Shell Katana perhaps ?_?, well if it does become some kind of Samurai, guess he'll be neat-looking. On a second note, wonder how Smugleaf3 will turn out to be, hope it looks dragon-ish, even if it's not part-dragon (though hope it's at least part electric).

Vashino Wizard's samurai > Lucalibur's "samurai" ...*cough*

Alright, alright. Everyone is so keen on this Otter Samurai (as am I), but here's the big question that needs to be answered: in order to be a Samurai, the otter would 100% need a sword, after all, the sword is "the heart of the samurai". We know that the designers won't give it a real, tempered steel sword (that would be too epic, you see).

So what would this Otter Samurai's sword be, exactly? A bamboo stick? A leak stolen from a defeated Farfetch'd ronin (now THERE's a great evo idea)? Will it's claws grow into a sword-like weapon?

Hmmm... Maybe a Shell-blade? Bamboo-blade could also work

About SR: the problem with it is that it outclasses all other forms of entry hazards. It only takes one turn to set up, can deal a maximum of 50% of a poke's hp in damage, and hits EVERYTHING. I would suggest that it deals 18.75% damage, and hit only flying types and pokes with Levitate. There's a large amount of such pokes in the OU metagame in particular(14 i think). This might seem like too big a difference from what it does now, but when u consider the extent to which it has affected the metagame it's seems ridiculous in it's current form.

Look, I'm a fan of No More Heroes, but Travis can't touch Toshiro Mifune when it comes to Samurai.

Considering he has an attack called shell blade, a shell-katana seems most likely. Of course, samurai didn't only use swords. Maybe it's a naginata-type deal.

when the fuck did i said travis was suppose to be a samurai? i said we need a star wars pokemon since a lot of stuff in no more heroes was based around star wars.

come to think of it, we could use a steel/fighting pokemon(notice the main type is steel, not fighting) that use beam swords or can fire laser beams.

good to know i am not the only no more heroes fan to tell the true.

travis:this isint a battle anymore. its a MOTHERFUCKING war!

edit:if you cant notice right away i am not really serious about laser beams.

Its Shell. It has that 'Shell Blade' attack, so likely that.

I totally didn't edit any parts of your post, luca.

AS A CERTIFIED LAZER USER I AGREE WITH THIS.

so its gonna suck when i go away for a week, when i come back i expect a debriefing of what i missed starting from this point.

pumped for corocoro

I don't see much potential in guys like Tsutaja or Pokabu TBH as Tsutaja will most likely be like Treecko in the end and only dissapoint, Pokabu looked interesting but that was until I saw the typing for Reshiram. Shimama and Megukoko look promising if they have any evolved forms and Doryuzuu looks like it can take me pretty far. Going to go with my gut and choose Mijumaru as it's simply been too long since I last used a water starter in-game.

I want Mijimaru to be Water/Rock.

That way he gets STAB on Water and Rock Attacks[Surf/Waterfall &Rockslide/Stoneedge] plus like any water type gets Ice moves[Icebeam/Punch] and many of those "standing" rock types like Kabutops or Armaldo get to learn Brickbreak/Superpower , not to mention rock types high defenses and resistances , other than the fact it gets a 4x Grass weakness<_<.

Personally, I'm hoping for Mijumaru to be either part fighting or part ground due to giving the water starter decent coverage and all around versatility when it comes to the potential move pool to be revealed.

I simply like it due to the fact that its evolution looks potentially promising and hey, maybe it could be the next Swampert provided the final evolution is worth a damn by the time that the hype dies down.

water + samurai = water/fighting OR water/steel, not water/ground

No on water/steel. We already have Empoleon for that, we don't need another straight repeat. Personally, I don't give a damn that it resembles a samurai even though that is part of what makes it presentable in terms of appeal, it's the possibility of it being able to hold its own when it comes to simple typing and what moves that it could use. Water/ground would make more sense IMO due to it already being a sea otter Pokemon and that secondary typing adding more feel of synergy to what kind of Pokemon that Mijumaru is trying to be like.

I was thinking of a really minor point, just a guess: The samurai otter's armor could be coconuts or more likely, clams :P Just to fit with otter flavor.

Please be water/fighting, it'd be uber cool.

That'd be really cool but a weakness to Ground is not desirable :O Plus, that would probably end up being Kabutops with Torrent I think, unless this evo was significantly bulkier.

gamefreak says no.

torchic could've been fire/flying (a chicken), but it becomes a street fighter instead.

piplup could've been water/ice (a penguin), but it becomes an fatass steel penguin instead.

I doubt that by being an otter Mijumaru would gain ground as its second typing just because it makes more sense.

Regardless of anything, I just wanna see Mijumaru end up being a Water/Fighting. Sure it'll be the third gen in a row with some sort of Fighting type, but we only have Poliwrath with this typing. And it has some pretty mediocre stats IIRC.

Who ever said water rock typing is good typing is crazy. 4 weaknesses to pretty common types Fighting Ground and Electric carried on pretty much every team. Not to mention the grass weakness. With only 5 resists to normal and flying and poison those should help alot. The two useful resists of fire and ice are only a virtue of it being a water pokemon.

Now lets take a look at the epicness that is Water Fighting Typing (Wanted this from the beginning) Once agian 4 weaknesses however flying and psychic are almost not existant which leaves you with thunder and grass. Now the fun part to look at resists, there are 7. Rock, Dark, Bug, Steel, Fire, Water, Ice. Now let's see are there any dark, rock, Bug, or steel type moves prevelent in OU... thinking cap... oh yea that ttar fellow and that red mantis. Plus the typical Bulky Water resists. To put it simply Ott + Samuria= water + fighting = WIN

Is there any smogon thread that has ever had this many posts?

I love how everyone complained that Mijimaru sucks so much, but now with the prospect of it evolving into some badass otter samurai, everyone is all gaga over it.

uhh.. duh.. thats why people were gaga over the grass starter at first.. because its look and possibility. plus the awesome name of smugleaf.

where's the fire-pig on all this? it's quickly turning into the forgotten starter. which is understandable and sad at the same time.. it looks pretty sweet.. but the fact that its feeling like a possible shitty starter may have a hand in it. Maybe they're tired of having fire-types running the show for the starters?

Other than grass , empoleon has the same exact weakness as Water/Rock...except that we dont steel STAB on empoleon cause theyre not used now....yet STAB stone-edge can be very useful.

If you look at Water/Fighting....its completely stoppable by Slowking/bro...and what do you mean by flying is not a common type?I see yanmega's and togekiss's everywhere.

To be honest, the fire pig is probably least talked about it because everyone knows what it'll be already (probably a large boar or pig). With the other two starters we have no idea what they'll be (especially Smugleaf; people only care about what kind of otter Wotter will turn into).
