to the increase in OU slots, and honestly, they don't have the solid support we would want for newcomers. MrAldo does build in OU, but not consistently or even recently, and so we are left wondering where this team will get their teams from, and how this insane gamble will turn out.
1. NoName6293 - 1.000 - Dreadful Darkrais
NoName is the only clear top-level ORAS player in this pool, so it is not surprising that he got a unanimous rank 1. The kid is extremely talented, has—mostly thanks to Ruffles—a huge pool of teams, and is good enough to make anything work. He announced he will be testing teams this tour, but that does not necessarily mean he is nerfed.
2. Skyrio - 2.143 - Silky Surskits
Skyrio is a proven player, but his ORAS has two faces. Sometimes, he shows up in tours and leaves with exceptional records; other tours, he tends to struggle. As a player, he likes to take risks both in plays and in teams. There is a big payout if it works and a big risk if it fails. Being able to successfully take risks consistently is skill. So, what will it be like on this tour? The majority of the pool sees him as a threat.
3. White Atoq - 3.571 - Raging Reshirams
The Peruvian is known for his teambuilding. He likes to go creative and fit a team to his opponent. In recent tours, he was rather successful with that approach, and the rating reflects that. Third place for him.
3. tokyo prison - 3.571 - Resurrección Espeons
Aka Devin, Tokyo prison is another player who prefers high-octane offense builds and uses something he finds interesting rather than fixing every detail for every matchup. Less stress and more playing. His results in recent tours prevent him from getting a top rating, but he is certainly able to beat everyone in the pool.
5. Togkey - 4.286 - The Shadow Dragons
Aka stories, aka herstories, Togkey did exceptionally well last ORASPL with a 6-1 record. There is an upwards trend in the ORAS performances. Besides that, good records people aren't sold, which can be understood looking at some of the past games looked rather shaky. Togkey has the chance to repeat last year's run and silence the doubters.
6. Hisoka - 5.143 - Pangoro Posse
Similarly to the original, this Hisoka also has a close connection to the cards. At least, that's one way to put it, since he is a bit of a wild card. Hisoka captained Africa and played for them as an ORAS player too. The 1-2 record could have been 2-1 with better RNG. Hisoka is a trickster with his team choices, yet his performances vary from very good to questionable. If he manages to find more consistency, he will be a threat.
7. awyp - 5.286 - Conkeldurr Sith Rising
awyp does consistently okay in a lot of individual tours and can play more and more in side tours. However, he hasn't achieved standout results. You wouldn't expect him to shine in this tour, but you can expect a solid result out of him.
8. Legitly - 7.000 - Ruin Valley Rhyperiors
Legitly has no big records to show off, but he does have some noticeable achievements like making ladder tour playoffs two times, beating Persephone (with a bit of luck) in Invitational play-ins, and making the 2025 ORAS Circuit playoffs. He does know how to play ORAS, but he will have to grind to win those games.
1. byronthewellwell - 2.143 - The Shadow Dragons
Leading the pack is longtime Ubers player byronthewellwell. Making a first appearance in the ORASPL scene in five years since back in 2021, there's a lot riding on his shoulders on his return tour. His last known record in the ORASPL scene is a respectable 4-x. Fans of the tournament will be eager to see what team ideas Byron will be resurrecting with a modern twist in this new BP-less landscape. With how fierce the Ubers scene is this tour, fans can expect back-to-back must-watch matches from Byron's part.
2. Splendid Silver Star - 2.286 - Silky Surskits
Runner up is Splendid Silver Star, who has made a prominent rise as one of Ubers's top dogs. His Ubers WCoP run ended in a 2-1, with a 4-4 record in ORASCL and finally a dominant record of 6-2 in last year's ORASPL. There is an equal level of pressure riding on SSS's shoulders to recreate his dominating run after his UWC and CL runs. This year will be especially difficult with rivals like Fardin, Crossia and Byron sharing the pool.
