Get rid of the formula entirely. People who are managing this tour are going to likely be at a high playing / prep level and no one under any circumstance should ever cost 10k, at all. The hosts implemented a default of 16k for people who have not been in previous NDPLs (or whtever it was). This still means that managers who did poor in previous NDPLs can still be cheap. Get rid of the formula entirely and make everyone 16k or higher (best solution). Assuming managers will have a 140k budget, higher priced managers covers various forms of pricefixing and will actually provide an opportunity cost for teams which should be the standard for selfbuying. I don't really understand the point of a formula which will always allow some form of loophole-ing. You can make the argument that some managers are worth more than 16k which I agree with but I'd rather have a bunch of 16k managers than some managers who get the good end of the deal while other managers are SOL. Feels rushed asf and pretty lame. Monotype had an issue like this and made every manager selfbuy cost 20k (which should be the norm for this NDPL lol), and two of the best players signed up to duo manage. With 40k immediately down the drain everyone knew they would still win the tour (hint: they did). While there's more nuance to this such as managers still underperforming etc. this is just a recipe that leaves a sour taste in peoples mouths who want to participate in this NDPL. I'll be honest, the people to decide manager prices / selfbuys should be ND tier leaders as they know their player base best. Most important part: last NDPL there was 120k budget and managers costed 18k....why are we pricefixing managers with 140k budget LMAO plsss just make every manager 20k, this formula makes no sense.

These manager pair selections have got to be a joke. At first, I thought that its better to stay silent and let it pass, but on reconsidering it, I think it sets a dangerous precedent for the future. From what I understand, there are two primary qualities that the host looks for in any manager that has signed up.
  • Competence and experience in said tiers
  • Team chemistry / Ability to lead a team
One can argue about the weightage of said qualities, but everyone agrees that these are what every manager should have at the bare minimum. If you sign up to manage, it means that you back yourself in both these departments. Its then the host's job to use their best judgement to pick the best out of the bunch, for the overall health and success of the tournament. That does not seem to be the case here.

One look at the manager pairs, and anyone that has been keeping up with ndpl in recent times will tell you that something is off.
