Let's get things started.

Barrayama :barraskewda: - :hariyama: - :bronzong: - :tsareena: - :slowbro-galar: - :toxtricity:

I've been using this team to ladder for NULT, and it has been my most successful team by far. The basic idea is to use the breaking power and speed of Choice Band Barraskewda, backed with explicit checks for walls like Vaporeon and Toxicroak. Assault Vest Hariyama is an ideal check for Vaporeon, inviting Scald burns to boost itself with Guts. The speed tier you want for Hariyama has shifted recently, as Vaporeon adjusts to creep Rhyperior, so Hariyama itself should be a bit faster than previous metas. Bronzong is a pretty standard hazard setting set and our main Munkidori check (just be careful around Trick). Tsareena is what is rapidly becoming the best set, defensive with Covert Cloak. I tried Heavy-Duty Boots for a while, but you can only get frozen by Rhyperior Ice Punch so many times before you react (my limit was twice). Galarian Slowbro is the excellent IronPress Rocky Helmet set, which serves as an ideal answer to Toxicroak and a variety of other mons. It is also, oddly enough, the default Knock Off absorber for this team. Generally, once Slowbro has lost its item, the reduced damage means you can Slack Off and set up Iron Defenses to beat Scafty or Incineroar. Finally, I went with an off-meta scarfer for this team, but one I think should get some more attention - Toxtricity. Even without the boost of Specs or a Modest nature, this guy does so much damage, and Volt-immunes like Kilowattrel, Gligar, and Flygon hesitate to switch in due to the threat of Boomburst.

Scarf Skewda & Raikou balance
:barraskewda::raikou::toxicroak::bronzong::sylveon::incineroar:

So scarf skewda sounds kinda cope at first -- why would a mon that fast ever run a scarf? Scarf lets it outspeed and surprise every other scarfer in the tier, it lets it run adamant (with a couple extra EVs too), and most notably it is faster than +2 drednaw. Thats ludacris speed! I wanted to see if the set works so I built around it! Now skewda wants help with water and grass types, enter raikou and toxicroak. CM flyblast raikou is great for surprising grass types that would normally wall it opening up for skewda, and its also just a good mon now (for literally the first time this gen!) Flyblast over iceblast mainly because of the defensive benefits of Tera flying while still hitting grasses. Toxicorak is our more immediate water answer and balloon makes it more hazard resistant and helps it make progress vs swampert. Ice punch lets us not be hardwalled by gligar (so we can make progress vs the gligar vapo teams.) Unfortunately that means we kind of have to run knock over sucker so we aren't as weak to sub legion. Knock is never bad but prio would have been nice too. Standard bronzong and sylveon. Incin is sporting a set I've found myself using some more recently. It has the offensive-ish spdef-ish spread, but it has dual stab eq and parting shot. Parting shot is here to enable raikou and croak. As it turns out, incin is also a workable incin check if you run eq! (and it lets it hit diancie which would otherwise wall it and block parting shot.) We are running a little more speed than standard spdef incin. So we come in on a stab/wisp, and then eq it for 50% before it pivots out. This helps take some pressure off of zong and sylveon and helps to open up for raikou! You usually lose incin’s boots in that interaction, but it makes decent progress.

Skewda's Spike Stack
:barraskewda::houndstone::klefki::rhyperior::wo-chien::articuno-galar:

Inspired by the Houndstone hazard stack team that Ninja has been running for NULT, I wanted to make my own version with Barraskewda at the helm.

:pmd/barraskewda:
On paper, the best way to use Barraskewda is on a hazard stacking team, where it serves the role of revenge killer and pivot, with the ability to force many switches and put its teammates in favorable positions. Its uncontested Speed tier makes it a threat to basically anything not wielding a Choice Scarf.

:pmd/houndstone:
Houndstone is the best spinblocker into Tsareena, but instead of a fully physically defensive set, I chose to use a less passive set with max attack and priority to lessen the team's weakness to Chandelure and Munkidori, two of the tier's most common special attackers. I invested the remaining EVs in Speed to creep opposing Klefki and Defense to boost Body Press's damage into range of 2HKO'ing Incineroar (if you Tera on the second hit). Skipping out on HP investment also has nice synergy with Pain Split.

:pmd/klefki:
Klefki is an incredibly reliable Spiker and serves as emergency speed control. Rocky Helmet enables it to chip Munkidori or other U-turn users throughout a game, as well as further bolstering the team's matchup versus HO.

:pmd/rhyperior:
Rhyperior is as beefy as they come, with unrivaled ability to both take and dish out hits. Pretty standard rock-setting set with Tera Dragon boosted Dragon Tail, which has additional synergy in shuffling the opponents into the many layers of hazards we plan to set.

:pmd/wo-chien:
Wo-Chien gives us a real water and ground resistance and something to Knock Off an opponent's Heavy-Duty Boots or other items. Foul Play is great into Dragon Dance Flygon, and Giga Drain helps immensely in the Rhyperior matchup. The EVs might look a little wonky as I have both investment and a minus nature in Speed, but this is the most efficient distribution that mantains the power of Knock Off and Giga Drain.

:pmd/articuno-galar:
Finally, Galarian Articuno acts as a win condition and punishes Defoggers thanks to its ability Competitive. Max Speed is ideal to speed tie Nasty Plot Uxie and outspeed non-scarfed Flamigo, while max HP gives us more setup opportunities.