2. Fardin - 2.286 - Raging Reshirams
Arguably THE player everyone must watch out for is Fardin. An ingenious builder in the Ubers scene, rarely does Fardin disappoint his opponents. Having gone 4-3 in last year's ORASPL alongside his dominating 3-0 record in UWC, Fardin has been an active player in the Ubers scene and is going to be a thorn in any player's side looking to get a clean record this season. Many players are looking forward to seeing what teams Fardin pulls up with alongside new techs the Ubers playerbase should be watching out for.
4. Crossia - 3.571 - Dreadful Darkrais
If Billy the Kid were a Pokemon player, he'd be Crossia. When Crossia hits, he hits. Although he hasn't had the most splendid year, going 2-1 in ORASCL and 0-3 in UWC, it's a far cry from his dominating ORASPL run in 2024.
5. Suzuya - 4.286 - Pangoro Posse
Suzuya isn't constantly present when there is ORAS Ubers to play, but when he does show up, he delivers. Record of him going positive in ORAS tours go back until 2023, when he was still called Inder. 5th rank seems a little low for what he has shown in the past and will prove to be such if he continues the streak he has in ORASPL.
6. Ainzcrad - 4.857 - Resurrección Espeons
The Dutch Ubers main does know his way around that tier. There is no denying that he is knowledgeable; the question is if he can deliver playingwise. So far he has a good run in the Ubers Open, which is the only recent result he can be judged on. 6th rank with a 4.857 still places him somewhere in the middle of the pack.
7. Zokuru - 6.167 - Conkeldurr Sith Rising
There is no doubt in anyone's mind Zokuru is an experienced Pokemon player who has been in the high-caliber scene for ages. However, skill alone can only go so far if a player isn't familiar with the metagame like Zokuru is in ORAS Ubers. His performance this time around will be directly proportional to the level of practice he puts in for Ubers.
8. DonBoneJones - 6.286 - Ruin Valley Rhyperiors
Mr. Jones is rather new to the scene and has yet to play Ubers in a team tour. His Ubers records mostly consists of playing the few individual tours that come around. His last place in the PR seems to be connected with him being rather unknown. Either way, this tour is the chance to prove himself.
1. Pak - 1.000 - The Shadow Dragons
To no one's surprise, we find Pak in first place, being the Shadow Dragons' biggest investment in the auction. Pak has been a reliable ORAS UU starter in every tour they have entered in recent years, dropping good records in UUPL, ORASPL, and an undefeated finish in UUCL on top of winning the ORAS UU cup last year. Finding him in what seems to be a less experienced pool than ones Pak has faced before, it's easy to say that the Shadow Dragons' managers are confident in their investment paying off.
2. seraphz - 3.000 - Dreadful Darkrais
At second place on the UU Power Rankings we see UU mainstay Seraphz, who was retained by the Darkrais for just 10k following his impressive 7-2 in ORASCL. Seraphz has been putting up consistent records in the UU tier in Gens 9 through 5. If he can repeat a record similar to his ORASCL showing, this retain will have paid off immensely.
3. BP - 3.429 - Silky Surskits
Next up is BP, who is no newcomer to ORAS UU, playing it in every single ORAS team tournament this year and last year as well as UUCL. Going for 11.5k the Surskits hope BP puts up a better showing than his ORASCL record of 2-3 in UU. If his experience and knowledge of the tier are able to give him the edge over the players below him in this pool, BP can sneak off with a solid record.
4. spell - 3.571 - Conkeldurr Sith Rising
Dropping for just 3k we have Spell, who even without an ORAS UU resume finds herself in fourth place on the Power Rankings after a convincing WCoP and UUPL in SV. The Siths made a low-risk, high-reward investment hoping Spell finds her touch within the tier.
5. Jay - 4.286 - Ruin Valley Rhyperiors
In fifth we have ORAS UU Cup 2023 and ORAS Underground winner Jay. With his neutral record from last year, his competitors don't expect a big showing from Jay but do not want to underestimate him and have put him at the middle of the pack.
