Cycle 20: Raging Bolt

:sv/raging bolt:

Raging Bolt @ Dragonium Z
Ability: Protosynthesis
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
IVs: 20 Atk
Timid Nature
- Calm Mind
- Thunderbolt
- Draco Meteor
- Thunderclap

Boasting a good natural bulk and access to dangerous Electric-type priority in Thunderclap, Raging Bolt functions as a dangerous wincon and breaker. Coupled with a Z crystal, its Draco Meteor is boosted to new heights, chunking even resists for lots of damage, while its STABs in general threaten the majority of the tier well. It also has a solid defensive typing, resisting common typings such as Steel and Water, allowing it to perform as a soft check to numerous Pokemon.

Ogerpon-Wellspring (F) @ Wellspring Mask
Ability: Water Absorb
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Ivy Cudgel
- Power Whip
- Swords Dance
- Play Rough

A terrifying breaker that Raging Bolt often attempts to check. Ogerpon has many options in the last slot, such as Superpower and Taunt. Here, it chooses to slot Play Rough to lure Raging Bolt and other dragons, such as Mega Lati twins. Swords Dance as it switches in, and don't miss.

+2 252 Atk Wellspring Mask Ogerpon-Wellspring Play Rough vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Raging Bolt: 478-564 (122.2 - 144.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Protosynthesis Raging Bolt Thunderclap vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Ogerpon-Wellspring: 160-189 (53.1 - 62.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Optionally, 40 EVs in Spdef (taken from Attack) guarantee that Ogerpon lives a critical hit Thunderclap from Modest Raging Bolt.

a few days late, was on holiday, sry guys, but without further ado:

Cycle 21: Calm Mind Hatterene

:sv/hatterene:
Hatterene (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Bounce
Tera Type: Psychic
EVs: 248 HP / 124 Def / 136 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Psychic Noise
- Draining Kiss
- Mystical Fire

With a upwards trend in usage recently, Hatterene has secured its position in the tier as a scary wincon with Calm Mind. Boasting decent natural bulk and good typing, Hatterene finds itself able to find set up opportunities relatively often, and can often spiral out of control with its boosted Draining Kisses and decent coverage. It is also able to deny hazards from being set up, thoroughly irritating many of the tiers common setters.

Dragonite @ Steelium-Z / Expert Belt
Ability: Multiscale
Tera Type: Dragon
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake
- Ice Spinner
- Iron Tail / Iron Head

This set is inspired by a set I remember seeing in BDSP OU which was mixed ebelt iron tail dragonite. It’s not mixed here, but since Hatterene is usually a good check to dragonite for ho structures there is a solid chance it comes in and takes an iron tail / head to the face. Even under screens, it still takes the 2HKO and it’s very unlikely a Hatterene will automatically click draining kiss vs. a dragonite. Steel Z also completely nukes it either way.

Besides nuking Hatterene, you also get a very good hit on Tapu lele and Clefable to boot which is appreciated. expert belt is here because z moves are kinda lame

:sv/ting-lu:
Ting-Lu @ Leftovers
Ability: Vessel of Ruin
EVs: 184 HP / 64 Atk / 252 SpD / 12 Spe
Careful Nature
- Earthquake
- Heavy Slam
- Spikes / Stealth Rock
- Whirlwind

Ting-Lu is precisely what Hatterene loves to switch into the most -- a relatively passive hazard setter that Hatt can easily heal off of.
With an ounce of attack and speed investment and the rarely seen Heavy Slam, Ting-Lu outspeeds and cleanly 2HKOs Hatterene on the switch, allowing it to setup hazards freely for the rest of the game. This also bolsters its matchup into Clefable, Iron Valiant, Tapu Lele, and Kyurem.

64 Atk Ting-Lu Heavy Slam (120 BP) vs. 248 HP / 124+ Def Hatterene: 168-198 (52.9 - 62.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Kommo-o @ Salac Berry
Ability: Soundproof
Tera Type: Dragon
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Poison Jab
- Drain Punch
- Substitute
- Belly Drum

hear me out
you sub on the switchin they drain, you bdrum as they drain kiss, then poison jab
suddenly one of better progress makers are dead and they have to deal with a max boosted kommo

+6 252 Atk Kommo-o Poison Jab vs. 248 HP / 124+ Def Hatterene: 520-612 (164 - 193%) -- guaranteed OHKO was this really needed

Garchomp @ Soft Sand
Ability: Rough Skin
Tera Type: Dragon
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Scale Shot
- Stealth Rock

+2 252 Atk Soft Sand Garchomp Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 124+ Def Hatterene: 328-387 (103.1 - 121.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Clean one hit and now you can set up rocks or scale shot
