damp quagsire actually almost qualifies as a skuntank lure, only backwards. If you can safely switch out to quaggy, most skuntank will explode on you, epxecting another kill, which then fails as they get EQ'd. the problem is that like leman said skuntank isn't as insanely common anymore, and quaggy is now royally screwed over by rain dance teams.
Also, leman, where are doug's statistics? I can't find them.

Not for cap. The ones for OU/UU/Ubers.

I wish NU was played more. I go looking for a battle, and nobody is on. If it was available on the Smogon server it would probably get played more. I use several NU's in UU, but I would really like to play NU properly.

I tried PO and I never even understood how to battle on it.

Alexa, then you can just get into a new metagame. When no one is on the NU ladder, I just go on play LC, OU, or Suspect.

I have seen a minimum of 5 people in the NU tier on PO, and I've gone on at Noon and 1 a.m, among other times. You can download it here. Click on your computer type in the right sidebar. Its actually a lot more aesthetically pleasing than shoddy battle, with nice blue tones and type-colored moves, (including hidden power) as well as quick-scrolling health bars. To make your team, click on the teambuilder option, make your team, customize your avatar, bla bla bla, then go online to the one server with anyone on it. From there its pretty self explanatory, but be warned that you don't get to take back moves. As in, if you choose SR, then realize it was a mistake, but your opponent hasn't chosen a move yet, you can't cancel it like on shoddy battle. Quite honestly I don't know what could confuse you.

Wow. NU is so much fun. I love the offense style and versatility of the tier. The only real problem with NU is that it's hard to find straight NU battles, as I dislike UU and UU/NU usually turns into all UU with only me bringing NUs.

I found a Magmortar counter. Well, Earthquake Magmortars. Theoretically.

Munchlax@Leftovers
Trait: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 HP / 80 Atk / 176 SDef
Careful nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Return
- Earthquake
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

Fire Blast: 24.9% - 29.3%
Thunderbolt: 26.2% - 30.8%
HP Grass: 19% - 22.6%
Earthquake: 34.8% - 41.1%
Focus Blast: 65.8% - 77.6%

OHKOs Magmortar after SR most of the time guaranteed with Life Orb. So yeah. D:

that is why i say focus blast should be standard, it 2hko flareon switch ins after SR anyway, kill most fire types, and it stop random counters like this, no need for EQ.

Surprisingly Focus Blast is working better then Earthquake! Even with that idiotic accuracy it is still the best choice IMO

ok so humm....i dont know if anyone(or rather, me) said this yet, but chainbite is somewhat effective around NU, 218 special atack is nowhere close to powerful, but it IS a base 140 power STAB move with life orb, it dont got problems with special walls because of outrage/EQ and fire blast surprise some ice/grass/whatever pokemons.

Somebody give this guy a medal. We just need to popularize that Earthquake, then BAM Magmortar counter. (it's an NFE pokemon too...)

It's a shame it doesn't learn Slack off.

It's got Fail accuracy though.

Cross chop has little use outside killing Munchlax though, as Focus Blast or Earthquake hits everything harder.
EDIT big 100 yaaa

remember that if you run EQ or cross chop you will have to switch the nature to mild/hasty instead of modest/timid, what is not exactly good because while he is not bulky he can take a hit and burn the enemy on contact, focus blast can have shitty accuracy but its really his best option.

EQ is generally worth it for the ability to hit Ninetales and Flareon. +/252/252 Flareon takes 36.8% - 43.4% from Focus Blast - that's not a great chance of 2HKOing factoring in the 49% of hitting twice in a row as well as accounting for two turns of Leftovers recovery thanks to Protect.

At the end of the day, I think a specialized physical move is probably better than Focus Blast in the last slot. Those moves being Cross Chop/Low Kick/Earthquake. Low Kick has perfect acc and hits Munchlax and Walrein for the same as Cross Chop, but Cradily for only 80 BP, and Flareon for even less. Cross Chop has 80% acc but 2HKOs all of them with SR (Need Rash for Flareon). Hitting twice might be difficult, though, and Protect will probably ruin chances on Flareon. I think the choice has to come from whether you have a strong fighter for Cradily or something that can handle Ninetales well.

Eh. Maybe you are right. But I don't RELY on Focus Blast... usually everyone else weakens it for the final hit. Most fire teams won't have a good Munchlax killer/lure.

I think Earthquake is the best "last slot" move for Magmortar in NU simply because you only really lose out against Miltank which a) does not tend to stay NU and b) has pretty horrible SpD so you still do a decent amount of damage to it.