6. Ninja - 4.857 - Raging Reshirams
Ninja is one of the most senior players on the site. Despite being around since 2009, there is no record of him playing Gen 6 UU. The sixth place is probably in correlation with that. What he has are good fundamentals and a lot of overall knowledge. Time will tell if he can prove himself in the tier.
7. betathunder - 5.143 - Resurrección Espeons
Betathunder was the player with the most wins in the 2025 UUFPL. Being successful in a farmer's league doesn't necessarily translate to the PL. The voting pool at least seems to be skeptical about it, ranking him seventh.
8. Vioz - 6.6.714 - Pangoro Posse
Vioz is another candidate with not much of a record to show. He did win a single game of UU in ORASCL, but he doesn't have much else to show for. The last place may be the result of uncertainty among voters. Despite that, his price was rather high and his managers must believe in him. Supporting that theory is his current run in the ORAS Grand Slam.
1. Xiri - 1.286 - Dreadful Darkrais
As a player who plays multiple lower tiers, it is interesting to see Xiri put in RU when he had exactly 1 ORAS RU game in the last year and lost. Despite this, the RU pool this year is very incomplete, missing many of its usual regulars. With that in mind, a consistent tournament player such as Xiri, who finished 3-0 in ORASCL in UU/NU is not surprising to see at 1st place.
2. MrAldo - 3.143 - Ruin Valley Rhyperiors
Ruin Valley Rhyperior's 2nd manager self-buy, sitting at 25K (or 15K, depending on how you look at it) is Aldo. Between ORASCL and the last ORASPL, Aldo finished 5-4 in RU. However, an above-average record like that looks amazing in this pool, and we expect Aldo to knowledge check many of these players who are newer to the tier.
3. Mareep - 3.429 - Silky Surskits
Mareep, previously Flampoke, has not played ORAS RU recently, so it is another surprise he is tied for 3rd with Ming. The only thing we have is a 1-3 record last ORASPL between UU and PU and a 2-5 record in the recent RUPL in the Bo3 tier.
3. Ming549 - 3.429 - Resurrección Espeons
Ming on the other hand, and different from his tie Mareep, has more results to back up this ranking. In the last ORASCL, he did time in the RU clanker, going 2-0, and he also finished 6-3 in SV in RUPL. We expect ming to do well and potentially finish top 2, despite his slow start in week 1.
5. Rarelyme - 3.714 - Conkeldurr Sith Rising
Rarelyme being 5th is a bit of an underestimation, as they are an RU main who plays multiple ORAS lower tiers. Furthermore, he has played in RUGL and NUFL and had positive records. In this particular pool, which resembles an RUGL pool more than an average ORASPL pool, we expect rarely to do well.
6. MemphisDepay - 4.286 - Pangoro Posse
MemphisDepay is a solid player, although without much experience in ORAS RU, having not played it in the last year in any of the ORAS tours nor RUPL. He did finish 3-2 in NU in ORASCL, which might be close enough?
7. kiru - 6.143 - Raging Reshirams
The biggest question with Kiru is always their motivation and activity. Aside from not playing ORAS RU recently, they have past experience in ORAS NU similar to MemphisDepay, such as going 3-3 between ORASCL and ORASPL. With that in mind, being 7th is not a surprise, but they may still get wins!
8. Durk27 - 6.571 - The Shadow Dragons
Last but not least is Durk, who is yet another player with no ORAS RU experience and is debuting in ORASPL on top of that, with no other information about him in other ORAS tiers. He did win week one against kiru's sub, so we'll see how far he can go.
