I'm drunk but that's what we need c'mon folks this is a GAME have a bit of fun

post quantity has been rough, that's not necessarily on the players bc the pings didn't work so some people missed game start (which we've fixed, mafia host perms on Smogon now give infinite ping perms) so that's highk on us as staff

I think? everyone's checked in by now though but by the time people arrived the narrative of the thread was already "game's dead no one's here what's the point" and that is :tymp: bad :tymp: it's literally day 1

I think you played the last OC game, have you ever played the game of mafia other than that game? irl, in other communities, anything? knowing your experience level helps us read you, newer players play differently to more experienced players and the gameplay of this is to solve as many slots as possible

only you can share this info x3 we don't know your life haha and there's nothing wrong with being new everyone is new at some stage, and there's also obviously nothing wrong with being experienced it's just important background for reads yk
 
hypoclaiming is a uhhh decent? idea in this setup, I would say

in general I'm largely against hypoclaiming because in practice I think it tends to inform scum more than it informs town. hypoclaim claims aren't actually that useful until the cop dies, and then it p much becomes RNG of how much we can get out of it. If we hypoclaim for 2 days and then the cop dies on N3, on average the cop's cleared two town and then mafia will just shoot those two town, yk. doc might mean that's not the case, or maybe the doc's already dead and then it's free. it's just a really inconsistent strategy

the important part of it is that if someone hypoclaims town on scum for example, scum learn that that player isn't the cop. so they have an info advantage we don't, and the hypoclaiming actually helps scum cop hunt which is !! bad we want the cop alive as long as possible

otoh with two nightkills per night the cop's chance of getting randed is fairly high anyway so my usual dislike of hypoclaiming is a bit lesser in this setup than normal but I would still GTH say nahhh prob not the strat

and if the cop gets a red and claims it in hypoclaim, scum know that it's a red and maybe they're not gonna shoot the cop the exact next night cos it seems a bit obvious but the cop's probably dead the night after that. and that's no different to if we didn't hypoclaim, because cops should be claiming redchecks whenever they roll in whether we're hypoclaiming or not

it's basically just mad inconsistent and the scum have the info advantage, the strat's kinda cooler in theory than practice
 
wait lowk we have 2 protectives and mafia's hooker can die if it targets the werewolf which means they're fairrrrly disincentivised to use it early on to block the protectives cos that risk vs reward is way weighted towards risk for em lol

that creates an interesting dynamic it's an irregular setup for sure

basically this is a game where people should feel freer to be a in-your-face like head above the parapit player cos I'm gonna assume scum are gonna shoot in the mid pool, players who aren't likely to be protected and players who aren't likely to be voted out

so this should be a more active game than normal if we're playing well and that's hype everyone be bold yk

cos we want that mid pool as small as possible