Pads Skewda Balance
:toxicroak: :barraskewda: :tsareena: :bronzong: :gligar: :diancie:

This was a team I built for NUFL finals, but ultimately went in another direction. But I'm bringing it back out. Croak+barra is the intelcroak of the future (intelcroak is still better though). But one major issue they face is that bellibolt completely screws over both of these pokemon. Thats where pads barra comes in. It can avoid static procs from bellibolt, while also ignoring the multiple rocky helmets teams have. Rest of the team is pretty standard after that.

S4W2: Barraskewda (No Full Rain), Results
Close race here but shen managed to beat hammer by a single point! We only had 4 submissions this time but honestly I think all 4 were solid teams. Congrats ro promotion buddy, Shengineer!

:barraskewda::houndstone::klefki::rhyperior::wo-chien::articuno-galar:

Offensive houndstone is cool (I may have encouraged you in that direction but you did make the spread/final version lol) and a fast hard hitting mon with a bunch of hazards is always nice! We will be back with week 3 once I finalize what to feature and get it typed up!

Season 4 Week 3: Rhyp Hype Returns!
Ryph hype has taken over nu! This thing is a straight up beast. Bit of a stat demon with a great ability this thing is... rock solid! Rhyperior is known for trading with just about everything that isn't a grass/water type, and going 2-for-1 pretty often with tera too. On top of some potent sd breaking sets, rhyperior can also take on a more supportive role with moves like rocks and dragon tail. AV tank sets are cool and it even has potential on HO with rock polish/double dance sets! There is very little this mon can't do so that should leave lots of room for creativity! Rhyperior was actually one of the first mons featured on NUTC back in the tester season 0 weeks, but its been out of the tier for almost a year so I think it's fair to use it again!

:sv/rhyperior:

Build the best rhyperior team possible and post it here! Submissions are open now and close Tuesday July 22nd at ~10pm-4. Happy building!

TornQwilKou BO
:overqwil::raikou::tornadus::rhyperior::tsareena::vaporeon:

I guess I'm gonna have to get the ball rolling! Idea behind this team is to use raikou to position overqwil to abuse grass types with sub + sd. Tornadus is another potent breaker and I wanted to try grass knot out since we have a second real target in rhyp now! This way it can lure rhype/pert for overqwil/raikou. Torn's biggest opp is kilo, so we have raikou and our own rhyperior which are both solid answers to it. Tsar provides removal, and vapo rounds out the team and wishes up some of our guys!

Trick Room

:Rhyperior: :Diancie: :Uxie: :Vikavolt: :Flamigo: :Exeggutor-alola:

I love trick room and I immediately knew I wanted to build with trick room Rhyperior. The biggest struggle with building this team was that I already needed 2 rock types because there was no way I wasn't using Diancie, so I had to make sure the rest of the team would be able to deal with checks that pressure Diancie and Rhyperior.

After adding Uxie as a trick room setter that can turn a (somewhat) fast encore into a (somewhat) slow pivot in Trick Room, I slapped on a Vikavolt. Electric, Bug, and Grass coverage is able to hit those aforementioned checks to Rhyperior and Diancie, being able to hit Ground, Water, and Grass super-effectively, while being immune to ground and resistant to steel and fighting. Having a late game cleaner for trick room is good, and I felt that Barraskewda was too unreliable after however many games I wanted to lock into Psychic Fangs, so I put Flamigo on the team.

The final mon gave me the most trouble. I tried Hoopa, Bronzong, and even Carbink, but I ended up with Exeggutor-a because it can set trick room and does not compound a weakness to Basculegion or Incineroar.

Replays: decent showcase | Imagine i made a predict this game

Counter Rhyperior BO
:rhyperior: :bronzong: :vaporeon: :kilowattrel: :incineroar: :meloetta:

This is a team centered around counter rhyperior, which is a fun tech that can catch people insanely off guard. It allows you to KO pokemon such as Tsareena and Flamigo that might otherwise give Rhyperior trouble, at the cost of a lot of its health ofc. The defense evs on rhyperior allow it to stomach more physical attacks, such as taking 2 flamigo CC's from full. Zong is mandatory steel type, vapo can help heal up rhyperior after its done its counter tech, kilowattrel is a fast attacker that can get in rhyperior pretty easily, incin is the ghost check and sweeper of the team with eq for diancie and scarf melo can catch offensive pokemon off guard with its speed while still packing good power.

Good Luck Physical Walls (A Rhyperior BO)
:copperajah: :flamigo: :incineroar: :rhyperior: :tauros-paldea-aqua: :tsareena:

This team is based around breaking apart the opposing team with powerful physical pokemon until one of them can clean it up. Rhyperior is the intended wincon, but sometimes it can come out immediately and start punching holes for one of the choice mons to clean. Be aggressive with the pivots/switches and you can quickly overwhelm other teams. I just gave rhyperior evs to outspeed belli and the rest in bulk since belli is the best stop to physical attackers in NU.

Season 4 Week 3: Megas at home!
My first competitive games were X&Y. It was really cool to see some of my favorite childhood mons getting a new and (usually) better form! Who knows hopefully we will be getting a return to megas in the future?!?! (no spoilers!) Anyways, this week mom said we couldn't pick up megas we had to use the megas at home. Megas at home be like:

:sv/venusaur::sv/houndoom::sv/ampharos::sv/glalie:

This week your team must contain at least 1 pokemon that had a mega form! There is a full list of mons below. Diancie, Swampert, and Altaria are being excluded as currently NU mons to give the others a chance! (you may use them on your team but they DO NOT count as your "mega.") Submissions are open now and close Tuesday, July 29th at ~10pm-4. Happy building!