1. Abejas - 1.857 - Dreadful Darkrais
Fans of ORASPL and ORASCL might be a little confused why Abejas is ranked first, as a player who has been absent from both tournaments in the past year. Real ball knowers would point you to Abejas's recent stellar performance in NUPL, finishing 6-1 and thus justifying his 15.5K price tag. Although that ORAS pool contained strong players such as Ampha, Lighthouses, and Noname, we suspect that this pool is even stronger, with Kiyo and DugZa, that Abejas might struggle a bit more here. However, he does have good support in Lightouses and asa, so it is fair to assume that would push him to the best record once more.
2. Kiyo - 2.000 - The Shadow Dragons
Following right behind Abejas is Kiyo, who surprisingly went for only 3K. This was most likely due to his absence from ORASCL, which is a shame, because Kiyo is a consistent NU player who went 3-4 last ORASPL in a very strong NU pool. Furthermore, he just finished a great 5-2 run in NUPL, although it was in SM. It is our belief that Kiyo's value is way beyond 3K, which is shared by the NU players who ranked him 2nd. Having Togkey for support only solidifies this theory.
3. DugZa - 2.143 - Resurrección Espeons
Dugza goes by many nicknames, such as DuckZa and DogZa, and similarly, he plays many ORAS lower tiers, such as RU and NU. Ranked 3rd and very close to the top 2, we expect DugZa to be a real contender for the best record in NU, especially with great support from Ruffles, BluBirD, and ExguardiaN.
4. Ampha - 3.857 - Silky Surskits
Coming 4th is Ampha, who is the closest player to the undisputed top 3 in this strong pool, despite being more than 1.5 ranks away. And yet, Ampha has consistency on his side, finishing 5-3 in both the last ORASCL and recently in NUPL. If anyone from this pool has a meaningful chance at scratching the top 3, it's Ampha.
5. Rabia - 5.000 - Raging Reshirams
Tying with mipc at the 5th rank is Rabia, an NU main (and tier leader) who has next to no data in ORAS, as they have not played it in the past year in ORASPL, ORASCL, NUPL, or NUCL! Only time will tell if their skills from ADV NU and other tiers transfer.
6. mipc - 5.000 - Conkeldurr Sith Rising
Similar to Rabia in both ranking and lore, mipc has exactly 0 ORAS NU games that we know of, with no recent appearances in ANY tier in the most recent ORASPL and ORASCL. His managers, Sergio and Bello, seem to disagree, as they have spent 12K on him.
7. Feaniix - 6.000 - Pangoro Posse
The most surprising out of these ranks is Feaniix, who has plenty of experience in ORAS NU and ORAS lower tiers in general and who went 4-3 in the last ORASPL, with wins over solid players such as Gondra. Perhaps this is because he doesn't play NU anywhere other than ORASPL, so he is not as known to other players as he should be. Being ranked 7th and going only for 3K despite solid results is perhaps the biggest blunder in the NU pool.
8. Oathkeeper - 6.143 - Ruin Valley Rhyperiors
Speaking of potential blunders, Oathkeeper is ranked last despite a sweat-inducing 15K (or 25K depending on how you look at it) self-buy price tag. Surprisingly, he hasn't played that much ORAS NU in the past year, only in ORASCL, where he went 1-2 in the tier. In ORASPL, he subbed out after going 0-3 in RU, and in the recent NUPL, he went 4-2 in ADV. The facts are not looking too good for Oathkeeper, but his recent NUPL performance is a step in the right direction. In this death pool, only god knows how Oath will do, but one thing is for sure: if he doesn't do well, that 15K will be a heavy burden for the bench to hold.
1. BluBirD - 1.571 - Resurrección Espeons
We start off with recent ORAS PU superstar BluBirD, winning PUCL with a great performance, on top of doing well in PUPL so far. Fun fact, he was also ranked 1st in the PUPL ORAS rankings. This time, the pool is a little different, and having another PU superstar in MZ will certainly pose a challenge. On top of it, BluBirD is a manager and has to really carry that 15K burden, so a lot is on his shoulders.
