there has to be some kind of pipeline that goes from accelerationism to serious substance abuse. Or from serious substance abuse to accelerationism. I don't know where it starts and where it ends, and I don't know what's inbetween, I just know that there's some kinda pipeline

Billy Mitchell won his lawsuit and the entire fucking lawsuit wasn't about what Karl Jobst has been saying it was??

I though it was about cheating claims but after reading that it was about being blamed for a person's suicide... yeah that's actually a valid reason for a defamation lawsuit. Mitchell is a clown and a liar but I can't believe that Karl Jobst lied for YEARS about this case

He raised money based on misrepresenting a lawsuit, defaming a person and taking advantage of a man's suicide... fucking hell man
 
I am now the proud owner of an old thinkpad. First impressions are that the keyboard is honestly not bad for a laptop (some of you are acutely aware of my opinion on traditional rubber-domes). They're no topre or anything but they are pretty pleasant to type on, or at the very least not so acutely painful that I'd need to carry around a keyboard just to not feel the urge to shoot myself in the foot while typing anything. The mousepad isn't great, it has a lot more texture than i'd like but that's probably the last owner's fault and i'm sure i'll get used to it. Shelled out like 20 bucks on a replacement keyboard since this one has the comma key missing and it should be arriving by the end of the week.

I’m done with the Scrabble Go app, it was annoying and had ads and I felt like the competition was sort of all over the place. Definitely enjoying woogles.io much more: no ads, no waiting for real people, and you can play bots that are probably around your skill level. They even have a post-game analyzer that shows you the optimal moves you could’ve made, and you can export your games to GIF form as seen above. Shoutout Amaranth for showing me this site!

I play almost all of my games with BasicBot, the second-easiest bot that scores an average of 330 points a game. Overall I definitely have a winning record on BasicBot but I still get beat a good amount of the time. My goal for 2025 is to graduate onto BetterBot, which scores an average of 370 per game and is the mid-level bot that you can play against. I feel like right now I could beat BetterBot once in a blue moon, but certainly not with any kind of consistency. Need to up my word knowledge for sure and get better about seeing all my options on the board (especially with overlaps).

I bought the official Scrabble player’s dictionary for my in-person games and though it sounds kind of lame, studying the dictionary would definitely help. I just have too many video games in my backlog at the moment for that lol.

Anyway hope you enjoyed the Scrabblepost (especially you, Sijih). Here’s to many more games and not waiting almost a year before the next one!

And I’m happy to report a positive update on the 2025 goal!

I feel like I’ve improved rapidly over the past month. My most recent streak was a 13-game win streak over BasicBot, so I decided to try out BetterBot… and I actually won the first game! Got my ass handed to me in most of the games since, but still, I proved I was capable right away. And speaking of, I’m here to brag about my best game ever when you take into account my score + level of the competition: a 465-350 victory against BetterBot! I went second, so I’m yellow.

To be frank, I got pretty lucky with good tile draws all game, three of the four S tiles as well as both blanks certainly helps. And I never had anything tooooo clunky. Still very proud though, especially of the (T)UTORiAl find. When you hold both blanks there’s usually a world of possibilities, but it took me awhile to come up with something that got the job done and hit the triple word score. Turns out I had better plays elsewhere that included doubles and had a few overlaps, but I don’t think I’m at that level yet haha. When I see a triple opening I’m usually happy to go for it mostly to prevent the opponent from getting there first, even if it means sacrificing some points. It’s all about balance I guess.

As mentioned, BetterBot usually has my number (it’s beaten me by 200 points before) but I feel like this game didn’t come out of nowhere necessarily. Rapid improvement makes me feel pretty good! Hence the brag here lol

Having just tried it for the first time, my question for you is why haven’t you had even more than six in the past two weeks? Holy shit this is amazing
 
how long is this "dirty baja blast" going to be around?
if its still there in 2-3 months i'll pick it up when my insatiable urge for taco bell rolls around again

wouldn't be surprised if they keep it for a while, in the event they do remove it just get a baja blast from there and add vanilla creamer yourself lol

I hate this game because there are so many moments in it that make me adore it and suck me in completely through some of the most beautiful and real atmosphere I have experienced and then it hits me with Chloe

It'd genuinely be one of my favorite games if it didn't give this illusion of choice on big story events and if Chloe had a single positive character trait that Max could find genuine connection with

In general, it's weird to me how every character, even very minor ones, are written quite well and multi-layered and natural, having good and bad traits, and the most important character in the story is a huge bitch without a single redeeming quality. That we are meant to like, despite her being consistently manipulative and being a huge bully to everyone surrounding her. Chloe's introduction is her getting shot for a situation that she by herself is alone responsible for, where she then gets saved by Max, which she never, ever repays in any way. That's the entire game. It's like going on vacation to the most beautiful and meaningful place on Earth, and being riddled by gut parasites throughout it