2. MZ - 1.857 - Raging Reshirams
MZ is currently the PU Tier Leader and the most expensive PU slot on the auction going for a whopping 19.5K so a lot is expected from the veteran. Amongst other things he's one of the most brilliant builders in the tier while also having the ability to remain incredibly consistent in all PU tours—individual and team tours—with really good and positive records all around for more than a decade now. This can prove to be a tough pool though and there will be a lot decided on the details so it's really up to how committed he is to prove that he never left from the top!
3. asa - 2.429 - Dreadful Darkrais
asa is one of the biggest PU names ever, and for good reason; they have an excellent track record both in ORAS and PU in general, going for an impressive 14K on the auction after having a positive season in the tournament last year. They're an ex-tier leader and a fantastic builder with a lot to prove this season!
4. ishtar - 3.714 - Pangoro Posse
For the untrained eye, if you look at Ishtar 2-5 record last season in ORASPL, you would assume that her price for 3K is absolutely justified…but for the people involved in the tier, seeing that 3K price tag on one of the most experienced players and builders of this tier gave us all a shock! With a ridiculously low price, an ORAS record to make up for, an impressive 4-1 record in the latest SCL, and the proper motivation, Ishtar has the potential of being on the top shelf of this pool, but that all depends on how much effort she will be able to give after a small break from the tier.
5. sugar ovens - 4.714 - Conkeldurr Sith Rising
Sugar ovens is on a hot run currently in PUPL, having an impressive 4-2 record playing SM PU. They're known to be an excellent pilot when they have a good support slot on the side to provide teams that enable them to play to their fullest. Even though they're not as experienced in the tier as the people above them in the rankings, Sugar Ovens had a great run in PU Classic and is showing a great deal of consistency as a pilot overall.
6. feen - 5.143 - Silky Surskits
When it comes to finding names that come back year after year and always put in a fight, Feen is your guy. He might not be at his peak, but Feen is a veteran and knows the tier inside and out. That picture becomes more faint as you start noticing patterns of older teams on his scout and reliance on support for new teams, but don't think for a moment that Feen is to be taken lightly. He's currently on a strong PUPL run with a score of 3-3 at the time of writing this, and he's one great tour run away from being considered again as one of the giants of this tier.
7. ManOfMany - 5.857 - Ruin Valley Rhyperiors
MoM is back for more ORAS gaming after a hiatus, and if he's motivated and in a decent headstate, he has a very realistic chance to set one of the better ORAS records this season. With all that said and done, however, ManOfMany is far from his peak years when it comes to competing, so it's not easy to assume what kind of performance we're getting. However, the only certain thing is that we will see some freshly cooked teams from one of the best ORAS PU builders ever!
8. jeronis - 6.714 - The Shadow Dragons
Last but certainly not least, we have Jeronis! Jeronis is an old head that was quite active while ORAS was the current gen, but with no recent data of him in the tier, it's not hard to realize why he's placed last on the PRs. With the esteemed best spot on any power ranking being the last, Jeronis has nothing to lose and everything to prove, and there's nothing scarier than a creative player that is motivated to win against people who might underestimate his strength in the game.
1. Jox - 1.857 - Pangoro Posse
Showing his face in ORAS once a year, Jox is an absolute force in the Little Cup metagame, rightfully claiming the top spot in this Power Ranking. It's only fitting for the player that dominated his past tours to end up in first place.
2. gali - 3.000 - Ruin Valley Rhyperiors
Maybe the only ORAS LC main, gali usually delivers an above average result. With her tier knowledge and game skills it is hard to bet against her in any game. The 4-1 in ORASPL reflected that, while the 2-3 in ORASCL showed that she is only human.
3. Trawkan - 3.286 - Silky Surskits
There are some results in recent tours for Trawkan, but nothing that really stands out. What does stand out is how long he has been playing ORAS LC. His first tour games were back in 2018; we will see if the experience can help him.
4. Envy - 3.429 - Raging Reshirams
Envy is one of the best overall LC players, being able to play about any gen. He certainly possesses all the skills. ORAS seems to be a gen he tends to struggle with more, leaving him with mediocre results at times. But if you underestimate this guy, you have already lost.
5. reggg - 3.714 - The Shadow Dragons
Reggg doesn't have a big track record, but he did pretty well in the ORAS LC Cup. The question is if he can prove himself on this stage.
5. LeJames Chonk - 3.714 - Dreadful Darkrais
The most successful LC player in the recent ORAS LC but with very little to show otherwise, LeJames Chonk could be the dark horse in LC.
7. Lazuli - 6.000 - Resurrección Espeons
Despite being a known lower tier player, Lazuli's LC experience seems to be small, and the PR reflects that. With little intel it is hard to judge if his LC run will be a success or not, but you can't rule him out just yet.
8. Monai - 6.286 - Conkeldurr Sith Rising
There is no record of Monai in ORAS LC, so it is not a surprise he got placed last. Yet, the last time a PR put him on the bottom end of the pool was in SPL XVI, where he ended up with a 7-2 record. We will see if he can do it again.
1. Idyll - 1.143 - Silky Surskits
For 16K, and after a year break from ORASPL, Idyll comes back and with a bang, ranking first. Still, the first place is quite peculiar. He did go 3-4 in ORASPL two years ago, but what about the last year? He made XY DOU Cup finals, went 3-0 in DWCoP VI, and is currently 2-2 in DPL. Impressive stuff all around, but I wonder if this was worth the 16K and deserving of the 1st rank. Only time will tell.
2. eragon - 2.143 - Ruin Valley Rhyperiors
Eragon is an interesting case because he had an incredible 7-0 performance in ORASPL IV but then last year performed below his standards at 2-5. This year he was bought for 16.5K, so the Rhyperiors are expecting that 7-0 performance, which will be tough in such a competitive pool like this.
3. Akaru Kokuyo - 3.000 - Raging Reshirams
Retained for a whopping 22K is Akaru at 3rd place. A placement that is, mind you, very baffling. Akaru has been both consistent and clutch, going 6-3 in ORASPL IV and 6-1 in ORASPL V last year. With this kind of projection, he might even do better this year and finish at the top of the pool once again.
4. Schister - 3.741 - Dreadful Darkrais
Shister is a good player that has experience in DOU but is perhaps not as consistent as the other players here. Last year, he went 1-3 in ORASPL, and the year before that, 2-4 in the first ORASCL (ORAS Underground back then). These records explain the relatively low price of 6.5K but not the 4th place ranking. Currently, he is 1-2 in DPL and will hope to do better in ORASPL.
5. Val16 - 4.857 - The Shadow Dragons
Val16 has not played in any ORAS team tours in the past two years, so it was a welcome surprise when he signed up this time. At a price of 16.5K, tying with Eragon, he is expected to be at least in the upper half of the pool. He is currently 3-1 in DPL including a win vs. Idyll and Akaru. The 5th ranking is a terrible miscalculation by the other players.
6. Chris32156 - 5.143 - Resurrección Espeons
Chris is an interesting retain by the Espeons at the cost of 13.5K, since he only played three games in last year's ORASPL and went 2-1. Whether this gamble works out for the Espeons, especially when Schister is at 6.5K, will only be revealed later in the tournament.
7. xqiht - 5.857 - Conkeldurr Sith Rising
Xqiht is a good pickup for 3K. He plays DOU and two years ago in ORASPL VI went 2-2. Not much else is known about Xqiht's ORAS DOU experience; just going even here for 3K would be a great angle for the evil Sith.
8. Nakano Nino - 6.143 - Pangoro Posse
In a surprising turn of events, Nakano went for 3K and is ranked dead last. We believe this is an underestimation of their abilities, as they did go 5-4 last year in ORASPL V. This should be a great motivation for Nino to defy the PRs by grabbing as many wins as they can.
